This is a neat unit and it does the job. It comes in a smart storage case too, which conveniently accommodates the electric screwdriver, its charger, a set of ten different screwdriver heads and the instruction booklet. But there is the first disappointment; the case dents very easily, without any kind of rough handling.Besides the ergonomic design, which sits nicely in the hand, the unit has the advantages of a ‘headlight’ to illuminate the work, and a separate light to indicate when the unit is charging, is fully charged, or is in need of charging. Three hours to fully charge the unit is a long time by comparison with most other re-chargeable tools and gadgets that we are used to nowadays, but in normal domestic DIY use its 1.5Ah battery is likely to go a very long time between charges, and being lithium can be relied on to hold its charge even if the tool isn’t used for a while. The ten screwdriver heads offer a good selection of Philips or crosshead shapes, plus four rather more unusual shapes, but – disappointment number two – only one plain flat head, i.e. of the shape that we would tend to associate most strongly with a ‘screwdriver’. The sole flat blade is an S4, 4mm wide. That isn’t very big, so unless you have a set of compatible heads from another tool (those intended for use with Bosch hammer drills work well), you may want to add the Bosch 10 or 25 piece screwdriving set to your order. The third disappointment is that the trigger switch mechanism produces only 'on’ or 'off’. The driver doesn’t build speed and power as the trigger is squeezed; something we take for granted with power drills. There is quite a range of accessories. For driving screws in less accessible places there are the Easy Reach Adaptor and the Angle Gear Attachment. If you are likely to get serious about driving screws with this tool there is the Torque Setting Attachment too. Being used to driving screws with a hammer drill with a built-in torque setting for screwdriving, I thought I might immediately yearn for that attachment, but have actually found it less than essential. Then the attachments get really exotic – the BBQ Attachment is a fan for encouraging BBQ charcoal to glow, the Spice Adaptor is a spice mill, and the Vino Adaptor is a corkscrew. I kid you not! These, plus the screwdriver, might offer present ideas for the man (or woman) in your life who otherwise seems to have everything.Without buying any extras, the screwdriver can be used as a torch. The headlight – always useful when screwdriving either in poor light or in your own shadow – comes on before the trigger is squeezed enough to activate the screwdriver, so can be used as an inspection light, either of your work or for tasks such as reading a gas, electricity or water meter.

Lots of pros :-I was pleasantly surprised when I first handled this tool after focusing too much on the negative reviews. It’s a good weight, it’s well balanced and feels good in the hand and has enough power for light/medium jobs around the house. My first job with it was putting together some self assembly furniture and I was surprised at how much power it has and the ease with which it drove most of the screws home. There is an adjustable led torch on it which you can adjust by removing the front and rotating it 180 degrees for either flood or spot lighting, I prefer the spot light. Not so many cons :-Just a couple of niggles. Firstly there is only one flat head screwdriver head in the set which is on the small side.I would have preferred another one or two in different sizes. Also, the rubber block that the screwdriver heads are held in is (to me) too deep for the small heads making removing them very difficult. I got this for my wife to use as well as me and I think that she’ll struggle to pull the bits out. Maybe a squirt of WD40 will do the trick ? Failing that pushing them from the bottom with something small and thin does the trick.Removing the cover to change the light focusing is easier said than done. It’s really tightly on (with very fine tolerance) and there is no where to grip it other than two small slots which you may be tempted to put your finger nails in to assist purchase but that could be a bad idea costing you a nail or two.At the sale price it seems like real a bargain... until you realise that the off set head for getting into corners is a must and the adjustable torque head might also be handy to prevent damage to screw threads so I’ve just ordered these too.Buying these two additional items costs a little more than I paid for the IXO set but they will hopefully make it more usable. If I’d known that it would end costing me more than double after buying the add-ons I might have just ordered a more expensive one which already included off set head and torque control. My only other gripe would be the fact that it’s not as powerful as I would like for my total spend which may have got me a 7 volt job with all the bells and whistles. I did find myself having to tighten all of the screws up by hand on my first DIY project. It is what it is.What it lacks in grunt it makes up for in lightness and portability. If I want to do anything heavy duty I’ll use my 18volt cordless drill/driver, for everything else I’ll use the IXO.

