My order arrived within a few days in the box you see in the picture which was abit of a surprise as there was no outer brown box, I must have missed that bit of info when ordering but it's something to be aware of especially if you're not going to be in & your safe drop spot is visible by passers by...The printer itself is a beauty very nice looking as printers go & not oversized compared to a lot of other makes,I found the set up very easy & was online within minutes, I did download the HP app before I started so unsure if that made a diffrence, the only thing that stopped me in my tracks for a few minutes was the paper tray, I couldn't find it..! & when I did I didn't pull it out far enough, but I soon figured it out, I guess I was being abit careful incase I pulled the tray of or something,BTW, the paper tray is at the front of the printer & slides out from the bottam.. ( looking face on) ... I hope this helps others who may have problems locating the paper tray..The paper does not come with the printer but the ink does, & there's also a option for a subscription for 12mths of HP instant ink which I think is pretty Awesome , 15 pages per mth is free, & if you need abit more than 15 pages then there's a small fee of 1 pound/$1 for an extra 10 pages, the first 3mths is free of charge if you sign up for this offer within 7days of activating your printer, there are other plans with more pages like 1.99p/$1.99 for 50 pages per mth, this one allows a roll over of any unused pages,& also like the free plan you can pay $1 etc for the extra 10 pages, there are increased prices depending on which plan you chose & you can change this at anytime, I chose the free plan to start with as I really do not know how much I print out in a mth so no doubt il be changing it,Also the printer will send for more ink when your printer is low on ink & this will be delivered by post with options of disposing of your empty ink cartridges,I would deffo recomend this printer it is the best printer I've had & for me I found its very easy to set up & use albeit with slight confusion of finding the paper tray....lol...

As with all printers, whether this turns out to be the right one for you depends on what and how often you print. What I would say in general about this Envy is that it has a pleasing design with sleek rounded lines and should fit under a standard computer/printer table as it is not so tall as older models. The paper loader is tucked way under the body of the machine and the tray folds away when not in use. It has a screen outlining the basic functions and menus which is handy, but it is a little small for a touchscreen. The key issue for many will be the set up. HP promise you can be going in two minutes!! As usual this is an exaggeration and whilst loading the software is easy, connectivity was an issue for me. Achieving compatibility between the printer and my Laptop was a major job even though I knew all the relevant passwords. If you do have this problem, the help offered by the printer's software is pretty standard and states the obvious rather troubleshoots the difficulty. The other big question will be much you use the printer. HP offer you the option of a 4 month free trial if you sign up to their Instant Inks scheme, but this requires that you allow them to monitor you device and to give your credit card details in advance. If you are happy to do this you have three user options from 50 sheets a months at 1.99 to 100 sheets at 3.49 and finally 7.99 for 300 sheets a month. The ink then arrives at your door before your monthly allowance expires. This is not a bad deal if you print consistently the same quantities and in low volume, but if you have a lot of printing to do or don't want to be tied to a regular financial commitment, then you may want to pass.Print quality is excellent on regular paper and for photos, and there is a quiet mode which is useful as on the normal setting it on the noisy side. The photocopying and scan functions work well and without fuss. All in all a good low volume all round printer which looks good and creates good quality images, but the high volume user needs to look elsewhere.

I previously had a Hp all in one printer so I am used to the set up but not the high ink prices . Typically I would run out of both cartridges at the most inconvenient time , when I needed to print something important and I would have to pay £50+ to refill or frequently I forget and my printer sits collecting dust and acting as a cat seat for a few months . Recently th old one has been doing the later .I'm not a high end user, just print for occasional things and if your looking for high volume printing I wouldn't suggest this model , but if your like me and an occassianl user this is good .It's very easy to set up if you have a smart phone, iPad or iPhone as you just use the app and need your wifi code .I love the wireless printing as I can print from my iPad from anywhere in the house . I haven't used the app on my computer so can't comment on how that works .Function wise it prints well enough for me and the scanner is adequate .The intriguing feature of this printer is the instant ink idea, I was a bit unsure of this thinking I might be getting fleeced and don't like the idea of signing to a subscription. However after looking into it it's not that bad, you get 4 months free with this and you can cancel at anytime so don't need to subscribe after .You only get 15 pages a month with the free subscription so you will be counting the paper. For subscribing the options are 50 pages a month in colour or mono for £1.99 or 100 pages for £3.49 so not too bad and I might see how I get on and subscribe to one of these lower end ones .Overall this printer is good enough , for a basic household easy to use and delivers good results . If your like me and an occasional user who doesn't want something to obtrusive I would recommend it , the printer package isn't as bad as I thought and means that I'm more likely not to run out of ink again , but my cat loses another bed for a while .Price wise I think it's ok, probably more competitive models out but I love the wireless function and ease of printing .

