Just to give a little background info; I have loved Fjällräven forever, and have had their bags, clothes and jackets.Being Scandinavian, growing up in the 80’s everybody had Kånken bags. Me too, it looks great and it is just really functional, as a kid I would use it for my school books and the bag lasted forever, my whole family had them and they would last at least 5-6 years easily, my mum’s longer as she was more careful.My last bag was packed away and I didn't use it for about 10 years and then decided to buy a new one 2 years ago as they were suddenly everywhere and I missed having my own.Joy!Well, for a while. Initially I did think the material had gotten a bit flimsy,thinner and the bag felt different form my old ones. I was right, the stitching came undone in several places and holes appeared in the corner, even though I am much more careful now a days than when I was a kid and stuffed it full of hardback books. I would say it was in good condition for maybe 6-8 months, then it started falling apart.It also seemed to get drenched every time it rained, I never remembered my childhood bags being wet and my school books damaged, but with my new bag the water went straight through soaking all the content so I think they might have started using cheaper materials to keep the prices low.I then discovered the Kånken No. 2, made from G1000 matreial, which I have had Fjällräven trousers in and know is waterproof so I thought I would give it a go as my last Kånken needed stitching up every 2 weeks and I was fed up having to cover it in plastic bags when cycling in the rain.I couldn’t be happier with the purchase.The bag is wonderful, the material feels much better quality, it seems bigger and is compared to my old original Kånken, but it says in the description it shouldn’t be, so maybe it is just because the material is softer, the front pocket seems bigger and the seat is covered in G1000 so it is slightly thicker than the one in the original Kånken bag. It is also waterproof and can be ‘re-waterproofed’ with the Greenland Wax bar which I find very handy, I used to use the wax bar for my trousers and it works really well either iron it on or use a hairdryer to get the wax absorbed by the material.The straps are thicker and the buckles made from metal (they are plastic on the original Kånken), the leather bits add a sense of style and endurance and the bag just seems like I remember the old Kånken: good looking and dependable!It is definitely worth investing the extra money to get the Kånken No. 2 if you are after a better-quality back pack.

I'm a college student and I love this bag because I could fit my macbook pro 13"! It is waterproof and it seems extremely durable. I feel like I could wear this for the next 10 years, and for the price, I definitely will. It was smaller than I expected, but holy cow, I could fit a lot of crap and because it IS a square shape, the items that go into my backpack fits perfectly. The side pockets are pretty small, but since I have a skinny thermos, it's perfect.I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because the front pocket is pretty small and generally, I wish it had more pockets. Also, I wish it had more snap-on buttons because I don't like the adjustable straps just hanging.Overall,the quality is great and the dark olive color is beautiful! It looks brown in the picture, but I guarantee it is dark olive. With my laptop, I could fit about 2.5 inches(width) worth of stuff so if you're looking for something to carry your textbooks and stuff, I would recommend getting a larger size.

I was looking to buy a smaller rucksack, the size of the Kanken bags should be OK for me to take into a large festival I'm attending as it seems to meet the size criteria laid down by the organisers. But there are so many to choose from. I went to look at the goods at one High Street store and was told that only the Re-Kanken bags are made from re-cycled material. In fact 11 plastic bottles are recycled to make each bag and it is the proud boast of the company that once the bags are near the end of their life they can again be recycled! The Re-Kanken bags appear to be the ones with the logo is stitched in the same colour as the bag. Those bags with the red logo on the white background are still the genuine article but apparently,so I'm informed, are made from different materials. There doesn't seem to be much difference in size or price! I'm still dithering which to buy, apparently there are fakes about but which sort are more likely to be copied I'm not really sure.

I love the bag itself, but if you order the Sand/Beige, it is NOT dark brown like in the picture. In fact, the picture shows the canvas part of the bag as being darker than the leather handles. The Sand/Beige bag I received had handles that are darker than the bag.After looking at Kanken's current product line for this year, I don't even think they make the dark brown bag at all, just the light version. I'm pretty disappointed in the inaccurate color. I posted a picture so you can see the difference.The bag itself, however, is very nice. It's smaller than you might expect: just the right size for a 13-inch laptop and a notebook.For me it was the perfect size because it looks more professional and less like a school backpack.

A great third-party seller that had the REAL product! A beautiful Deep Red No. 2 backpack in its originally packaging and labels. The bag is made out of sturdy material with the great detailing Fjallraven is known for. It fits my old-ish 13" Macbook Pro either by itself or in the seat cushion compartment. Bigger laptops could fit but depends on make and model; you're much better off buying a bigger size if that's the case.I ordered my Kanken from OUTLAND USA which matched the price from the website. Cannot recommend them enough!

I ordered this backpack as something to use in commutes and as a carry on for plane travel. The bag came in and I checked it out. Seems to be an authentic bag, as far as I can tell, and is surprisingly spacious. As far as people saying the straps are short, when you wear it as a backpack, you're supposed to unsnap the straps at the top, then let them slid the full length. The snaps are there to keep them short when you carry the bag by the top strap. All in all, a great little bag for my purposes.

I wanted a sturdy long-lasting bag to carry my laptop in comfortably, and this met all those needs. I've never owned a Fjallraven bag before, but I certainly recommend them. The compartment on the front zips all the way down, making it very easy to pack and unpack, as well as find what I need from it. No matter how much I pack into it, it always sits comfortably on my shoulders. Love the black leather with the black bag. Suits all environments, from work to school.

This backpack is not only great looking but extremely durable, light to carry even after packing it full. Front zipper compartment is handy, the handles are convenient to grab and go. Inside compartment has an included pad that pulls out to sit on. I slide my tablet in the pocket and the pad serves as extra protection. Straps are secure until you need them and adjust easily for comfort in carrying. A great backpack and worth the price.

I use this backpack for school and traveling. It is great because it is very light-weight. I do get lots of compliments on this backpack as well. Overall I like the leather detailing on this bag compared to the original ones. Top handles are really handy as you get full control if you were to carry it from the top because handles are on both sides of the bag.

This backpack is exactly what I was looking for, for my daily commute. Size seemed small when I opened the bag... In actuality it is perfect, it fits my MacBook Air, great side pockets for my umbrella or a tall this water bottle. It's ideal, cute and not to mention waterproof. I've gotten so many compliments on this bag. I love it.

i love love love it. It looks good, waterproof and most importantly sooooo comfortable. It looks small but fits many things and its very comfortable for back. its designed very well. my only regret is i wish i bought it in another colour. black colour makes small fibres from scarf or woollen cloth so visible making it look dirty.

I've had this baby for about 3 months, its held up well and mine was authentic. Has different compartments that I've used for my water bottle, umbrella, makeup, etc. I get compliments constantly! I removed its contents for the photos so it looks a little bit more squared but it's actually more of a rectangle shape.

Nice backpack like the color. There are one inside (long pocket), one outside zippered pocket on front and two side pocket on one each side. The shoulder straps do not have any padding. After purchasing this backpack I found it for less money on another site.

I like this bag so much. It is very nice and has a big space inside the bag that very suit my lifestyle. Unfortunately, the parcel arrived late than the expected date. But overall is fine.

Love this bag, stylish, with the long zips I can get to everything and comfortable. I also like that it stands up by itself and doesn’t fall over! Really love this colour (red)
