I bought this printer 2 weeks ago. It was extremely easy to set this up especially if you have a Windows 10 PC and have installed the HP Smart App from Windows store. I would VERY STRONGLY suggest that you view the videos on HP's website regarding how to set up the printer and insert the ink cartridges that come along with the printer.IMPORTANT: I made a rookie mistake when I was setting up the printer and signed up to their Instant Ink plan (Free Plan) straight away as this was recommended during the set up process. When I signed up to the Free Plan, the ink cartridges that were included with the box were automatically converted into instant ink cartridges and any page I printed was counted towards my free monthly usage (15 pages). This was because the ink cartridges that were included were 'HP Instant Ink Ready'. By signing up to their Free plan, I effectively authorised HP to use these cartridges towards the monthly count. After 3 calls with their somewhat supportive Tech, I was told that I can't go back using the free cartridges unless I cancel the Free Instant Ink plan which will take effect from the next billing cycle. I could only print a maximum of 15 pages without incurring any charge. Once the cancellation has gone through, I can continue printing using the free cartridges until they ran out of ink and can then sign up to the Instant Ink plan again. I was advised to do that by the first 2 tech support ladies who were a bit rude (maybe due to taking increased and numerous calls during the lockdown). Anyway, the 3rd guy I spoke with told me instead to sign up for one of their paid plans because the printer came with 2 months trial. So if you sign up to £1.99 instant ink plan, you would get 2 months free (i.e. 50 pages a month). There were a lot of useful reviews in this website where the users provided the referral code. I randomly used one of them and got 1 more month free. So I could use their Occasional Printing Plan for free for 3 months. If you wish to then go back to the Free Plan at the end of 3 months, you can call the tech support and ask them to make this change (you WONT be able to do that online).Back to the printer itself: It is a bit noisy but there is a Quiet Mode that you can use to reduce the noise level to some extent. The print quality is absolutely superb. Both b/w and colour pages look crisp and vibrant. I bought this for my 5yo who is being home schooled during the lockdown and this printer is proving to be very useful. You could print on both the sides but this is done manually. You select the option 'Print on both sides' and wait for the 1st side to be printed, there will be a pop up notification asking you to click on Continue when you have turned the page over and inserted it back on the tray for the 2nd side to be printed. The printer is very light and compact and fits neatly in a small space / desk next to the computer. I think along with the instant ink plan at £32 that I paid for this printer, this was a neat bargain. After I ordered, the estimated shipping was 1 month from the date of the order (I was expecting this to be delivered on 4th May), but Amazon got some fresh stock in their warehouse and thankfully I got this delivered within a week. Great job Amazon. As mentioned above, if you are signing up to the instant ink plan, you could use a referral code to get 1 additional month with your free trial. Here's my referral code: RBjCz

Compact printer primarily purchased for my daughters schoolwork and regular photographic printing.Comes with starter inks and was relatively straightforward to set up using my iPhone by following the supplied link and downloading the Hp Print app via the App Store. For anyone struggling to find the 3 months free instant ink trial code like I did, the code is not found on the packaging or the literature, it is actually supplied during the printer setup process. Since there are plenty of reviews for the actual item already and pretty sparse info regarding the instant ink side of things, I'll concentrate more on that for anyone else struggling to understand it as I did.Once you use the Hp printapp to run through the initial wireless setup and click on the "Start you free instant ink trial" banner it will lead you to the hpconnected page. There you create an hp account and it guides you through the instant ink setup process whereby at a certain point it asks you to press the wireless button on the printer and this automatically prints out an information sheet which includes an individual promotional code which is unique to your individual printer. The code comes in the form of an email address [email protected] is this code that makes up the first part of the email address (everything before the @ sign) that you input into the promo code bar when registering for the instant ink programme. I have inserted an image that displays this for anyone still unsure.I also used two additional promo codes while registering which gave me an additional 3 months free instant ink, so 6 months in total. For anyone who'd like to do the same and take advantage of the extra months, the codes I used are nWLq9 and 2MONTHSDJUK.The only other important thing to note with regard to the instant ink trial is that it has to be completed within 7 days of the initial printer setup. I honestly questioned wether or not to do this however when looking at prices for the XL ink cartridges which print approx 300 pages and the £7.99 comparable monthly cost for 300 pages it seemed good value. Having the additional 3 months free use was a major factor also because I can now sample the instant ink service for 6 months for free before deciding wether to continue with a subscription service or not.Having just set up my printer I am awaiting delivery of my first set of inks so obviously can't comment on the service itself but once I have used it for a period of time I may update this review just to write more on that specifically as it was one of the biggest selling points for me to have the free ink trial and I couldn't find many helpful reviews regarding the pros and cons surrounding that specifically.Overall, I'm happy with the printer so far and eager to see how the instant ink programme rates when being used regularly.

