I am a prime member, and I thought this would be fun to take a long on our family vacation next week because we are bringing our dog.I will start by saying that this carrier is most certainly for smaller dogs. I purchased a size medium, and my dog is 12 pounds and she is very slender and tall. I would say that if your dog also is tall I would not recommend this carrier because it is wide and short. When my dog stands up a good part of her body sticks out of the top. She can fit in it much better when she laying down. My dog is very cuddly and enjoys being with me at all times. She loves it so far, but I have not had her in it for anytime longer than an hour.It is made very well, and I like the design of the straps. There are 2 straps like a backpack would have, one strap that goes around your stomach. This carrier was surprisingly sturdy. It has a flat bottom, and if the straps are tightened properly the carrier will not wobble or move too much. There is a hook inside the carrier that you can hook onto your dog's collar or harness to keep them from jumping out. There is a draw string at the top of the bag that can be tighten to secure your dog at the top. Without the draw strings being tightened there isn't anything other than the hook attached to your dogs collar stopping the dog from jumping out. There is not much cushion to the carrier, so I do not believe that the carrier is supposed to be used for long periods of time. If your dog is small enough there may be room to add a blanket or towel too add some comfort.I really like the color of the blue carrier, it is much more pretty that the color blue that is in the picture. The carrier is blue and gray where in the picture it is black and gray. The little pockets are great for treats or poop bags.Overall, I think this is a great little carrier that can be used for shorter amounts of time. It is a great price. My dog loves this carrier because she isn't "zipped in." It is very open, so she does not feel like she is being put in a crate. If you have a dog that LIKES being in close quarters with you and likes to be carried, I would recommend this. I think a carrier working out for your pet definitely depends on your pets personality. So I would recommend this if: you have a small dog (around 10lbs or less and has shorter legs), if your dog likes to be carried and to be close to you, if you don't plan on using this for several hours at a time, and if you are okay with it having an open top (as in if you leaned over, your dog could jump or fall out of it).

Great for the price. This carrier is ideal for the two kittens which I used to bring them home in. Now a week or so later the cats still love to nap in the carrier when it's left out. The Pros are I was able to keep the kittens secure and closed to me in the car which made them less scared. They actually seemed to relax in it. It's comfortable for both the pet and the owner, it's less wobbly than the typical hard case cat carrier with the single tiny handle. It's a perfect middle ground between the popular cat sling carriers and huge cat backpacks. I like being able to keep an eye on the cats and they seem to like being able to see me instead of being carried next to me.It can be used as a car booster seat like this one http://www.amazon.com/Etna-Booster-Seat-Pets-20lbs/dp/B004L6RJN0/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1451249991&sr=1-1&keywords=cat+car+seat . The pocket functions as two because of the additional pocket inside the visible pocket. I used that to keep catnip toys or calming spray. It has the belt straps which buckle in the back and the straps all unbuckle making it possible to even wear it as a backpack. The whole carrier can take many scratches bites etc without visible wear. The cons, I ordered a medium and while both kittens fit comfortably my older 18lb cat would probably be too snug once the cord is tightened. Also the kittens were able to pop their heads out so if you put a cat inside I'd suggest using a towel over the top when not in the car/vet just in case they could squeeze through the small opening. I'd recommend this for cat owners even though it is advertised as more of a dog carrier.

I purchased the small size for my chihuahua mix recently. She is a feral rescue and has amazingly worked through so many issues and is now just about a “normal” dog. She’s wonderful and so loving. Anyway, she cannot keep up with my other 2 bigger dogs for long, so I ended up carrying her in my arms for most of the walks... imagine trying to keep 2 other leashes untangled and not drop her. She is just under 7lbs. I ordered the small size and it’s a perfect fit for her. If she were any bigger, the small size would be too little. There is an adjustable strap with hook to clip to her harness while she rides when she is all tired out. Then an elastic cord that you can snug up for a nice, secure ride.I am a 2xl girl and there isn't much more room to adjust. Might fit a 3xl, maybe. But the shoulder straps are very comfy crossed behind my back, and the adjustable waist strap keeps the front pack from bouncing her around too much. Cricket took her first ride in it today, and for the first few seconds I think she was like “oooh no!” And then after that she thought “Ok, this is pretty great!” She was able to look all around and sniff to her heart’s content. Great product, very thankful for it, and this expands our horizons for walking, shopping, hiking and being able to take her with us all over. Fantastic! I do think I will have to sew her a little elastic polar fleece ear muff, as her little ears get quite cold on cool/cold days but that has nothing to do with the carrier itself, just the only ‘drawback’ I could think of to using the carrier in the cold. Other than that, love it!!

