I bought this before a long trip to the USA mainly to use as a parasol against the burning sun and I have been pleased with its performance. It is a good size, light enough, sturdy, and provides excellent shade protection.The weather has been particularly hot and dry for our trip and using this umbrella for shade makes a noticeable difference for one's comfort and, for me, far offsets the inconvenience of carrying it around. I got many positive remarks from passersby.The only downside is that the catch used to hold the umbrella open does not slide smoothly. This is annoying when trying to open it quickly.

I used a blue coloured version during a couple of rainy days on the Thames Path Trail this September (2020) and found it very useful and kept the upper half of my body dry despite some windy conditions. It also allowed me to use my iPhone to take photos easily, and also easier access to my pockets etc than a poncho would have. I was so impressed that I bought a silver UV reflective version for a future hike in Italy when conditions allow.

Bloody expensive bit of kit, but looks to be well made with quality materials, if I get any UV related issues whilst I am using this brolly or get even slightly wet when it rains I might have to sue
