Ok, well, the truth of the matter is that Golden Retrievers are reknowned for being a breed that absolutely loves their grub! They don't err on the fussy side of doggy behaviour, and will happily try anything and everything. So, it didn't really surprise me that she loves this branded dog food as much as she does.On a recent trip to the vet, to discuss the impact of my dog having snarfled down a wooden barbecue skewer, my vet was heard to remark that Goldies are natures dustbins. (She politely covered my doggy's ears when she said this). So it is with a little bit of a pinch of salt, that I can say that my dog highly recommends this Eukanuba food! So, moving on to the human impact of her having eaten this new food...Well,firstly, the fact that there is a great big picture of my dog (alright, the doggy model) right there on the front, means that I won't be hard pushed to make sure that I have purchased the correct food.Secondly, I actually highly rate the resealable top of the food sack! I imagine my dog loves it too - although, really, who knows? My husband is considering decanting cheaper dog food into the packaging, just to make use of the resealable top...yes, he is a cheapskate! The food states that is of top quality and precisely for the needs of Golden Retrievers, which makes me feel like a most awesome provider of doggy nutrition.I can also state that she has neither gained, nor lost, any weight since beginning this large sack of Eukanuba, and her delicate stomach has not delighted me with the opportunity to view the food mid-digestion. I am taking this as a very good sign, because she actually has a very sensitive tummy and can usually only stomach Pedigree canned food, and Wag dry food. So, let's look at the less positive aspects of using Eukanuba Golden Retriever food. Honestly, there is not much to criticise about this food, aside from the obvious price tag difference. I must, however, note that during her transition period - where we switched her gradually over to the Eukanuba, she literally stunk the house down! I jest thee not - they must have been able to smell her a mile away!Anyway, thankfully the stench has passed, and she has now almost eaten the entire sack of Eukanuba. I would like to say that the superbly tailored nutrition has allowed her to throw her head about, like a shampoo advert, to make all the other dogs jealous of her wonderfully shiny coat. In actual fact, I believe that she has been telling the collie next door all about her posh new grub, and that he can 'read it and weep' because she will not be sharing one crunchy morsel with him.Overall, I don't think I can knock the Eukanuba...I just have to decide whether to put all the humans in our household onto 'value' products in order to fund her new expensive doggy food habit...

I must confess to a level of scepticism about the value of 'breed-specific' dog food but have faith in the quality of the Eukanuba brand of food - as does our vet - so I expect there is a reasonable rationale behind the concept. If nothing else, it probably makes the feeding guidelines more accurate than with 'mixed-breed' dog food. While on the rather expensive side, Eukanuba dog food definitely seems to be worth it, both from the 'science' point of view, and the opinion of the dogs. All of our dogs are highly enthused by the different varieties of Eukanuba food, even my 2.7kg toy breed puppy who is not food-oriented at all and somewhat difficult to encourage to eat enough. The kibble size is good and would be suitable for dogs of all sizes, not just Golden Retrievers (my maltipoo puppy has pinched quite a few). The claims of '3D dental technology' are difficult to substantiate, but the kibbles are indeed crunchy, if not quite so much so as the Hill's varieties. Most importantly from the dog's point of view - and I'm sure she'd point out that it's HER food - the dog really enjoys it, and while it's difficult to quantify benefits for certain after feeding a food for only a few weeks, there has certainly been no reduction at all in skin and coat quality etc, and no digestive upsets. The bags are easily resealable and keep the food fresh and the portion sizes mean that a bag lasts longer than you would think.Worth spending a little extra to feed this to your furry friends.

After reading the contents and working out the amount he would eat each day it worked out a fair price. So out came the kitchen scales and bagged up the right amount for he's weight. (That way he always gets the same amount each day) However after a visit to the vets for he's check ups, was informed that he was overweight and to reduce he's food.Well he was only getting the amount for he's weight, decided to reduce it and see what happens. For two months returned back to the vets only to be told that he hadn't lost any weight. So reduced it once again, nearly half the amount for what is stated on the side of the bag. Yes he ended up losing some weight, however he stopped losing it and now he's maintained the same weight for over a year. For a 3 year old golden labrador retriever that is 32kg in weight he gets only 150 grams per day. That's 75 grams on the morning and 75 grams for tea. And for over a year he has maintained he's weight at 32kg.He gets walked 2 or 3 times a day at a hour or more pre walk., ok he may get a bone twice a week but that's all he gets, he gets no titbits whatsoever, just he's own food.So the moral of my story is, don't go off the recommended amount, get some kitchen scales and bag up every feed (yes it take a bit of time, but you end up with nearly twice the amount of food. I average around 80 days from 1 bag of a 12kg bag.And for a dog of 32kg, he's in tip top condition.

