Personal history: I have two Canon printers – one ‘bog standard’ as in print, scan & copy – plus an A3 model I use only for printing photos with and have been partial to this make for years ever since I used their range of cameras since the 1960’s and I am still. Now the Epson comes under the microscope so to speak. It’s quite a nice size, fits on the end of the desk quite well and the controls are nicely laid out. Its actual construction is no better or worse than other makes I have or seen although I will not be doing handstands on it, so for basic needs as a printer seem to suggest it’s quite man, or rather person, enough to stand up to the usual knocks and possible abuse (light)in use as after all it just sits there. Once plugged into the wall and switched on, it’s a case of following the on screen instructions/menu as par the normal as in such initial first time stages although it’s a bit ‘long winded’ compared to the above Canons I have that seemed light years ahead compared and they are three and fours years old now, but once you get there its not bad but perhaps its best to make yourself a hot drink and have a biscuit or three while it rambles through its set-up.. The actual printing process within the printer itself is a bit on the noisy or clunky side with the innards whirring away but livable as the paper is grabbed and taken in and the process starts. Photo printing is quite good considering how many inks are used and the 6x4’s and the 7x5’s came out well with good vibrant colours. I tried printing a few letters off and they seemed more than adequate with good precise letters with no smearing or colour run and this is using two different breeds of (supposed..) quality paper. On the ink question, I did look on-line and some of the prices quoted are quite mind numbing - compared to my Canons – as being in the quite high price bracket, so its the now usual old story of the printer is el cheapo like most if not all makers, but the inks? – wow… The scanning side is more than adequate with copies of photos coming out quite near to the one its copied, so full marks there. I have not tried the Wi-Fi set up to be honest although daughter will be doing so soon I am told – there… they never let you down! Overall it’s not a bad product but if anything the set up could be better hence I give it 4 Stars.

This is a pretty serviceable scanner and printer from Epson. It comes at a reasonable price and has a set of starter inks to get you up and running.Epson have been around for a while now, and their hardware is usually pretty reliable and quite good value for money. This model seems to be quite sturdy, made from a good quality thick plastic for the casing. The scanning glass and mechanism look pretty standard, so there shouldn't be any nasty surprises there. This model also takes individual inks, so if it runs out of one colour, you only have to renew that colour, and not all of them.Setup is via the enclosed DVD, and mine went smoothly enough. The software loads a driver and also an interface for the scanning operation should you need these. It also appears on my Windows Paint and Photoshop software too.The WiFi element is also simple to set up, and although it is a little slower on WiFi than USB, it does give you flexibility to work around the home. The quality of the printed output is actually pretty good for a cheap(ish) printer, so no complaints from me on that score. The scanner is good and sufficient for most needs. I use my cartoons to make greetings cards, and the scanner and printer have both been fine for this sort of work.Overall it is a good scanner and printer at a reasonable price.

All-in-one printers are now amazing value for money. There is, of course, a catch - the profit is made in the ink cartridges and the printers themselves are almost given away; one set of high capacity cartridges will cost you more than the printer itself. You can of course save money by using 3rd party ink cartridges - generally, I've found these to work fine but I haven't tried them out on this printer.Having said that, you get a lot of hardware for your money with the XP-422. Setting it up with my Mac was relatively straightforward but I did have to enter my wi-fi password manually - not a difficult operation but hardly plug and play. From then on, everything was fine.Black and white printing is fast and crisp and colour printing on glossy photo paper produced clear, accurate colours although not quite up to the standard of my Canon Pixma printer which uses 6 as opposed to 4 colour cartridges - blacks were not as black so the overall image lacked the punch of the Canon. There is nothing really wrong with this printer, it is neat and appears well made and is excellent value for money. My only hesitation is the cost of the Epson cartridges and as I have not had an opportunity to try out 3d party cartridges I can not tell whether they are a viable option.

This is review of Epson Expression Home XP-442 model. As someone who is not really good with printer and installing equipment I find this one super easy to use without hassle of actually connecting it to the computers. It works through WiFi so it can be used with practically any device in the house: desktop computers, laptops, netbooks, tablets, phones. I have tried printing from my desktop Windows computer and from my mother’s laptop, no problem. It takes a few minutes to warm up when it is only switched on but that is not a big problem. The print quality is good, it works with all kind of size and types of paper, from regular one to photo paper. To make things better there is no need of computer to print the photos. They can be printed straight from SD camera card if needed. The display is clear to read and it can change the angle for easy viewing.Except for the printer the Epson Expression Home XP-442 can be used as scanner or copier. Again, no computer involvement is necessary, files can be saved straight to the SD card.Must have gadget at home, especially when you have kids and need to print out homeworks and their crafty creations. It would also work great in home office.

