My young son introduced me the Attack on Titan, as he loves watching anime on Netflix. I was intrigued by the concept, which is very strange, freaky and rather graphic. The more I watched, the more I thought it gripped me.Anyway, we were both excited to play this game. I always do some research on whether a game is good or bad, reading critics and user reviews and this game came up trumps in all departments. Finally being to put a couple of hours into it, I can say it is absolutely fantastic. The developers did a sterling job of translating the concept into an exciting, arcade style action game. The graphics are amazing and captures the aesthetic of the cartoon very well,in fact I think it improves on it in many ways. There isn't much variety in the locations but what there is, is done extremely well and puts you in the cartoon. The gameplay is very arcade like and addictive. There's a certain amount of strategy in how you tackle / defeat the Titans - go for limbs to hinder their advance and hope for useful item drops? Or go for the main kill straight away? Do you break away to respond to a distress call from your teammates or fight your own corner first risking their death? You can upgrade your weapons and you have 10 characters to play around with. You can also enlist other ai characters to battle and give squad orders. I found that a neat addition to the gameplay. There's a lengthy single player (so I've read) and another type of gameplay, played outside of the story mode, which you can do offline or online with others. These are like single missions and the cool thing is, your end of mission rewards are carried over to your story mode progress. This adds extra longevity to the game. I've been playing a lot of this mode. All in all, it is a worthy game, exceptionally well made and fans of the series will love it.It will appeal to those who are not that familiar to the series too, who enjoy fast, action based games.I'm fairly new to AoT and love it. My son, who is the main fan, loves it but that's obvious!

As a huge fan of the anime (season 2 this decade please?) I had to get the game. Having played a handful of anime adaptions in the past I was skeptical but when I finally started playing I was pleasantly surprised.During missions there will be multiple signals for help or side-missions but, just like the anime you need to prioritise your objectives whilst monitoring your gas levels and blade sharpness. Can you really afford to save those villagers when you're got less than 50% of your last gas canister left?Koei have added depth to the game by enabling players to choose different types of mobility gear, weaponry and gas canisters. Some mobility gear pulls you in faster so your attack does more damage, but is weaker and can't keep you suspended in the air long which increases the risk you rush in and get caught by a Titan. The graphics and voice acting are great, although those who havent seen the anime may be a little confused by the cut scenes. (Why are you buying this if you havent seen the anime? Its amazing - go watch it now!)Staying true to the anime there are also different types of Titans, small, medium and large as well as the abnormals. These different types have different characteristics and need to be taken care of differently. My only gripe with the game is that sometimes, if you're playing a strong character, its a bit too easy to go for the nape every time instead of subduing it by removing its limbs first, but its a hell of a lot of fun nonetheless.

Stumbled upon attack on Titan anime on Netflix and was instantly hooked, then to my joy, found there was a two part live action movie....then the best thing ever.... a video game. This game follows the story of the anime relatively close, giving you the opportunity to fight the battle scenes for yourself.I'm in love with this game, the controls for the ODMG (omni-directional movement gear) is wonderful and very enjoyable to play, reminds me of web slinging in the Spiderman games. I have came across some minor clipping though when you run into builds or walls by accident, but nothing so bad that it would lower my opinion of the game. There is a RPG element to it with leveling of the characters and regiment, you can collect items to allow upgrades of blades and ODMG, there are sub missions with campaign that yield rare items and unlocked gear changes and other nice touches. Also has a full complement of PS trophies to collect which gives it another nice dimension, I've purposely tried to avoid giving to much away because I've thoroughly enjoying discovering all the content and hidden gems that this game has to offer that I wouldn't like to take that away from someone else.In short, a wonderful, true to original material, well made game that does not dissapoint.

as a lover of the show this game is a must. playing through the story as some of my favourite scouts or at times eren in titan form is incredible.the actual game mechanics are simple to learn and challenging to master, with later titans having more defences you need to puzzle out better strategies to defeat them.basic skill tree in the form of weapon and gear upgrades is unlocked by killing titans and collecting materials from the limbs you chop off. some upgrades come from survey and exploration missions that can be played parallel to main missions.overall great game. can be frustrating when playing with weaker characters like armin as missions seem to take twice as long with him.if you love the manga or the anime you’ll love this game. swinging through trost slashing napes left right and........aaaahhhh its got me, its gonna eat me somebody help. i don’t wanna die like this aaahhhh!!!!

