I'm using it to aerate my hydroponic system, this one is assigned to 1 dwc bucket containing 1 cannabis plant living on 3 part nutrient supplements and it's performing quite well. So I did some tests, I hooked this little guy up next to the 3 watt i bought on amazon, and well.. this one was quieter in all tests, the 3w outperformed this one in terms of air volume, cord length, and number of easy to use accessories. This one came up short in those categories for recurring issues with air pressure mostly. So I hooked them up side by side to see which one (if either) would have an advantage doing something slightly different, time for the airbrush. First,I made sure my airbrush was both clean and ready to go without a hitch operating from its ordinarily connected air-compressor power supply. First was the 3w, nothing too big going on there, there was definitely a difference in my comfort level with the brushes air pressure, to my surprise the 3w is performing up to the standard set by my dewalt compressor. o_OIn the end the Marina 75 was made by a reputible company I know, and have used product from, a great number of times in the last 40 years or so. The marina 75 was a quieter pump than the 3w amazon competitor, and most importantly, when it is hooked up to a hose and a air stone, this baby is almost silent. (especially if it's up off the floor on a hook or something clever enough to keep it from shaking itsfoundations, like a small rope strap that you might have hanging in your tent already ;)This is still a great pump and i do recommend it for 1-30 gallon tanks that are populated with less than 30 little fish or up to 5 mid-sizes if you have more than 2 larger fish (in a 30 gal) you may want to upgrade a step.Best of luck!

This is a super little pump. Not silent, but very quiet. Quieter than all the rest, and I've tried every brand. Its good for a mid-sized tank. If you've got less than 20 gallons, you may want to go with the 75, which is even a little bit quieter and still puts out enough for a small tank. I've got this 100 in a 26 gallon and a 36 gallon. I've got a 200 on order to see how it works in the 60 gallon. I found the 100 a bit underwhelming in the 60, and I'm still using a Whisper there.UPDATE JAN 2012: Although my first couple of these pumps were really quiet, the rest have not been nearly so quiet. And my original two are no longer quiet either. They are pretty much average noise level as air pumps go.My Whisper 20 is quieter than these Marina pumps. In fact, my Whisper 20 is quieter now in its second year of use than it was in its first year. I saw where Eheim was making air pumps now, but they are not available in America. Since their filters are almost silent, I wonder if their air pumps are too, and if they might import them in the future? Why can't someone make a quiet air pump?--I would happily pay a good deal more for a silent one.

I was looking for a good quality quiet air pump to replace the basic and cheap big box store air pump. The previous pump was a replacement to the original that came with the tank kit, and it is just a bit too loud for my kid's room. This Marina 75 pump is not too expensive and is very quiet. It is not silent, but I don't believe any small pump like this can be. It is about as close as you can get to silent though. I'll put it this way: The noise of the water coming out of the Fluval C2 filter is louder than the air pump sitting next to it. This means that it is silent from a practical, real-world perspective. I did a lot of research before selecting this pump, and am happy that I bought this one.If you need a truly "silent" pump, just build a vented and insulated enclosure for the pump. I am very happy with this pump an will buy another when that time comes.

The first one I received had something horribly wrong with it. Sounded like a tiny road crew equipped with a million tiny jackhammers! Contacted Amazon and a replacement was sent no problem. Received the new one very quickly and was happy to see the noise level drop majorly. The pump is quite powerful in my 10 gallon, it runs my in tank filter and one air stone with no problem. The only drawback I found was that it is somewhat noisy, I had to put it on a timer so I could sleep at night. All in all good air pump for the price, small noise factor but with an easy solution.Update- I've had this almost a year now still works great but oh my is it LOUD! The sound it emits drives me up the walls, still on a timer so I can sleep.

Just got this air pump and set it up in my Fluval Edge. I wanted an air pump from a reputable manufacturer and (most importantly) that was quiet as can be. This air pump by Hagen fits the bill, especially on the quiet arena. My other aquarium is using a Tetra Whisper 10 air pump. I thought that was as silent as they come, that is until now. But hearing this Hagen Marina 75 in action, my Tetra Whisper is far from being a "whisper" and more like a lawnmower by relative comparison. Okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, but honestly, the Marina 75 is quiet and puts the Tetra Whisper to shame.

