As a product that fulfils its title, it ticks all the boxes (or stars). Its very well made and, importantly, well designed. It has a look of quality and feel of durability around it. However, in use there are things to watch for that are not necessarily the fault of the product, more of its use and could be applied to other reusable mugs.Firstly, its stainless steel. The rubber grip around it provides an secure way of holding it, even with gloves but if you carry this externally (Ie in a pouch on the side of the bag) the whole lot eventually reduces down in temperature to meet the ambient. What this means in winter when your barista adds the coffee it can be going into a vessel that's as cold as a cup straight from the fridge,so ask them to give it a hot water rinse before adding the coffee. Once up to temperature its excellent at retaining the heat and keeps the contents hot enough for your walk to the office or for slow drinking. Talking of the grip, the diameter overall might not suit small hands so that's the only knock of a star of the ease of holding. The design means its leak proof, *if* you fasten it correctly. When the lid is screwed on it can appear ok, drink ok but with a gap a bit bigger than that required to put your thumbnail in it can leak. Its not a fault of the mug or design but in use the barista putting the lid on may not be familiar so ensure its properly screwed on.When you look at the size and capacity it seems ok, about a normal cup size. Its 355ml capacity is sort of inline with a 'tall' coffee. In use I've found that what you get from the barista is around 300ml. In places where they're not too diligent about how the milk is steamed or the quantity of foam to liquid, the resulting "Slopochino" means that what you get is very little liquid. IMHO, the foam in this mug adds no value so asking for 'no foam' gives better experience and value for money.I've also been charged for a 'medium' size drink (Ie one around 450ml) because the mug looks a lot larger than its true capacity. If it was plastic, ala the cheap Starbucks reusables, etc then its probably more closer but the raised bottom in this mug, while helping for the general heat retention, subtracts from the volume. So, make sure you ask for 'small/tall' and correct/challenge if they want to charge for medium. So, usability aside, its rather nice and would purchase again.

Decided to write this review after reading enormous number of negative feedbacks, mostly about the mug leaking. First of all people should make the difference between leaking and spillage. A travel mug is basically an isolated cup with a lid on it which purpose is to keep your drink warm for a bit longer and to prevent it from spilling while commuting or driving, hence the name - travel mug. If you are looking for 100% leak proof beverage container may be you should buy a good quality flask, not a mug!? I'm yet to find a travel mug that doesn't leak at all. If you expect to chuck this mug in your backpack or gym bag and not find it leaking you'll be disappointed. It is mentioned in the product's description that the mug is not leak proofed and should be hold upright (as all travel mugs should do). Anyway, i did a leak proof test and the result was surprisingly good - not a single drop ( i have uploaded a short video), while holding the cup upside down for about 10 seconds and even shaking it.For me more important are the insulation test results and unfortunately this one didn't score as good compared to some other mugs - Stanley or Thermos King range. I did a two hours test at room temperature 20C filling the mug with hot water of 63.8C (about wright temperature for serving tea). After one hour temperature dropped by 8C down to 55.9C (still very good temperature to enjoy your tea). At the second hour the temperature dropped more rapidly, reaching 50.8C after 90 minutes. After 2 hours the drink was not warm enough for drinking. I did a outside test as well, at air temperature 9C and no wind - after 45-50 minutes the drink was too cold for my taste. As other people have commented it is quite hard to unclip the lid, which could be dangerous if you are driving because you need to use both hands. Also, the mug has wide base and does not fit on my car cup holder.Overall, i give this mug score 4 out of 5 for the reasonable price, good look, comfort to handle and good lid design. At this price range I've seen a lot worse therefore i highly recommend it.Note: The above comments and tests are made on a new mug at the first day of use! Quality may deteriorate after a long use, specially of the rubber sealant on the lid being constantly exposed to high temperature liquids

A well-manufactured and smart product that certainly does what it says.I bought this for the journey home from work everyday as I commute an hour's drive away and I need a coffee in the car on the way home to keep me from falling asleep at the wheel! Anyway, this keeps the coffee very hot and for a long time. The mouth piece is just the right size and the cover is easy to flip over and again well-made from good, solid plastic. It's a good size and easy to hold with the rubber grip in the middle. The only downside for me is that when washing it water will get in behind the rubber grip and stay there even when you've towel dried the mug... the only way to dry it completely is to remove the rubber - which can be tricky sometimes. Also you need to kepp the mug upright, otherwise it will gradually leak - but this is understandable and not a negative point for me.Other than that, its a far superior product to those other bog standard travel mugs I've had in the past... very happy with it.Prior to this purchase I was spending £1 to £1.50 a day buying coffees on the way home from work .... so the mug paid for itself within two weeks.....

