I bought this pack to take out on day camps and for general day to day wear. The recycled material was a good selling point. The bag is really well made with deceptively powerful but simple features. The front of the bag unzips in a way that provides really good access to the contents. The straps and handle can be buttoned down to stow away neatly and the two side pockets will take most 500ml drinks bottles - although Nalgene type bottles and canteens are probably a bit large for them. The back section has a built-in pad to provide comfort and can be removed to be used as a sitter. The size is just right for day camps, it will easily take a 3x3 tarp, hammock, light poncho, first aid kit and CAT,knife and saw, sunglasses, coat, sundry bags for wood collection or rubbish and my EDC stuff (Swiss army knife, lighter, fuel canister and wallet) in the front pocket. I can also use a carabiner to clip a canteen to the top handle. The lack of strap padding doesn't affect the comfort at all, and as a result, the bag is surprisingly comfortable even with a good few kilos of kit in, if packed properly. It sits nicely at the top of my shoulders and doesn't sag or slip, extended wear is still very comfortable. One negative is the lack of a rain cover, which would have been nice, given the pricey nature of Fjallraven kit. It's so far stood up to some fairly soggy northern English weather, but it'd have been a nice inclusion. That said, the quality is very good and I forget who said "the quality lingers long after the bitter taste of the price paid", but it rings true with most Fjallraven kit.I'd recommend for any outdoors types wanting something for day camps or days out but would also be good for school/uni use (particularly for heavy books and smaller folders) or just general day to day use.

I decided to get a Kanken bag after seeing a few around. Decided I like the Re Kanken as the badge is a bit more subtle. Being honest, when it first arrived I thought that no way was it worth the money...simple straps, 2 pockets, 2 simple handles and that's it. Genuine annoyance was setting in looking at it.Thought all the reviews can't be wrong and they are aren't. It's simplicity, turns out is it's best feature. I carry a 13inch laptop in it, general work stuff waterproof coat and snacks. No more opening numerous pockets to remember where i put something. You can fit a surprising amount in it and it's light as a feather fully loaded . The way the straps cross over, they support the bag and make them the most comfortable straps I ever used which is just so odd when you look at them, but they are. Got caught it a really heavy down pour last week and bag was bone dry inside which, baring in mind I've got my laptop in was a relief!Over all, super happy with my new bag and can't recommend enough.

I love this bag and am very happy I bought it. It is well made, solid construction. I got it to use as a day pack while traveling because it’s made well and isn’t too big or too small. It’s not as heavy duty as the original canvas material (it’s a bit softer), but I believe it will still be water resistant enough for my use. I splash it with some water and it beaded and ran off. I also rubbed it into the fabric and couldn’t feel it on the other side. I’m sure it’s not completely waterproof, but as long as you don’t dunk it in water or let it get excessively wet you’ll be fine. I can fit a TON into it and it still feels super light. My only complaint is that the water bottle pockets are super small.I was hoping to fit a Swell bottle in them, but it’s just too big. A regular plastic bottle would fit fine thought. Unfortunate because a big selling point on this for me was that it’s made of recycled materials. Hate to use a plastic bottle (I’m just going to put the bottle in the bag).

The best backpack I have found for my needs. I'm always on the go (gym, work, travel) and commute in London and travel the country with a MacBook Air. I'm a journalist and needed a bag that fits a lot, like this one, that goes with both smart and casual wear. Great squareish shape, non bulky and doesn't make me look like I'm carrying a small fridge! Good pocket at the front for cards and things, there's also two long side slip pockets. I put my umbrella in one of them. The logo on the front is black embroidery and this is the main reason I bought this bag rather than the other Fjallraven ones with the big white reflective logos. I wanted something a bit more streamlined and not too obvious. That and because it's made of recycled material. Straps are thin but don't dig into my shoulders when the bag is packed. The only thing I'm concerned about is that the bottom of the bag could get scuffed and worn over time

I really love this bag. I know people may think it is relatively expensive when you look at it. When you feel it and think I can get a £10 bag which is the same but appearance can be deceiving. It is durable, easy to use due to the way the zips are designed to open the bag and there is load of storage space. I took the bag as a smaller travelling bag to my backpack and it was great. I’m not sure if it claims to be water proof and the material does get wet but all my belongings inside stayed nice and dry despite the outside being drenched. There is one reason why I did not give it 5 out of 5. In hot weather, especially if it’s hot and humid the colour of the bag transfers onto your clothes if you are wearing anything light. When you read the instructions it does mention that this is a possibility so... otherwise a great little bag.

