I think I fell into that category of people who didn't have a printer, but needed something printed every odd month or so. So why bother picking one up? But each and every time the need to get something printed came along, it was super annoying to have to send it to someone else and ask them to print it off.I finally decided to get my own printer, and I chose this one. It was cheap enough, and could do the basics. Now, I'm the guy people ask to print stuff for them! Unless they have a printer of their own.Set up is super easy, and while there is a driver disk included, I didn't need it since it popped up on my Windows 10 PC's automatically once on the network. For printing labels, documents, things like that, this things perfect. The quality is as good as you'd want it to be. I've even tried some glossy photo paper for doing a couple of portrait shots. The quality is really nice, but I found that colour tones tended to be on the cooler side than what the source is. This isn't a bad thing considering the price point of this printer, it's not built for that kind of job. But it will spit out some decent photos in a pinch if needed.Scanning is great, and relatively quick actually. It's not photo copier quick, but compared to my last scanner, it's blazing. I haven't timed it, but I'd say about 30 seconds for a full scan, there or about. You can register the printer for online printing too, and print documents or photos from anywhere as long as your printer is on and connected. I've found this has some use, but for the most part, I feel it's better to just turn it on when you need it, and have it print the stuff off while you're there to collect it.The controls on the front are easy to operate and clear to see. The front face is adjustable, so if the printer is low down, you can have it's screen facing up to you. There's some additional settings in the menus too, a quiet mode to reduce the operating volume a bit, this can slow things down, but I haven't noticed it too much. There's also a setting for pausing between prints whenever printing on both sides of the same sheet. This lets the ink dry for longer, and can help stop smudging. It's a real simple machine, and it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to get set it up and get printing/scanning. I recommend picking one up if you're in the category of people that I was, and want to take back the control of your printer needs!

This review is specifically of the Epson XP-5105. Having recently failed to set up an HP printer, I was concerned that setting this one up might be tricky. I shouldn't have worried. I got into a slight muddle because I did the mobile phone setup first - that assumes you've already installed the ink cartridges etc. And the print head alignment was mind-numbingly slow and wasted 4-5 sheets of paper. I was a little bit annoyed at the printer demanding access to location services - presumably so they can brick the printer if I ever dare take it out of the country. Apart from those niggles, I'm pretty happy. The WiFi set up was impressive - the printer found and joined my home network completely automatically - I didn't even have to supply a password.Borderless printing is excellent, especially on glossy photo paper. 600 dpi scanning is very good, and I particularly liked that the printer can save scans on a memory card and it can also print photos from the card without having to involve a computer at all. Although I have to say the process would be easier if the LED screen was a bit bigger and touch-sensitive.Normal printing (ie b/w text) is very fast, and automatic 2-sided printing is something I haven't seen before - very clever stuff. I haven't rated customer support because I haven't used it, and I haven't rated the touchscreen because it doesn't have one.I don't know if Amazon allows links to external things, but I've uploaded a detailed video to my YouTube channel planetkeef.

We've had this printer about 5 months on a Windows 7 laptop, and it's just had light use. All was well until recently when the printer displayed the message 'firmware update available' on the lcd screen, and refused to do anything until this was dealt with. There was no option NOT to install the update. When the printer was new I had disabled all updates on the computer via the Epson software, so I was annoyed now to find that that this had not also disable the printer's ability to download firmware updates itself! As I had no choice, I let the printer instal the firmware update. This seemed to have messed up the PC's Epson software though, as it now thought the printer was offline, even though it was definitely connected to the wifi. I found no way to remedy this, so I uninstalled all the Epson software from the PC, and downloaded just the XP-3100 Printer and Scanner drivers from the Epson site. On installing these, the PC found the printer immediately and the printer worked perfectly again. So, on reading about similar problems from other buyers, my advice is: if you have the same firmware updater problem that I had, uninstall ALL Epson software and then download just the printer and scanner drivers. Install them manually. Do NOT install the Epson auto Updater software! Turn off automatic updating of all Epson software reinstalled AND in the printer settings menu. Remember: if it ain't broke, don't let Epson fix it.

Great printer. Cheaper than a lot of office printers and does a great job printing black and white or colour printouts fast. I like how the paper is hidden away rather than stuck up out the back bending over like most home printers. The duplex printing is also a bonus. I bought extra inks after some reviews say that the ink that comes with it doesn't last long but 100 printed pages later, about 30 in colour, and it's still printing fine. Setup is a breeze if you have an optical drive, which I did on one laptop. For any PCs with no optical drive downloading the driver and following the online instructions can be a pain as you may miss a driver (there are about 5). I found it easier to just rip the driver disc to ISO,copy the file to a USB stick and run on the other Windows 10 machines in our household (Win10 can read ISOs without specialist software). Note that there is no USB printer cable included but it works great over WiFi with modern dual-band routers. I found it useful to assign a fixed IP address in the router itself for the printer. I also installed Epson iPrint on our android devices so we can print from mobiles and tablets from anywhere in the house or garden. Great for when you see some new activities for the kids to do when isolating. Click, print, job done!

