Perhaps brabantia has strengthened this up in response to the types of reviews below but we have found this to be the best garlic crusher we have ever had! We used it for a few years before we lost the insert piece and then tried several other brands of crusher which broke or were hard to clean. Then had the brainwave of ordering a spare insert from brabantia for 2.50 euro and looking forward to using it again! You can crush about 2 cloves in their skins at a time and it is strong enough to squeeze them out through the skins (which was what broke the second crusher we tried).