I ran the installer (not as administrator) on a laptop using Windows 10 with all of the updates. I don't know if that caused all of the problems or not. I discovered the printer and printed the alignment page. Then the display on the printer said "waiting for ink choice". I clicked on continue on the laptop and the installer hung. I searched for a resolution, but only found issues where the installer stopped when trying to print the alignment page. I stopped the installer through task manager. I followed some of the instructions in the problem with the installer and the alignment page. That is, I turned off the printer, plugged it into a sockect (and not the surge protector),turned the printer backk on and took out the ink cartridges and put them back in. I restarted the installer on the laptop and this time I right clicked and ran as administrator. This time the installer said the cartridges were not installed. I had had a lot of trouble getting the cartridges in. Cartridges were very easy to install on my HP photosmart, but not on the HP ENVY 5030. So, I found a YouTube video that showed how to insert the cartridges. You don't do it like the HP Photosmart. You just slide the cartridge in easily, then pull down the clip. Then the installer continued and said it couldn't discover the printer. It had discovered the printer and wifi the first time I ran it. I turned off the printer and reboot the laptop. I turned the printer back on and started the installer as administrator. This time the installer discovered the printer and recognized that the ink cartridges were installed. After all of this, I was actually able to print and copy. The quality is much better than the HP Photosmart. Also, the paper feed is much better. The HP Photosmart wrinkled the paper about 50% of the time. It looks like HP has fixed that problem. The paper goes in straight as well. I did not select Instant Ink because there were a lot of negative reviews about it. My printer is still printing with the original cartridges.

Generally very good . Set up instructions /cartridge changing etc are online or via the app. The demo videos in the app did not play when pressing the play button but didn’t really need them.Bit unusual that the detailed set up instructions don’t come with the paperwork but if you use the app you don’t need anything .Easy to set up using the app . The app guides you through the whole set up process including the automatic ink reordering which is a brilliant idea and one of the reasons I opted for this printer.I’m doing the free 15 pages per month as a very light user . Very good plans available and will save a lot of money as the genuine cartridges are usually expensive.Good quality printing and very quiet.Auto firmware updates if you leave printer on all the time - it goes to sleep when not in use .I’m using iOS and iMac and was able to print straight away from iMac or iPhone directly and via the app without any issues .I did get an error message saying Bluetooth not strong enough during set up but the process worked after a few seconds . I did a manual firmware update via the printer screen and afterwards got a message that my auto ink subscription was cancelled !I used the support pages to do a live chat and got through to someone straight away who told me everything was ok and to ignore the message . Later on I got another message on the printer screen that subscription was all ok.So - easy to set up and connect to WiFi via router.Good app .Good ink reordering system.Very good support via live chat.Good quality quiet printing.Great price on prime day deal .Very pleased and would recommend.

The setup is actually quite straightforward. The problem is that HP seem to confuse the issue as to how to get started by having a one set of instructions fit all (devices/countries) I downloaded the HP app (as per HP instructions) and it advised me to connect the printer directly to Ethernet. Bit tricky as it only has a USB port. Forget all that. The easiest way in the UK (I found) is to connect the printer to your computer via USB (temporarily). Then download and install the app on the computer. The app will now find the USB connected printer. You can then follow the instructions from the app (or on the printer itself). Once complete, the printer will be connected via wi-fi and no longer need the USB connection.HP clearly want/need the printer connected to the internet so they can monitor the ink levels and send you ink as necessary via their Instant ink program. I had no intention of giving HP my credit card details (I was going to use the HP Instant Ink prepaid card available on Amazon) but it turns out that they accept paypal and I am happy with that. I now have 2 months free printing (with this HP Envy 5010) and after that £1.99 per month for 50 pages (rolled over twice so you can have 150 pages in one month). You can print to the printer from anywhere using an email address (they call it ePrint). I neither need or want this but you can turn it off in the 'Web Service Settings' in the printers 'Web services' menu. But don't remove web services altogether if you want to use the HP Instant Ink service.

