Lovely tasting whiskey, very light and crisp with a strong after taste that burns the throat - which I love. After this, you're left with a nice smokey/wood taste in your mouth after the delicious warmth passes down your throat. Four Roses Whiskey is probably the number one brand that you can't go wrong with when it comes to Kentucky straight bourbon.Update (1): Ordered the Single Batch bourbon, absolutely delicious - very fruity. Nice and light too and there's not that much of an after burn as the bourbon goes down your throat. Very nice, but I would suggest trying the Single Barrel first for a much more stronger taste. In comparison, if you're new to bourbon and whisk(e)y and don't want to try something very strong, then I suggest going for the Small Batch.Update (2): Having just recently purchased the Four Roses Yellow Label Kentucky Straight Bourbon, I can honestly it cannot get any better than that! Compared to the Single Batch (mellow, nice fruit tasting) and the Single Barrel (strong, rich with fruit and other flavours), the Yellow Label is also so delicious that you cannot go wrong with buying all three of these additions. You will find the Yellow Label is very smooth and easy to drink, it is also rich with flavour and goes so well neat. I recommend this 100% to anyone who loves whisky or bourbon! If you've got the money, try it if you're wanting to try something new or want to broaden your horizon with whiskey. With a side note - receiving this product was an absolute nightmare due to a certain particular package delivery service and Amazon had to help me out with this since the package completely disappeared, without a trace. Literally. Despite this, Amazon Customer Service helped a lot with this and I have to thank them for this as they provided more what I expected of them which leaves me to a conclusion: Get this whiskey, and if you need help from Customer Support then don't hesitate to contact them, they will help you in the best way possible if it's within their ability to.

I have bought about 20 whisky's during the Black Friday and Christmas deals. Some were nice, some were ok, some knocked me for six at how nice they were. Four Roses majorly knocked me for six. This I think is right up there as the best of the 20. It's a lovely distinctive tasting whisky. I have tasted nothing like it. It just oozes premium and class in its tasting. If you want to impress someone over Christmas/New Year give them a drink of this.If I had to rate my top 6 after drinking every one of the main branded whisky's I would say they are in order;1. Laphroaig Quater Cask2. Four Roses Small Batch3. Highland Park4. Woodford Reserve5.Bulleit Rye.And the Haig Club at £15 a bottle is perfect for mixing cocktails for .6 as its a non-overpowering nice tasting smooth whisky and a bargain at that price.Hope that list helps. Buy those six over the well-known brands, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Knob Creek, Johnnie Walker, Jura, wild turkey etc.

Blimey, this is good! I did a bit of research, and it seems most bourbon brands come from 3 or 4 big distilleries, which all handle about a dozen different brand names - so i thought this "single barrel" idea might be as close as you can get to an actual unblended taste of american whiskey - and by golly, it's great stuff! Full of power and flavour, yet so smooth that you can get halfway down the bottle and not notice it (until you try and stand up). Turns a plain whiskey-and-ginger into a premium-grade cocktail - or straight with a lump of ice, and you're having a serious grown-up drink. 50%alc/vol strong, this is not a bottle to be tackled without clearing the rest of your day,and then sitting back to start the party.

Great 50% strength bourbon, which I have begun to enjoy. Having loved the small batch Four Roses, I though I would try this slightly more expensive and stronger single barrel version. It is very good and compares favourably to other 50% bourbons I have drunk, but my taste is leading me to slightly prefer the small batch version (that is slightly cheaper) as the small batch seems a little smoother. I will probably buy another bottle again sometime, but my next bottle will be the small batch instead.I still prefer this over Bourbons such as Woodford Reserve and Jack Daniels (incl Gentleman Jack, but not Silver Select)... p.s. I am of the view JD can technically be described as bourbon...

