As with all my reviews I prefer to have an item for a while before I review it. In this way I think I can be fair to the product and also give all you folks a clear picture!Thermos Thermocafe 2060 Steel Travel Mug, 0.4 Litre - Purchased Dec 17thI purchased two of these, one for me and one for my lady friend :] The idea was to have a coffee each in the car on the way to work during the frosty winter days. I would say that the basic function of this mug would be to keep liquids hot but also safe during travel - being a travel mug these are fair expectations and in most regards I do believe the product is almost there. Some things I noticed that other folks seem to be commenting on:- CLEANING: The item is NOT dish washer safe and will need a hand wash after every use.I fill it with freshly ground coffee and I find that if I miss even one wash the coffee grinds will stick to the inside. Since you really should wash it after every use no worries right? Let you decide. However I would have liked to see this point as well as all of the other detailed care instructions on the enclosed leaflet included in the listing.- LID: The seal the lid makes with the mug does not inspire confidence. I won't go far as to say it is too loose but certainly it can easily be prised off with my little finger applying the lightest of pressure. Remember that I have two of them and both are the same, I wonder if there are worse examples out there that account for the other reviews? Having said this I performed a little test. Filling both mugs to the Thermos logo (any higher and they over flow when you put the lid on) I found I could turn the mug inverted and the lid remained in place. There was however slight leakage from both. A regular drip, drip rather than a constant flow.- SHAPE: The cup tapers from the bottom getting gradually wider towards the top. Pretty cool as it fits almost any size cup holder. In case anyone else has one, I use this in a Zafira where it fits fine in the centre console cup holder. The Zafira doesn't include door cup holders so the passenger will just have to hold onto to theirs ;]Over all for the price I paid versus what I got I think it deserves the 4 stars. It certainly could be improved upon in some areas though.

I have owned a multitude of hot drink mugs, functional, novelty, supermarket own brand, camping etc etc.I drink tea all day at work and became sick of people picking up my mugs and claiming them as their own so purchased one of these due to fact that its unique amongst the standard pottery mugs, the reviews are solid and its a good price point.Build is nice and solid, I like the matte finish, the plastic surround means you have touch points that don't conduct heat onto your skin, the same with the handle which is wide enough to fit your hand without your fingers scolding on the metal, not that the metal gets very warm. The size is just perfect for me,slightly larger volume wise than a standard mug but not something that's going to cause a riot at brew time because you've emptied half the kettle into it.Thermos is a byword for quality, I'd always imagined it to be an expensive brand in a market place with like for like cheaper alternatives, this mug is a clear indicator that that's not the case.Great looking, perfectly sized, brilliantly designed at a sensible price, five stars!

My boyfriend and I bought two of these for our weekend camping trip - and were very happy with them. The tea stays warm thoughout the time it takes to drink it. At times I even had to open the lid to make it finally cool down to drinkable temperature. Once we even made tea before preparing the food, closed the lids and drank the tea a little while later, after the meal - it was still nice and hot. At the same time, the outside of the cup becomes pleasantly warm soon after pouring the tea in - thus, even while keeping the tea hot, it is a good tool to warm one's hands (but not too hot to hold it).Don't quite get why people complain about the cups being not leak proof or not keeping the temperature for a whole day. These are not the intended uses: These cups are made to drink something hot in a cold environment without your drink getting cold before you finish it - and for this purpose they are great. :)

I'm British... we LOVE tea. I drink tea at work, in the bath, in bed, at the gym and in the car. What better then than a shiny cup to hold my Earl Grey or Yorkshire tea ( occasionally lemon and ginger tea if I'm feeling adventurous) and keep it warm for my delightful consummation. This my friends of Amazon.co.uk is a service provided by our shiny, well-hung handled Thermos Thermocafe 2060 Steel Travel Mug and BOY OH BOY does it provide this service with a glistening smile, like Shrek in Shrek 2 when he is transformed to a human (great film... deserved the reference). Now my friends if you are still reading, I would like to reiterate that this sparkling grail of goodness does indeed keep tea warm for hours and hours, perfect for us British who can't pass a moment of the day without the sweet feeling of watery tea burning our stiff upper lip. Give it a purchase... highly recommended

Mug is of good build quality - finishing is nice and the handle is sturdy. The top definitely isn't leak-proof so don't go swinging it over your head or leaving it hanging on the outside pocket of a rucksack.Top pushes down (not a screw top) firmly and has a little slider to open and close the mouth-hole.Has kept drinks hot/warm for around 3 hours. Don't see why it would need to be any longer as this is a travel mug but is equally suited to sitting on a desk.1 star removed because the slider which reveals the mouth hole has gotten "sticky" and is quite hard to push open and closed if left for a long time. I have tried steeping it to no avail.Otherwise, solid product for the price.

