Bought a bottle of Red Door gin as a birthday present for the special lady turning *coughcough* years old. Glad to report that the gesture like the G&T went down an absolute treat. The gin comes from Benromach distillery which is great because now I have finally found a distillery we can both visit. It doesn't taste the way it smells but both are pleasing in their own right. I'm a single malt drinker first and foremost but I was pleasantly surprised by this. The ingredients worked well together yet still held their own. You can tick off the botanicals as you taste them. We haven't tried any of the recommended cocktails yet just mixed it with tonic and ice which was enough for me and the wife loved it.The bottle looks fantastic. We're probably going to leave it on our shelf when its empty purely because of how nice it looks.. or until we buy another one.

Despite being 45% proof this gin does not have the searing sting of alcohol when you sniff it or taste it neat. Oddly enough the strength was more apparent when I tasted it with tonic.Like another reviewer on here I always taste drinks neat as well. There was no harshness and no burning of the throat from this smooth gin. Not exceptionally smooth but just enough to be pleasant. I didn't get bitter orange but I got a citrus note and another botanical I couldn't put a finger on but there again I have never tasted any of the others on their own. It was enough to give it flavour but I couldn't identify this gin in a blind tasting like some others that I could recognise.Adding tonic brought out thejuniper for me and the loss of the other botanicals. In summary I've had smoother and I've had more distinctive but its still a good gin.

No gimmicks here, beyond what you'll find in the descriptions regarding copper pots, vapour-infused distilling and Scots mountain air. It's a citrus-based (that's actually refreshing, given the last few new fancy gins I've tried have all tried to do something different, but it's gun - you usually want citrus), with flavours like bitter orange, heather and rowanberries, which I believe are what give it a lovely, creamy after-taste. 'Chocolately' seems an overused term but I think it's well-deserved here. There are notes in there that are distinctly dark chocolate. However, there's plenty of traditional herbal notes to keep purists happy.Traditional with a twist - beautifully presented.

Superb, tastes amazing, like a walk in the highlands. This is a subtle smooth gin , nothing harsh about it. Mixes well with tonic , I took another reviewers advice and added a few raspberries, delicious. I am smitten with it and all I can say well done " Peggy " keep it coming .

How do you choose a gin when there are so many new ones out there? You take my advice! Try Red Door and you won't be sorry. The bottle is a thing of beauty and the gin is equally gorgeous.

The bottle is stunning, unfortunately it's a Christmas present so can't comment on the taste but based on other reviews its good and the bottle alone makes it worth the money!