This is my second Bosch IXO cordless screwdriver, bought at a very reasonable price during deals of the day on a whim. My previous generation IXO has been going solidly for almost a decade without any issues at all. As with most electronic items with non-replaceable internal batteries, it has been holding a little bit less charge than when it was new as expected, but still lasts long enough and with enough power to be useful so I wasn't necessarily looking to replace it as such. This new version has all the functionality of the previous version with a few improvements as you would expect.First of all and for me personally as someone with fairly large hands,I found the revised placement of the direction switch a much better location to mount it. With the previous one the switch was just above the trigger and on a few occasions I found when I applied pressure in certain angles my fingers/thumb would inadvertently knock the switch out of position. On the new one it is a bigger switch and is located on the top of the tool behind the charging light making it much more user friendly and ergonomic.Another revised feature is the new micro USB charging port located at the base of the hand grip, it achieves a more positive connection than the old charging cradle which would sometimes slip off its small charging spring clips, also being micro USB it's much easier to find a cable to charge it since it's a very common charging method and easily replaced if damaged/lost.One feature that has gone slightly backwards in terms of functionality is the LED on the front of the tool. When used with the packaged rubber surround it is perfectly usable, even having 2 different settings if you rotate the cover 180° switching it between a spotlight to more of an area floodlight. It only becomes an issue if you attach any of the accessories to the front, I regularly use the offset adapter and the variable torque setting adapter, both of which completely obscure the light, not a deal breaker by any means but could of been avoided as it was on the older model being mounted slightly below the edge of the adapter.Apart from this small gripe and to be honest it's a very small one, I've found the tool to be extremely useful just as it's older sibling has been and I'm sure will continue to be while the new one is on charge, always handy to have backup!

The IXO is a lovely little screwdriver for DIY and home maintenance. Bosch clearly put a lot of thought into the design: it's very well-balanced and easy to get into tight spaces, and the trigger-linked LED light is brilliant for working in the evening or in darker spots. It's robustly built but easy to hold in the hand, with no harsh surfaces or sharply angled edges. The micro-USB connector means that even if you lose or damage the original adapter, most people will have at least one viable replacement cable lying around capable of charging the unit, but the battery is very long-lived anyway. After a short charge, the IXO got me through an 8-hour DIY marathon without giving up.I found the included selection of bits in the basic model to be more than sufficient for my needs, but it's great that niche bits are available separately as a relatively affordable kit if you need to expand later. It's also handy that Bosch include a carrying case, but don't expect it to survive a construction site - it's just a painted metal shell that's ideal for shelving everything neatly in a cupboard or shed.In conclusion, I'm impressed, and I hope to get many years of service out of my IXO. If you're looking for a basic, well-designed cordless screwdriver from a known brand, Bosch's offering is a great contender.

I have the earlier version of this screwdriver, and this is a big improvement. The case it comes in in nice and easy to store, rather than a bulky stand up metal tin like before. The light is now white rather than orange, the switch for direction is either forward or reverse, rather than side to side and looking at the light on top to see which way it is working. The head can be removed and new heads for different jobs can be put in. The charging is now done via a micro USB lead, so you could in theory charge it up from a phone lead.In use, it is so simple to operate. Just select the bit you want from the ones supplied, push the slider at the top forward to drive the screw in,slide it back to remove the screw. The middle position locks the handle to avoid any unwanted usage. The front part can be turned 180 degrees so rather than have a spot light, it can be spread out. When the power is low, the light on the top comes on indicating power is low and needs charging.Slight niggles are there is only a small selection of bits, no long bits for sunken recesses. Also the main gripe is that there is no variable speed, it is full blast forward and reverse, so be careful not to strip the head of the screw. I also have a

Sufficient torque. Gone are the days where you purchased an electric screwdriver and it couldn’t perform. This has 5nm of torque. The question I couldn’t find an answer to how long the battery lasts in terms of how many screws. On a single charge. So far the statistics are: 160 screws of at least 1 inch in length. Undid more (reverse) 20 screws. The battery is still going! I like the fuel light indicator for battery. The LED work light has also been useful in locations where light is not great. It’s a versatile tool. You can order various attachments.Although it has sufficient power. It is a drill by no mean.Occasionally you might encounter a screw you need to manually take care of because there is gearbox housing whine from the device - that means you’ll destroy it soon enough. It’s lightweight and easy to handle. My wife who has never held a screwdriver found it so easy to use. She loves the case it comes with and the decent range of bits in the box.All round a pretty good screwdriver and more! Well done Bosch.

I'm renovating a 6,000-year-old cottage (and, yes, I exaggerate, but you should see some of the problems I've encountered) and all my tools are back in Aus. Having some screws I couldn't remove from a panel and other such problems, I bought this tool. It was utterly useless for them. However (big however) I also had to move a bed from one room to another and so had to take it apart. I put it together last year, by hand. Now, however, I had this tool and it was absolutely magnificent. It had all the ends I needed to do those hideous self-assembly screws, the slats were a joy to whizz along. The light is fantastic. I actually love this tool now, having hated and cursed it when it first arrived and wouldn't do any of the really tough jobs I thought it might. So buy for the right jobs and this tool will be just what you need. I'm looking at some of the attachments now. I'm knocking one star off because I don't get why it's so short and stubby--a longer reach would seem more useful somehow.

I am a fan of the Bosch IXO and this one is my third in maybe 15 years. The first wore out through sheer use and the second's battery charger failed, which would have cost as much to replace as buying a complete new IXO! The new one uses a standard mini USB connected charger - unlike the previous generation's dedicated hardwired charger cradle - and therefore cheap and easy to replace, should it fail. The failed charger lasted 8 years. To conclude:- The IXO is an ergonomic lightweight tool that's perfect for light to medium screwing applications and the perfect tool, particularly, for flat pack furniture assembly. Please note Amazon, the IXO came packaged in an Amazon cardboard sleeve and arrived with a dent in the tin case.If I had received the IXO as a present I would have returned the unit. However, a tin case easily dents with use and dents can be pushed out with a thumb. So, five stars for the IXO and zero stars for inappropriate Amazon Packaging.