Grabbed this for my 10 year old Ladrador. She is getting on now and like most older dogs has arthitus and is very slow moving.Normally i feed her those meat trays you get and thought i would try this out on her.1st day i put it down she looked at me as if to say what the hell is that, but i just walked away and left her too it.30 seconds later she had demolished it, come up to me on the sofa, grabbed the sleeve of my cardigan and pulled me back towards the kitchen where she shoved her nose in the bowl and looked up at me with expectant eyes.Poor thing, i didnt give into her tho, but did the same thing at dinner time and she whoomped it down. She has now been on it twice a day for the last week and i have to say i am absolutely amazed at the difference in her.She is more bouncy, happier, a lot livelier, runs like a much younger dog, and when i took her down the beach i couldnt get her off even after 2 hours. Normally when she has had enough, usually after 15 minutes she will saunter up to me and just flop down on the sand and refuse to move, but nope she kept me out for hours.Im really happy she likes it because it feels like having her as a puppy all over again.Only problem is, im absolutely jiggered all the time lolVery highly recommended..

My retriever-type dog loves this food. On the other hand, he also loves eating out of the dustbin and something unidentifiable (and possibly still alive) he dug up in the garden, so I don't really trust his judgement. On the other hand, if the information on the side of this pack is true, there are some outstanding qualities to this food! I especially like that it contains marine gloucosomine which my dog already takes in tablet form. It's also prepared with things like his coat in mind and my dog's shaggy, feathered coat always has looked beautiful but as he's getting on nowadays, needs a little extra nutrients. All in all, he (and I) liked this dog food. It's very expensive and costs about twice what Bakers costs, but Bakers has all those additional colours and flavourings which this food does not have. I will buy it again in spite of the price. One (teeny) problem is that even in my HUGE kitchen, I've nowhere to keep a 12kg bag. However, the seal works amazingly well - better than any other I've used - and small bags can easily be transferred from garage to the house.

I have been using this food now for nearly three weeks and after the recommended4-day introductory period I have to say it is very well received by the dogs. This isclearly premium dog food with first-class ingredients and almost endless detail isavailable into why each ingredient has been included and what it does for your dog.I think it's a fairly expensive product, but (as mentioned) it's quite clear that this isno ordinary dog food and it rather makes one wonder what on earth can be used inmuch cheaper dry dog food? (Perhaps it's better not to wonder?).Lots of dogs and their owners (me!) aren't always the best judge of what they should(and shouldn't)eat both in terms of quality and quantity and I have to say the detailabout the make up of the food is enough to give the uninformed owner (me again)quite a shock about what one should or shouldn't give to their dog from a nutritionalpoint of view. I particularly found the daily intake guide to be very helpful.I think it's a definite improvement over the James Wellbeloved dry food.

Eukanuba Breed Nutrition Golden Retriever Dry Food 12 kgWe have given this to my Mum's Goldie's and they love it. They all finish the bowls up whereas previously on other diets food was left.We have only been giving this diet for a couple of weeks and we are seeing the benefit of good measured nutrition already. Coats are very shiny and they have boundless energy, even the older dog that is getting on a bit.Eukanuba is expensive but you can see why when you read the ingredients list. There is only good nutrition here, no fillers or ash as found in cheaper brands. For big dogs you don't have to feed huge amounts and this helps. These beautiful dogs deserve the best food and we have now found it with this Eukanuba range.12Kg is a large pack so you will need somewhere to store it but the plastic sack has a re-sealable slide system that is brilliant so you don't need to decant into storage containers to store and keep it fresh. I can see why Vets recommend this food now as it is the best !

Eukanuba (along with Royal Canin) make the best complete-feed dog nutrition products on the market (in my humble opinion). If you care about your dog you want to give it the the best chance in life that you can - that means ensuring a balanced nutritious diet suited to the animal's age, size and its natural behaviours, lifestyle and activity levels. This retriever-specific product is scientifically designed to be ideally suited to a large active family dog that is naturally full of vitality. It contains just the right balance of fibre, vitamins and minerals to make sure that your dog stays in tip top condition and as resistant as possible to the many canine ailments which can occur as a consequence of nutritional deficits. It is a wee bit expensive compared with some inferior products on the market and the sack has been down-sized from 15 - 12 kg but in my view it is still the brand of choice and the way my dogs wolf-down Eukanuba complete feeds I'm sure they would agree.

