was a bit nervous about trying henna but i was fed up with having to cut my hair from the effects of chemical dye. i used this shade a i normally go for a bright red. i have medium length hair so i used 2 packs the first tie as i also had a lot of grey roots. mixing was easy - it can be messy if you are not used to it and yes it smells awful ( every time i wash it the smell returns while its wet!!) the instructions are straight forward and i used a cake mixing bowl mixed it with just boiled water to the consistency of a cake mix, left it to cool then with gloves on - yes everything will be dyed if you touch it - put this on my hair a bit like a hair mask. it does take some getting used to,the thickness and weight of the mixture if you are not used to it can be awkward and messy. dont bother with a paintbrush, just get your hands in and do it that way.i manged it without too much mess luckily, took about 20 mins to fully cover my hair, then i wrapped in cling film and stole my sons beanie hat to keep the heat in.i left it on for 5 hours to be honest the weight was killing my neck.washing it off was messy but no messier than chemical dye. the result really surprised me - this green mud had turned my grey roots a nice deep copper colour - the rest however looked ginger, so i wasn't thrilled, i had one pack left so after 24 hours i repeated on the roots and ends and now its a deep red/copper. i would be using the brand again but not this colour, for me its too gingery. im going to try the auburn next and hope to go a little darker red.i must mention though , if like me you have bleached bits and are trying to use henna to improve the hair condition. when washing it, the bleached ends feel awful, like a rats nest, its only improved if i add loads of conditioner.

I'm giving this 5 stars because I just used it and it does what it says on the box.I have naturally black Asian hair which was chemically dyed by my hairdresser. Unfortunately, my hair turned out too light for my liking, and there was an orange/reddish tone which I hated. And, also, unfortunately, I suffered an allergic reaction to the PPD in the chemical dye. Hence, my only option for colouring my hair now is with henna.I have tried Lush Caca Noir twice to darken my hair. The first time gave ok results with slightly darker hair (but definitely nowhere near black), but it started to fade within a few days. The second time didn't change my hair colour at all, even though I left it on for 5 hours!I would say that my hair was back to my "original" (chemically treated) colour within a month.Today I tried the Henné Colour Noir (Black) and left it on for 4 hours, even though the packaging says 2 hours. I don't know if the extra time was necessary, but I was desperate to make this work! And it did! After the first application, my hair is not 100% black, but it is very close! I'm very happy with the colour - it is almost black with a faint touch of brown, probably from my previous highlights. Even though I know the colour might fade after several shampoos, at least I now know of a product which will colour my hair black until I can grow it out and go back to my natural colour. The product itself is also really easy to prepare (unlike the Lush Caca Noir) - simply mix the powder with very hot water.Overall, I'm very happy with this product, especially when compared to the Lush Caca Noir. I would definitely use it again, although hopefully it won't be too soon!

I tried this product out yesterday.I have naturally not quite blonde enough to be blonde but not quite brown enough to be brown hair. I was hoping this would bring me to the blonde end of the spectrum - it didn't. However, there was a small effect, some strands have gone more bronze in colour but it isn't a noticeable colour change. What is noticeable however, is how my hair feels and looks. My hair looks healthier, shinier and feels lighter and bouncier and for that I think this is worth a try.I've attached pictures, the first is before I used the henna and the second is 24 hours after using the henna. In both pictures I have no product on my hair.I mixed the sachet with:150ml hot chamomile tea100ml heated milkThe juice of 1 lemonI let the mix rest for one hour in a glass bowl with some cling film on top. While that was doing it's thing I washed my hair with shampoo only, and let it air dry. Once my hair was dry I applied vaseline to my hairline and neck. Then I applied the henna to my dry hair, taking small strands and applying the henna with my hands, root to tip (with gloves) and wrapping the piece into a bun on the top of my head, which stays in place because of the henna. Then I just kept wrapping each finished piece over this bun until all of my hair was covered.I read that if you wrap your hair in cling film, it increases the red tones. I did not want this effect, so I just used a large claw grip to hold my hair up. Then I wiped away the vaseline. All done, for two hours I did housework while that was getting to work on my hair. Once I had a nice and tidy home, I washed the henna out of my hair in the shower with shampoo.

