As a gin lover for many years, I have to say that I have most certainly enjoyed ‘playing the field’ in this area. I took a risk on this ‘new gin’ for me whilst looking for a ‘Navy Strength’ purchase. I have to say up until this point Tarquin’s Sea Dog reigned supreme in my eyes as the number one Navy Gin until the ‘new kid on the block’ arrived and became a real contender for top slot. Weighing in at a heady 60% this gin is most certainly full bodied in flavour, but remains as smooth as silk in a measured glass of tonic, about 200ml does the trick. The taste is simple, sweet, smooth and extremely pleasing, leaving a warm almost brandy like warm afterglow on the palate.A lot of what I could continue to say has already been mentioned in the other unanimously rave reviews on this super gin. Suffice to say it is up with the very best in the options of many, so try it and I’m pretty certain you will be back for more like me. It’s not cheap but you do get what you pay for here, and it tastes very special.

I've only quite recently converted to gin having discovered the Fever Tree brand of tonic water's, prior to which I'd always thought of gin as an awful drink. Turns out it was the cheap tonic water, who knew?Since converting though I have managed to try a few, not a great many by any means however of those I have tried, at this moment in time this is my favourite of them.Currently sipping a G & T made with 1 part this, 3 parts Fever Tree Elderflower tonic water and it's an absolute sensation.Yes the citrus is quite prominent so I'd agree with leaving fruit out when mixing with this, but don't worry, as without it it's still absolutely stunning. Can't wait to offer this to friends and family who have always been keen on gin,I doubt many of them will have sampled this particular bottling and I know when they do they'll love it!Would definitely recommend to any gin lover, or anyone curious about trying gin in general. Lovely stuff.

I'm relatively lucky, in that up until now, I've never had a hangover. I have a relatively high tolerance and only drink in moderation, but even on those times when I've had far too many, I've always woken up clear-headed and ready to face the world. Then I tried Blackwoods 60% gin. After 2.5 G&Ts, I was woozy and found it difficult to get up stairs. I awoke after two hours to purge my body of the evil that had infested it, and then fell asleep on the bathroom floor for a few hours. The next day, I was in bed until well after 11 (my normal rising time of 6-7am impossible) and didn't feel safe to drive until well into the evening. This gin now lives in the back of the alcohol cupboard, until such a time as I can unload 80% gin, 20% tonic drinks on unsuspecting visitors.Blackwoods, you have beaten me. Bravo.

My husband and I have been drinking Blackwoods 40% gin for some years now, having seen it positively reviewed on an expert's Gin Appreciation website. As G&T fans (obviously, combined with Fever Tree tonic) we were hooked straight away on its wonderful flavours and botanicals. When we discovered that Blackwoods also produce a 60% gin, we just had to try it, and we were not disappointed. The stronger gin doesn't stray too far from it's 'little brother', but the delicate flavours are enhanced for a sublime G&T. We will certainly be buying this again, and can highly recommend it to anyone with a sophisticated taste and send of enjoyment for a truly fantastic G&T.

I can't believe how smooooooth this gin is! I like strong gins and am a fan of the Navy strength gins, so I had to buy this when I saw it was stronger again than Navy gins! However if you need to read the label (or wait until you fall over) to believe it's 60% ABV. Whilst I drink 99% of my Gins with tonic, this is so smoooooooooooth it's delightful neat. Please remember that it's 50% stronger than a typical good quality gin and has to be treated with the respect it deserves. Will I buy it again, without doubt, I've already added it to my Amazon subscribe & save list.

This is an amazing gin. It may be 60% but you can use less for each drink as the flavour is extraordinary. The mainstream gins are ok but this one is awesome. I wouldn't have believed that a vintage craft distilled gin could be so different. ..it is!. I am a convert. All I can say is that you should buy some and try it, you won't be disappointed. Don't buy too much though...leave some for me!

I bought this when it was reduced in price on Black Friday. It came down to the price of a regular 40% version and I only paid around £22.00 - I am not sure I would pay the full price for it which is around the £30 mark, but I will certainly take advantage again next year when numerous products are reduced in price for a few days.

A good quality gin with a pleasant bitter aftertaste. No one seems to know where this gin is made and there has been criticism of the "vintage " tag but it all seems ok to me. The bottle was well packaged but the top was slightly loose and a measure or two had leaked away.

If you like gin, this is a must for you to try; be warned the 60% is real... The taste belies its strength. You might expect rough and raw, but you get smooth and easy - genuinely on my third bottle now in a month (yeah I love gin)... As I say, this one is a must...

An absolutely superb gin-taking into account the ABV it is extremely good VFM. The herbs really come out strongly.Schweppes is not worthy of it-use Fevertree diluted 3-4 times rather than 2. You don't need lemon or lime-it overpowers the taste of the botanicals.

An amazing gin that with strip the first layer of anything *from* anything.Tastes great alone or with a mixer and despite being sent a 2017 bottle instead of the advertised 2012: it still holds up well for quality.Minus 1 star for false advertising.

This quality product was truly a bargain. I could not believe the price of under £25.00 from Amazon. In all I bought 3 bottles as gifts. They were well received and all of the recipients commented on the enhanced flavours. Thanks again Amazon.

A strong gin that hasn’t sacrificed taste for alcohol content. The botanicals still sing and though I prefer to drink it with a tonic to make a long drink rather than drink it neat it could be drunk without tonic as it lacks harshness.

I tried this before ordering so new what it was going to taste like, despite being 60% proof this gin is super smooth and tastes absolutely wonderful. Everyone who has tried it has loved it, will buy another bottle when this runs out.

got as a gift. receiver really enjoyed it. Read a bunch of reviews on it, as I wanted something with a strong juniper berry taste and it certainly delivers. Lovely bottle and a good price for the quantity in my opinions.