Brought this Bodum to replace a similar Thermos Travel mug. I am really happy about the stainless steel interior and hope it will not retain odours, it should not as it has silicone seals. The double insulation appears to be a lot thicker than the Thermos but still easily takes 0.35 litres well actually you can get 375ml if you fill to the spout. The main top screws open and close easily to fill/wash. However, minus one star as I had to use a hammer to open the clasp the first time, have been playing with the 'drinking clasp' to make it close and open easier, seems to have done the trick as I no longer need to use a knife to open it, but it is still very stiff and you can see the plastic now has marks. It functions so I am keeping it.As the price dropped within days of purchase, contacted CS whom told me I needed to return the original and purchase another. A pain to do, but happy with this. As the new Black Bodum travel mug is still stiff but easier to unclasp and the bottom edge of the mug is perfectly smooth and round unlike the previous. Much happier but still 4 stars.

I have been using this mug almost every day for the last 1,5 years but let’s just call it a year because of the virus. So far mug has been doing great, it NEVER EVER LEAKED, not even once. I guess key to success is to know how to look after the product. I put stainless steel part to dishwasher but never the lid! If you want your plastic parts to be good as new you should never put your plastics to the dishwasher people, that’s a fact! And my recommendation comes from an engineer. Trust me :)I always wash the lid by hand and put steel to top rack. This product never made me sad, I put it to my handbag and forget about it. After hours I drink from it very warm.Be careful if you brew your coffee and try to drink it from this in an hour: it possibly burns!Don’t spend twice as much money on other products as I have tried other ones, too. If you keep washing the lid in the dishwasher, you will end up buying new mugs, regardless of the brandPs: mine is black

I managed to buy this at a good price recently, so was very pleased. A friend has one and every week when we meet up she brings hers along, so it's been lurking in my thoughts for ages but I kept forgetting to buy one. I eventually got around to it and wish I had done so years ago! It is easy to use, keeps drinks warm for up to 3-4 hours. It goes in the dish washer or can just have a quick rinse if you are like me and only ever have coffee in it. Also I can take along and get cafes to fill this instead of the non-recyclable plastic-lined variety. Ideal for when taking kids out and about or going somewhere where you don't know when you'll next be near a kettle or don't necessarily fancy paying for a coffee!I tried tipping it upside down as an experiment (over the kitchen sink!) and it didn't leak, but obviously it should be kept upright so I tend to carry it or pop it in the car's cup holder, rather than put it in my bag when out and about just to be safe.

How many travel mugs have you bought that just let you down, don,t seal properly, let your drinks go cold in 1/2 an hour and are probably an impulse buy from a garage promotion when you,re filling up your car.Well you kinda get what you pay for because if you upgrade to one of these Bodum Vacuum Travel mugs you'll never want another. They are certainly not cheap at nearly £14 but they "do exactly what is says on the tin".......which is where they are such good value. They are double walled stainless steel that keeps drinks hot or ice cold for up to 2 hours with a nice logo on the rubber sleeve to hold onto it and they don't just seal with the hinged click cap,you will probably get away with knocking it over without spilling a drop because the top screws down properly. I think i've said enough, ditch that rubbish old one and "Get New"Read full review...

I always heard of Bodum and friends swore by the travel mugs, but I couldn't be bothered to get a new mug, but seriously Bodum's are the best out there. I made tea about 2 hours before I head to work. I drink it about another two hours into the working day and it's still hot, dangerously hot. It keeps it fresh and saves me the energy to get water for the kettle at work. It's easy to hold and you can't feel like heat while holding it - perhaps not great when its freezing outside but I love it. It's a great product and actually keeps the content hot till you open it up. I usually open it about twenty minutes before, so it's not too hot to drink and if I want to drink it later,I just close up and it stills hot/warm which ever temperature it was last opened. Worth the buy, especially at the discounted rate. You won't regret it! Best decision I've made!

