Why do I like this mug so much and have given it 5 stars? Here's why I reckon the product is worth every penny:1.) It really does keep drinks hot for 4 hours and cold for 12 hours. In fact I’ve kept coffee for well over 4 hours (business meeting overrun) and it’s still been surprisingly warm to drink after all that time.2.) One handed method of pressing the latch to drink works brilliantly while you’re walking. If you’re driving please don’t(!), but if you must ...3.) It’s completely spill and leaf proof - to the surprise of friends (and my wife) when I showed them.4.) My wife ordered one the moment I demonstrated the additional safety catch that prevents accidental opening of the lid when you put it your handbag.Hers, not mine. I have a manbag. She also got why I spent so much money on this mug and agreed it’s worth it. Hurrah. Out of trouble on that one!5.) Dishwasher safe. Yay. Both parts for the stainless steel version.6.) Fits the car cup holders in my Ford Focus Titanium. Safety tip: only drink while parked stationary. Sorry, couldn’t help that. I’m a driving instructor.7.) Extra loyalty stamp free with every coffee purchased from Caffè Nero. Can’t believe I’ve just done a promo for Caffè Nero, but the high street coffee chains applaud you for avoiding disposable (non-recyclable) paper cups. Tell ‘em your mug holds 470ml / 16oz. They seem to know.8.) Feel smug about doing your bit to save the environment!Regarding cleaning the mug, it couldn’t be simpler. I’ve been using the stainless steel (non-coloured) version for some weeks now and put both parts in the dishwasher to clean each time after use. Beware though that Contigo advise washing the body of the mug by hand if you have a painted version rather than the plain Stainless Steel one. As advised in the accompanying literature, I put the lid on the top shelf of our dishwasher remembering to release the mechanism inside the lid first. Both lid and body of the mug come out super clean every time. As other reviewers have mentioned, remember to click the mechanism back before screwing the lid back on to the mug, otherwise it will leak when you next use it.I have absolutely no reservations whatsoever in recommending this product. My wife ordered one for herself the instant she tried it, but then, sadly, charged the order to my debit card. Hmm.

£19.99 on a travel mug? I must say, only because I had Amazon credit on my account did I decide to stretch to this cost. However my cause for apprehension was soon diminished during my 2 weeks of use. This isn't going to keep hot drinks warm for days, of course its not designed for that. My off the shelf coffee made straight from the kettle will stay hot and drinkable for a good 3 / 4 hours in this mug. I've taken it on dog walks, travelling and used it in 2 different car cup holders with ease. The push button to drink works, as does its respectable lock to physically prevent the button from being pressed by accident. It does not leak and holds around a large cup of coffee. Its not awkward to hold and as it states, you only need 1 hand to use it, even to unlock it first if needs be.You feel a little heat loss around the plastic / rubber lid which is expected and you should take care (as I've learnt the hard way), not expecting it at times to maintain the temperature so well on a quick slurp. It fits in my coat pocket, all be it sticking out the top but I don't care. The top is flat with a dipped ergonomic lip to interface with your mouth using around a finger width gap for the liquid to pour. Should you neck it, your nose will press on the top of the lid comfortably. Give it a good clean on arrival to get rid of that Chinese factory taste and you're good to go.I've mainly used this for coffee, but one day a Jasmine Tea bag caught my eye which I tried in the mug. I don't think I cleaned it very well after that as the next couple of coffee's had a hint of Jasmine. At times, I don't want a full cup of coffee usually because I don't have the time to enjoy or drink it. This is great to make it, and have it on your person so should you want a quick swig, its there. Since purchasing this, I've stopped wasting cups of coffee which have been discarded after being left cold or forgotten around the house.Would I buy this again? Yes I wouldIs it worth the £20? Yes I would say so, although I am not by no means diverse in travel mugs, I do appreciate its built well and it does (and should do) what its intended to do which is all you can ask. I think it would take a good few drops onto a solid tiled kitchen floor to damage it. Good job once and all that....