I bought this HP Envy 5010 printer after I gave up on my previous printer. I specifically chose this printer because it has print (colour/black), copy and scan functions. It has a very useful touchscreen which lets you scroll through the options and settings; no more guessing what flashing letters and numbers mean! It can print double-sided with an automatic duplex function (rather than manually turning the page and re-inserting into the printer). So far everything works as it should.Setup was easy on my Android mobile but a lot more long winded on my laptop; downloading and installing the software and drivers seems to take a lot longer than necessary (especially in 2019!).The HP Instant Ink was the most interesting part for me.Over the decades of using printers, I have become increasingly frustrated with cartridges; they always cost so much, dry up if not used frequently enough, re-filling is messy and a hassle, and re-manufactured cartridges are temperamental. So HP Instant Ink seems a good solution for me. The 2 months free trial is only for the paid options (the free option is not included). So I went for the £1.99 a month option for 50 pages, which is ideal for my household. The 2 month free trial is applied automatically and lets you print up to 300 pages each month. You can then add zw26Q for 1 extra month and FREEINK for 1 more month; so 4 months in total. So far I am really impressed!

Mine installed smoothly out of the box. Use the HP website recommended in the instructions, and on the printer touch screen, it has all you need to know, and includes software downloads (see below). I use the printer on my home WIFI network/router, and it picked up the WIFI with no problem. I print to it from a laptop Windows 10 PC and multiple Chromebooks. The PC does not need to be switched on to print from Chromebooks or mobile devices, the printer is genuinely standalone WIFI. HP provide a free Chrome extension for Chromebooks and PC (I use Chrome browser on the PC) and an app for other devices, which enable easy local printing and/or you can add the printer to Google Cloud printing. You can email items to the printer for remote printing (the printer has its own email address etc). There is also free HP PC software to provide the link for scanning. You can copy cheerfully in standalone mode using the touch screen on the printer. Downsides? Paper tray 'seems' a touch flimsy, but works fine. (I'll tell you later if it is long-term robust!.) HP offer/push their ink replenishment subscription service, but you can (I did) choose not to use this on set-up and continue to buy cartridges elsewhere, you can subscribe any time. Speed, and print quality are as advertised and very adequate for my home office needs. Cost of printer and ink cartridges seem reasonable to me, but maybe not everybody.

We've had this printer for a few days. We bought it so as to print directly from our iPads without having to copy files or photos to the PC to print. Just a few comments which might be useful for others. Not sure if it's mentioned here, but there is an HP Smart app for your mobile device (in our case, iPhone and iPad). However, what the instruction book doesn't tell you is that the app need iOS 11 to work. our iPads are old, so don't have this. I wondered if there was an earlier version but this was not offered from the App Store until after I had installed the app on our iPhones, which are new! After that, back into the app store - attempt to download again and I was offered 'would you like to instal the latest compatible version'?You don't actually need the app anyway in order to print (this is not apparent from the documentation).I also couldn't see how to change the paper size as it isn't an option from the home page of the touch screen. It was only when I actually changed the paper and closed the paper drawer that this option was on screen.Printing photos. If your photo to be printed is not exactly the same aspect ratio as the paper you are using, you will lose some of the photo as it prints to the edges of the paper. You will need to use 'fit to page' - easy from the app.Hope my comments are useful for someone!

I have had this printer now for over a year and it performs reasonably well for a cheap home printer. The double sided printing is a challenge for more than the first page as it keeps jamming. No amount of re-setting, software updating or other remedial methods seems to work (I’m by no means alone here, judging by the numerous complaints). Wireless set up not very intuitive or straightforward. Needed to find software to download to my laptop without any instructions from HP.Wireless printing is more stable than with my previous Canon printer and works well with iPhone. According to reviews of other brands, they all seem problematic with setup so HP is not unique here. All in all reasonably satisfied with this low cost printer. The best thing is that I can print images onto plain paper, which the Canon or others with two tray systems do not allow. My Canon would insist on printing jpgs from the photo tray and was looking for photo paper with no choice for me to choose the other tray - most infuriating as I did not wish to print screen grabs and the like to the photo tray it would default to and I needed to turn everything into pdfs first to print on plain paper- a real faff. This little printer does what I tell it to do and after the initial set up saga, I have warmed to it. You could do much worse than buying this.

