I do love my cricket but, due to the pandemic lockdowns, only managed 3 games last season. No indoor league over the winter and, so far, no net practice in 2021.So, to ease my withdrawal symptoms for the real thing, I thought I'd see what cricket games are like these days.Well, graphically, things have definitely improved since the days of Brian Lara cricket, although some of the grounds are a bit fanciful - I don't recall all those palm trees down in Havant!Defining your player (a younger, fitter version of me, natch) will take an hour or so and, when you walk out to open the batting for your club side, only to be dismissed for a 2nd ball duck, the sense of realism and "being there" is palpable.Believe me, the anticipation you feel in the second before the bowler's delivery does feel reminiscent of the real thing! Turned the difficulty down to easy for my next innings - and managed 5 runs before falling LBW. I suppose that's progress!Bowling is similarly difficult and taking wickets is no easy task. The tutorials are fairly good for teaching you the basics, but the sheer number of key presses to remember feels overwhelming at first. Just like the real thing, I guess lots of practice is required.I did encounter the occasional bug - like the ball ending up at deep third man and the fielder refusing to throw it in, so I had to run the entire length of the pitch to retrieve it. The game did hang once between overs too, requiring a restart and return to the last save point.Plus points:Bowling and batting dynamics have been well recreatedHugely configurableYou can create a fair representation of your (ideal) selfBest graphics of any cricket game I've ever playedThe ability to hit X to simulate action where you are not directly involved eliminates any potential boredom.Negative points:Complex and initially confusing user interfaceFairly long loading timesOccasional bugsOverall, this is probably as good as armchair cricket gets and any devotee of our glorious summer game should derive a lot of enjoyment from it.

I haven't played a cricket game since Brian Lara 2007 one and have had a resurgence in interest due to the world cup I won't deny it. However this really does feel like u are playing cricket!Yes there are some niggles as you would expect because big ant aren't as big as EA so best not to compare graphics to the likes of fifa, however the graphics are very good and the likeness when playing the ashes is fantastic. It did make me laugh seeing the names and numbers on the back of the test kit but as a football fan it didn't bother me but will be sure to not sit easy with the cricketing purist out there. The AI is very clever tho and u really do have to use your cricketing brain to try and catch thebatsman out when you are bowling and when batting if u show weakness in a certain shot then the AI bowling team will keep peppering balls in that area to try and get you out.I know I will enjoy many hours to come playing this game and getting familiar with how it works. But if you are a sports fan and a cricket fan or just want to try and relive some world cup glory then this game delivers all of that and more.Altho the licence teams are only England and Australia, the community section allows you quickly download the official teams from other users who have created them so similar to pes in that regard!4/5 for me! Looking forward to the actual Ashes now.

I've played most cricket games since Brian Lara cricket back in the day which in my opinion was the best ever due to its playability. The last few games I've played such as Don Bradman cricket haven't hit the spot at all, very slow and dull, just no fun to play. This is most definitely the best cricket game since Lara.Big Ant have put the playability right back into the game, theyve focused on pick up and play and it's really worked. The game can be as challenging as you want. Batting and bowling (particularly batting) is really fun and rewarding. I understand the switch version had some bugs at launch but its pretty smooth now, it's a tad slow at loading but its perfectly fine, doesnt spoil the fun.I have a ps4 also but I chose the switch version and I'm glad I did with the focus on pick up and play.A couple of downsides are;Menus aren't the easiest to navigateLack of licensingLicensing is easy fixed though as you can very quickly and easily download teams from the community within the game.Go buy it if you love cricket its excellent.

Ignore the bad reviews here. I have been playing cricket games since EA sport cricket 97. I have played Brian Lara and EA games. Then it all stoppedBig ant took up the baton in 2014 with Don Bradman cricket 14 and it was a start of something. Then with Ashes cricket, licenced teams breathed life into the game.Cricket 19 is the biggest step forward and as a cricket addict, this game excites me to no end. I own it on the PS4 and Nintendo switch (for portable purposes). They have stepped up the game play, the presentation, celebrations and cut scenes. It is a wholesome cricket game with all formats . Even though it lacks licences for teams other than England and Australia,it has an active community that creates accurate kits and player likenesses. I haven’t stopped playing it since release day.The game isn’t perfect. As with any software, it has bugs but Big Ant listen. They listen and release fixes. They care about cricket and I for one am glad they are stewards of cricket gaming for the foreseeable future.

Was really excited to get this on the seotch. Let me start off with some observations:- loading times are terrible- cut scenes are choppy- animations are glitchy- loads of little bus including double pressing buttons or no registeringOverall, terribly disappointing game which needs an update to fix all the issues. One of the least polished games I've ever played.UPDATE: there have been a few updates since release and gameplay has drastically improved. Still lacks some polish and had very slow loading times but much improved!

My favourite game of the past couple of year - which I’ve enjoyed on PS4 in previous incarnations - is now available on the go. It was enough to inspire me to buy a Switch, and I’m not disappointed. If you’re a real cricket fan, it’s hard to believe you won’t enjoy this game, particularly with the classic controls where one stick controls foot movement and the other controls the direction of the stroke. It does take a while to load each game, but it’s worth the wait. And a new patch stomps on the worst bugs.

First cricket game I've bought for years. The game play is good, commentary is terrible (tend to switch it off). The DLS calculations when there is a rain delay seem incorrect, I scored 53 off 5.3 overs yet the opposition needed 2 off 1 over to win. The field setting isn't mirrored for a left-handed batsman which is annoying. But overall, worth buying. Career and Ashes modes are great and you can also create or download scenarios, e.g. Atherton and Russell at Johannesburg in 1995.

Probably one of the most fun games I’ve played. The batting and bowling elements are the best in any cricket game as of yet. So much so that it glosses over the glaringly obvious flaws of the game. The commentary is hilariously bad and the fielding (except catching) is slow and frustrating. Career mode seems very impressive so far and the Ashes has some nice touches, minus the huge “trophy” you win instead of the ashes. Overall a very enjoyable game

If you dont like cricket chances are you'd hate this. However I love cricket and bought this a few weeks back. I was a little worried about it just having England and Australia but on the first install it suggested I added some teams and within about 45mins of sticking the disc in I was playing England vs. India with a player looking like Kholi. So good - although the Afgan team for example look more like Ben Stokes than how you'd image they look.

Really good in depth game with many many hours of enjoyment available. The support team for this game is phenomenal and overall the game isn’t to complicated and the controls are relatively easy to get used to. If you want to get real life players the community creations have everyone needed

Best game of the series, graphics are better and the licensed players are very lifelike. Gameplay is much the same but the overall presentation is better. A very hard game to find in November but if you can find one you won't be disappointed in my opinion.

After watching the cricket world cup I wanted to jump in and play some for myself. The batting is really fun but I normally skip the bowling and fielding. Great game to pass time although loads quite slowly in handheld mode.

10.6.2019

First cricket game I ever got. And it's amazing, the amount of details in setting/ Batting/ Bowling. Only down side if you want the real teams you have to download them. First rate

25.7.2019

Overall, a pretty good game. Very easy to lose yourself for a few hours. There are glitches that can hopefully be sorted with some new updates.

12.8.2019

The game is decent for a cricket game, you probably won’t get a better one which is why it gets 4 star not 3. Although that isn’t saying much