I bought this travel mug a month ago and used it every working day. This is the best travel mug I ever seen and friends and colleagues are now considering buying one !1) The drink remains hot ridiculously long. I make my drink around early in the morning and it's often hot (not lukewarm) at noon. Now i need to consider topping it up with cold water in order not to burn myself. The manufacturer correctly says: "If filling with boiling liquid, allow liquid to cool down 'with the lid off' for at least 3 minutes before attaching the lid" But it's easier cooling down a drink than warming it up, so no problem !2) You won't burn your hands holding it ! With other mugs, the exterior becomes super hot with time because of the drink. It means either I'm burning my hands while holding it or I need to be careful that it's not next to electronics if I put it in my bag. This one, no problem at all! The exterior remains cool and I even put it in my bag on a chocolate bar for more than an hour after making my drink, the chocolate didn't melt at all. Super good (but that also means you need to be careful when drinking not to burn yourself as the drink may be super hot while the mug is cool. You get accustom to that very quickly).3) No leak at all. The Autoseal button is very discreet and very good against leak. You can also lock this button if you put the mug in your bag thanks to the easy lock on the top of the mug. I'm absolutely not scared putting my drink in my bag next to important paper !4) It's super easy to clean. The lid can pivot, no loose piece, you're just bringing the mouthpiece out so it's easy to clean everywhere. As opposed to other mugs or bottles, it means that every parts can be cleaned easily, much better hygiene ! The top part is also dishwasher safe, if you have one.5) The mug can contain a real big drink, not a small one !6) The mug comes in plenty of beautiful colour. That's not the most important thing but I'm really happy of my blue mug, it's beautiful, original and I can't get it mix up.Definitely a great mug, super useful and easy to use. I recommend it to friends and family and even consider buying it as a useful Christmas gift !

After using this for two months I can see why some of the reviews are contradictory. The metal body is perfectly insulated and the bulk of it remains cold, no matter how hot the contents. If you store it perfectly upright then your drink will still be good four hours later (the only time I bothered to test it and time it). - probably longer if the contents are extra hot to start with. The lid has some real pros and cons going for it:1 - Its a great delivery system with a fool proof lock. Easy to drink from and it will not leak - just a small dribble left at the mouth-piece.2 - The lid is where the heat is lost - the longer the liquid is in contact with it, the quicker it will cool so if it's on it's side in your bag,it will cool much more quickly. The plastic of the lid has a big surface area for the liquid to contact and it's not so well insulated. It'll still be good for an hour or more but it certainly won't match some of the claims. This also means that it starts to cool a bit more quickly when you start to drink it, as every sip fills the cooler lid area.3 - The lid is not particularly easy to clean - the mechanism inside makes it a bit awkward so if you like milky coffee then a dishwasher would be an advantage. (I'm just using herbal tea so a quick rinse will do - and a soak with some soda crystals very couple of months) - NOTE: Remember to clip the mechanism back in place after washing, otherwise the liquid will poor out!!The maximum amount of liquid you can get in it is 430ml according to my Pyrex jug - to the bottom of the screw thread. If you fill it higher than this, the surplus will just ooze out as you screw the lid on.But like I said, this is still by far the best travel mug I've come across so like always, read between the lines a bit........The first lid started to leak a bit after a year, but the replacement is still going strong three and a half years later.......

Although not cheap, these travel cups are fantastic and worth every penny. I have bought 5 in total now. As a previous reviewer says, if you buy the non coloured stainless steel version, it will go in the dishwasher. This is what I do with ours, as although the body of the cup cleans out great by hand (it is easier using a brush), the top is harder to keep looking really clean inside, but only due to the parts inside it. The top is supposed to be easy clean and although you can release the mechanism inside to make it easier to clean, it is still quite fiddly. You need to remember to click this back in after cleaning, otherwise it will leak when next using! One tip is that if you have just washed your cup before filling it and it is not completely dry. When you have first filled your cup, press the button as though you are going to take a drink when the cup is not up near your face. Due to the vacuum, when you press the button for the first time after assembling, it sometimes spurts out a small amount of cold water at you (this is water residue from washing the lid, not your hot drink). I have regularly been caught out by this in my car and have sometimes ended up with tiny splashes on my glasses, so always try to remember to press the button whilst still in the kitchen at home. It isn't a problem though and certainly isn't a health and safety issue, but if you wear glasses as I do sometimes for driving, it is a good tip to remember. As advertised, it is completely leak proof if you put the lock on it and I have regularly carried it in my handbag with no accidents. Hot drinks stay warm enough to drink for at least 2 hours. Having previously used the cheap thermal travel mugs with a handle, these handleless cups are much easier to hold and drink out of.I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending this product. It also make a fantastic practical present If you are stuck for ideas.

