After years of being a Jansport user, I decided to give Dakine a try and I am so not disappointed. This pack is a wonderfully convenient size with a good variety of storage compartments. I love the bottle holders on both sides of the pack. I now have to upgrade to a 33L pack, but only because of the amount of stuff I need to carry around school with me.This pack comfortably holds a laptop, and a binder and textbook (or two binders, or two textbooks, etc. you get the idea). I use the middle pocket to store my pens, pencils, iClicker, a small first aid kit, travel size lotion bottle, a mini stapler, wallet, and a pencil/pen case. The sunglass pocket usually hold my inhaler, chapstick, stress ball, hair ties, and other small items. The small pocket in the front usually stores a mini lint roller, glue stick, and a USB phone charging cord.I really do love this pack, but if just has turned out to be too small for me. I'm a microbiology major and take roughly 15-20 units a semester and need to carry at least two 1.5" binders, planner, laptop, lab manuals, and the occasional textbook along with all the other random assorted things I mentioned, and unfortunately this pack just doesn't quite cut it in that department for me. In the end though, I do not regret buying this pack and plan to hang on it it for many years for stuff like overnight trips.

I bought this backpack to carry for my commute instead of a carrying a cross body purse and an Eastpak side bag.The struggle of choosing the "perfect" backpack was not easy. I was trying to decide between this backpack or the Dakine Crystal backpack.> Garden backpack = 20L, 4-1/2 stars, $44.95> Crystal backpack = 23L, 5 stars, $38.97I like the Garden backpack because of the style, size, the mesh side pockets and the number of positive reviews.I liked the Crystal backpack because of the color (Marlo), style, price and the number of stars in the reviews. From looking at the above, the Crystal backpack was the obvious choice. I read all the reviews and made of list of pros & cons. I went to the Dakine website, did numerous comparisons between these two plus the Jewel, Prom, Milo & even Girls smaller-sized styles. It was tough making the choice but I decided on this one because it was a bit smaller (20L instead of 23L) and had side mesh pockets to carry my large water bottle. --- If I chose the other style, carried my water bottle inside and it leaked, then I would ruin it. I didn't want to take that chance. So far I am happy with my choice because of the size, color (Lattice floral) with the contrasting teal color and, of course, the side mesh pockets to carry my water bottle. Thanks for all your positive reviews.

When I opened the package I was so worried that it was too small, so I decided to right then and there to take all of the books out of my bulky adidas backpack and shove them in here. This is a magic bag! They all fit! I should note that I am a college student and an English major at that. Dakine is an awesome brand. I put the most books that I carry in one given class day in there (1 large and 1 medium sized latin books, a couple thin latin volumes, an anthology, and two notebooks) and I am pretty sure that this backpack is bigger on the inside. It didn't ballon up or even really looked like it had that many books in it. Not only is it bigger on the inside, but it feels durable and light too.The weight distribution and padding is phenomenal. I feel like I could put my Macbook in there fairly safely as well. I don't usually carry my Macbook with me, but I might with this backpack! :DI will say that if you are carrying more than like 3 large books (like large chem books or really big anthologies to go up to a 25 Liter bag, but definitely stick with Dakine!).

I love this little Dakine Backpack. I carry it to work on a daily basis or to carry my laptop and current novel when traveling. I have even carried instead of a purse. At 20L this is not a huge pack. However, it easily carries my 13 in Macbook Pro, 2 medium Moleskine notebooks, a sketchbook and/or a novel easily. It has a felt top pocket that is meant for sunnies, but I use it for flash drives and my SD drive. it also has plenty of room and pockets for all of the pens and sticky notes I carry as well as chargers and gum.Part of the reason I love this pack so much is the well-cushioned straps. I have trouble with the muscles in my shoulders knotting under pressure and the straps on this little pack distribute and cushion the weight so that I don't have as much trouble with my shoulders. Also, the size limits me to fewer items, since I am sort of a pack rat and will carry things for no reason.

I used to have a shark backpack - it wore out after 2 years of constant use. I figured it was time to get a durable bag that had both a lot of pockets and a place to put my water bottle. This is the perfect bag (got the Sherwood pattern). As a college student, I'm always lugging around heavy books, but the padding in this backpack makes it so much easier to bear, and remains sleek without sagging or bulking up. The size is perfect and the red interior gives it a modern flashy look that I appreciate since it contrasts incredibly against the darker design I chose. It has plenty of pockets for pens and little compartments for misc items. The laptop sleeve is convenient and the water bottle pouches on the side is just what I need since - from experience - putting beverages in with my books is a huge risk.I have a feeling this will last me a long time and my friends love it, too.

