Wow... this pack is everything I was asking for and more. It is by far the most comfortable and versatile pack I have ever worn!First, the hipbelt is nice and wide, and really does a magnificent job transferring the weight of the pack off your shoulders. Combined with the adjustable fit system, I was able to make minor adjustments until the pack fit absolutely perfectly. I recently went backpacking in the desert for the first time, and even with ~13 lbs of water added to my usual load, I was still more comfortable than in my old pack. The +10L system is genius. The top of the bag (under the lid) can be cinched up in two different places to accommodate either a 50L or 60L load. I loaded it up on my way out,but once I had eaten some food, it was awesome to be able to easily cinch the pack down to the new volume. This bag is much taller and thinner than any other bag I have ever tried on. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but after a few minutes of walking around I realized how much more stable I felt with the weight being a little more vertical. I'm not a super wide person, so I'm used to balancing my own weight vertically rather than horizontally, and this pack really caters to that. The pockets are smartly placed and where you need them without constricting where/how you can pack or making you feel like you're carrying around a pound of unnecessary zippers. The side and back pocket stretch to accommodate nearly anything you want to fit inside. The sleeping bag compartment can be kept separate, or zipped away from the inside to allow the entire pack to become one large compartment. The zippered divider remains attached to the pack, so it can't be fully removed to save weight on trips where you aren't worried about rain. I usually keep it open to use the full amount of space that the pack offers, but it's nice to know that if I get caught in a rainstorm and want to put wet things away from everything else, I can re-separate the bottom. There are a ton more features that you can read about in REI's description, so I'll wrap up by saying the only two cons I have for this pack are 1) The weight. It's pretty heavy... but the support mechanisms are superior to many other big brands, and a 35lb load of sand bags at the store felt much lighter in this pack than in any of the others I tried. 2) I wish the hip belt pockets were a bit larger...I can't fit everything that I want in easy reach up front, and there aren't daisy chains to easily attach more pouches. Still trying to figure out how to best solve that problem, but I'm so happy with this pack that it's really not a huge deal. I can fit my phone, knife, chapstick, and a snap-on camera lens (barely) in the pockets... just wish they had a couple of extra inches so I could squeeze in a snack and a map and everything would be perfect!

Greetings from Costa Rica.I bought this backpack for a solo walk of 10 days, 200 miles, from the Caribbean coast to the Pacific Coast. Beeing at the tropics, my main concern was heat, but also, on a average of 20 miles walks per day, at 10 kilos load, backpain was also an issue. Well, the backpack was extreamely breathable and altought I became tired of carrying the backpack, as soon as I take it off, I was surprised not to feel any pain in my back. Remember I was walking on asphalt, the sun was out (for the first 3 days at a 100%) and the average temperature was easily 98F°.I will really appreciate a couple of small pockets for a lighter, pocket knife or other items. This could be great on the "chest belts".The pockets on the waist belt were great. One thing I did not find on the instructions is where to place the torso adjustment and this is the reazon of the Vari Quick adjustment system picture attached. Let see if I can explain myself. If your torso is 18 inches, where should you place the Vari Quick adjustment? I did see a video on YouTube and I asked this question. Nicely, the lady of the video told me that she will let Deuter know about, but at this moment I have seen no reply. If I am correct, this is not a backpack problem, this is a user manual problem. The backpack is great, I strongly recommended. I also got the 3 liters water system and the rain cover. I may comment about them in the respective "page".

This was the 4th Deuter backpack I've had since my first Futura 28 in 2001.It was my first "serious" trekking backpack though, as the first 3 were 24-28 liters which I use daily usually on my motorbike to hold gym clothes and/or laptop. For a 3-day trip to Havasupai Falls a couple of weeks ago I knew I needed a larger more heavy-duty bag. In came the AirContact Lite 50+10. When we left the trailhead for the 11 mile hike to campground my AC was loaded up to 30+ pounds. While it was heavy yes, the 2 other hikers I was with that had not invested in a better pack such as Deuter said my AC was way more comfortable than theirs. It held the perfect amount of clothing and food for my 3 days/nights away from civilization.I suppose I could go another couple of nights with it too as long as I packed smart. I was mulling over whether to get this or the Futura Pro 50+10 as my other 3 backpacks had the cool AirComfort netting which I love. After some heavy research, I went with the AirContact as reviewers said the Contact against your back is slightly more stable for heavier loads. The Futura Pro does have that center flap that was pretty appealing and maybe a couple of more pockets, but in the end and after the great Havasupai Falls experience, this AirContact will work just great for future adventures. Thanks as always Deuter!

AT the begining I didn't know which backpack was the best to buy. So after many days to search I saw that this was a good option. Then I saw also the reviews about this product and I'am really happy of this product. I had this Back packs SInce One Year ago and I had it to make a long travel and It fit a lot of stuff and also I had espace to put a bottle of alcohol . It was really heavy but I had to say that I'am really satisfied.Comfortable for you back, I really encourage you to buy it. I mean if you want a good backpack you have inverted on it. Thanks for this product.

This bag is awesome and packed with backpacking goodness. First off, the Vari-Quik size adjustment system makes quick work of finding the optimal fit for any sized load. Ventilation on the back is a drastic improvement over previous packs I have owned, sweaty guy problems. Separate bottom compartment and hip pockets make it easy to have some items handy quickly. Trekking pole holders are really nifty as I don't use them full time. Overall this is a super durable pack that is perfectly sized for 1 week outings!

Great back pack. I’ve used it twice. I’m carrying about 20 lbs without my water. Lots of room and adjustable depending on your height so if you are short like me, not an issue. Very comfortable. I like the separate compartment at top (which is also removable) and a separate compartment for your tent

Great pack for the money. Held up just fine during a forty miles hike though the Olympic Mountains. Plenty of storage, enough organization to keep things separated, and the straps and belt are quite comfortable.

Excellent backpack. Great for travelling, easy to pack, has a lot of convenient pockets and is water proof.Only down side is a lack of cover for really heavy rain. You need to purchase this separately.

Went on a north rim to south rim backpacking hike at the Grand Canyon, pack held everything I needed and was very comfortable. Weighed 40 lbs at the beginning of the trip

Took one trip with it, 5 days, did quite well, didnt hurt my collar bone or hips like the previous pack I had. Happy so far!