Bought this about a year ago for home an sporadic use. Not sure why some bad reviews, either faulty units or people that don't know how to install or use properly. Very easy to install, it does the job pretty well for the price paid and it prints well even if after weeks without use. The cartridges didn't clog or dry and I'm very happy with the double side printing as it makes long printing jobs much easier. Scanning and the photocopying are brilliant and work flawlessly with the mini screen option or the Epson app. The Epson enabler driver also works very well with other apps, e.g. printing from Microsoft office app on the mobile, although with some limited functions. Great printer overall for its price. On the other hand, the cartridges are expensive but I usually get them refilled and works well for a few more times and thus make them cheaper too. Very happy with it after 1 year of use.

I had a professional printer with all in one including fax, scan tray, automatic 2 side printing etc so I came from top spec to mid range naturally I am bias and noticed a difference. I think the printing quality is not overwhelming, it's ok it's neat but not the best I've seen. However I bought it because it's compact the ink is cheap and as I don't print much that's the best solution. The feeding paper system is a bit of a pain and sometimes hit and miss but if you don't print much, like me, that should not be a bother. All in all it does it's job but not the most convenient. Installing...well...I mean I use it on mac and windows but there is a huge difference between the systems...a lot of apps and drivers needed. It would have been easier to build a single app that does all rather than 1 for scanning 1 for printing 1 for photos etc. Again it's good for a couple of pages here and there.

I like the look of this. The print quality is great too. The seller was really helpful and got back to me really fast when I had some questions. I was able to install everything but I prefer a set up card, rather than having to watch videos. Maybe you could have both? It just took me a while but maybe that's because I'd been having trouble with my lap top too. The set up is actually easy once you have the instructions to hand. I am really happy with it so far and have managed to set up all my devices to print easily.Update.Have had nothing but problems. Settings for WiFi needs sorting all the time. The annoying thing is that you should be able to choose to print on black but it won't allow you too.Not aye

Got this as a impromptu purchase as we went into isolation and needed a printer for home schooling. I chose this one as the ink is cheaper to buy than other models and the digital screen for ease. The printer was delivered swiftly and the set up was easy enough. Which was a relief as I'm not tech savvy. The digital screen prompts and guides you if any issues arise and shows you how to rectify the problem.Comes with some ink enough to set the printer up and let it do testing prints. The ink is still working and I've printed a fair few things off already. It's not overly noisy and the Wi-Fi set up to my mobile makes life so much easier.I can recommend as thought great value for money

Arrived promptly as expected in excellent condition. Psper instructions poor; but using the web link which was in instructions it was easy to set up on mac & windows. Mac very easy via wifi but windows via USB. It took over 1h to set up ~ the BLACK ink cartridge was a bad fit/connection. The ReadyInk Amazon DRS was not obvious; this I managed via google and even then not obvious. This could have been better documented or hyperlinked from ANAZON's page. But from EPSON it was possible.Oh! and automatically pay-as-you-go via Amazon Dash Replenishment is a tad overexpendive when you can buy a pack of 4 inks for price of individuals

My last printer died on me when I bought a new desk top, so decided to buy an All in one. I don't print lots of documents so was looking for a reliable home printer at a reasonable price. The set up process was straight forward both using a USB cable and wi-fi printing from my android phone. the print and scan quality is more than adequate for anything I will ever print and the will include photo's and letter quality prints. All in all this is a great home printer, my only dislike so far is the paper load system, its a little bit flimsy and clumsy, but for the price this is a wonderful machine.

Needed to replace my printer and had Epson before, so went with that. I looked for one which wasn't too expensive as it was just for home use, and the reviews were mainly positive. Not being too technically minded, my daughter installed it fairly quickly, but couldn't manage to hook it up to my mobile phone. That was not a worry as I only print from my computer, but obviously, we would need to try again to get the phone and printer compatible, in case I needed this facility. (May be more to do with my phone, than the printer) Altogether quite pleased as the printing is clear, and it's fast.

This new Epson replaced an old one. After so many years the price remained the same which was good but I wish I had made an investment in a better model. I only really wanted something very simple but I am confronted by so many features that in all honesty I don't really anticipate using. I cannot afford the time learning everything, I cannot be bothered. I had trouble setting things up but that I accept was probably down to me and not the machine. Print quality is both good and quick. I guess it is a good machine but I wish it was simpler. I'm dreading the replacing of the ink cartridges.

Had issues with delivery however it was parcel forces fault and not the seller buy they have been in constant contact and made an effort to make sure it got to me. I appreciated the support. In terms of setting up its really easy it might take you 30-45 mins. Please just use the dvd there are easy to follow instructions to be honest. Waisted so much ink trying to do without the dvd but all sorted now. Still yet to see if the quality is good and how long the ink will last for. You can print from your phone or laptop so easy for me I don't have to get up all the time. So will see how it goes

It is easy to get lost in a web of confusion when searching for a printer as there are so many questions that arise and one thing i find difficult is reading 1 star reviews that can be very off putting, very sad people who feel the need to do this with a product that exceeded my expectations, do you really think a company as big as epson would produce a malfunctioning product?! THIS PRINTER IS BRILLIANT. I use a macbook and easily connected to wifi and downloaded the epson software direct from their website. Perfect prints and crystal clear scan. its all you need as a home printer.
