Thermos 101829 Stainless King Travel Mug, Midnight Blue, 470 ml , Large. With handle.I purchased this at twice the price of another brand, which I returned as it barely kept anything hot for an hour. Posted full review of this, using boiling water & taking the temperature every hour, to demonstrate how naff it was.Started to repeat the same experiment with this mug, but as the temperature had not dropped in the first hour, thought it pretty pointless to continue. Thermos are a brand known for first class products that work & this product does not disappoint.Having to pay double the price hurt, but this Thermos really does work. Being stainless,one can just tosh in boiling liquid without having to pre-warm (as you have to do with glass units, else they explode)The outside stays cold, showing the insulation is working (unlike the competitor, which would warm up very quickly)I find it best to pre-warm the mug using the remaining water in the kettle. Pour in your drink when it is, or just above your preferred drinking temperature, screw on the lid & then close the open/close tab (this stops pressure build up inside & spitting when opening). A final check, I always invert over the sink to ensure no leaks.The reason for this strange procedure is to ensure no scolds when drinking. If you poured a just made tea/coffee into it, it would be far too hot to drink.I don't know if the mug is dishwasher proof, but with the anodised finish, I don't risk it. It only takes a few seconds to hand wash.The lid is a little more complex as it can be disassembled for cleaning. Would suggest practicing this when new and carefully lay out each piece, the correct way up, when disassembling. Most times, it can be cleaned without disassembling, just move the tab to 'open' and swish about in soapy water.I'm delighted with the product and would think it will last many years. It does come with a five year warrantee, so keep the receipt. The weak point as far as I can see is the plastic lid and open/close lever. It looks very thin & I think this is the part to fail first. I would have like to have seen this lever substantially fatter. I understand that Thermos do sell replacement lids, but they cost half that of the whole mug.

I tried filling this with water and tipped it upside down. No leaks! The lid is awkward to clean as, when you open it, it lowers a bit at the very bottom so you can't remove it to clean it but I've run it under warm water and ran water through the top of the lid and that worked for me. If you really want to be able to use a dishcloth then this isn't the product for you but I dont have a problem with it.It's heavier than I imagined but it's comfortable to hold, especially with the handle, even when its full.It has an opening on both sides of the lid so you can hold it in either hand and don't have to keep turning it to face the right way.The lip of the mug is deeper than I expected but I didn't have any coffee spilling out from the opening on the opposite side so it was fine.It does keep things hot so I've done as advised on other reviews and left the lid off for a bit after I've filled it to let my drink get to a drinkable temperature. It's kept the heat in well, I put hot water in it while the kettle boiled, and it seemed to do the trick.It also fits in the cup holder of my ecosport, although with the top being fairly wide it's a bit of a snug fit for my hand between that and the hand break. It's not awful but was a bit surprising at 1st.Glad I got this mug, it's going to be really useful during winter. I can take it on dog walks and have a hot drink at the end. I haven't put it in the dishwasher as I've read other reviews saying it didn't end too well but the mug is eaay to clean and as I said before if you're happy to run the lid under some warm water for a bit and use a dishcloth on the top then it's not an inconvenience.

I do a lot of phone work so I can’t always drink my tea at my own pace, usually have to gulp it down in between calls and end up having yucky cold tea or not having a hot drink available in between without using up my break time.Not with this.I make my tea in the morning when I start work (9am), and my tea is still hot when I’m about to go to bed (11pm).I would say if you need that constant intake of caffeine and you don’t want to burn your tongue every time you try and take a sip, it might be worth unscrewing the top off the drink until it’s just cool enough to drink, then replacing the lid to keep the remaining heat in. This way you don’t end up scalding yourself.Overall really good thermos,would buy again/ more of the same from this brand.

Likes- This is the ultimate leak proof mug. What I like about this mug is that I can put my morning coffee inside and I know it will stay hot/warm for hours and will not spill over my bag even when the mug is not upright. This mug is also super sturdy and I have been using mine for a long-time now with no issues so it is excellent value for money. Not a single leak... EVER.Dislikes- Unfortunately, the mug is not dishwasher safe which is a pain, as cleaning the lid can be a little challenging. Also if you make coffee during the day, do not put it in this mug as it will burn your tongue off for hours as the mug is so good it does not cool down your coffee.I would recommend letting the hot water cool down first before adding it to the mug.

The only negative is also its positive. Positive - It keeps tea hot for hours. It's also steel and very robust. Its negative is also that it keeps it hot for hours. if you make tea straight from boiling water (as you do) nd seal it up. It will still scald you a couple of hours later. I find that having made it I have to leave the lid off for ten minutes or so as to cool to a pint I can drink without it being painfully hot. If I do that and put the lid o it remains hot for hours. I don't know how long for because I have drunk it ;)As for cleaning I do put in the dishwasher but don't care about the finish. I have had it for two years and it is as good as ever. Very highly recommend to anyone. Oh,it fits my car cup holder perfectly.