5 STARS: was looking for the perfect coffee travel mug and have now found it.(1) I've had it for 10 months - waited to do a proper review :have used it about 4 days a week since then, so has been road tested.Has survived the cold and kept sand and wasps out of my drinks on the beach.(2) At time of purchase ( December 2014) this was the newest version. It's a big improvement on the older version I borrowed from my brother, which had no top-of -lid lock button : on the older model the drinking button could be depressed by accident, leading to your drink spilling out into your bag / car.(3)This new model has coped with keeping drinks hot for the 1.5 hours each way commute to work, but have found that pre-warming is essential to maintain the heat for this length of time, as lid gives out a little heat.(4) Lid easy to clean by hand( not tried dishwasher).(5) FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS to ensure you flip the centre part of the lid back to the right position after washing the lid - it IS possible to put the lid back on without doing this, and then it's just like pouring a mug of coffee into your bag ( Trust me on this one!). When properly installed, it's 100% waterproof in my experience.(6) Have only tried with hot drinks, not cold drinks or soup, so cannot vouch for cleaning/getting rid of smell of soup, and as aperture is small, I imagine only a smooth soup would get through the space.Have had no difficulty using outdoors in winter without taking off thick gloves.Bought the plain stainless steel version.I used to buy coffee on the way into work most days in the winter, and have saved £2.50 -7.50 a week in the cold weather, and no queues!I deliberated for a while before getting this because it's a more expensive product, but as others have said, it's really worth it.I used to buy coffee on the way into work most days in the winter, and have probably saved £7 a week

My title says it all. I am on my second day with the mug. On the first day I made my drink and headed off for my daily commute. Hot drink - god yes, hotter than the sun most of the time. Easy to drink from? Ah, no...seems I had to try to suck my hot drink through a small hole.Got to work and was in a meeting, tried to drink from my shiny mug in a cool fashion but then looked a bit daft as it leaked and dripped all over the place.Having read other 1 * reviews it seems this was a common issue and I was ready to send it back. Then I read one of the 5* reviews and it appears I, like some others, had been trying to drink through the lock switch!Hence why my mug was impossible to drink from and leaked like the QPR defence.I am on day 2 and using it properly! There is a small spout on the opposite side to the lock switch, this is where you drink from, so please don't make the same mistake as me!I went for the plain sliver mug as a) it is £10 cheaper than the coloured ones and b) there is no chance of the colour coming off through washing as others have reported. The mug really is leak proof, you can tip it upside down and it will not leak its molten contents over you.I made a hot drink for it at 7.00am this morning and 4 hours later it is still hot. My wife would say that it is not hot as it doesn't remove skin from your lips but for me it is perfect. That would be my only complaint, I make a drink to take on my commute but I have to wait an hour into my journey before I can drink without suffering 3rd degree burns!Overall, it is a good looking, easy to use and clean mug. It keeps your drinks warm for a good period of time and so far is not leaking (as long as you use it properly)

PROS:- Extremely well made and reliable- Very sturdy- VERY safe, no spillage, no dripping, nothing... Big fan of the locking mechanism as it adds extra protection. It spend the day banging against my laptop and they have both remained nice and dry no matter how much I toss my bag around (again, wouldnt recommend but if you are a bit clumsy with your stuff then you can rest assured)- Good size and weight. This product fits a nice amount of liquid and feels nice when carrying- Keeps your hot beverages, well...., hot. Made a coffee for a long night at work, 3 HOURS later, took a sip and burnt my tongue (which has its advantages and disadvantages, I suppose)- And keeps your cold beverages cold.I love some nice iced coffee on really busy days and this item keep everything nice and cool.- Easy clean lid means you can get into every nook and cranny.CONS:- It is a bit heavy and bulky but nothing out of the ordinary. If you're looking for a nice, compact travel mug, this might NOT be the one for you.- Cleaning the inside of the lid is easy HOWEVER I would recommend cleaning the lid / travel mug as soon as you get home. Don't do what I did and leave it for 3 days in the sink with a bit of coffee still at the bottom of the container. By the end of the 3rd day, when I finally decided to wash it, the lid smelled like spoiled milk and plastic (I take milk with my iced coffee, so... yeah, avoid doing what I did)- A bit on the pricey side but definetly an excellent investement. If you like quality, I would only be able to recommend this.

