This new definitive version of Dead Island has been given an amazing new look. The environmental graphics are near to Dying Light's look with beautiful detailed vistas and realistic weather changes from swirling mini whirlwinds to sudden black rain clouds blocking the sun out in the city and at the beach resort you can really feel the heat of the midday sun as you slash and hack through the psychotic infected. The biggest transformation is the jungle, it just looks incredible. Everything you see in the game looks highly detailed and realistic, which you'll find yourself stopping to look at in between playing.Gameplay and story is the same with nothing significantly different that I've come across yet,but as said, it all looks beautifully revamped including the cut-scenes, and the Ryder White campaign looks really good to. There are some special effects like 'blurring' which only kicks in when your character is fatigued and if you know Dead Island you will notice a lot of cosmetic and colour changes like the Gotu Kola you'll find are no longer red and the cars you drive have changed colour. There is a big annoying change to the cars you drive in the city, which you'll notice the second you drive off. The slow-motion effect when you decapitate an infected looks really good and is very satisfying when you see your newly upgraded high-voltage machete slice through and electrocute its diseased flesh.Controlling the characters feels a lot more smoother especially in combat, but it's still sometimes hard-work to jump onto things. I started playing as Purna and she definitely has a new spring in her step and can easily jump onto most vehicles, but when in the city and you're suddenly encountered by lots of infected and you need to jump onto a wheelie bin and over a wall to escape them, it does at times feel like the agility level of the character you are controlling suddenly resembles that of a seventeen stone couch potato, and not at all the muscular athletic types that all the main characters clearly possess. In Dead Island you can only jump onto or over things, you can't climb everything like in Dying Light, except up and down a few ladders. In pitch-black places like the sewers the torch is still very annoying, because every minute or so you have to wait in the darkness for it to recharge before you can move on. Running seems to be quicker, but as before it's not long before you're out of breath and need to stop to regain your stamina. It all adds to the tension, but as you upgrade your skills and weaponry everything gets easier giving you the confidence to stand and attack the hordes rather than run away or jump to safety. For those who need to know, this UK PS4 single disc version only has the first Dead Island game and the Ryder White campaign actually on the disc itself, the full follow up game Dead Island Riptide is a download. The box contains a code for you to download Riptide and another new game called Retro Revenge. Games these days on disc can be around 40 GB and even more, so I don't know why the developers haven't bothered to put 'Riptide' on a physical copy because it is only about 7 GB... Retro Revenge is 1.9 GB.If you're a fan of Dead Island or haven't even played it yet, you'll be well impressed with this Definitive Edition. Even though it's the same game it does feel like playing a new game because it just looks so good and I'm sure Riptide will look just as good when I play it next. With its new detailed graphics and amazing new lighting effects this Definitive Edition overhaul certainly brings the original Dead Island very closely to next generation merit. Not to be missed. Highly recommended.

I have been playing video games for almost 40 years and I have to say this is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played.Let's start with the bad. When you have to drive it is awful as sometimes the car refuses to steer but luckily you are not forced to drive for long sections of the game as you spend most of your time on foot. The other bad thing is that some doors require you to do some stupid timed movement but luckily these doors are few and far between and I just keep hitting square until they open. The good. I am playing as the aboriginal woman because she is the gun specialist and her skill trees are fantastic. Her fury skill is very good as it will take down most of the bosses or at very least do a lot of damage. The weapons are fantastic and can be upgraded. For instance you can take a machete, some wires, duct tape and a battery and you have an electrified machete you can throw at zombies and watch them stand doing a hilarious electrocution dance as they die! Also I love my character as she swears at the zombies and her lines are hilarious.Seriously if you like zombie movies and shows then buy this game. It isn't perfect but for this price it is fantastically enjoyable!

I bought both of these games when they were first released and really enjoyed dead island despite the few bugs it had had a lot of fun playing co-op online. I didn't really enjoy riptide so much due to the setting but it was still fun to play. I thought I would try the definitive edition as 2 games for the price is good value and I wanted some more zombie action having finished dying light and the dlc the following. The graphics have had a makeover and looks a lot better though not quite upto the standards of dying light. The character models looked bad in the original and don't look much better now. There are some new weapons added . There is only one disc which is dead island and riptide needs to be downloaded via a code from the PlayStation store. Not as fluid as dying light and there is no parkour climbing in these games but they are still fun to play and I never get sick of slicing up zombies. There are still a few bugs present but nothing to really spoil the games. If they had been the normal 40 quid plus I probably wouldn't have bought it but for this cheap price I am happy to play them again and I am enjoying it.