With this printer, I think I've found something magical. A printer I don't want to throw out of the window. The set up was pretty easy and a good thing about this, is that it doesn't need to be physically connected to your devices. You just download the free app on your phone, or on the windows store, make sure you're connected to the same wifi network on both the printer and your device and boom, you're ready to go.I think the best thing about this printer though, is that it doesn't need extra space to print. So there's no weird paper tray that comes out vertically, or anything like that. It has a very small piece of plastic that slots into the front of the machine, that swivels out and you're ready to print.I can still have my keyboard, desk tidy etc on top of the printer as it prints. The downside is that it is large, no matter what it says on the product page, this is not compact. It might be decently small vertically, but the square cm area of this thing is pretty big.I'm just a home user, so print quality isn't something I really care about, it seems fine to me and does what it needs to do. Print speed is pretty quick if you're only doing black and white and it turns on and off quickly. Best thing is, it just seems to work, over wifi anyway. I've never needed to plug it into my pc.

I bought this off the strength of a couple of reviews. The print quality is excellent and the ability to scan documents and send them (when this feature works) is really useful. What's good about it:Print quality in colour and B&W is excellent. The printing is quick and relatively quiet. It will print double-sided and it is not noisy. It scans documents well and then you can send them to a variety of devices using the app.The HP proprietary app, when it works, is fairly user friendly and does what you need it too. What's not good:I'm good with tech and out of the box the printer took a while to set up.The wifi connection is glitchy as hell and even now I have established it is temperamental at best, and often drops if the printer is idling. If you are scanning large documents more than 10 pages, you often have to do this in batches.Sometimes it just stops working for no reason. The app is nicely designed, but like the printer, is extremely temperamental and not particularly intuitive. It's an ugly piece of black, Chinese made, plastic sitting at the end of my kitchen table. Doesn't affect the performance, but it is not pretty to look at!I haven't changed the ink yet, but looking at some of the reviews and prices of ink I can tell this is going to be an expensive faff!

Ive had this printer for several months now, the print quality for me is great. I'm mainly just print documents and not photos. I was lucky that I had 12 months instant ink included meaning I had a great deal. The instant ink with HP works great, when your ink is running low you are automatically sent new cartridges, so you always have a continuous supply of ink which is great and don't have to worry about ordering any. You are also able to monitor how many pages you have printed through the HP instant ink website. Printing is fast if you are only printing in black and white ink. The Paper tray can hold a lot of paper (approx 50 pages), far more than any other HP inkjet printers I've had in the past which is really handy. The scanner is really good too and fairly quick however you can only scan 1 page at a time, so took me sometime to scan a 200 page document. If you can get instant ink for several months like I did this printer is a great deal, as the ink alone supplied through instant ink will cover the cost of the purchase of the printer. Just look at for when they are doing a deal. My tip would be to save this printer to your wish list and keep checking back regularly to see when they are offering at least 6 months free instant ink.

It doesn't get a lot easier than this. Yes I'm good with Tech, but literally anyone who is careful can get this working really quickly.First of all make sure you are VERY close to it and your wifi when you set it up. It initially talks to your phone with bluetooth and its quite weak, then just follow the instructions and go through the registration process. The instant ink is an amazing idea, really good thinking of their marketing dept. A LOT of issues people has is using cheap crappy inks, so this solves that at a stroke, just sign up, get four months free, add Freeink code to get another free month and pick a free referral code (all these codes people are GIVING away in their reviews are actually friend referral so they benefit as well as you, nothing wrong with that but not many people are being honest about them, so to make sure my review is unbiased I'm not even going to publish mine.I've only had it a day, so this is only first impressions, but they are good so far. I've signed up for the £1.99 a month package which is probably all I will even need, I don't print a great deal these days, there is even a total free package for the VERY low users (it's not highlighted very well, but it is there)

Had a problem installing this printer. I wanted to use it wirelessly from various devices, and (preferably plugged) into my desktop PC. The PC is hard-wired to the router. And the PC doesn't have a wifi adaptor card.So the HP installation notes are scanty - they simply say switch the printer on, then go to 123.hp.com to install it. About the second thing this app says is, that it can't cope with my PC being wired to the router, and that I should change to wireless connection. Can't, no wifi adaptor in the PC! I could complete the installation ok with the printer plugged into the PC, but that disabled the printer's wifi so nobody else could access it.After a few hours head-scratching,and fruitless searched of HP's website, I discovered that it was easy to install it using the touch screen on the printer itself. That worked perfectly and bypassed all the problems. Now very pleased with the printer, and have signed up for 'Instant Ink' which seems a very good deal. However, I was pretty annoyed at the very large sticker on the lid, advertising the Instant Ink deal. When I pulled the sticker off we had a devil of a job getting the glue residue off the surface.