quite pleased with the natural copper/orange tone and dazzling shine. hair feels thicker and healthier. the product is 100% natural and really benefits hair. the smell is better than i have expected and is more than tolerable. yes, it is a bit messy and harder to apply comparing to chemical diyes but totally worth it.a couple of things i'd like to know before appying but couldn't find in the net:1. don't worry if the henna looks green in a container and greenish brown on your hair. once wased out you will get a nice bronze colour2. the brighter (more orange) you want your hair the longer you need to keep henna on. i was holding it for almost 2 hrs and got pretty orange colour which i was really looking forward to.3.if your hair has been diyed before - do not worry, nothing bad will happen. some articles say it turns green etc. well mine did not. the only trouble is - you will get a different color at your roots which is particularly visible if your roots are darker.some general tips:1. do not use metal container for mixing henna with water. only use glass or ceramic ones. metal can create chemical reaction which may alter pigment and result can be unexpected.2. always use gloves even if these are not provided in the set.3. add a cople drops of essential oils (i added argan oil) - makes it easier to apply & smells better4. when the henna is rinsed off use a bit of conditioner to untanle hair and take hidden crumbles of henna off.

I love this stuff. My grey-white hair makes me look like a proverbial granny. I love the Auburn/Dark Mahogany, which I am currently mixing with Mahogany. This is much nicer and much cheaper than chemical dyes (which can cause severe allergies), because you can take as little as you need. And if you find you have taken more than you needed, you'll still be able to use it a few days later, when you discover that spot that you missed, provided you keep the mixture a little bit moist and/or add a bit of water right before use.The photo on the left shows you my normal hair (after having tried a curling iron), the one in the middle shows you the effect of the Henné mix that I use and the one on the right shows you how the "brown" Henné version works out on my hair.I leave it in for 2 - 3 hours. (I have used a different henna brand in the past that I had to leave in overnight.)I use Elvive L'Oréal "6 precious flower oils" as conditioner after I have rinsed out the henna with water and with a very plain shampoo.

I love Henne and wished I had discovered it decades ago. I always knew of its existence but everyone that I knew used it had the very coppery colour which I did not like. Then as grey hairs appeared a friend explained the different colours and that the chestnut will cover grey and can be covered again with the brown which is a dark brown. My hair is naturally frizzy and dry, or it was. Not anymore, now it is very shiny and feels soft and lovely. It is very curly hair but still looks shiny. I have also discovered the Indigo powder which you mix with chestnut Henne and this covers grey brilliantly though can make hair black if left on too long. So last time, two months ago,I used one part Indigo and two parts henne, and hair went very dark brown/nearly black. The grey was covered perfectly. Needed doing again this week so I used same mix but only on roots and left for one hour. Did not work so well. will do again with Indigo and chestnut roots only to cover grey and leave on for hour and half.

I've always used this to dye my hair a rich natural red. It looks like Sophie Turner's red hair in Game of Thrones. My natural hair colour is a light ash blonde. My method:I used the whole 100g to dye my hair from scalp to just above the shoulders. I make some very strong tea (2 or three teabags to a big mug of boiled water), then mix the henna powder and tea it to a cake mix consistency. I leave the mixture overnight to release dye (8 hours), then I apply it all over the hair I want dyed. I make sure that all the hair is basically saturated with the stuff, then I wrap it in a plastic bag for anywhere from 6 to 8 hours. Afterwards, I rinse it all out with loads of conditioner. The colour changes slightly over the next 24/48 hours so if you're worried by how it looks at first, give it a couple of days to settle down (google henna oxidisation if you're curious about this).Love this, it's 100% natural and the colour has never faded on my hair. :)

Henna is a totally natural product and easy to use once you realise it's just hot water and mix to a paste cool a little and apply to your hair. There's one thing to remember and that's it will stain everything. So remove things that would be a problem on or cover them.I used to use it as a teenager and normally get highlights but haven't had any for a year. My hair is dark brown with not many highlights left just about 3 inches at the ends of some.I used this having had hair washed the previous day which I just damped very lightly as I knew I'd be using shampoo after use of the henna and like to keep that to a minimum. It had an hour on with cling film and some loo roll wound round my head at the hairline to stop any dripping. It was a hot day about 25 degree Celsius so I didn't use heat.I'm happy with the result and I only used half the pack as my hair though long is fine.