5 stars for the game. but not a great service from amazon. After playing dying light enhanced edition I went to this (never played this before) and it looks and feels great so its well worth the money. you can tell where techland learnt from dead island and evolved / changed things on dying light. deffo a must have for any fans of the zombie genre and dying light. As regards to amazon they get a big thumbs down, as i pre ordered this, they kept telling me not a problem with the order despite on the release date order still still not dispatched. i rang up they still said the order was fine and would be delivered. then the next day i get an e mail, not in stock...! I thought amazon was a bit more on the ball then that.anyway it was easier to go straight to psn and download it there. this has put me off pre ordering games now. but besides all that, enjoying the game, look forward to working my way through rest of this and then on to riptide, ooh re5 remastered and then dead island 2 later in the year, big ups techland :)

If you played the original version of the two games on the old generation consoles you will love this! The game still feels and plays just like old gen, however there are some subtle improvements and also some slight faults. Things like graphics have definitely improved, not 100% noticeable at first but textures have been improved drastically even adding some additional details along with certain objects such as cars completely revamped. The only downside (for me) has been glitching. My game has been experiencing some glitches with objects or quests, but these are not drastic in the slightest. Another sweet bonus (not 100% if true not really checked) but i believe the game comes with all the original dlc included with it!To conclude, past players of the old generation games will love this if you are willing to go through and beat the games again, also even new players i feel will also enjoy the game because whats not to love about slicing and dicing zombies in an open world!

Nothing beats the shock and frustration of accidentally getting trapped with a suicider, or the sense of achievement when you perfectly time a head chop with your modified electric shock katana to a running zombie maniac, this was just a fraction of what Dead Island offered for the PS3, not to mention the constant weapon modifications, upgrading, and looting everywhere you tread with tension, all while dealing with many sorts of madness. These are the types of things I like in a game so buying the definitive remaster for the PS4 was a no brainer, dying light graphics with a next gen engine works a treat, it still has brought very few of the PS3 versions glitches over, for example a dispatched zombies leg bouncing down a flight of steps like a fish gasping for water or the odd arm visible through a suitcase but I find these minor glitches hilarious and in no way off putting, best buy for me this year and should tie in nicely for number 2.

Loved the game. Great graphics, gameplay, and storyline. The vehicle driving is well done as well. There is a long and short campaign that merge the stories at the endgame. The long campaign is the main storyline featuring one of 4 characters. Every level is detailed and lengthy, but not boring. Even the side quests (technically the grinders) move smoothly as the collection rate for necessary items isn't high at all.The short campaign follows a law officer trying to find his wife, and eventually meeting up with the 4 survivors from the main storyline. The ending has a twist. One any difficulty the game is still challenging. Ammo, and carry space, are realistically done, and there is a surplus of good weapons to be found.I didn't want the game to end, but felt satiated and satisfied when it was finished. Thank you Amazon for giving a huge discount on this product in India. It was worth the time and money.

Love the DI games and have returned to them more times than any other game apart from The Last Of Us. Next gen graphics add to the already excellent PS3 ones and the shadows/blurring etc. make the whole experience clearer. Still the same satisfaction from hacking and slashing through a horde of zombies but found a lot of glitches on play through and had to reload to last checkpoint. These include Afran's hideout, Ope's journey back to Mowen's boat etc. etc. Still a complete blast but they really should have ironed out the bugs before releasing this. Haven't played Riptide or the 2D game yet but will expect more of the same. Still a snip at 23 notes, go for gold all over again!

So much better than the copy I bought for Xbox 360. Colourful beyond expectation. I actually enjoy playing this PS4 version. Gameplay is Amazing. Weapons work better to my advantage. Dead Island, Definitive Edition, is Truly Worth Buying. I'm a Gamer and I love this game now, the way it has been re-mastered. Gory?, Yes. Scary?, Yes. Room for improvement?, Some, Yes.We Buy Games. We Play Games. We Review Games. We do this to make the games better for us. How do the Developers Know What We Want if we Don't tell them.Dead Island - Definitive Edition. Champion!.

Well worth the price. Still got that uneasy feeling as you hear a screaming zombie charging at you and the growns hiding in the shadows or standing on the roof of a car as they gather around you pulling at your legs. Having played both on the pc its even better in gameplay and looks on the Playstation. Upgrading weapons is nice and simple, controls work well for me and feel natural. In short...if you are a Walking Dead fan you will love this. Great game great price.

I was so happy when this came out for PS4. I remember years ago I did play some of it but at the time I didn't really get it. When I saw it came out I thought I would give it another go and I'm so glad I did. Because, graphics are so much clearer nowadays it makes games 100x better. This game is such a good game. Who doesn't love a zombie game? I swear great zombie games are my fav. I've been waiting for Dead Island 2 for ages now.

2.6.2016

I love Dead Island, both the original and Riptide, the original games always feel good compared to the modern such as Dying Light. The definitive looks crisp on PlayStation 4 having played the original on XB360, graphics are lush and the gameplay feels much smoother. At least this will keep Dead Island fans occupied before the possible release of Dead Island 2 this year. Well done again Deep Silver :)

So after putting some serious game time into these games on last gen, it's awesome to be playing them once again. I imagine the people buying this are ones that have played it before, so I won't go into the ins and outs of the game, but long story short it's the same games with updated graphics, which is not complaint. You get a lot for your money, 2 games with all DLC included. Bargain!

Completed this on the ps3 so many times and very nearly got the platinum so I was a little dubious on getting it but started playing this with a friend online and I've loved it all over again.I've gotten to the city and with the ps4 version I really love the weather and fire effects?. Even the sound I think has improved from the ps3 version especially when I have the headset on.

This contains Dead Island and the sequel Dead Island Riptide. It's an open world RPG where you have to fight for survival against zombies. You get a lot of sharp edged and blunt weapons along with guns along the way. It resembles AMC's The Walking Dead. There are several optional side quests given by various people throughout the game along with the main quest.