Having tried several variations of front -and back dog carriers, we found this one to be just right for our Min-Pin/Chihuahua Frankie. He weighs 6.5 lbs and has the long legs of a min-pin, which made the leg opening style wrong for his body, although the clever little opening for the tail did seem about right. With the closed pack style of this style, Frankie could sit comfortably or curl up and sleep in the carrier, although the idea of Frankie curling up to sleep when he's out and about and near food, makes me giggle.I've read other reviews regarding the size of the human and the straps, but we found that either of us - 5'7" 145lbs and 5'10" 195 lbs could strap this across our backs and around the waist with equal ease.We were in Nantucket for the Christmas Stroll, both wearing winter coats and still the carrier fit with ease. The shoulder straps criss-cross, making weight distribution easier and the straps are nicely padded. The front zipper pouch holds enough for a days needs for Frankie, including his poop bags ( another great product-available here on Amazon too!), snacks, and keys too.The only warning we have is that your little beloved will be at eye level for every 7-9 year old child, and you will be stopped on many occasions to reply to " can I pet your dog?". The second day of our trip, Frankie was greeted by name by several people, children and adults, whom we did not recognize!

This product has made taking my dogs to the vet or groomer A LOT less stressful! My 2 small dogs are usually great on leashes, but taking them to the vet or groomer (or anywhere really "exciting") by myself has always been a struggle. My 5lb maltese loves being carried around (yeah, I know he's a bit spoiled, don't judge,) so I'd been looking for a good quality carrier for a while. I wanted to find something that my dog would be comfortable in, was reasonably priced, and had a reinforced bottom. I got this carrier in small and my maltese fit perfectly! There's enough room for him to sit or lay down comfortably, but not enough for him to get fidgety or try to jump out. There is a clip on the inside to attach to a leash/harness for extra security. My advice would be to take your dogs length, not just weight, into account when choosing a size. The only reason that my 10lb yorkie didn't fit, is because she's to long.Overall, great product! The straps are padded and the material feels sturdy, the bottom is hard so the dog's paws are supported, and once you get used to it, it's really easy to get on and off.If I could change anything, it would be the drawstring opening, depending on how he's sitting, it sometimes rubs on my dog's throat, even if it's not cinched up tight. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this carrier! Even thinking of buying the medium for my yorkie!

I have a 13 pound, 13 year old dog who has had a hard life, although most of the time you'd never guess when you look at him. When he was young and before he was in our family he was shot in the leg. Since then under our care he has had his hardware changed 3 times and may lose both his legs one day. We are very active people, always hiking, camping and backbacking, and he is always ready to go and full of enthusiasm. Since it can be very hot where we live and the hikes are long, he can sometimes get very tired, due to his age and mostly his disability, that we were having to carry him in our arms like a baby for half of some hiking trips. That's when we looked up this carrier-we hadn't seen one before and before we tried to make one ourselves we found this on Amazon. The price and reviews were right, so we ordered it. It's amazing! He goes right in and takes it easy when he gets worn out. He goes in easy, comes out easy, and enjoys the ride in the meantime. It's durable and seems confortable for him. We also have an Outward Hound life jacket (we actually didn't notice it was the same brand until our first time out with the carrier) and that's been of great use and quality, too. I would difinitely recommend this product to interested parties since it's helped our little guy enjoy what he loves most and has improved the quality of his and our lives!