I was a little put off by all of the reviews saying that it was too small to fit much inside. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it is actually quite roomy. It is a smaller sized backpack in general, but it can fit a lot of books. My 15.5" laptop fit snugly in the laptop pocket, which was also a surprising plus considering it touts a capacity for a 14" laptop. The soft sunglasses pocket is awesome. There are two additional soft pockets in the smaller pouch for your phone or an electronic device. It was between this and the JanSport Right Pack for me. I chose this one because it felt more durable and because the the straps on the Dakine are much thicker and padded. It is also quite a bit smaller and looks less gigantic on a petite person.

I'm giving this backpack 5 stars because it's the perfect size for me, it looks great, and it's functional. I've been looking for months for a cute backpack with a padded laptop sleeve for my 13" macbook pro, but everything else I found was way too big, bulky, and basically made for men. My laptop fits great but if you have anything bigger than a 15" you would probably need a bigger backpack. I can keep quite a bit of stuff in this backpack without it looking like I have a ton of stuff in it. The shoulder straps are padded and comfortable and the organization pockets are functional. I feel comfortable storing my sunglasses and all my electronics in this backpack because there are plenty ofsmall pockets to keep them secure.

I searched for ages to find a replacement for my worn out back pack and opted for the Dakine Garden 20L in Salima print. The backpack has many pockets, but if you fill the front main pocket, then you are in effect reducing the room inside the main back pack. The laptop sleeve is well padded for a laptop or if you need to carry documents, but reduces the capacity of the back for carrying things like clothes, shoes etc. The zips are very sturdy and feels well constructed. I am very happy with my purchase, perfect for everyday or an overnight stay.

Bought this for a friend, who needed something of a medium size. This one has good shoulder straps that give more support than those baggy nylon backpacks; she loves the outside zipper pocket, and uses the side mesh panels to hold phone and keys. Has room for everything she needs, looks tidy and stylish. Important to her, because of disability she can't use a shoulder purse. This backpack provides good distribution of weight without becoming a gigantic monster. Dakine has amazing designers, both for exterior and for engineering. Love these!

Since buying this product its been used for the entire school year. Including various amounts of weight and so far the shape of the backpack has kept up. There are no tears, not even a scratch. When it does get a bit dirty it is washable and it looks almost just as new as when it forst arrived. This is a good investment and i would recommend this backpack brand to others over your average Jansport and Herschel backpacks. The subtle designs against the black background is something i also get complimented a lot on. Would purchase again.

I was drawn to the Dakine brand while standing in the security line at the airport. A girl in front of me had one and it was the perfect combination of style and function. My only complaint (if I am being super critical) is that the side pockets (presumably for beverage containers) is large. If you bend over, whatever you have in that pocket is going to fall out. If you are carrying a glass container this is going to make a mess (speaking from experience). Other than that one thing, the bag is perfect!

This backpack is AWESOME! I'm a New Yorker and needed a day backpack that could keep up with my fast-paced lifestyle. And, this backpack doesn't disappoint! It sturdy, durable, and thoughtfully designed. I especially like the reversed zippers. The sunglass and smaller compartments are also lined with ultra-soft fleece, which I love. Not to mention, I get several compliments on the patchwork camo design. I highly recommend any Dakine backpack!

this backpack has everything i need. a pouch to hold my macbook, plenty of room for my books and notebooks, a small sunglasses pouch, plus the exterior pouch with another zippered pouch inside, and pencil holders. a bottle holder on each side on the outside, too. i absolutely love the fit of this bag when i carry it, i love the design and color. great purchase for anyone who wants a laptop backpack, or just a really nice backpack in general.

I really like this backpack for traveling. It fits my electronics, laptop, books, etc in the main compartment quite nicely. It also has a front compartment for pens, passports, tissues, etc. On the very top is a small zipped area for whatever small items you need readily available such as headphones or money. The nicest part is that the inside of the backpack is a bright teal or aqua colour so you can see all of your items easily.

I use this backpack for work and I'm thoroughly pleased. It's the perfect size for A4 folders, a 13in laptop, and lunch! The straps are comfortable and there are just enough pockets to be practical but not overwhelming. I love the geometric camo print. My only (tiny) complaint is that I wish the side pockets were just a tad bigger - an umbrella fits well, but a water bottle is a tight squeeze. Other than that, it's perfect!