What a great little Printer/scanner/copier for the office and the 3 month free instant ink becomes 5 months when you use the codes gGFLP and FREEINK. For the price this Printer is cheaper than a set of Cartridges on my old Noisy Canon. Its easy to set up, just plug in and set up the printer, install ink cartridges, download the software from HP then initially plug in the USB cable so it recognises the Printer via the PC. Its all seamless and tells you its found the printer and then at the end you can download the software and drivers with ether basic or full options. Once you have the printer recognised on the Network then all other PCs Laptops etc will recognise it without a USB cable as long as you download the software,There is a useful HP App for Apple or Android and that just recognises it as well. The Printer is fairly quiet and very compact, Nice colour accent as well, Its typical plastic but for the price its all reasonable quality and works well. This is the 2nd HP printer we have with the Free Ink and for the initial period its worth maxing out the pages a month as its easy to change anytime to lesser and on our home one I reduced it after the free trial to 100 pages a month. The HP instant ink website gives you all the details right down to daily usage and even produces VAT invoices. Just bear in mind that if you cancel the Instant Ink later on the the cartridges they have sent you will not work and you will need to buy normal ones. The delivery is fast and efficient and they send you a set soon after you register so you have a spare set in the drawer and wont suddenly run out! I am quite an HP fan with their desktops in the office as well and another printer that lasted over 10 year! They are always reliable and well priced. The ink method might not suit everyone if you are a sporadic occasional printer but for most its great and for Photo enthusiasts or students its so cheap to print as you have the ability to print hundreds of A4 Colour Pages or photos every month for nothing for 5 months - The system is purely priced per sheet regardless of ink use so even when paying its only 2.7p per print. Hope that helps in a decision :-) I have has some poor experiences over the years with non brand cartridges and this avoids that risk.

I have another hp printer before I was given this one to try ,it's been registered with the instant ink programme at the £1.99 a month /50 pages option , during that time my ink has arrived before I've needed it and given high quality prints throughout .Looking back over my account I have used 2 xxl cartridges in black and 4 xxl cartridges in colur so you can work out the yearly savings yourself but I wouldnt go back to purchasing ink again . If you register the printer and opt for the free 15 page print plan (which I have with this one ) then your ink is free for the lifetime of the printer , The only thing to note is that there are updates printed occasionally and an alignment page each time you change the cartridge .These will come out of your allowance but the extra page packs are very cheap. This printer on first glance out of the box is a fairly small foot print but too big for my narrow 6 inch shelf so it sits on my desk beside my pc .The flatbed scanner is a good way to photocopy documents or pages from booklets/books etc with one button operation. In 600dpi printing the pages print quite fast but if you use photo quality 1200 dpi it can be a little slow if printing full A4 size, you can use this setting a lot though with instant ink and not worry about the print costs, it gives you that freedom. The printing is as high quality as my bigger printer but the print time is a lot slower for each page. The set up is very easy , you can network the printer to the router, use wifi (onboard the printer itself) or go old school and use a printer cable . You will need a cable to set it up with your pc and this is not provided in the box but I have several from previous machines .You can set it up with instant ink quickly online but again this is a choice and you can just use your own ink cartridges and skip this if thats how you want to use the printer.I,m very happy with the new ink delivery system and i pay less per year than I was previously spending on cartridges in fact less than one set would have previously cost.