I bought this bag for my 16 pound West Highland Terrier. She's 12 years old and gets tired very easily, so I wanted a way to carry her on long walks with my big dog. The bag itself is pretty nice. For the price, it's great. It feels sturdy and the straps didn't loosen at all on our walks. I like that the straps make an X because regular backpack style carriers sometimes put a lot of strain on your shoulders, and this distributes the weight a bit more. My only complaint is that the size I bought says it's good for dogs under 20 pounds - well, my dog IS under 20 pounds, but I think they just want you to put overweight toy breeds in here. My dog could lose a pound or so,but her tummy is no wider than her shoulders or hips, and she doesn't fit well in here. It just doesn't look comfortable sitting in it because it's not wide enough. Also, the top of the bag is right below her shoulder, and to make it more secure, you really need to tighten that top part. I was worried it would dig into her a bit since it felt a bit tight, but at least it didn't seem to bother her and it didn't leave a mark or rub any hair off. Or maybe I'm just a crazy, worrying dog parent and the bag is perfectly fine. Either way, I would have given it 3 stars, but my dog has no complaints as I don't think she really minds feeling snug in a little carrier.

I've purchased several outward hound carry bags from amazon. My little chihuahua is usually carried around when we are out as she gets sick very easy (and walking outside exposes her to bacteria). This is the latest bag I've purchased.. It doesn't have holes in the botton for her legs to stick out (I bought that kind too)... She likes this one better. She sits in it (I put a piece of sheepskin in the bottom), and I cinch it up near her neck. I use this front-facting carrier when I'm driving even (my chi insists on sitting on my lap in front the steering wheel while i'm driving, and this front-carrier makes it possible). It is fully adjustible.. it hangs relatively high up on the chest..the straps around the neck criss-cross at the back, and there is an additional waist strap to keep your pet from bp\ouncing around while you move/walk. It is made from canvas and mesh, so it's quite breathable and is easy to wash. It also has a clip which you can attach to your dog's collar or in our case, harness so that they can't jump or climb out. There ais a zip pocket in the bottom front for a few small accessories ie: poop bags, a couple wipes, a key, etc. Very nice bag, but it's best suited to a small dog/animal under 5 or 6lbs in my opinion.. otherwise it would begin to sag a bit.

So, I bought this carrier along with several others) to schlepp around my 5-lb Maltese, Sweepea, and I've discovered that different carriers have different purposes. Firstly, this one is not to bring a pet on a plane or public transportation, because it doesn't provide complete shelter for the pet. It is great if you are taking a walk or "boutique" shopping because it allows your arms to remain free. There is a rigid "floor", an interior clip which clips on to the dogs collar so it can't jump out and there are 3 exterior pockets. It is typically worn in front (like a baby bjorn) and the straps are adjustable and criss-cross behind the back and hook onto the pouch. There is a separate adjustable waist strap to keep it snug to your body. The only problem I notice which is not major is that when the pooch is in the pouch it tilts forward from the dog's weight and doesn't sit straight. This particular model easily accommodates my Maltese and could probably be comfortable with a dog up to 10 lbs. They describe it as holding up to 20lbs, but I'm not so sure. I also bought the BERGAN SIGNATURE SERIES COMFORT CARRIER for airline transport and serious shopping, and I like it a lot but it serves a different purpose (I reviewed that too)

I don't normal carry my dog around like a child, but I have a foster dog who is 14, very arthritic, practically blind and has a heart murmur. since he loves to go on walks with me and the other two dogs but can't participate the whole length, I decided to throw all dignity and pride aside and try one of these. My little guy is about ten pounds, ten inches long from neck to tail, about ten inches tall (give or take an inch) and has a 12 inch chest circumfrence. He fits into the medium easily. If he was rammy and squirmy it would be no good. but if he was rammy and squirmy, he'd be walking. He chooses to sit in it sort of kangaroo style (but side ways) so I do wrap my arm around for extra protection. If my arm gets tired I will make him put all four feet inside but this isn't as much fun for him because hes so short the edge of the bag hits him in a funny spot. Since its winter where I am and he gets cold, I put a snuggle safe in with him, and sometimes a small blanket. This item will give one a new appreciation for pregnant women who have to walk any distance though(if you haven't been one). Also I have trouble adjusting the straps while I'm wearing it, but would totally recommend this and would absolutely buy it again

We have a 16 year old jack Russell terrier who has significant arthritis but a LOT of heart. She loved to go for walks and strenuous hikes but her performance and comfort suffered. She was sad when I would no longer take her along because we got frustrated over differing energy levels. I tried modifying a backpack to carry her in but failed. I stumbled upon this on Amazon. This dog hates being restrained so I bought a used one. It took a bit to get it adjusted and to get her in it but she sat down and enjoyed the ride. She weighs 12 pounds with a longer body and shorter legs and just barely fits in the pouch [the pouch is really a box].I have to hold the pouch underneath with one hand to keep her from falling out as the safety clip is not a seat belt. It is uncomfortable for my back so holding the compartment takes strain off my back. She loved it so much, she would stand by it to get me to take her out. Since I bought it, we have adopted a third JRT which is really awful on a leash so it is too difficult to have two dogs on leads and one in the sack. I will continue to take her for "rides" on her own when she wants. Frankly, the happiness my dog gets from riding around in this makes any weaknesses minimal.