I've been using an Epson Printer for the past 10 years, the same printer and never had any problems with it, so having recently moved and left the printer behind, my intention had been to replace with another Epson, and this has not disappointed at all. It's smaller and more compact, lighter too but I have no issues with it's build quality. It feels sturdy enough to withstand normal household usage- I'm not going to be moving it around especially as it's got WiFi capability. My son has set it up with no difficulty whatsoever to print from both my laptop and his PC and the print quality is as clear and precise as I would expect from a home printer.Scanning works and loading ink is exactly thesame as my old printer with step by step instructions on screen if needed.Too soon to say how quickly the inks will last, buying ink is always rather biggest bugbear for me, so will update my review in due course.I really only use this for printing emails and documents, for scanning documents to file and my son uses it for printing off homework so for that usage I would highly recommended this printer for its compact size, smart appearance and ease of use.Sorry, can't comment on printing photos.

So far I've been very pleased with my Epson printer.. which I bought to replace my 10 year old predecessor (as it had become really unreliable)This printer has loads of great features and connectivity options - wifi and cloud printing support mean I can connect phones iPads laptops from anywhere in order to easily printIt also has USB cable and ad card connections if wifi isn't good for youAs others have said, the only drawback to this (and modern printers in general) is the relatively expensive printer ink costs.. which aren't really avoidable in my opinion). Having said that this printer does come with a range of printing options to help save/reduce ink consumption..for example "draft" and grey scale printing options - which can really helpOverall I am very happy with this printer - its very capable for the price

This is a great little printer/scanner for the money. I have always bought Epson printers and have found them to be great little workhorses for basic printing and posters. I have had a problem connecting Wi Fi with my last one which was the XP 412 but I think that it was due to my slow connection. I connected it up via the USB cable and had no trouble with it. Once set up and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to do it then it is plain sailing. The only reason that I have bought the newer version is because I have invested in a new PC and decided to push the boat out and buy a new Epson printer to go with my new PC. The XP -412 is still going strong and the compatible inks are as cheap as chips. What more could you ask for, maybe some vinegar to go with the chips!

Printer was delivered a day early. This is my 2nd Epson printer - having had my first one the WF5260 for nearly 8 years and I must say I am pretty well pleased with this smaller version.Having read previous reviews they did leave me somewhat sceptical as to problems they had encountered in setting up the printer however, I had no problems at all. I just unwrapped, plugged in, followed the set up instructions and hey presto - printer in full working mode. As I don't have a laptop I did not use the software disc but at this moment I don't see the need for it and if I do then I will search online for anything needed.Very pleased with this product and would definitely recommend.

I use laptops all the time and don't have a home 'office' where I have a printer set up for instant printing. I therefore came to the conclusion that if I replaced my old Epson printer/scanner/copier with something more svelte and Wireless, I could keep it downstairs in the bottom of my HiFi cabinet for instant use. This model is much smaller and lighter than the one it has replaced and I am delighted with it. When I now need to print, rather than get the old one out from under the stairs, unpack it and get it all plugged in on the dining room table, I can now fire up the new one and within 45 seconds I can print from anywhere in the house.

Very good in general. The initial cartridges don't last very long, but you can get very cheap ones after market... Also one small con I could say, is the keypad. I would prefer it with proper buttons, rather than the plastic on top. But then again, this is something personal and probably that's too much to ask for the price(i got it for £45). I don't like HP's products and since the after sale service in the U.K. for Samsung printers is not the best, I thought I would give Epson a try. All in all, very honest product for the price. Recommend it!

review for the Epson XP442 - bought as replacement for 8 year old EPSON that finally died after years of abuse by children. - This printer is just the job. Incredible price. Set up is straight forward - you do not need the any instructions. - Easy to set up to home wifi and up and running within 5 minutes from opening the box. - print from any device / by email from anywhere. - cartridges are expensive if you buy epson originals but my previous one i used 3rd party cartridges at 1/10 of the price from the word go and had no problems.

Just what I needed for a wireless printer and more. Very safely packed. And so easy to set-up in no time. Comes with ink so can get started right away. Had no problem connecting with the wifi like I did with another printer previously. Very solid and robust design. I love how there's a readout on a small screen on the front. Tried printing by the wifi option and it worked seamlessly. So far the copies look just as good as the originals. Now that's not bad at all. Just what I wanted and need in a printer. Highly recommend.

Had this a few months now. I'm a technophobe so husband had to set it up, but once set up I find it easy to use for scanning and printing and changing ink cartridges. Was disappointed when I had to run head cleaning after the 1st week of use as uses up a lot of ink, but haven't had to run head cleaning every week. Would not risk using compatible inks as have ruined similar printers in the past over time using compatibles. Original inks are expensive and have worked out it costs approx. 17p per page to print

Bought this printer to replace the Epson 412 version I had. Really easy to set up, print quality great on normal, though seemed a bit pale on the economy setting but still readable. I love it just as much as my old printer (which I used pretty much every day for two years until I broke the paper feed...) BUT I deducted a star as the black ink cartridge ran out really quickly, noticeably faster than my old printer. Perhaps the cartridges that came with the printer are only half filled!!

Compact printer with a good number of functions for the price.Works well from tablet and mobile though was a bit on the slow side from the PC.The multi colour cartridges are slightly fiddly to change but that is really a minor quibble. The wireless aspect is a real boon and this is top quality printing at a bargain price.Definitely above entry level and at an affordable price.Ink cartridge replacement is economical.Epson is a top printing name and this is a top product.