This air pump has given a fresh breath of life to my 70lt tank and is surprisingly very quiet. My previous one was a novice air pump Taiyomax 100, the kind your LFS will dump on you because it's cheap and man have I regretted :/Compared to this my previous air pump was noisy af and could be used as a vibrator -_-Infact, I had taped a bit of cotton on it's side to shut it up because it would slowly find it's way to the wall and make even more noise by vibrating against it... that poor wall :|But this one... wow... This air pump is *sigh* just too damn good for me :P

I just got this on tuesday (3/20/12) and i had an old one that wasnt putting out as much air as I would like for my guppy tank, and so when I switched them out the bubbles came very fast and strong- couldnt believe how many bubbles there are! My guppies love them, and I have it going to 3 different things. I love this one cause it has the 2 outlets instead of 1. but just a quick warning, if you keep it on thicker carpet, it gets hot, so I switched to to a plastic lid, and it seems to be fine now, so just watch if you put it on carpet.

I had a whisper air pump before and it would make a vibration sound that drove me nuts. I bought one of these because I've had one before and I'm much happier with this one. I have it running a foot long air stone with a great amount of bubbles produced. If it wasn't strong enough this large air stone wouldn't be consistently giving off bubbles like it is so I'm happy. I have it on my 40 gallon but it could probably be just fine for a much larger aquarium. Just depends on how much other water flow you have going as well.

I purchased both the 100 and the 200, each for a different tank. I hear nothing from the 100 except the bubbles breaking the surface of the water - very nice air punp. There is an audible humm with the 200, but that is to be expected. Great pressure with the 200, and it has ability to hold two air tubes, and fuction well. I tried splitting the 100 - there was not enough pressure for what I needed, but it is great for one air line. I am going to purchase another 100 so I can run the additional tube in that tank.

I bought this to replace my Whisper 60 that I have had for years. It was slowly starting to die so I knew I needed to replace it and quickly. For me, the Whisper 60 was overkill for my 55 gallon aquarium since I was only running one line to a 3 inch bubbler. This one was inexpensive and simple so I bought it. Contrary to what others have said, I find this to be a pretty quiet pump (at least compared to my old Whisper) and it can handle my bubbler just as good. I have no complaints. I am happy with my purchase.

I have a 20 gallon long aquarium. I hooked up a Penn-Plax Silent-Air X2 air pump to handle two air stones. It did the job but was noisy. I ordered this pump and it also handled the air stone load but was much quieter. Say about 33%. It has been running for over a month now without any problem. I have this pump on a timer so it turns off at night and on during the day and thus must push the water out of the lines every day from scratch. It has done this without fail and without any decrease in pressure.

Fully Satisfied with the product due to its silent operation.PROS.1. Silent Operation on load (Dont get disappointed due to its sound when operated without load. Connect the aerator (Load) and test. it operates silently as mentioned)2. High Quality thick outer Curve , You can feel the build quality.(Not a transparent one as shown in picture)3. Powerful, I have connected 3 Aerator on single machine, still no sound.CONS:1. I would be more happy if the design is perfect rectangular box.

It’s really not that loud. People that say this is loud are spoiled. The bubbles that rise and pop at the surface of the water is where the bulk of the noise comes from. For $5 it’s pretty good. You have to buy your own air line, but it’s easy to find on here or Walmart and it’s cheap and easy to cut to fit and install. I wish this pump came with some small plastic suction cup mounts to anchor down your air line with so it’s not floating around where it wants to.

We bought this pump from another retailer and soon discovered it was too powerful for our tank, which is only 48 litres. Nevertheless, we have used a valve to reduce the airflow into our tank and are now quite happy with the performance of the pump. Considering the amount of air it pumps, it is a fairly quiet unit. The rubber feet are the important thing there, because the pump does vibrate quite a lot.