I love this carrier - but to be honest I would make one change and not have the straps cross cross. I walk my older dog and she sometimes wears out before our walk is over (and sometimes she doesn’t)...I would prefer H back straps because of easy on easy off - this is just a tiny bit cumbersome - but not a problem - just a preference. Other than that It is perfect. I have a poodle mix, 11 lbs, and she is long like a doxie. She is too long for most carriers for her weight class - but in this one she fits in this comfortably. I bought a medium. Her head, neck and the top of her shoulders are above the top of the bag but the safety clip and draw string give me piece of mind for her well-being.(Yes I tried to measure her but she has something against measuring tapes so I don't have an accurate number.) It is super easy to put her into - once I have it on my shoulders - and it is not difficult in the least to put on during a walk. The bottom is hard so she feels really secure. Another preference would be an additional option for the front be made from mesh too -for more air circulation - but again it is a preference because my dog can be quite furry. Overall I love this carrier, and I highly recommend it.

I purchased the front-facing pooch pouch in Medium for my Maltese. I have a Golden Retriever who loves to go on hikes and walks. My Maltese wants to tag along but can't walk as far or over certain terrain. I got this so she could still come with us.I looked at several carriers and eventually went with this after reading reviews and because it had a hard bottom. The hard bottom is really good for support. I like that there is a clip inside to hook to her harness so she can't jump out. I also love that the straps can be worn different ways. I chose to crisscross them behind my back for extra stability on hikes, and this works great. My only complaint is the lack of pockets. There is one very small zippered pocket right in front that is big enough to hold her tiny leash, but that is about all that will fit. No way could I fit any treats or my wallet in there. If you were hoping for a day on the town with your pooch and only this bag, plan again. I have a small backpack I carry when hiking that holds water, first aid kit, etc. and I can still wear it with this harness on, so I am fine with it.Overall, great product and my pup is very happy that she doesn't get left behind anymore.

I love this front carrier, though I should admit that I use it for my (moose of a 'fraidy) cat!My cat is terrified of any strangers in the home. We've had some work done on our place recently, and my poor cat has been running from room to room, belly scraping the ground, trying to find a hiding place. It seems no matter where he chooses, he has to move again soon, as his hiding spots are never quite hidden enough!I bought this and put him in it, to keep him with me while the "unwanted intruders" were in our home. I sat at my desk, working at home (as I do two days a week) and he could monitor the work while safely "protected" by me. It worked out well for everyone. I didn't have to worry about him constantly, the work crew wasn't worried about tripping over him as he darted from place to place and most of all, he was comfortable and not terrified, as he could stay close to me.I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to keep a close eye on a small dog or 'fraidy cat, indoors or outdoors. One piece of advice: the capacity for this carrier is listed as twenty pounds - do NOT try to cheat it, as your larger dog or cat will not be comfortable.

This is a cool product – very well-made, and The straps are well padded and comfortable. It can be worn on the front or back, with the straps criss-crossed for stability. After his initial skepticism, my dog thought it was OK. He is a 9–10 pound Chihuahua and I found the size medium to be a little small. You can see from the picture that I probably could have ordered a size large. So far he will only sit up in it, but once he feels more comfortable he may lie down and fit better. The base is large, firm and flat, so he could certainly curl up and sleep if he wanted to. I will get a better sense of this once we are out hiking and will update my review. Just a suggestion – before you order one of these for larger dog,try on a regular knapsack filled with something that approximates his weight. I imagine that a dog who weighs more than 16 pounds would be a bit much to carry. Update: After half an hour on our first hike my dog settled down & the size medium does seem to be right for him. In the second photo you can see that he’s lying down with his head poking out. His measurements:Length neck to tail 11" / 28 cm, Weight 9.5 lbs / 4.3 kg.