Perfect mug for taking your morning cuppa with you in the car, as my wife sometimes does. Having worked as a locum in various places the last few years, it was also her mug away from home. Safer than bringing a fragile porcelain one, and more convenient for avoiding spills on the way.It is solid, keeps drinks warm for a really long time, has a good and comfortable, if slightly unusual, grip. After a few years of use, it did get retired, though as it appeared to have developed a slight leak. Still, considering how often it was used and the occasional banging around it got subjected to, a few years is perfectly acceptable – especially for something as cheap as this.

I bought this mug as the tea and coffee facilities in work are either down 3 flights of stairs or in a different building. I really just needed it for getting my drink from a) to b).It keeps your hot beverage warm form a long period of time, which is very good if you get side tracked in a conversation away from your drink.I wouldn't recommend this if you are using it in your car drinks tray or going to be storing it on it's side. It will leak from the top if the liquid moves about too much i.e. the mug is shaken. However, I would use my thermos flask if I was in the car or going for a hike.

Does exactly what it says on the tin - a sturdily-made, easy to drink travel mug that keeps your coffee warm enough to drink on the commute!A must-have on the cold winter mornings.A good size, it keeps drinks hot for a reasonable amount of time, and yes, it does leak if you tip it up, but then buy a flask if you want waterproof!A point to note - in the FAQ it says that it is dishwasher-proof, but the sticker on it says it isn't. Not a massive problem. In short - I have bought cheaper mugs from superstores and the old adage is true - buy cheap, buy twice!

It is a cheap travel mug, so don't expect it to retain the heat for an absurd amount of time like a standard thermos. However, it is still satisfactory, as I can still keep my tea warm for a longer period of time than when I simply pour it on a mug. This one is also fairly easier to clean than the one I had before, which was taller and narrower (which also made it slightly more unstable). Right now I don't have a car nearby to see if it fits standard cup holders, but I see no reason why it shouldn't.

Got this travel mug for my teenage son, overall he is happy, the one issue he has is with the lid because it is not firmly held in place and just sits on the cup being pushed up when a hot drink is inside. To clean you can’t immerse into water fully because the section between the inner and outer cup parts become water trapped.Holds the heat for what I found to be 2-3 hours, not too bad.Overall it does the job but could investigate having a more sealable lid, ie screw top.

20.1.2016

Good item but drinks only seem to stay warm for 2 hours maximum. The lid isn't that secure and the slide-across opening also has a small gap so maybe that's why it doesn't retain heat....but ideal for those small car journeys (so long as you have a separate cup as you can't drink directly from the thermos) or for those who can't get to a kettle as quickly as they want. Had to purchase an airpot afterwards as this did not suit my needs.

Great mug for coffee! Decent size...( a medium to large size costa coffee capacity)....very pleased with it. The open slit very easy to flick. Make it easy to drink without open the lid....not sure why so many bad review on leaking ? that's not what this mug is for..it says clearly on the label it is not leak proof.I particularly like it has a big handle so it still feels like your using a mug for coffee instead of a bullet flask..

It kept my brew hot for well over an hour, doesn't leak when you take a drink. Well impressed thus far. I would recommend this product. This an add on review, dated 24.5.21. I have had this mug for a good few months now, and I simply cannot fault it. I have made a brew at 5am and it is still warm enough to drink almost 4 hours later. Now how's that for a quality product. WELL IMPRESSED. I might even buy another one at this price.

13.3.2016

It's cheap and cheerful. It's keeps my coffee from spilling in my car and I can dink it whilst driving. It cost very little so I'm impressed with its performance. Is it as good as it's more expensive cousin, of course not but I wanted it for drinking coffee as soon as I was driving out the gate. It's not leak proof, but anyone that expects it to be should read the ad again 'keep it upright'. It's a mug not a bottle!!!!!

15.2.2011

The mug is very good value. It is black plastic lined with a good solid handle. It is a Thermos item so the quality is better than its price competitors. For 'those people' that turn the mug upside down and declare it leaks, there is a warning sign stuck to the side for them!Only niggle, which is applicable with all types of these mugs, is the base could be a bigger diameter and this would increase stability.