If you purchase the black one you are going to have a top quality product. I have purchased 6 of these in different colours and noticed a slight variation in the manufacturing of the lids. There is a small rubber section on the lid of the black one which makes the seal very tight. On some other colours such as the beige that tiny feature is not present. Although this is a small change, the difference in the ability for the mug to not spill any liquid is massive. I would therefore recommend purchasing the black version purely because this colour has the correct lid which has a very good seal and does not leak at all even when in a back which I then take cycling. The others do not perform the same in my families experience.

This cup is great. I had one and bought one for a friend who confirms it's awesome. We call it lava cup. It keeps tea too hot to drink if you don't add milk or some cold water after brew. Can take 2 hours to cool with lid closed.Note: there is a knack to this cup. When brewed. Screw lid on with the clip for drinking open. This allows it to heat up and stops a vacuum being created which forces lava liquid out of the screw if you put the lid on with the clip closed. After 30sec to 1 minute just close the clip. Good to go.This simple trick works on both our cups and for any negative reviews from others I would suggest it is this simple trick that will save you.Great mug just needs my instructionsprinted on the box.

I have a terrible habit of leaving these on train platforms, benches, underground stations, etc. I think I'm on my fourth one now, but I can't do without one! I first bought one when I realized how much money I was spending on take-away coffee. One coffee a day, give or take the odd day here or there, was adding up to about £800 a year... Eek. So I got myself one of these, make my own coffee in the morning and I'm much better off than I used to be. Only one problem with this cup. It keeps drinks hot for so long that it can take a while before your coffee is actually palatable! I take my coffee black and always add a drop of cold water to it.That way I can actually enjoy it on my train journey to work.

This is my favourite travel mug I’ve ever owned. It’s just so versatile and perfect for me. I travel 1.5hours to work each way, and it’s nice to make a hot drink before setting off which is just perfect to drink when I arrive. If you drink from this just after making be prepared for a burnt mouth - it does keep things pretty hot for the first hour or so! But if you leave the nozzle open it cools faster to the right temperature. Doesn’t spill, but definitely keep it upright, it’s not water tight in a bag for example. It keeps cool to the touch for when you carry it which is also useful. Easy to clean as it’s dishwasher safe. Can’t say enough about this mug,I would definitely recommend to a friend.

I bought this mug for use in the car as my previous one had a habit of dripping whilst I was drinking out of it. This fits my cup holder well and is easy to open, close and drink from whilst driving. It keeps the drink very hot, to the degree that I sometimes need to leave the spout open so the drink actually cools down. The plug for the drinking hole is on a hinge and locks all the way back when open. I'm not sure how well that mechanism will last with repeated dishwashing, but it's still going strong after a couple of weeks now. As stated by other reviewers, this mug is not suitable for transport inside a backpack. It should only be carried upright, but does not spill when moving rapidly.

Not the cheapest, but one of the best! The “flick open top” is a bit stiff so not so easy to use with one hand. It’s a bit fatter than most, so if you plan to use in the car would be a good idea to check your cars cup holder size first (I measured the approximate sizes below):The Bodum travel mug is on the left in my picture, a “standard” commonly available mug on the right. The Bodum mug is 25cm in circumference compared to 23cm for the standard, and 8cm in diameter compared to 7cm for the standard mug. This means it might not fit in your car cup holder, or if it does, when you lift it out to use. It might bring the cop holder liner out with it (as per current Jaguar Land Rover design).

At work my tea tended to go cold within 10 minutes so I purchased a bodum mug. I have no issue with spillages from the lid as i do not actually use this as a travel mug. I like the different colours that can be purchased and find it is great in the office compared to the small cups on offer. My only criticism is that I find it hard to keep the inside clean, after about 9-12 months the tea staining builds up even though I clean it after every use and I am unable to get rid of it all using a wire brush as it will not reach all ares inside. Not a major issue as I was able to replace it for £8 which was not bad but it would be nice if it was a little more durable on the inside.