This is the 3rd Contigo thermal cup in 5 years for my other half. You'll never find anyone that uses their thermal cups as much as my hubby, a total tea pot!As an abnormal loads driver stopping in any old layby isn't a option and he must have his tea. These cups are absolutely superb! The only thing that has let his previous ones down are the sealing mechinism in the lid, they lasted, on average about 2.5 years before they started going a bit 'wonky' but please don't let this put you off. I have had mine in almost daily use for 5 years and it's still going strong. Mine gets one or two cups on a 5 day week the other half has his going for at least 12 hours per day. They keep your drinks hot for at least 3-4 hours (that is HOT not warm)and it is still drinkable up to about 6 hours. Mine regularly went on a roll about in my cab not having a decent drinks holder, thankfully I always knew that by the time I was able to pull up and retrieve it my drink would still be safely tucked up inside not on the floor. This is the new easy clean version - not before time. The lid on the old ones were a nightmare to keep clean. Tea builds up after a while and the only way I could get this off the inside was to soak it overnight with an Oxy type solution and then lots of poking with a bamboo skewer in water. So fingers crossed no more faffing!P.S. The colour coating does eventually rub/wear off, it doesn't bother us as it adds to it's 'used' look but if it does bother you I would just go for the stainless one. Go on - treat yourself.

I was wondering whether to go for the new locking Aria mug but reviews all suggested that the locking mechanism meant that the Aria drink button was slightly "wobbly" in comparison to the West Loop version. I chose West Loop (which is about £5 cheaper than the Aria). As per usual it arrived on time (February 2015). I was pleased and surprised to discover that there is now a lock button on the West Loop model. The lock is different in that it doesn't change the drink button at all. It is on the top of the mug. It simply opens some internal cam which prevents the drink button being pressed. The drink button looks (and is) exactly the same as before. So the West Loop (I got the stainless steel variant)has now solved the (relatively minor) issue of possible leaks from an accidentally pressed drink button. As regards the mug itself I cannot fault it. The only possible way of getting a leak is not to have screwed down or cross threaded the lid. Since the screw mechanism is of considerable quality it seems difficult to get this wrong. The seal seems perfect in that when a fizzy drink or a hot drink is put in the mug there is a re-assuring "pssssstt" when the drink button is pressed. This shows that the seal in not only water tight. It is also gas tight. The description is accurate. Hot stays hot for over 4 hours. Cold stays cold for too long for me to have yet discovered...but is easily over 8 hours. Will it fit your car? The diameter of the base is 64.9mm and the diameter of the "hips" is 76.0mm. It fits my Golf perfectly.

I have written hundreds of reviews in regards to items sold through Amazon. The good, the bad and, sometimes, the uglyThis review is based on my personal opinions gleaned as a result of decades of experiences in a professional occupation, using firearms for close to fifty years, outdoor pursuits, DIY, as a consumer, a property owner and raising a family. This travel mug is currently sold through Amazon at a cost of £20.95 (November 17) as a “prime” item.Prime items promise next day delivery to prime members. You cannot rely on the next day delivery promise. There is no indication as to any potential additional postage charges in regard to non prime members. The mug was delivered promptly in easyto open packaging that afforded suitable protection for the contents. There are no instructions as to how the open / close / lock pieces work. That said, there are only so many options and are quickly eliminated and it is easy to use.I like the lock that reduces the chance of a spill. The mug is made of a hard material which appears to be metal. The lid is a little fiddly so make sure that you check that it is screwed on properly.I have made several long journeys and found that the contents stayed not just warm but hot even as the mug was used and the content level dropped. The mug is very expensive but I have bought lots of less expensive versions. This mug needs only to last through the lifetime of the cheaper versions and this mug becomes better value

