I first tried Gillette Mach 3 blades around 10 years ago and, although they were comfortable, I felt that they didn't shave as close as I would have liked, so I went back to my trusty Sensors. I tried them again a few weeks ago - more out of curiosity than anything else - and got something of a shock; I'm not sure if my beard has softened in the last 10 years, or if Gillette has just gotten better at making blades, but the difference between then and now was amazing. My first (post weekend) Mach 3 shave was close, clean, painless and virtually free of cuts. Having been down this road before, I guessed that the second would be much less effective, but I was wrong as it was almost as good as the first, and the third was about the same. I got almost two weeks' worth of excellent-to-good weekday shaving from each blade I tried, which I have had before with other blades but only ever accompanied by the seemingly ubiquitous "red raw" look. The shave the Mach 3's give is much smoother than any other blade I've tried and, even though I still get cuts, instances of shaving rash are much less frequent.Of course, nothing in life is free and this cutting ability does come at a price as I took what can only be described as a gouge out of my chin as a testament to their sharpness, so it is important that you take your time shaving and treat the Mach 3's with respect each and every morning. But if you put in the effort and don't go at it like a loon, the Mach 3 blades will reward you with a shave of unequalled quality, at least in the cartridge blade world.

This is the long established Gillette Mach3 razor with a metal and grippy, black silicone handle that quickly gives a smooth, close shave. I found it excellent on my legs. My hairy-faced friend has this same razor and tells me it’s very good for the face, too. There are in total twelve blades included in the pack; eleven blades are in three separate boxes of blade holders and one is fitted to the Mach3 handle. Often the fitted one is a dummy blade when the razor is sold separately but in this pack that is not the case. All the blades are the standard Mach3 three-blade head with lubrication strip at the top and a skin tensioning, silicone fin at the bottom. The blades come in the standard blade holding case with space for four blades in each case that they come in when purchased separately. The blades are easy to clip onto the razor from the blade case. The handle does not come in a separate case. It is just supported in the disposable packaging. The packaging suggest that there is enough blades for 36 weeks of shaving or that each blade is intended to be used for 3 weeks. This can depends on the individual user and how heavy their stubble is. Personally I prefer the slightly smaller size of three blade Mach3 razor to the five blade Fusion, but I’m not a chap.

An original Mach 3 was purchased and used for many years whenever an especially close shave was required and replaced much older single and dual-blade systems previously used. For general day-to-day shaving, an electric shaver is and was used most days and in recent years the original Mach 3 had been less often used but now looks much the worse for wear. With increasing age, electric shaving can be sometimes hit-or-miss as beard coarseness has changed and become far tougher, possibly more challenging to the shaver used. It is the intention to use this rather more regularly, not necessarily daily, although many will routinely do so.Although there are five-blade razors available,a 3-blade system works more than well enough for most. The blades also include a soft-glide insert which helps ensure a close shave while reducing the likelihood of nicks. A good shaving cream or gel will also help dramatically. This pack includes not just the razor with one blade installed but 11 spare blades which should see most users through several months - Gillette's estimate is 3 weeks' worth of daily shaving per blade. The blades are widely available, mostly in 4-packs although double and triple-pack bundles can sometimes be found.

The Mach3 Turbo Razor has been around for more than a few years now (first launched in the UK in 1998, I think) and has definitely stood the test of time.Compared to disposables and to most of the non-disposable competition at the time, the Mach3 shaving head provided a remarkable number of shaves before losing its efficiency. In Boots one day, I overheard one man tell another that the blades lasted him six months! (His hair colour and complexion were fair, so he probably wasn’t exaggerating.)For most of us, they don’t last anything like that long. I am not a bluebeard but do need to shave daily, and would say that Gillette’s claim on the packaging of this item that 12 blades will last 36 weeks is about right – unless you are happy to keep going until the discomfort zone arrives.(I use the gradually-fading blue bar as a reference on how the blade is doing, rather than as an absolute indicator of when the blade needs replacing.)1998 is a long time ago; has the Mach3 meanwhile got out of date? Five blades on a swivel head, with various additional features, are now widely available (I think particularly of the

I suppose I'm going to and fro whether to offer a 3*** or 4**** review. There is nothing at all wrong with these razors, in fact they are really good offering as they do a nice close shave that leaves your boat-race nick free and without the redness of the cheapo options like BIC.So if they're so good why a 3***? Well, the pricing is a little deceptive because if you shop around you can get more razors for less money. The good thing about this pack tho is you get a really decent supply and handle to get you started and it'll last you ages without the hassle of the going out to buy smaller packs or looking online. So I'll offer a 4* in the end overall because they are good, tho not the best in my experience, and the convenience just about makes up for the pricing ... which is not bad really. If you're not bothered about saving a quid or two then just stump up and rest easy.If you want the RR option then Cornerstone online offer the best handle/blades combo in my opinion but they're a little more pricey for sure. These Mach3s are a great compromise option at an OK price.

I needed a good quality razor to replace my old one and this one appeared t be good value, coming as it does with eleven replacement blades. I'm female and I didn't care that the packaging isn't pink- I simply wanted a quality razor and some refills to go in it. What I got was exactly that. This does not come in frustration free packaging, so opening it was a right faff, and the razor came pre-loaded with a blade but no blade guard, so do be careful removing from the packet. (I luckily did NOT slice my fingers open while wrestling the package open).Using this to shave my legs and under my arms, I found this gave a close shave the first pass, the gel strip helping it to glide smoothly (though no doubt the moisturising shaving gel I applied first also helped in this regard) and the pivoting head a bonus when shaving contoured areas. I came away with no skin irritation or nicks to the skin. Must say this beats the pants off the electric lady shaver I have and is an improvement over the last bladed razor I used (a ladies one from Wilkinson Sword).

