This part I ordered to have on hand for a 6 gallon Fluval Spec model desktop tank in case of emergency or regular breakdown. The Spec tank has a very small foot print of 6.75 deep by 19.75 wide. It comes with a filter, activated carbon stocking, a bio bead stocking (albeit with no air running through them-you have to add separately), a powerful water circulating pump that even on the slowest speed is to strong, but it does have an excellent LED light bar that fully lights uo every inch of the tank. The light bar has two switchable modes both daylight white and moonlight blue. It also comes with a top cover. Everything you need but an air pump and air stone.

Smaller box and bag than I expected, but it is the original supplied Biomax that came with the tank.The little mesh bag is very useful, I re-fill mine from a bigger Fluval size and simply cable clip the bag back together, you get about 3-4 years from the bag and is a more affordable way to do it.Note wash these out in some tank used water first, let them soak a bit too - lots of chalky dust comes out which would block the filters prematurely.However they work like a dream.I am sure the fish are grateful.

To be honest l have always bought & used these as recommended by Fluval, whether or not l need to replace as often as they say, l don’t know?What l do know is l have stuck to the “routine” for the 3yrs l have owned the tank & have no complaints (neither do the fish who are still swimming around) so it may work out a bit expensive but l have a nice clean tank with clear water & healthy fish!!!

Cant exactly say how good these are since I have no way of seeing the bacteria. I am pleased that when installed in my Spec aquarium they are very densely packed together which I assume is a positive for building beneficial bacteria in an aquarium. I have been told that these are a must have for an aquarium to ensure that it remains safe for fish.

Lifesavers!!Buy these for any filters. Placed these in a very cheap filter that had it’s supposed media in place and yet 5 weeks in to cycling I was still getting high ammonia levels. And 3 weeks with these in place and have finally achieved stable. 0ppm ammonia 0ppm nitrite 10ppm nitrate. Weekly water change of 15% is all good.

Excellent filter media. Works perfectly for my Fluval filter as a replacement for the carbon media I had in my kit. I added live plants to my tank and learned that the carbon filters micro nutrients that aid in plant growth so this was perfect to use instead. Super convenient and well-priced, and I'm sure I'll be ordering again.

Just the job for keeping my Fluvial Flex 123ltr and 57ltr aquarium clean and healthy! Easy to use, just swap the old for the new in seconds. NB I always run mine under a tap before using as there is a fair amount of chalk that clouds the water up if you don't. All in all, perfect product!

This is my first experience with a Fluval filtration system. I have had aquariums for years and this system is the best filtration I have come across. This biomax and charcoal system makes it so easy to maintain a healthy environment for my fish.

I personally cut it open and used it in many of my smaller filters, 1 month later they're already stocked with beneficial bacteria, great product and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good biohome.

Great for custom filtration. I use this with filter floss and foam in my 29 gallon and 36 gallon. Bacteria grows on them which helps a lot with filtration. It is also easy to clean. I recommend this item.

Does the job, and is the perfect size to put in nearly any filter. I purchased a Marineland Penguin filter to use this in however, I have used these in aqueon quietflow filters as well. Would buy again!

Good Value and this brand tank is really good. Makes it so simple to keep a small tank. Had fish much of my life and these little tank systems are really well engineered for the price point.

what can you say? it's a great filter meant for small tanks. i had zero problems for 2 years and then my betta died and i haven't yet found the time to get another fish.i would recommend.

Easy to clean and lasts forever... you don’t ever need to change it unless it has disintegrated witch would be after many many years.... just rinse and repeat when doing water changes

Does what it's supposed to do. I use it in other aquarium as well not just fluval. I use it to addo additional bio filter in aquariums where they don't come with a good built in.
