I have been purchasing these replacement foil/cutter sets for my Braun 360 Complete, 800 Series 5646, for several years. Mine seem to last about 12-18 months on that razor with fairly regular cleaning (see below) before the performance drops off and they need replacing.There have been no problems with these cutter/foils in the past, but I noticed that this last set shed some very black dust (in addition to my grey beard hair bits) during the first half-dozen uses! I could not see where the dust was coming from. However, I did note that there is a black coating on parts of the inner side of the foil holder, but it appears to be undamaged. Very strange! But apart from that,several weeks on it still seems to be working as well as previous replacements.Cleaning tip: I also have another, different model, Braun which I use less often, and I have a Braun cleaning device for each one. Although Braun recommend regular use of the cleaning device, over the years I have noted that this it is not strictly necessary to use it every time, and I now tend to use these cleaners perhaps once every 2 to 4 weeks along with a full re-charge of the battery. Doing so seems to have little or no effect on the performance and longevity of the foils and cutters, but over a year it does save some money on the cleaning cartridges. However, I do lightly brush the cutters and foils after each use, and in the case of the washable Braun razor, I also rinse under the tap, and that seems to work well enough.Buying tip: Amazon usually the best prices, but if you have a Boots Advantage card in the family it is as well to check at your local Boots because you could save on some Braun running costs by using those points. Even better value if you can get the additional 60s points, and also if Boots are discounting Braun products. And before you ask, I don't have any association with Boots :-)Deducted one star for the black dust problem and, IMHO, the relatively high running costs of generally well made Braun products.

I bought two of these replacement shaver heads for my Braun 8995 shaver, which is now several years old but is my best electric razor ever. I ordered two 2 years ago (Sept 2015) - which demonstrates that they last about 12 months with daily shaving. I replace the head when the amber light shows (which goes out when your replace the head). Using it for longer results in an inferior shave, which takes longer - and ultimately causes the foil to split which will scratch and draw blood!I always the Braun Cleaning System after every shave which helps prolong its useful life.A useful tip is to spray the central moving mechanism inside the shaver head with silicon oil.These moving parts are plastic and I don't think the cleaning system adequately cleans them. A regular spray with silicon oil keeps them free to fully slide, ensuring the central cutters are working to maximum efficiency. The difference in the speed and closeness of shave is definitely noticeable.Also, after removing the old head and before fitting the new one, I thoroughly clean the top of the shaver where the head fits, including all the moving parts, especially underneath and down the side of the beard trimmer (with the trimmer fully extended). I use 95% surgical alcohol (available very cheaply from your chemist or drugstore) with a small stiff brush. The difference in performance is amazing.Replacing the head regularly and cleaning the shaver as described above gives me a really close shave without any soreness - even without using any pre- or aftershave. These replacement foils are much cheaper than the expensive high street prices.

If you've found your way to here then you already have the shaver most likely, and need one of these.I got one of these for my 8595 shaver the manual for which recommends changing this assembly at least every 18 months. However, that is such a ballpark figure one really needs to decide for oneself. My growth is not particularly dark, fast or tough; so I usually shave every other day. The shaver itself started recommending a change-out after about 20 months or so (I guess it tries to count shaves rather than calender time!) but the shave seemed fine. After another month or so, I thought "hmmm, maybe it does....". Got one of these packs, fitted in 10 seconds, and BAMM!Like new.Like so many people I had not noticed the deterioration until it was quite poor. Personally, I reckon that if you shave religiously every day, you might want to consider not waiting past a year. If you're like me, 14-16+ months. Yes, these packs aren't cheap and the cleaning solution (e.g. the Braun CCR3 pack) isn't free. But if you compare with the regular costs incurred running something like Gillette Fusion Power with it's bloody expensive blades, and the cost of a decent quality gel or foam.... things like the Braun are quite cost effective!

I was unsure how long it was since I last replaced the cutter and foil but shaving seemed to be taking longer and the shaver seemed less efficient. I was dubious about ordering a replacement cutter and foil from Amazon due to those product reviews which state the product was delivered in a damaged condition due to soft packaging. What made me give it a try was the price. While Amazon were charging £20 local high street stores were charging around £10 more for the same thing if they stocked it at all. I'm glad I did. Amazon have obviously responded to the other reviewers' complaints because mine arrived very well packed in a box.I note that some reviewers have criticised the quality of thecutter and foil and some have claimed that the reduced quality has caused the foil to break when removing and refitting it after cleaning. There is no need to do this. I don't understand why someone would buy a 'clean and renew' system shaver and then continually remove and replace the foil. Let the system do the cleaning and you will have no problem with this cutter and foil.

The foil and cutter block in my Braun 8985 lasted just under 17 months (around 400 shaves) before the warning light on the shaver came on, telling me that I needed to change them. I didn't feel at the time that the quality of the shave was that much worse than when the shaver was new so I left it another few weeks before replacing both the foil and cutter. The difference when I did, however, was enormous. The shave was getting slightly worse every time the shaver was used although by such small amounts that it was unnoticeable, and renewing the cutting head improved the quality no end.My advice would be to listen to your shaver and do as it says when it tells you that it wants a new foil and cutter - this is the perfect way to repay its untiring and uncomplaining service.Like most replacement parts for Braun products, it's a bit on the expensive side (hence the 4 stars), but there's no denying that it does its job very well.

Seems good. The comb in the middle is made from white plastic (the original was black) so it looks slightly different but still works fine. Your whiskers won't know the difference. I've not rated this item for longevity because I have no idea how long it will last - how could I? Actually seems a silly question to ask on a review for this type of product! The original that came fitted on the shaver lasted 7 years, so I'll be happy if the replacement lasts 5 years.TBH, these things seem very expensive for what they are, but I guess they have to be manufactured with high precision to very tight engineering tolerances to work as well as they do. One way to look at it is that spread over 7 years,it works out at about 1p per shave, so perhaps I should stop bitching about it. All makes and models seem roughly equally as expensive, so price certainly doesn't count against this product.