I am a Contigo convert! I first bought one of these in 2012 for myself, and have bought a further two as gifts, the most recent of which at Christmas 2018.These are not the cheapest reusable mug on the market, but it is worth the money. I often usually make my tea at between 6:30 and 7am to take with me to work. There have been days where I've forgotten about it or been indisposed and found it to be still hot at midday. The press to open feature is very clever and convenient. I've had mugs where you're constantly flipping something up or down. With this mug, you just pick it up and drink. The button lock is great for putting it in your bag for that extra piece of mind, but I've put it in my bag without engaging the lock a number of times and never had a leak. It's quite durable too, as I have dropped it several times over its 6 years of daily use. I am very clumsy, and probably a week doesn't go by where I haven't dropped it at least once, and it's got one teeny dent at the lip of the cup which hasn't affected the seal, and one little dent on the bottom which is barely noticeable. You do need to know that while it's dishwasher safe, eventually the dishwasher will start to take the pretty coloured paint. Mine has still got most of the colour, but it's flaked off in places which is not too bad for 6 years usage.I can't recommend it highly enough.

Looks good, much bigger volume than Bodum & quite expensive (albeit cheaper here at Amazon).I had to order another one & return the original one - the original one was not new & showed signs of knocks, dents and bumps. When the second one arrived, it had retail stickers and so forth on it - convincing me absolutely that the first was indeed, pre-owned.On receiving the second one however, even that was not in brand-new condition although was much better than the first.I couldn't be bothered to return the second one so I put up with it.It's very easy to dent - this being aluminium & not steel (like the Bodum) & there isn't a rubber base like Bodum employ in theirs (or rubber grip around the side)so it's a little slippy on smooth surfaces & wet hands potentially. It does keep liquids warmer for a little longer (not much) than Bodum's but then I'm not convinced that that isn't purely because these hold much more than the standard Bodum??The lid design preventing spillage is very good & is a mile ahead than the Bodum - but I think if Bodum redesigned theirs - I'd sooner have theirs / a steel one as the build quality of steel seems to be better.Overall, quite good, if it was tougher, & had better scratch resistance - that would be better still.Lacks quality packaging so easy to become damaged during logistical supply process...

okay so i have had it this for a few days now, and i absolutely love it. The price is so worth this mug. In terms of how long it keeps the drink hot, that really depends. It kept my green tea HOT for about 4-5 hours after which it was still hot but more of a cosy/drinkable hot.My hot chocolate however only stayed hot for about 2 hours and it turned warm after that (which I don't really mind as I drink it during my morning lectures) This may be because before putting in the green tea I put boiled water in the flask for about 10 minutes but for the hot chocolate I only left it for about 3 minutes (I was in a rush!!)Another thing to note is that I tried my best to make sure the coating doesn't come off as I am a perfectionist and a bit OCD,so I was very gentle with it and didn't throw it about. however the colour at the bottom off the flask is started to come off and you can see the stainless steal coming through, bare in mind that the flask was only on a desk and i wasn't being rough with it.ps. the pressure builds up in this thing when theres hot liquid so make sure to the opening isn't facing you directly when you press the auto seal button, but once you have released the pressure you are good to goI do love this flask and I highly recommend it!

The best travel mug I have come across yet. I wanted something that kept my coffee warm, did not spill when turned upside down, could be put in a bag full without fear of it leaking and easy to drink from without spilling. This fits the bill. It can be operated with one hand. It can last me a 2 hour car journey and the contents are still hot at the end. The button that opens the spout can be locked, so that it does not open when in a bag etc. It has to be remembered that if you put boiling water from the kettle into it, and try to drink from this soon after, you will get a shock, as the drink will still be boiling hot - so be careful if you are driving and wait a while for it to cool below scalding. Also, press the button to release the pressure that has built up first. This is when you realise just how much pressure there can be with a boiling drink in a cup. It is easily cleaned. They have thought about this, so the drinking part in the lid can be opened out for cleaning purposes. If you do not wait for the top to dry fully however, when you refit it to the base, the water will dribble down the sides. Many travel mugs give the drink a funny taste which I have found a disadvantage. This mug does not do that.