After recently getting into Bourbon whiskey (as a Scotch drinker) I got very lucky with a bottle of this. Strong, in every way, excellent flavours, depth and finish, highly recommended, just be aware it's a full on whiskey. It also has quite a cool bottle (which I am told is very important)I often give whiskeys five stars which somewhat devalues my opinions, but we live in a good time at the moment where the standard of small batch production around the world is exceptionally high, good times! It's great that the USA seems to be progressing away from the dominating distilleries producing identical drinks, and so producers like Four Roses can exist and produce big hitters like this.

When I first opened the bottle I would have said it’s a 1 star horror. Compared to my usual Bulleit it was not as strong, spicy or flavourful.I was very wrong.I opened it again for another. And another. And soon the bottle was empty. The Four Roses is smooth, doesn’t have the alcohol burn you expect, and the smokiness reminds me of a fire. There’s caramel in there too, takes a bit of time to develop though.Use it for mixing for sure, but I’d suggest neat and brining to slightly above room temperature to bring out t he full flavour.Fantastic stuff, and another bottle will be on its way soon.

Firstly I have to say I am not a connoisseur nor a big drinker. Just got this on a whim when it was on a deal. However I do socially drink - and I have to say I've not encounter bourbon that smells (perfumed?) so well, you almost don't want to drink it and just smell it! Tastes great too, again not a fan of whiskey/bourbon but this tastes good to me.So I have to say this is what I will be buying going forward, both for myself and present for very good friends; there may be better stuff but for me this is great.

As another reviewer has stated, fantastic bourbon for an old fashioned.I am usually a Buffalo Trace drinker, not a fan of Knob Creek or Woodford Reserve, and this bourbon is definitely suited to my palate and by far the smoothest 45% ABV bourbon I've tried. If you like your bourbon neat, this is not necessarily going to be a top choice. However, if you like a bourbon-forward cocktail such as an old fashioned, manhattan or mint julep it mixed and holds up exceptionally well.

Having Drank and enjoyed Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace, Wild Turkey, Woodford Reserve and a handful of other commercially available Bourbons, I can confirm that this is a stand-out Bourbon. It combines the woodish, coconut hues of a viable and friendly Bourbon like Jack Daniels and the smoothness of an Irish Whiskey like a Jameson. Recommended for someone looking for an affordable yet quality Bourbon.

As someone who grew up on rum and later found a love for cognacs, never thought id find myself into bourbon, JD & JB being too sweet and mainly because scotch was always bland to me. But its a whole other kettle of fish and this is the drink that converted me. I have a large one with 2 ice cubes and the flavours dont stop changing as they melt. Hands down best Bourbon going for £30-40.

This was a Christmas present to myself. Having read the reviews I was not disappointed, I found this to be as good a bourbon as I've ever had and better. I also received a bottle of Jack Daniels "Gentleman Jack" last Christmas, and excellent though that was, this is still my favourite drink. A warm, strong bourbon whisky with lots of rye bourbon notes. Liquid gold! Highly recommended.

One thing I do like about Amazon is they deliver their drinks well packed. Comes in a good protective box and then inside the actual items box. Anyway the important bit, the drink is very nice, certainly not sharp to taste and has quite a strong vanilla taste to it. Its a nice drink to mix or just have with some ice. For the price this is certainly a nice drink I would buy it again.

I bought the Four Roses Small Batch recently and enjoyed that. I thought about trying this...as it was £6 cheaper. I'm glad I did, it's even smoother and nicer to drink than the Small Batch. One cube of ice and away I go. Very pleasant and a nice introduction to those wanting to get into such spirits without having to worry about the "Gahhhhhh!" factor after swallowing.

This is one of the best bourbons I have tasted. Although the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because Woodford reserve is better and the price is practically the same at the time of writing this review. One thing to note is the flavor is great but its not the smoothest I have tried. If you are after a super smooth whiskey then look elsewhere.

Awesome, my favourite bourbon.Obvious it is single barrel so each bottle has some slight differences, but overall it’s the most consistent in quality for its price point I have bought to drink at home as well as when I am out.I have it straight, as well as using noble maple syrup to make my fav own recipe old fashioned ... heaven in a glass