I’ve never had a kanken as I only see young people using it, but I needed a backpack that could fit my computer (macbook air 13”) and liked the format as it fits more than a regular one. Decided for this model as is more muted and made with recycled bottles (I’m a recycling maniac). As I needed the item before the delivery date of their website, I went ahead with Amazon (they are not an auth0rised seller) but was ready to send back in case it wasn’t an original.I don’t have any comparison base other than google, but checked for the telltale signs and it looks alright, so I’m keeping it. Took a few pictures so whoever is thinking in buying it from Amazon can decide for themselves. If it’s a copy,it’s a very well made one and hopefully the maker had the integrity of using recycled bottles (for my peace of mind)

This is my first recycled kanken and I love it! The fabric has a softer feel than the stiffer Kanken Classic. The size is the same as the Kanken Classic, but I like the embroidered logo on the Re-Kanken. It has a more grown-up feel to it. Quality stitching and craftsmanship is apparent throughout the bag. Time will tell if the recycled fabric wears as well as the original, but this will be my daily pack for work, so I'll update this review after a few months of heavy use to see how it is holding up.I will consider getting another in a brighter shade in the future. I purchased from seller All Outdoors and fulfilled by Amazon. Price was good and delivery was prompt.Backpack appears to be authentic.

Perfect for my uni bag- even with my laptop (which perfectly fits in the back pocket) and many heavy books, there is space and the straps are still comfortable (although I am wearing jumpers and coats at the moment so that does work as padding, I’d have to test wearing just a tshirt). My only criticism is that I bought a water bottle which doesn’t fit in the side pocket even though it seems rather slim. Of course that’s my fault, I didn’t bother measuring it and knew I was taking that risk, but it was one of the slimmest bottles I could find! (Although If we are talking plastic bottles, the Smart Water bottle is the perfect size for the side pockets!)

It took just a week to arrive Saudi Arabia by DHL " paid 49.82$ for shipping .. It's an authentic re-kanken.. I ordered the kanken in Slate colour and i was worried the grey colour will be close to green but it's so beautiful, it's more like blue grey. The embroidered mono logo gives it a more vintage and classic look, it goes with every outfit i could possibly wear .. " from a personal perspective I wouldn't wear a kanken with a red logo with a pink dress for example, but this one goes nicely with everything ".Expensive but worths every penny.. and above all it's a kanken that truly says without nature we're nothing.

I was a bit underwhelmed when I received the item: I didn't think it was particularly sturdy and seemed a bit flimsy. However, since using it a couple of times I've realised that my initial perception was wrong. It has plenty of space in the main compartment and even fits my handbag in - leaving room for other things too - when I'm going walking with my partner. It has outside pockets too.Initially, I thought the straps looked uncomfortable but once I was wearing it, they were absolutely fine. So no complaints here and now I'm just wondering what other colour to buy this in!

If you're looking at getting Fjällräven Kånken, you already know why you want one. But I can just re-iterate that this bag is so brilliant, even though you may look like a wannabe VSCO girl - You can fit so much in the bag and the quality is just superb!! A really handy bag to travel with as well since you can roll/fold it up!! Just wish the side pockets were bigger to fit a decent sized water bottle but that is the design of the bag! So just beware when you order, the side pockets are really only good for smaller water bottles or other items such as a small umbrella.

Like the other reviews say, the color is very different in real life than in the picture. Personally, I like this color much better, so it was not an issue for me. It shipped earlier than expected, and I had absolutely no problems throughout the entire process. As for the backpack itself, it's everything I hoped for and more. Much more spacious than it looks, extremely durable, and overall, just very cute. :) The only problem with this is that if you get dust or dirt or whatever on this bag, it will show very easily. Maybe consider keeping a lint roller handy? ?

The backpack is great. I had some doubts after reading some of the reviews/seeing the photos, but my experience was great. The product was brand new, no wear and tear noticeable. The label inside was well sewn on all sides, the pad was intact. It had the appropriate label and product leaflet inside. My version was the yellow re-Kanken, the one made from recycled materials with a slightly different logo (no white background) but it was well made and overall, it's exactly as described.I've added photos for those looking for more details.

This backpack was everything I expected and more! I waited a while to write this review so I could test it out for a few weeks and I am surely not disappointed. It protected my laptop and papers throughout the rainy days and feels very comfortable on my back. Even though this doesn't have the extra pocket for the laptop, it still fits my 13 inch laptop perfectly in the inside slip. I bought this backpack instead of the original due to the eco-friendly and recycled materials! So wonderful and I highly recommend.

I like the colour and the discreet logo. The zip goes all the way down which is a bonus. When the bag is heavy, straps dig into my shoulders, I bought separate shoulder padding for the straps in black(would be nice if they had more colour options) so I use when the bag is heavy.Would of been good if there was padding at the bottom of the bag aswell. The back padding has the option of being removable which is good. The side pouches are narrow so can't really fit big drink bottles.Still a nice backpack.