This dry dog food is another in the Eukanuba range aimed at giving your dog the very best ingredients for their good health. Whichever one you choose for your dog you can be sure they will enjoy it, the food comes in smallish easy to chew pieces that are loaded with supplements to make the dog's coat shine, aid good digestion and keep their bones strong and healthy. The bags the food comes in is made of a good sturdy plastic with a zip top that keeps the food fresh and as the dogs don't seem to eat as much as with other brands the food, though pricey, does last for longer than usual so being able to keep it fresh is plus.My dog has tried a few of the different types of Eukanuba dog food and he is doing tremendously well on this brand I can't praise it highly enough. This one is aimed at the Golden Retriever, which my dog isn't, but he doesn't know or care. He happily munches his way through it with gusto.

I have used Iams as food for my cats for some time now. However, I have never tried the canine equivalent, Eukanuba, until now. As it is more expensive than equivalent dog food one has to err towards caution, as it wouldn't be the best experience if you paid good money for this food and your dog doesn't like it. However, I am pleased to announce that my dog Loves it, although as most people know Man's Best Friend doesn't have the most discerning of palates. My dog has always been healthy and shiny-coated, so it's hard to tell exactly what effect this dog food is having on her health-wise, but she continues to be energetic and wet-nosed so suffice to say it's having no negative effect on her, which is of course a good thing. Hence I would recommend this dog food to anybody wishing to prolong a dog's good health. The only drawback is the cost, and I leave that to the individual owner to decide upon.

We have three labrador retrievers, one of eight (who is trying the senior food) and two female chocolate labs of two and a half each. The two younger girls have been fed the Retriever food for a couple of weeks now. Their coats are glossier and they are bouncing with life. I might add they were bouncy and happy before, but often hyperactive due to the colourings in their famous brand complete food.Within a few days of moving to the new feed, they were calmer, more attentive and we had absolutely no digestive issues. The girls do look very well and even our vet commented on their coats during a vaccination appointment last week. It's an expensive food compared to Wagg or Bakers, but with none of the nasties and it does seem to really suit our girls. The shape of the food pieces seems to have made a difference to their teeth, after comments from the vet on how wonderful they are!Give it a try.

We have an 8 year old brown Labrador retriever and his tummy has become very delicate with standard tin and dried food really upsetting it, making him sick at both ends. The only thing that seems to agree with him is the budget Greyhound dry food mix the vet recommended (and he liked as a puppy), so he has been exclusively on that. However we felt that a mix created for retrievers might offer some benefit so we tried a 12kg bag of this Eukanuba Golden retriever dry food. We give the Eukanuba food mixed in 50:50 with the Greyhound food that he is used to. Perhaps he is a bit more wiffy when on this mix as well, but generally he's fine with it now. He likes the mix and more importantly it doesn't upset his stomach. So 4* - although it is rather expensive at more than twice the price of his fave Greyhound mix per kg, so I doubt we will use this Eukanuba dry food a lot.

Eukanuba Golden Retriever dog food is designed to address weight control and mobility issues which are common ailments in this breed. With big appetites they have a tendency to obesity, something our vet has also advised on, or to paraphrase what she said "they are stomachs on legs", and the extra weight can cause problems with their joints.Having gradually introduced the Eukanuba food to our dog's diet the kibble is certainly being wolfed down with enthusiasm. I am pleased to note that there are no artificial preservatives or flavourings and it has not caused any tummy upsets. Given the size of the bag, the ziplock seal is great both at keeping the food fresh and at preventing the dog from helping himself when left unattended. As with most things in life you pay for better quality and Eukanuba is not cheap but you can certainly save some money by shopping around.

Ok, having loved this companies products for Holly, when asked to look after my parents Retreiver, Clover, I thought that it would be best to get her on the same product until I saw that I could get one specially formulated for her breed. So before her arrival a big bag landed and I prepared for a mini whirlwind to arrive. As expected with this product, her fur became glossy, she bounced around like a puppy and to be honest all round she was very happy (and managed to lost a few pounds over the couple of weeks I had her.) The only problem with this product was when my parents came round and have discovered how much she loves the stuff.Yet, they had to admit that when they saw her, she looked better, she had more energy and all round was a happier dog in herself. They're now buying it for her and they have to say that they're pleased that they made the swap.

Kelly loves this food so much that she has now turned our garden into a racetrack. If she is trying to convince us that by doing a few laps of the lawn, that she has burned off enough calories that she can have another portion, she is going to continue to be disappointed. The food comes in a high quality, resealable bag, with clear guidance on portion sizes. What I don't like is the pushy recommendation that you stick to this food exclusively.Whilst there is a difference in nutritional requirements between breeds, there is nothing on the bag which explains how significant this is or what evidence there is that this particular breed specific food outperforms a more general dry food.I am unconvinced at the moment that for golden retrievers, there is a difference worth paying so much extra for.Full marks for quality, but not so good on value for money.