A family member recommended trying a henna colourant. I have a mixture of dark hair which has a tendancy to 'bleach' to an orange colour, and grey, The chemical dyes I tried didn't seem to last, despite being advertised as permanent, and I suspect they might have made the bleaching problem worse. This product covered my hair nicely and lasts about a month. It also has the advantage of being easier to wash out if you get it on clothes, unlike some other hair dyes I have used.Drawbacks: I leave it on for 2 hours to get the full effect and it is quite a 'solid' product. I found chunks of it behind my ears a day or two after I first used it and I've learned to rinse it out very thoroughly.I use a cheap, dark towel to wash my hair now as the colour does come out on towels. It also smells quite strong, although I personally like the smell.

I bought this as I am trying to move away from chemicals and excessive plastic packaging. I make most of my own toiletries now but hadn't been brave enough to move to a natural hair dye.Even on my very dark brown/black hair this left a lovely deep auburn tint. My hair feels great, looks so shiny, and I got better results with this than with any number of expensive box dyes or salon attempts. It is a little tricky to apply as it's a sort of thick paste, but that's great because it doesn't drip. The odd spot spilled on the sink and just wiped off, no stains that need bleaching. No nasty ammonia smell either.Overall five stars, and I'll definitely be buying more. I have chin length curls, and I think half a box would be enough next time, so even more economical!

I’ve used this for a year, reapplied for the 4th time this week. It does not wash out in a few washes! I end up getting regrowth and the henna will fade a bit. I tired to wash it out for 2 months with harsh shampoo so I could get highlights to go under the henna but it still wasn’t out enough to bleach. This is my only issue with it, it’s advertised as washing out after 5 or 6 washes? But it doesn’t at all.The colour is amazing, I am a natural red head but my hair has faded over the last ten years - I’m 28. This gives me back the red I had and makes it super shiny. You have to really commit to henna as once you do it you can’t dye your hair conventional again until it’s grown out or at least6-9 months without applying henna.

The best henna powder you can get! I've been using this brand for a couple of years now and my hair is so incredibly healthy. I chose to use henna over chemical dyes to give me hair a rest, recover and chance to grow. Although it was a difficult application process to get used to (use YouTube vids for advice!) It's now thick and healthy. I use henna on it every 6-8 weeks and the colour is beautiful. I have dark brown hair and the henna adds a lovely red sheen. It also adds to my natural highlights. In the sunlight I have several different red tones in my hair.I do not miss chemical hair dyes one bit! And I will continue to buy this product for years to come.

I've used the pre mixed bottled version before with ease. Bought this by accident. Its messy to mix use and wash out. With Henna that's powered form you should expect that i suppose. I'm naturally red so only left it on 60 mins which was long enough. Its a little patchy because I found the application difficult. It went on like gritty mud. I think you need a thinner consistency and once on you can't comb or manipulate easily compared to the bottled version. Colour pay off is impressive though and leave you with nice condition. I'll see how it goes after a few washes to decide if I need another go in some dodgy areas. Hair smells funky but that passes.

I have been using henna for many years now ... normally I use Lush henna, which is great, but a little more effort as you have to break up and dissolve this big block. But this product was great, I now have a lovely natural looking shade of chestnut brown hair (my hair was a medium auburn)....I would advise you buy x 2 boxes if you have 'long hair' or very thick medium hair like mine, I only just managed to cover all my hair. If you want to see a significant result leave of for 2 + hours and cover your hair in a cheap shower cap, to keep the henna moist and active - also I would mix in a table spoon of conditioner, to ease application :D x x x x

So far now we have bought 4 cartons of this henna hair colour, essentially we switched to it when my wife developed allergies to chemical products used up until that time. The price through amazon was the cheapest we could find, but the product is superb! my wife has shoulder length thick greying hair (she is 60 years of age) and we were sceptical to say the least before using about the effectiveness and durability of this method of colouring.Amazingly we use now only half the contents of a carton which stays a good colour for up to 4 months even with frequent washing, a best buy for anyone contemplating using a natural product, very satisfied!
