I have owned several cordless drills over the years, this one is the best by far. It is built for real tradesmen rather than just the DIY market. Feels very solid and has a great speed controller. The chuck has a lovely ratchet action and really grips well. The power this thing has is astonishing. Even the case it comes with is great, they have allowed enough room for the drill, charger and spare battery, as well as room for some drills, countersinks, step drills etc. It was really well though out.My only slight criticism is that there are 11 torque settings and that is not enough for such a powerful drill. If you divide the immense torque this thing has by 11, the steps are too big.

I was initially concerned that because this was a dcd996x1 with the large battery replaced that it might affect warranty but registration only concerns the drill sn. The operation is more digital than my previous other brand drill with discrete steps for speed as the trigger is pressed but the quality feels streets ahead with the full metal chuck. The case feels as though it should have a foam insert to stop things falling around if it is tipped over but just dont do it. I am likely to buy a second battery soon to fill one of the spare slots in the case although self discharge should be low and there is a battery level gauge on the battery. Very happy with this so far.

Very tough drill, bought as an upgrade from the 776,Chuck is goodLight is really goodTorque is very good indeed,Only down is the switch from forward to reverse is a little easy to press, the older switch was better.All in i'm confident this drill will last me for years and years to come.

Swapped from Makita to DeWalt 996, and there is a massive difference. Due to massive torque, this machine is litterally unstoppable in concrete and steel. Also using for cars bodywork polishing, where is also great. Worth every penny.

This is the DCD996 hi performance drill. It arrived promptly (48 hours) well packed in the DeWalt carry case with a removable side handle. The drill looked new and performs brilliantly! Far and away the best drill I have ever used.

Great top of the range drill. The newer model has just come out so prices are good for these. Powerful but much lighter than my old model. Very happy with the performance. Great buy for the serious DIYer or trade

It just feels good in your hand, it's balance is perfect, powerfull,responsive and the battery life seems never ending, one more thing! ( IT LOOKS GOOD ) I cannot wish for anything betterbrilliant ALAN.T...

I've got a lot of metal nuts and bolts in my spine.. so when i use a cordless drill i can't put any push behind it..this one's so powerful. "just point it where you want it go." brick,Stone, No problem..!!!

The 996 drill stands out from the crowd of similar Dewalt drills allbe at a higher price. The performance of it is outstanding and in my option, well worth the extra. I would recommend this drill.

Very powerful, loads of torque at low speed, very fast at high speed. Only quibble as with most De Walt combi drills is the forward/reverse switch seems a bit flimsy but seems to do the job.

Good solid cordless drill with excellent power and control.Only downside would be the weight including battery, heavier than previous dewalt drills I've had, but still worth buying

This is a great bit of kit well worth paying a bit extra for the better model, there is a good weight to the drill and if feels substantial and powerful.

great drill wont let you down, i am disabled and i dont need any presure on the drill to get the job done, would recoment to any one well done dewalt

Great bit of kit, very powerful, the electronic clutch takes a bit of time to get used to but overall superb.