I have had one of these for over 5 years and it is terrific. I don't think the battery has ever gone flat and it has been left sitting around for months between use. I also bought one for my Dad and a friend as he was borrowing mine to use in a muddy trench where the drill wouldn't fit. He wiped the mud off before giving it back thankfully and it still works perfectly. The new version i recently purchased comes in a nice white case and looks prettier than ever. For mine I got the torque attachment and the right-angle attachment and I've hardly ever used those unfortunately - although the rubber hat needs to come off to attach these and it went missing years ago. But the tool itself is superb, with loads of power for shifting awkward screws in tight spaces. The handle fits neatly in my palm so I can put all my force to press it onto a rusty screw and persuade it to come out without discomfort. Meanwhile a tiny LED illuminates the point of contact.

This is the second of Bosch screwdrivers that I have bought, the battery went on the previous one, I have also had a couple of black and decker ones. They have all been good but none of them have come in a case like this does. The case is nice and comes complete with a few driver bits. The bits come in a rubber casing which holds them tightly, perhaps a little too tightly. the driver itself is like a pocket drill and is pretty ergonomic in it's design. the Motor appears to be quite powerful for a tool of this size, certainly more powerful than the other ones that I have bought. It's a good tool. However like most of these drivers they don't have enough power for bigger jobs meaning that for those jobs I still need to use a drill as a driver. But there's a lot of uses where it's perfectly suited and adequate to use. It's not what I would call an essential tool but it's Not a bad one to have at your disposal

I was buying with the only intension to make assembling/disassembling furniture easy + may be some help later and didn't want to invest much into a professional tool with replaceable accumulators and stuff (those, if are reliable can cost up to 100 quid). This little one seem to perfectly serve my needs - I used it for all my furniture and it performed perfectly well. It has a very nice looking and ergonomic box, the fact that it charges (pretty fast btw) from Micro USB is also amazing - I can charge it everywhere, and it has very nice set of bits. The design is also nice. There're couple of cons though:- it front part (next to the bit) is quite wide, so sometimes it's tricky to access the screw.I'd consider ordering a flexible extender as well- it cannot be used while charging. Not that I ran out of battery so far, but still would be a nice to have feature.Hopefully it will last long enough

Purchased this in the recent Amazon prime day at a discount of the RRP. After using my electric drill for years as a screwdriver the price point on this electric screwdriver was right for me to try this and I am not disappointed.Firstly the screwdriver comes in a lovely hard storage case which has a futuristic design to it. The case is sturdy with a strong clasp to hold together .Inside there is a.molded plate to hold each item in its correct place. On using the screwdriver I have found it comfortable to hold with a soft grip handle. After using it on several jobs over the last week I have realised that the screwheads and screwbit end do not get damaged due to too much torque. The small led light is also a handy addition.Love my new screw driver and am constantly looking for jobs to use it.

Recently moved so had a fair bit of flatpack furniture to make and this has been a lifesaver. Its charge lasts ages, I maybe charged once just for my own peace of mind not because it was dead, over several large flatpacks and nursery furniture. Lots of tips included, the alan key tips are a nice addition as so many flatpack items use alan screws. After buying this i've seen there is a slightly advanced version with right angle arms for the front so in retrospect that would have been better for those times when the screws are located under ledges, rims or hard to reach areas that need the manual tool instead, but they're chunky so not sure if it would have been that useful anyway as it's usually a tight space anyhoo. It's light but robust and feels nice to use, regardless if you're man or a woman!

I'm happy with this little electric screwdriver - a welcome, and long overdue addition to my tool set. It's light, compact, handy, and comes in a very nice storage case with an adequate set of screw-bits. I was a little surprised to find that it didn't have variable speed control - it just has forward and reverse, and there's no adjustable slip clutch - features that I take for granted on my cordless drill. Also the "trigger" takes up a lot of the handle, so it's easy to activate the motor accidentally while picking it up - not that it's likely to do much damage. It's a compromise between torque/motor size, battery capacity and weight - a mere 11 ounces compared to my drill at nearly 3 pounds.Great for the majority of jobs for me, but I'm glad I have my drill as a back-up for serious stuff.

I absolutely love this little power tool. It comes nicely presented in a lovely white storage tin with storage areas for the charger and supplies screw driver bits. You're supplied with enough bits to take care of most day to day jobs. The screw driver it's self is just pure Bosch quality with a light to see what your doing in those dark spaces. A simple switch lets you know if your driving the screw or removing it. The fact you can remove the head and there are several different adapters to do just about anything you can think of doing with it. Even taking a cork out of a bottle! It's has plenty of grunt and just today was impressed with its ability to drive a long self tapping screw through laminate and floorboard in just seconds. All in all this is an awesome bit of kit.