The first version of this printer arrived with a smashed scan screen, obviously not Amazon's fault and they did handle the replacement very, very quickly. Amazingly there was no damage on the box but the screen was smashed to pieces. The second machine worked fine initially and we set up to get the ink delivered automatically. This seems to work quite well although the initial cartridges sent with the machine are virtually useless, printing very few pages and ran out before the next cartridges arrived. Replacement cartridges seem to take 4 days to arrive which can sometimes be a problem if you're on one of the higher page number plans. We had one problem with the internet connection and it tooka whole afternoon to resolve the problem - in the end it was only resolved by downloading some HP software that we accidentally found on the HP site. HP are not very good at support and diagnosis - the software that eventually solved the problem (somehow the machine got itself in a complete twist about connecting to our home network) was an initial install package that was not mentioned in any of the literature that came with the printer. The fact that this machine effectively has no control panel makes it quite difficult to work out what state it is in and what its problems are. In addition there is at least one icon which appears on the control panel but is not documented anywhere.Apart from all that it prints reasonably well, and time will tell if it is going to continue to be problematic or whether it will behave itself from now on - I would hate to have to spend another afternoon resolving another problem just because it is not good enough to do it itself. Some months later - the instant ink system is working very well now that it has settled down to my wife’s pattern of use and she is never without ink. We have had one other occurrence of the printer having gone awol from the Wi-fi network and it being difficult to resolve the problem but apart from that it does seem to work very well, the print quality is very good.

Now it's set up, it's a great little printer. Small and light to handle, the wifi works well.... cracking for the price. However the setting up of it was a nightmare. I went straight for the wifi set up, arguably I should have just plugged it in but I didn't, and just couldn't work it out. The instructions are non-existent and I eventually used the user guide download on here! It really should come with better instructions. A step by step guide would be really useful. It eventually worked, but I can't really say what steps to take for anyone else, it's just a matter of trying everything you see in the instructions. Annoyingly, following the (rubbish) instructions I set up the instant ink too soon,I should have done that after testing it all, now my test pages have come off the free 15 prints.I have the app set up on both Mac and Windows 10. The Win 10 laptop says the printer is offline even though it isn't, and the app on the MacBook knows it's online, but it still prints so I'll have to live with that.Printing photos direct from an iphone is brilliant, I truly love that. Make sure you use the HP app though because the functionality available is excellent.I don't like that you have to go over and press a button to wake it up to print, this is a pain when the printer is in another room. The instant ink service at the moment seems great. I rarely print anything in my home office so I'm sure the free option will be enough. Happy to upgrade to the £1.99 a month option too - it seems to be great value.TOP TIP - if you're going for the free option, you won't be able to use the codes for the free months. Once you join instant ink, you can upgrade or downgrade to the different paid for levels, but the free option is only available at the onset. You cannot downgrade to free once you've joined as a paid for - unless you, like so many others do, spam these comments with the code for more free months.

A lot reviews now, so what I can say about this all-in-one wireless printer?+ beautiful, compact, portable+ free printingFor the printer itself, the setup is quite straight following the instruction. The wireless connection is seen in your mobile immediately - no additional software required! What confuses many might be the HP Instant Ink plan. siouxsie had a very good review (top review) on how to obtain promotion codes and the way to set up your account.HP provides multiple plans to meet individual printing needs. For me, the beauty of HP Instant Ink is that it provides free printing up to 15 pages per month. Before making the decision, just ask yourself a question: do I need to print a lot?Not really as hard copy is rarely required nowadays! I have set it up for 6 months now, and found free 15 pages per month is OK for my family use. To be honest, I have only spent 1 pound for additional pages! This is amazing 'Pay As You Print': each additional set of 10 pages for just £1.00, and usefully, you could roll over these paid pages! Note however, you cannot roll over free pages. You could upgrade your plan anytime, very convenient.Though easy to print, copy and scan, I found it is very annoying to scan multiple pages to my computer if the printer is located in another room. The solution is to to scan documents from your mobile, either Android or iOS will do.1) Open the HP Smart app.2) Tap the Plus icon if you need to change to a different printer, or add a new printer.3) Tap 'scan to email', or you could choose 'camera scan to email' as seen in uploaded photos. One might complain that it has has no control panel. True, but with the smart mobile app, do we need a very sophisticated control panel? probably not anymore. At this price, the printer is a no brainier.

