The updated Craghoppers Compress Lite 3 is a micro, lightweight insulated jacket. With a full sized hood and two outside pockets it provides a good deal of warmth for those cold autumn days and nights. It weighs less than 500g and comes with its own pack bag. It is windproof and water resistant but not waterproof. In really wet or windy inclement weather you would be well advised to wear a shell outer. Really strong winds might penetrate the fabric slightly. It has an elasticated hem, hood surround and cuffs. There has been a little bit of cost cutting, there is no drawstring on the hood or the hem and the cuffs are only elasticated. The cut of the jacket allows air to get under the hem if you are a thin build but the hood gives a good fit even without drawstrings. The quality of the product is very good considering the price, something that Craghoppers excel at, affordable and robust outdoor wear. I have insulated jackets that are 4x the cost of this and not surprisingly they don’t offer 4x the performance. It is also easy to wash, unlike down-filled jackets.Being a microlight jacket means it can be worn on those cold hiking days when wearing anything thicker up hill would be too warm, I have jackets that spend very little time outdoors because even on some of our colder days they leave me too hot.Ok so no drawstrings and it might be a bit too baggy if you are very thin but Craghoppers have done a really good job here, matching performance and price and quality. I’d suggest you do try before you buy but you’ll not go far wrong and with the Craghoppers name, as good on the hiking trail as it is when worn as street wear.

This is a review for a CompressLite III jacket with sleeves (not a vest as the photo shows or a fleece as the description says!)It has a "grown-on" hood with elasticated edging which is perfect in bad weather. It is very lightweight, and because it is compressible it can be stowed away easily in its own stow-sack and carried about for when it gets cool. The big zip pockets are nice for putting hands in or for storing something in safely with the zip closed. The jacket is washable.I have a few Craghoppers items and they are well made and very practical. A nice jacket.

Lightweight & warm; excellent for what it is intended - a highly compressible mid-layer that can be put on if it gets colder than when you set off (eg: hiking up a mountain or returning from an overseas flight). Used it for 3 months as an outer layer but not made of rip-stop material and a tear in one of the seams killed it off. Absorbs water & smells, although you can apply a water resistant treatment at home. Worn as a car coat you suddenly get very hot once the heater kicks in.

It’s absolutely great apart from the fact that the zip is sometimes temperamental when putting the jacket on and also there’s a lot of dye in the coat so that means when it’s hanging on the back of my bedroom door with the rest of brackets runs onto the adjacent wall when the door is pushed back despite being washed more than once

Great Craghoppers jacket as usual. Well fitting, warm, a great colour. Why four stars? Because it suffers from the same problem as nearly every Craghoppers jacket I’ve had - terrible coils zips on the pocket that spend more time snagged than moving. Please sort it out Craghoppers.

I bought a Compresslite jacket a few years ago and wanted another slightly larger size but although good value sale price they haven't improved it and I liked the original with the cord toggles which was better finished and had a nicer matching trim than this version.

The jacket is nice and warm. It dries really quickly if it gets wet and it is lightweight and packable. The only con is that the fabric gets into the zippers of the side pockets. I would also suggest that you order a size up from your normal size.

Packable (very), light and warm and with a much more sensible price-tag than some of the "no-warmer" but much more expensive offerings, from some of the "big-names" (with bigger marketing budgets - that WE pay for)!