Being a hgv driver and on nights facilities are limited for refreshments so had a inferior thermal mug to try out, that worked but didn't keep coffee or bovril warm for long, bought this to upgrade.This mug is the most fantastic thermos I have encountered, did a hot water test, 10 hours and still warm, have used it every night and wow its great to just pick up and a hot drink is at hand, holds 2 vending machine cups of everything, its that good have to put a bit of cold water in to stop burning mouth even after 2 hours its still that hot. Goes in bag, no leaks at all and just washes out under the tap, very robust as well as it has jumped out of cab holder a couple of time and no damage whatsoever.Highly recommended

I use this travelmug every day and it really is great and is fantastic at keeping the heat in. The lock on the top is really good too, I keep the mug in my bag and so far I haven't had any spillages.One down side for me - it is quite fiddly to get it properly clean as there are a few plastic seals and a complex system which allows the liquid to pass through once open. However without this, I don't believe it would be nearly as efficient!If you're after a convinent cup for sitting at your desk at work, this isn't for you - there are more convenient cups on the market that require next to no maintenanceIf you travel, want to keep your drink hot without worrying about a spillage,this really is perfect!

Really happy with this thermos flask. Keeps my tea hot all morning. The handle is very useful for commuting. When you first get the flask, the lid smells a bit plasticky because it's new from the factory but once you've washed it in soapy water and let it air for a few days it's fine. I would recommend you let the flask air too after washing.I've been using the flask for about a month now and no complaints at all. It seals well too. Just be careful when sipping hot drinks they can be very hot as the flask keeps everything very hot, as you would expect with a thermos. I really like the smart navy blue colour. It cost a bit more than other hot drink containers you can get but well worth it!

Lovely looking thing - especially in midnight blue. Looks a work of art. Does everything I expected of it. Bit of a faff to dismantle the lid components for thorough cleaning. This area does tend to catch bits of detritus over time so I take it apart regulary for cleaning and sterilising. Keeps things nice and hot (too hot at first) and nice to drink out of. No problems with the handle - so far nice and sturdy. Have just notived a couple of chips on the base that could spread up over the lower walls of the mug and start to make it less beautiful. A rubber non scratch base would have been better than leaving it open to get chipped. But very happy with my purchase. Would thoroughly recommend.

was fed up with cheap travel mugs breaking cracking or leaking bought this , make a drink 5.30 am everyday drive to work normally after an hour or two when i get chance drink it its luke warm. today with my new robust mug i laughed as it burnt my tongue , was not expecting that brilliant robust and easy to use and clean . a little bit more but worth it . however hot you put it in, it stays that hot, tommorow i will let the kettle cool before i make my drink in my new travel mug , you need to fill it with a drink hot enough for you , it does not loose its heat poured hot keetle in mine this morning 3 hours later burnt my tongue. great product does not loose heat.

A great well made travel mug, keeps hot drinks hot for hours, word of warning As said earlier this mug really keeps drinks hot I usually make my coffee in a cafeteria which lets the coffee cool before putting it into the travel mug and it stays a a drinkable temperature , however a colleague made me an instant coffee using boiling water straight into the travel mug, I didn’t think , picked it up and took a large sip which scalded the inside of my mouth and tongue very badly. Not a fault of the mug my fault for being an idiot,but remember it keeps hot liquids very hot for a long time

Does the job really well. Haven't had to throw away a hot drink since. Just close the lid and drink it later. The top comes apart with a quarter twist and does need frequent cleaning. Pictures would be an idea so you know how the seal in particular goes back. To say the finish is paper thin though is an insult to paper. Although the cup seems robust the paint really isn't, so it will age pretty quickly in looks which is a shame. Also be careful to make drinks cooler than usual as it holds the temperature really well. I add more milk than I normally would so I don't burn my mouth.

Very good at keeping a drink warm, as you'd expect from Thermos, certainly better than the cheaper ones I've had. It's also pretty leak resistant (don't expect to be able to invert it or put it in a bag!).That all comes at a price though. It's really finiky to clean. You should ideally do it immediately after use before the remains of your drink have begun to dry, and you must make sure the parts are bone dry before your reassemble the cup, otherwise it leaks.Don't be mistaken, this is a brilliant cup, just be aware that it needs more maintenance than the average travel mug.

Matt black looks great, doesn’t scratch like I thought it would, build quality very good, nice tight fitting screw top with firm release slots for drinking with the screw cap on. Good size, definitely a large coffee volume when close to full but only downside is this cup does somehow does not allow the drink (coffee in my case) to cool down at all, after driving for a minute onto a straight road I took a sip and it was boiling hot still, almost scolded my face, do not get the matt black one as my colleague said this paint type causes the temperature rise inside the flask!

I've bought 2 of these in the last few months as presents for a couple of people and they've both been extremely impressed at just how long this mug keeps things hot for. It will keep tea/coffee properly hot from breakfast at 0800hrs well into the afternoon and it'll still be drink-ably warm by the end of work at 1730hrs. Furthermore the lid is really well designed with leaks etc not being an issue.A bit more expensive than some insulated mugs but once you've experienced the disappointment of a couple of the cheap and cheerful versions just buy one of these instead.