The key here is for you to make sure that you are purchasing the correct replacement head. The model number & series number is on the body of the razor which I really thank Braun for because it made ordering it easier. The next thing I had to do was go into Amazon's description section and make sure the head you are purchasing works for the razor you are have. There was several I thought might be correct, but when I looked it did not have the correct number for our razor. Since this is an older model I was pleased to be able to get a replacement. This morning when I opened our door our package was there and 5 minutes later the razor head was replaced and my husband had no problems putting it on and now has a baby smooth face.I think that is why a few of the reviewers say their razor head is too small or didn't work. I don't think they had the correct head.

I have bought several of these for my Braun razor since purchasing it 6 years ago so I'm not exactly commenting on the item itself which is an unavoidable buy anyway but also worthwhile as it results in having that 'New Razor' feeling.Having priced this item in my local Boots, in Galway, at 39.99 Euro (yep blah, blah - the costs are higher as Boots have to take into account the extra costs of shipping to Ireland and wages and the rest of the waffle we've all heard from the other UK stores with branches here such as Next, M&S, Monsoon et al), I knew I could easily save a few squids by looking online. A quick browse on the web and, within seconds,Amazon came up trumps yet again.The package arrived after 3 or 4 days (I'm not too sure how long it took as I wasn't waiting anxiously for it !) in perfect condition.It's simple guys - buy it from Amazon.

Imagine the scenario, you thought you have placed an order in time for xmas only to discover on a Saturday, 2 working days before xmas the order hadnt gone through (not company's fault). In a panic I send my original order that was still on the sytem through which included the cleaning cartridges and shot off an e-mail explaining what had happened, I had changed my order to include express delivery and was there anyway I might get my order for xmas. Within hours not only had I received a message to say there was a chance I might get my order as they would despatch that day, I also received an advisory from Amazon to say my order had been despatched!My order was received on the Monday!!and my husband says its the best shave he has ever had with his Braun. So thank you, you and your products are amazing!!

Like other reviewers I am surprised that it takes so much time to locate the correct foil and cutter cassette for a particular Braun shaver, and that they cost so much, but I suppose this is where they make their money, not unlike printer manufacturers who make their money on cartridges. This one seems to be an exact replacement for the original and has the same faults. For example, it has to be removed with care from the shaver body when cleaning or you can easily find some of the vibrators and springs in the shaver body, or one of the cutters themselves, popping out and ending up on the floor. I find running the head under hot water and then pulling firmly on each side works.On the plus side it does cut as well as the original and is cheaper than buying one from Braun.

I bought this replacement (cutter and foils cassette head) at the same time as the shaver itself - just in case they are not easily obtainable in the future when I need one.Not a lot I can say about it, other than I consider it a bit pricey. Yes, it was cheaper from Amazon than the place Braun suggested that I could get one, but it still seems you're paying a lot for the name.I just hope they last a while as I wouldn't want to keep getting them at that price.Braun claim they last, and only need replacing at 18 months, but I would say it greatly depends on whether you are a heavy user or frequent shaver. I tend to shave twice a day, so will that mean the lifespan of mine will only be 9 months?Time will tell.I've only awarded 4 stars,primarily because of the price.

Always torn when I replace the cutting head and foil on my 8 year old shaver. I thought part of the point of an electric shaver was you just used it. Otherwise, I could go back to wet shaving. It's an expensive consumable - reducing electric shavers to the same bracket as capsule coffee machines (don't get me started) or ink jet printers (no, really, just step back from the keyboard.)But, but, but ...Basically, it's like getting a new shaver. It really is. As other reviews have pointed out, you don't notice the gradual decline in performance until you change the head. So it's not £20 for a consumable item.It's £20 for a new shaver about once every 2 years.Now if only they could do something about that stupidly expensive cleaning fluid...

This is the 4th time I've ordered this over the last 4 years, in that time the price has fluctuated by a few £ but that's to be expected.As per the manufacturer instructions I like to change the foil and blade on my shaver every year and this is the original replacement for my make and model. Takes seconds to replace both the foil and blade and it feels like new once it's done.Excellent service (again) with the item arriving within a couple of days of ordering ( this time I noticed the price of the item has reduced but the cost of delivery increased meaning overall little difference to as the total price.Arrived very well packaged ( fortunately I was in to accept/ sign for the delivery)

I have been using the same 8000 series Braun shaver for some 8 years now and replace the foil every 18 months. I have never had any problems with the replacement foils or cutters, true that they need to be installed carefully to avoid bending any of the plastic parts but once installed they will keep doing their jobs. I will keep doing this until the shaver gives up but until then I have no hesitation in ordering replacement foils and cutters in this way. I note that they have updated to a new style of cutter and foil for the shaver but while I can I will stay with this one to save the cost. At the start of the day I just want my stubble gone, this gets the job done with minimal fuss.

I love the Braun razor I've had for going on 3 years now and also buy my clean & renew fluid from Amazon. When I fist bought the razor I close to 8 months before I changed the foil & cutter block but the quality is not the same with these replacements. When first changed I run it thru a clean cycle before having with it and they give a smooth close and comfortable shave without any discomfort. I removed a star because they seem to wear out in 6 - 8 weeks and start feeling very rough against the skin and I maintain it as recommended with a clean cycle after each use......This latest purchase arrived in an envelope with no protection and the foil crushed ( see pictures ).
