I have two of these carriers because they are so well-made and easy to use. I like the fact that the handle is attached to the bottom part of the carrier, which gives added security. It is also far easier to put a (reluctant) cat inside this type of carrier than a side loading one. Neither of my cats are good travellers and they both do their best to imbalance the carrier as you're walking with it, by throwing themselves at one end and forcing the basket to tip sideways. However the handle and basket are sturdy enough to withstand such antics! But as someone else has pointed out, there is a major flaw in the design of the carrier. The feeding and petting opening can be head-butted by a cat from the inside, and forced open. My male cat is a large breed and weighs 5.7kg - there is no way he should be able to fit through the small hatch, but he forced it open, wriggled out and ended up running wildly round the car on the way to the vets.I have since noticed that one carrier has a much stronger catch on the feeding/petting opening than the other one. I bought them a few months apart but the design is exactly the same, so there shouldn't really be any difference. Even with the stronger catch properly shut, my male cat is still able to get out by repeatedly pushing his head upwards until the catch gives way.So I have had to secure this opening with cable ties and tape, which spoils the lovely aesthetic carrier!Thankfully the main opening is at the other end so the carrier is still functional but it bothers me that it has a design fault. If the flimsy catch was replaced by the same locking mechanism that secures the main opening, I don't think Houdini cats would be able to escape.I am yet to find a better carrier, so still rate this very highly. Many people stop to admire the carriers too, and ask where I got them from. The vets also really like the design because they can do a preliminary examination of the cat whilst still inside, which is great for timid cats.

I took a chance in using this carrier to collect my cat from a hospital stay. I added a towel that had been sprayed with Feliway, and a valerian pillow, but the carrier had no smell of home because it was straight from the box. I needn’t have worried because she curled up for the journey, favouring the end with the extra vents, and occasionally she came along for a little chin tickle before settling back down. She did cry a little to start with but, overall, she spent less time being upset on this 40 mile journey than on a typical 2 mile trip to the vet.The box felt sturdy and it didn’t swing while I carried it. The handle locks in but not as much as one might like if they had an energetic cat.My hands aren’t in great shape but I managed the latches without any problem. It contained no plasticky smell. It is narrower on the base where it is basket-like in nature, but that wasn’t a problem. I’d say she had more turning space than usual and that she had plenty of room, more than in her usual medium sized carrier. It looks a bit special too.I will keep it around the house and see if she wants to sleep in it while she is still too weak to climb onto my bed. I get the feeling that it is a cosy box where a cat would feel nicely cocooned. Thank you to the Amazon community for answering my question around whether it was too dark in there. It wasn’t.

I've had cats and their carriers for over 40 years, and this is by far the best carrier I have ever had. The big carry handle is attached to the base and not the lid as it is with most carriers, so it is really secure and sturdy. It folds down so you can open the top to put the cat in and out with ease and the little mini lid at the back is perfect for putting a comforting hand in to keep the cat calm - ideal in a waiting room full of dogs at the vet! When that little lid is open, however, take care with small or slender cats as it might be possible for them to escape out of it. The main compartment is spacious enough for my (Siamese) cats - one at a time; I wouldn't put more than one cat in (unless they are very small)to ensure enough room to move around and for comfort. The ventilation holes are large enough for the cat to see out but not large enough to get out of, and the sloping front allows them to see where we are going, so they don't seem so hemmed in (I imagine, anyway). Since I've had these carriers, my cats don't seem nearly so stressed when travelling, so I would highly recommend. The only negative comment I can make is the that fake rattan look is a bit naff in my opinion, but that's a very minor thing.

Love the design of this cat carrier. Bought it in an attempt to transport my sweet little cat to the the vets. Said sweet cat turns into the cat from hell every time we go to the vets and is absolutley impossible to get into a front loader. I have a big Pet Caddy for my other larger cat which is also a top loader and tried to get a medium one of the same type for my smaller 'sweet' cat, but apparently they have been discontinued, so opted for this as an alternative. It looks strong and sturdy enough to withstand the treatment it will surely have but I'm hoping I will be able to drop her in and close the lid. I have heeded the warnings of other users and cable tied the 'petting' opening, don't think petting is advisable somehow anyway. Only time will tell if it works as well as it looks, guess I will find that out during the next trip to the vets (not something I do unless I really have to!) The only thing which could improve it would be if it came in two pieces as it does take alot of storage room. Small price to pay though if it does the job!

Bought this as an upgrade to my old cat carrier from the 90's as it was missing the locking clips and I have a new cat (who's very big).Love the quality of this product. Everyone at the vets said how nice it looked and it was much easier getting my cat in and out of the basket without feeling like you're stuffing him in there! It has a flap at the back where you can feed your cat treats or stroke them whilst in the waiting area. The holes at the front and the top means the cat can see everything easily and it's nice a bright for them (not so great if you're walking in the rain though). If he wants it to be darker i just chuck my jacket over it to make it more relaxing for him. There's plenty of room (and I have a big burmese cat).the main latch opens nice and wide and you can lock it over so the cat can't open it.Also, because the handle is attached from the side, there's no worry of it falling apart when carrying it.I definitely recommend if you have a bigger than average cat and want something sturdy.

This is a great design - so much smarter than the standard cat carriers, easier to carry and takes up less room to store. My 5kg British Shorthair fit in well and was able to turn around. I was surprised that another reviewer said the petting hatch catch was easy for the cat to open - mine is difficult for humans, never mind the cat! The one thing I would say is that it should have a big sign on the top to tell you to push the side buttons in to drop the handle and don't do what I did (and my vet did) and forcibly push it down, clicking it over the ratchets, as it drops down smoothly and easily when used correctly! It was easier to remove the whole of the top, rather than flip the opening half open to get my boy out at the vets and because of that, it would be preferable for the side fasteners to be a bit more user friendly, but it's manageable. I would be happy to purchase again for my other cats.