For the past few years I have been using cheap Supermarket disposable razors thinking that a razor is a razor & will do the job than a more expensive Gillette one. How wrong was I!Straight away using the Gillette Mach3 it made me realise just how bad cheap razors are. The Gillette razor feels so smooth across my face & only takes one swipe of the area to give me a smooth close shave. No going over the same area again like I did with the cheap razors & then end up with a sore patch from the poor quality blades. You really get what you pay for, it is like going from driving a Ford to a Lambo! I can shave it half the time now as don't have to go over my the same areas over & over again.Plus I am left with no cuts or sore patches from the cheap blades. The Gillette has converted me back to more expensive razors.Cost isn't that bad when with this you get 36 weeks of shaving for the price. That's 9 months of shaving!I will never scrimp with cheap razors again.

If you are looking to travel then this is a perfect package. The handle is good quality with a rubber grip and the 3 blade replacements are all good enough to use under a shower.A good additional is that all the blades are housed in a well designed plastic containers and all you simply do is stick the shaver handle into the container and it will automatically attach to the blade. As I have used these before, you will probably get about 20 weeks of use. Remember that in hotter and/or colder climates, the blades are going to last a lot less than optimal environment like keeping them in your cupboard. My only criticism is that I wish the hander was longer making it a far more comfortable hand. Also I took a photo of the back of the packaging and noticed it is different to that of the same packaging that I find in superdrug's. Which leads me to think these are imports.

Stiil the best and most reasonably priced razor blades from Gillette. I can't afford to buy any of the newer 'Power' or 'Vibrating' types of Gillette razor, the handle alone costs an arm and several fingers. When will Gillette go for the replacement blade market by offering the first handle and blade free? Such stupid non-marketing from their sales team. No, I'll stick with the old Mach 3, keep buying the much cheaper replacement blades and get a week's excellent close, but blood-free, shaves out of each one using shower gel or hand wash gel as my lubricant. You don't need expensive cans of shaving gel or foam with a Mach 3.Oh,and a warning for Gillette: Don't suddenly stop making Mach 3 replacement blades - yours may be the best but there are plenty of considerably cheaper alternative brands out there...

I’ve tried many different razors, blades and even the subscription guys but always returned to the bog-standard Mach 3.Over a number of years (8 +) I have used sensitive blades (pack of 8), 1 blade per year, using a Razorpit to sharpen (ladies pink one is cheaper!), cheap shaving oil (£1) on some days, cheap shaving gel (£1 or less) for others, and now and again use both resulting in smooth shaves. Saved a small fortune considering the price of blades and consumables!I’ve used the same Mach 3, changed the handle a few times over the years, do like the weight of a metal handle but the rubber peels off and add a new blade 1st Jan every year,I know a bloke who's had similar results with his broom! Now looking forward to the next 12 years with this pack!

Received these razors through the Vine program a while back, and I would have to say that this set offers good quality razors and cost effective way to buy blades. The come in well-designed razors holders (almost like a magazine) which allows you to safely store, and easily attached a new head after effortlessly ejecting the old blades from the handle. While in nearly two months of use I have not suffered one cut (a great bonus) they offer a good shave however not as close as some others types that are available. That would be my only criticism, but all in all, I would definitely buy this product when I run low on the razors in future. Thanks very much for reading. If you found this helpful I would appreciate your feedback by clicking 'YES' below :)

Having bought Gillette Mach3 blades during the last year from different high street suppliers of varying quality. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed at which they were delivered. Firstly the package arrived and had Turkish writing on the outer box which made me think of quality issues but not to worry these blades are as good as any that I have purchased before, first use and I was pleasantly surprised at the closeness of shave and up to yet these blades have kept their sharpness and the lubrication strip has kept intact. I have had a full head shave every day and not had to change blades with the last shave equally as good as the first.I would highly recommend this product and seller and will purchase from them again.

Gillette! The Best a Man can get lol......Always used Gillette products and never been disappointed. It was time to try the Mach3 again after a long time since I have the razor however, not the razors. I had to say goodbye to the Gillette Sensor (two blades) and move up to Mach3. Very good quality and the sharpness lasts a long time plus the trust you put in the brand is fulfilling. I like the packaging, very masculine, modern and trendy which also was a factor in the purchase. Gillette have done a great job in keeping the brand popular, modern and relevant in the 21 century when other brands have disappeared, Strayed to another brand once and it was never better or the same. Great purchase, highly recommended!

I have used Gillette Mach 3 razor blades for quite a number of years now and have always found Gillette Blades to be of good value.I purchased 4 packs from Razors 4U via Amazon on 21/5/2014 with a 3 - 5 day delivery period. Like the advert said 3 - 5 days delivery and low and behold one package arrived containing 2 packs of blades. It is now 24th June 2014 and I am still awaiting the other package containing 2 packs of blades, this is after I filed a complaint a week ago and was told that muliple packs are delivered separately. Although the price was good, compared to all the supermarkets, the delivery service has let me down especially when the first package arrived on time.

The sample pack sent to us for review was used by my nephew, who is 18. He was impressed and said it has a smooth finish and he hasn't had any nicks as of yet.At first glance I thought this was a really good value offer to get so many blade refills as well as the razor but I'm informed by my brother that whilst these are a top brand and good value, they're almost always on offer somewhere and it's only worth the current Amazon price of £20 for the sake of convenience. However, the review stars are based solely on the product itself. The only thing missing in my view for this set is a tin or some form of case to keep it all in. Or at least to keep the spare blades in.