Great fun, big fan of A.O.T anime show. Also its great training if you're short, you learn how to cut down big tall people so they won't get back up to hurt you, now when I go out late at night I am now always prepared to slingshot myself attached to tall people and smack them about, I would use a weapon but you got to keep it legal in London due to the amount of CCTV thats around so you won't get away that well unless you're short like me and squeeze in small gaps to hide, I had a group of guys screaming at me for my money I just screamed in Japanese or what sounded like it launching grappling hooks into their side and sling shooting myself to them, they all ran in terror! But not remembering how to dedatch I ended up in east london lost so now I'm training myself in survival on minecraft so i can get back home.

I bought this game on cex (sorry amazon) and I was going to hold off buying it, but I'm sure glad i didn't. I have put in over 20 hours so far and can see myself taking it further, the story is around 10 hours long but the extras could easily bring it over 30. The gameplay is excellent and a lot of fun. It stays true to the anime and has little bits in there for anyone up to date with the manga too, it has a sort of spiderman-esque swinging mechanic and like the anime has you aim for the nape of the gigantic titans to bring them down, there are ten fan favourite characters to play which I won't spoil for you. If you like the manga or the anime you should love this game,it feels so fresh and fun every time I play it and I hope you will also join me in the survey corps against the titans!

I'm 5-starring this thing after playing just the training exercise and two missions. I have Spiderman on pre-order and I hope to god the web-slinging, gravity-defying, intuitive, fluid, fast-paced combat is half as good as this game's offering. Even if you're not bothered by the anime or story the combat in this is fantastic. I have it in its default mode (the only other option being "easy") so I hope the difficulty picks up a little, but even if it stays as straightforward as it is I'm not going to get bored! The graphics, voice acting, etc are all great, too. Just a note, there doesn't appear to be the option for English so you have to play with the subs, but the translation (of dialogue and all the menus, tutorial, etc) is excellent.

Bought this as a gift for my boyfriend who loves Attack on Titan. He absolutely loves it as it stays true to the anime series. He also loves that he can play as Levi. The only thing he mentioned was that the controls were slightly difficult, but having tried it myself to see, they're not too bad. You pick it up after a few practice runs. The initial tutorial is very useful for this. The game is just as violent as the series too (after killing a titan, the characters run around covered in blood for a while, which was both amusing and slightly disturbing...) Great for those that are fans of the series, but it also goes through the story for those unfamiliar with it.

very impressed with this game being a fan of the manga & the epic anime!, this game has great gameplay, music & online play only negative would be that it's in Japanese which I don't have a problem with I love the Japanese dub more in animes & games but for when you're fighting a lot on the battlefield it's hard to tell what the character's are saying since you're attacking titans that being said i give Attack on Titan Wings of Freedom a 15/10! Game follows anime story and it is compelling. It offers amazing graphics which captivate you as a player. It offers an interesting gameplay which sadly becomes really redundant and repetitive after a while but what it lacks in gameplay it makes up in stunning visuals and amazing story. Over all it is a good pick for all AOT fans as well as those who are just getting familiar with the franchise it will keep you tied to a sofa for hours.

Since i have whatched the anime over a dozen times i kept telling myself I have to get it since it had been advertised, and I have to say I'm impressed! I am aware that it is in Japanese with English subtitles but I'm my honest opinion it's quite the fun of it. The storyline focuses on the first part of the original anime which resembles it in every way and the online option it's yet to impress me. Killing titans couldn't be more fun!

Bought for my husband as a surprise Christmas present. At first he was a bit dubious, as movie/anime adaptation games can often be disappointing. However, he ended up thinking this was great. Fun game play and great graphics. Not a massively long game, but he actually enjoyed it more than a new release game he asked for. Being a fan of the show, I might have to play it next!

Played this for a few hours now and it's a great game! The movement is really fluid and the game play is emmersive. The characters are just the same as in the anime and the cell-shaded art style is very complimentary. As you play the game and destroy certain parts of the titans you unlock materials which improve your gear.

I've got to say this has to be one of the most addictive games I have played in years. If you like the anime/movies/manga you are going to love this game, also if you like the Dynasty Warrior/Samurai Warrior games you will also get a similar feel in this game and enjoy it too. This game is definitely worth a play through.

Great game for any fans of the Anime series. Purchased for my better half and she enjoys the gameplay, follows the anime canon very well and gameplay feels smooth. The gameplay can become slightly repetitive, however for the type of game it is this is to be expected, a good anime game adaption.
