I have a number of tripods, which I use in various circumstances and situations. So how does this compare and where would it be of use. As the name suggests it is obviously intended as a travel tripod, it is light weight, folds down to 18.25 ins (406cm), has easy setup/adjustable legs and is reasonably steady (with the added benefit of a camera bag hook for extra stability weighting). At this cost it will be hard to considerably better the spec. The main criticism I have is the head, which in my opinion does not match the quality of the leg assemble, it is rudimentary and I would be careful of trying to take multiple or long exposures, as the position fixing is poor,in the description of this tripod it mentions a quick release plate mine did not have one?. Having said that it does the job.For me this tripod is a standby when I want a light weight or need to set up extra lights for example. I have much heavier and larger tripods in metal and carbon fibre when I don't need to address weight and a smaller carton fibre that folds down even small when I do. I also have far more adjustable and to me reliable heads, with quick release plates. BUT they all are considerably more expensive (at least x 3) than this tripod. If I was starting out this Hama Traveller would most probable be on the list, as an initial tripod, first to see if I am going to use a tripod and secondly to understand what my requirement would be in the future.

This is a review of the 117 Model. The first thing you will notice about this Tripod is how light it is, which makes taking out and about a breeze! Next up is it's features which include a ball jointed head which while sounding top end is a bit of a let down as it only moves in one direction/axis, which kind of makes it being a ball pointless. This head can be removed and others fitted though, if required. Be aware that the 117 model does NOT have a quick release plate! The central column moves up and down, and has a hook on the bottom to hang a weight to aid stability, this hooked end can be unscrewed allowing the column to be mounted upside down as shown in one of the product pictures. The legs are adjustable in 3 sections and can be locked at certain angles, they also have rubber feet that come to a gentle point for good grip, plus the legs can be set from almost straight down to almost horizontal. I found the 'level' very hard to use in anything other than bright light as there is no contrast between the little bubble and it's background. It also comes with a nice carry bag with hand/shoulder strap. Folded down and in it's bag it is about 20 inches (51cm) long by 4 inches (10cm) wide. While this is a good tripod it does lack a some features that can be found in similar priced and quality ones available.

Great entry tripod. It's very compact and pretty sturdy - took some photos tonight (attached) and I didn't notice any movement. The ball head is great, I tested the camera at a few angles (including upside down) and it all held very solidly (Nikon D5300 with 18-105 lens). I can understand the comments about it being a little fiddly to attached/remove but this is easily rectified by loosening the bullhead and rotating just the top piece. I don't see how it would differ to any other tripod, without a quick release feature. That said, I have purchased XCSOURCE® QR Quick Release Plate which works well with it.

This tripod is perfect for small to med compact cameras.I wanted a tripod which was lightweight enough to carry with a rucksack.Works perfectly with the Canon G15, and for me is that perfect balance of lightweight vs sturdy.Really quick to be ready to take photos, and with the hook built in plenty sturdy enough in high wind with the rucksack attached.Hama quality of build really shows also.

This is my second Hama tripod, my first was bought many years ago before I really knew very much about cameras, but this tripod could be made by one of the manufacturers known for tripod excellence! It's very light but very strong everything feels very fluid no sticking!Very impressed with this very affordable travel tripod! It even comes with a shoulder bag!Top notch!

A nice light easy to set up tripod. As to be expected for the price wouldn't recommend using a heavy camera and lens(telephoto), but ideal for macro and landscape work. The height of the tripod may be an issue for some people, but i bought this as a spare extra to use on those occasions when i didn't want to carry my more expensive heavier tripod.

Really good little tripod that in my opinion is a better buy than the Manfrotto compact light and advanced series of tripods (and I'm a Manfrotto fan). It is great that you can adjust the legs for low profile shooting and reverse the ball head as well - It also comes in a tough little carrying bag as well - Highly Recommended at this price.

Tripod works great, nice and sturdy - I have another Hama tripod that isn't built nearly as well, and it comes with a soft case to store and carry it in. Very compact considering the size it can extend to. The cheaper one doesn't have the ballast hook which is extremely useful for location work. Glad I upgraded.

when the Hama traveller arrived I thought I'd made a mistake as the legs are very thin, but was surprised just how sturdy this tripod is and light weight, I don't like the bull head so changed it hence four stars but would recommend this tripod as a sturdy light weight travel tripod

This tripod is very light and makes a great travelling stand. However, I felt that it was a little short in height so it didn't really serve my requirements. It is simply made and I would say doesn't jump out as a first choice travelling stand. I own better.

Happy with purchase. Not used it much yet but happy with it so far. A little bit heavier than some others I've seen but seems more stable which is more important to me.

Exactly what is needed. I recently began my journey to faith in god after researching flat earth and through the realization of the truth of the fixed, immovable Earth.

Can't love it more. It is such a quality product. I have used it during my trip to Norway last December to capture the Northern Light. Absolutely love it!

Do far so good. I only use this as a projector mount so have not tested it in the elements but for what I need it for it works perfect.