I bought this as I lost the door from my old, conventional cat carrier. My cat is 7kg and this is a little on the snug side, particularly if you want to line it with a towel for comfort at the bottom, although I wouldn’t say it’s TOO small. Having the lid on the top makes it easier to cram an unwilling victim inside, but again for a cat of the size of mine (8yr old male shorthair) it’s possibly just on the small side when you’ve only got two hands and four paws and an open mouth full of sharp teeth to smush through the gap.Notwithstanding that, the quality is great, the build quality is top notch and it’s easy to carry and secure in the car.The lock adds security and the little hatch at the back makes it easier to throw in a few treats or even put through a few fingers to give the little angel a stroke if you don’t value your skin or enjoy blood loss.

This product is a godsend. My large rescue cat put up a real fight every time we had to try to squeeze him in one of the traditional front opening carriers and I can’t blame him really as he’s a big boy and it was a bit of a squeeze! Even when we tried a larger front opening version it seemed like a tight squeeze. This makes trips to the vet much less stressful for both of us. As it’s large and top loading it is so much easier for me to lift him, simply place him in and drop the lid down. He hardly makes any fuss at all. Much better than trying to squeeze an oversized disgruntled former stray into an inadequately sized opening with fiddly clasps! It’s absolutely worth paying a little more for this compared to cheaper front loading versions especially if you are travelling with your cat or make regular trips to the vet - I only wish I’d found it sooner!

I am very happy with this carrier. My cat is 5.4 kg female and she fits nicely inside with plenty of space for her to turn around or lie down, which she did after awhile. My cat is terrified of her old carrier, just the look of it would get her running. With this one she just let me put it inside without much struggle. She didn’t cry or complain all the way to the vets, like she usually does. she just sat down and kept looking through the holes. I think because she can see me clearly, she doesn’t get so scared. Not sure, just guessing here. All I know she does not hate this carrier and she even had a short nap inside whilst waiting for her appointment. My only “but” is the safety lock is not easy to get.It took me awhile to get it right but I consider it a minor problem. I suggest to practice first before putting your cat inside

I bought this type of cat carrier because i like the fact it opened at the top and i could place my cat in and not tip her into a normal style (slightly less traumatic for us both). It has plenty of room and is light bright and solid however.... there are two openings the main one which has a catch that you can lock that's fine and easy to use but there is a smaller opening designed for you to be able to pet your cat through and this just clips shut but my cat pushed her head against it and opened it and I know had I not been sitting next to her on the journey she would have managed to squeeze herself out (a big cat may struggle but mine is 4 kg)or at least have a good go at trying I now have to have cable ties on that part and it is now unusable so be warned. I will keep using it though as the pros out way the cons.

I absolutely adore this carrier. I bought it for what was going to be my kitten (turned out to be two Guinea Pigs instead!) to provide a safe place on the way home from the breeder and for vet visits. It's a really lovely and cosy carrier and would make any cat feel safe. The top opening is extremely useful as cats are notorious for clinging on for dear life at the back of a standard carrier when at the vets. The opening on this however makes it really easy to get your little one out. Since I have only used this for Guinea Pigs, it is fantastic for small animals too! The opening makes it really great to access them & the covered bottom is lovely and secure to keep them calm.My only negativecomment would be that the carrier is quite heavy itself and for the price a little expensive.

I have just bought three more of these, after my first purchase a few years ago for my first cat. So I have four cats now and they come in different shapes and sizes, but they all love this carrier. It is so easy to place even the largest inside, and the design makes them use it as a bed when not in use as a carry basket. People have also made complimentary remarks about the stylish design. I can see that it is also available in black and that there is a litter box from the same brand. I am looking out for any other products from the same brand. I had to explain the lock system to the vet the first time round, which opens up the lid halfway, but once understood how it works, this is a safe, spacious and comfortable way to transport my pets.

I liked the design of this cat carrier very much, especially the top loading aspect and that the handle is attached to the base. It is also very easy on the eye. However I had to return it because the dimensions given are misleading. The bottom of the basket is much smaller than the top. I have a long legged, long bodied Main Coon weighing 7 kilos and there was no way that he could fit into this basket. The base was too small for him to lie down and sitting he would have had to duck his head for the lid to be closed. Therefore I would not use it even for short trips and especially not if he was injured and needed a vet.It is a pity that they do not make it in a larger size.Ehappypets, the marketplace seller gave me a no hassle refund.

I bought this for my two rabbits. I like it a lot better than their previous carrier which opened at the side because it's so much easier to get them in and out of. We've been to the vets today and one tried to jump back in while we were there which I took as a good sign as he must feel safe inside it. It was also great being able to stroke them while we were in the waiting room. I would only use it for short journeys as there's not much room for them to move around, but that was the same with my old carrier too. My tip is to line it with an incontinence bed pad, this soaks up any accidents quickly and makes the bottom softer for them too.I do think it's quite expensive but hoping it'll be an investment which will last us.

It is a pleasure to use this carrier ! My boy seems less stressed when going to the vets now.I put him next to me on the front seat and easily secure with the belt... He's 4,5kg British shorthair , but it can accommodate bigger cat (only a single cat)...love 'the picnic basket' style! I've added a little oval cushion at the bottom for additional comfort ! The bottom and the edges are non-see through ( no holes )...if hour pet has an accident in the car it won't leak ! My carrier arrived with the white buttons on the both sides and the handle stands vertical when you move it to that point, you have to press the button to change from that position...Very smart and practical !