I've stayed with my ancient HP laserjet for about 20 years, but when it finally started giving up I thought I'd try this, reading other reviews I was worried, knowing I'd stayed with my old faithful for so long I saw struggles others seemed to have so I approached with caution. As soon as I opened the box the first thing I found was the easy as 123 guide. Follow those step by step and you wont have any problems. I did have a bit of a moment putting the cartridges in so I just clicked on the video in with the installation process to check I was putting them in correctly. You can pause and rewind as often as you like, so take your time and let the HP set up take you through. The only issue I had was when it opened my explorer browser to create an account,(I never use I.E) but for ease I created my login details and closed the window.I am glad I did, as when I was creating my printing plan, the captcha didn't like my slow connection and I spent a good 20 minutes looking at blurry squares to prove I'm human, after 4 or 5 attempts I remembered I had created an account in IE, so I selected I already have an account (even thought at this point it was unconfirmed) and entered those log in details. So, if like me you have a slow, unreliable internet service create a HP account first if you do not already have one. From there it was all simple. Then I decided to try it on my phone, I've never connected a printer to my phone before, I installed the App and that was it, all working with no problems at all.Day 1, I am a very happy customer, and knowing how many decades my last HP printer served me for I am quite confident, this seems to be excellent value for money!

I have yet to buy a printer with WiFi which "just works" - every one has been a pain to setup and get going. This one is no exception, in fact I gave up trying and am now using it with USB cable. We never have issues with other devices on WiFi but printers seem to be the exception. As with other printers this one enters setup and "sight" occurs between printer and network but when you instruct them to connect they never do - even after waiting 5 minutes nothing. Repeat, same thing. So, USB cable in and it was working within a couple of minutes.Print quality on this is very very good, printing a high res camera shot in good quality photo paper gives excellent results - print speed is acceptable but not exceptional.I have not tried the HP app - it takes up too much space on my fairly elderly phone and wont install. The instant ink feature is a good one - but of course ensures that you buy branded carts which even with a discount will be more expensive than unbranded - thus HP selling the printer itself at (I would guess) a loss. If you want to use cheaper non-HP carts then obviously you can - but the instant ink features on the printer will then become an annoyance and I cant see how you turn them off.So, IF you can get it to work on WiFi or IF you have a way to connect via USB and IF you plan to use branded HP carts throughout the printers lifetime, then this is going to be good for you. But IF any of those IFs are not true then you may want to think twice.

Set up and software installation were hassle free.Step 1: Remove the blue tape holding the front closed and remove the blue tape securing the printer cartridge holders.Step 2: Plug the power cable in the back of the printer and switch on at the wall.Step 3: Switch on the power button on the printer.Step 4: Click the ink cartridges into place (black right, colour left).Step 5: Go to 123.hp.comFollow the set up instructions.Choose InstantInk option - because, why wouldn't you want 3 months of free ink??On the recommendation of other purchasers, I chose the 300 page option for the free 3 month trial to get the maximum benefits from the free offer. On the final page before subscription, there was a "Special Offers (Optional)" box in which I entered:FREEINK for an additional 1 month free andlN7PW (the first letter is a lower case L) for an further 1 month free.It didn't appear as if the codes had worked until I looked in the bottom right hand corner of the pop up window to see a list of the free months:3 months free trialFREEINK 1 month freelN7PW 1 month freeFive free months of ink (1500 pages printed colour pages) and an excellent printer all for less than £30!? It cost more than that for one XL cartridge with my old HP printer.I can highly recommend this printer and the InstantInk option.

got this new printer. was worried as seen other people's review about the cons on this printer. Set up by using the apps on my iPhone was not easy, to be honest it's annoyed. Changed to use my MacBook to find the printer was great as it's all automatic! The printing part was acceptable to me, as people said it's too noisy but you need to remember the whole printer is just a piece of light plastic so the 'sound proof' of course won't be as good as those big bulky printer! The quality of printer out was good too. I only wanted to print some documents out not printing photographs so there's nothing to worry about the usage of ink.I searched on amazon again and made sure that I can always get the replacement ink cartridge for this printer and they are not as expensive as the other hp printers (I owned 2 hp printers before getting this one and those two costed thousands to get replacement ink!) and it's like you can always get them (it's not limited on stock), therefore I don't even need to think about joining their endless ink program - just buy one when I need it from amazon will do, easy! To conclude, this is a good tiny light printer and will do what it supposed to do, far better than the old big printer I had before. However, it's has the noise and also it's light plastic case, therefore, 4 stars!!

I kid you not instant ink was NOT easy to set up. But a huge reason for why I wanted this printer and service. I really struggled to enable the web server (you will only understand this if you go through this process) and this service needed to be enabled for me to be enrolled onto instantink. I spoke to someone on live chat on the instant ink site, they referred me to FB messenger and they couldn't help me either. They tried to get me to call in. Safe to say they weren't very helpful at all. Somehow I was able to get it to work. But then another issue occurred! The unique claim code printed in German and the code wasn't valid (the one that's supposed to give you 2 months of instant ink).HP on messenger told me to wait until tomorrow. I had no patience just wanted it done so I used codes wFfQZ and FREEINK for 2 MONTHS. Those worked out for me. If you plan on getting this and managing to make your unique code work, input these in too for an extra 2 months. Also, the plan doesn't start till they send you out the actual instant ink cartridges. The ones that the printer already comes with aren't instant ink cartridges? So there's no limit on that. (I wish I knew this when I was looking at reviews).I will update this later along the line to say how I feel about this printer.

Very impressed with the instant print system. Paying per page means you know exactly the cost of printing. This comes with 2 months free instant print, but you can boost this with the codes FREEINK and nZBBg which each give an extra month - so a total of 4+ months free ink (codes worked for us in August 2018)! We went for the 300 page plan, and we'll simply decide on the appropriate plan at the end of the free trail period depending on our use.Update: I liked my parent's set up so much I brought a printer for uni! This is a decent printer for basic needs. It has a scan/copy function and connects to the wifi easily enough. The instant ink scheme is a great value way to buy ink for many because it charges per page, not by the ink used. So if you print lots of colour images, for example, this way of buy ink works out substantially cheaper. Plus you can get an extra month free with this code try.hpinstantink.com/nZBBga further 2 free months if you also add the code FREEINK (these codes are added as you set up your instant ink account and are in addition to 2 months free that come with the printer - this gives an amazing 5 months free ink for up to 600 colour pages!). Had the printer several months and it has handled my university printload easily.

If you want free months of ink use the code ZVBns when signing up for the HP Instant Ink program. You will enter this code on the last page right before checking out.The printer so far is pretty good. The print quality is good for moderate users but I would not recommend for professional use. Print speed is quick enough for me. I've enrolled in the instant ink program using the code ZVBns and got 4 months of free ink on the business printing plan (up to 700 pages per month). With this plan I also get a spare set of ink cartridges which is great in case I ever run out I don't have to wait for the new ones to arrive from HP. I haven't received my instant ink cartridges from HP yet but will update when I do.Some reviews have been complaining about set-up.It is a decently lengthy process but was easy. It wouldn't work through my mobile app though, I had to use my laptop. The sending documents via the printer email address to print documents is very handy. My printer stays connected to the WiFi without issues. So far this is a good printer and I would definitely recommend to low to moderate volume users. Great for every day use at home and work from home.Definitely much easier to have a printer at home while working from home due to covid!
