Animal crossing is a quirky series that started all the way on the N64 as Animal forest, basically its kind of like the sims but with animal characters instead of people and believe it or not this formula actually works quite well. Basically you control a character which you can name, and move into a town which you also can name. You manage how your town operates, try and earn money to pay off your mortgage and try and find rare items for your house. One of the new features is that you can now take your character into the city, where you can take part in auctions to buy items, watch shows in the theatre amongst other things and as a whole the game is quite relaxing.Although its a little dissapointing as the game is hampered by the wiis limitations and setup as a console. For instance if you wanna play with friends, you can with up to four people but in order to do so you need to register those rediculous friend codes which is tedious affair compared to the xbox live approach where u just press a button then your done. The wii speak microphone is a nice idea but its arkward getting the thing stuck on the tv, especially if its a flatscreen where i had to improvise with stick tack to keep it in place. Nintendo i would have prefered a headset to talk to friends, the sound quality is ok but it aint exactly a replacement for Skype on the pc. For the money i would just get the game on its own and the mincrophone seperately when more games are compatible.Heres a summary of Pros and Cons:Pros: *A relaxing experience that has the potential to last years.*The city feature is a nice touch that adds incentive to play.*The rotating globe prespective is improvement of GC version.Cons: *Friend Codes are a nightmare to play with each other.*Wii speak device is seldom supported at the moment.*This version doesnt take the series anywhere new from previous versions. So personally if you never played a version before, id give it a shot. Otherwise you may wanna give this version a miss as it dont take the series to new heights as promised at E3. Thanks for reading.

Following from the Gamecube version but largely the same with some additional extrasStarting on a bus, with various different animals aboard you're asked a few questions, including your name and gender and of course your town name, this affects your characters appearance when finally arriving in your new home.Populated by animals with homes scattered around the town, the basic concept is owning your first home and paying Tom Nook, the owner of Nooks Cranny the required mortgage by completing tasks at first, this is to gently ease you into the game and the towns people as you are required to meet them all.Eventually opening up into a do anything you feel like doing game, you can fish, collect fossils, dig for things, you name it, several of which can help out the museum or the aquarium. You have several other things to do besides paying off your mortgage and upgrading your home, such as visiting the city, bidding in auctions, planting fruit, and many little fun events that occur depending on the time of year.Emphasis on Wifi, as you can invite friends over to your town via Wifi by means of friend codes, when a friend is in your town you can chat via the keyboard or via Wii Speak, a seperate accessory. The graphics are cute, the music suitable, the town customisable. The game fun

Well I'm 34 and I love it and my boys are 4 and 7 and they love it.It's addictive...and when the four year old accidently erases the lovely town you've been nurturing and working hard to create your perfect home/wardrobe/environment and getting to really like your animal neighbours...well life as you knew it is over - but you do get to start again - wooo!We love being able to visit our friend's town and pinch their fruit to grow our own new variety of fruit trees - you can sell them for FIVE times more at the shop too! However speaking on the wii speak is a bit like old fashioned transatlantic phone calls - there are biiig gaps between them speaking and you actually hearing it so sometimes you keep talking over each other even when you try not to!It's a lot of fun though. The seven year old and I fight over the new furniture that the shop is updated with every morning :oD well not really, but once he picked every cherry in the town and we had words! heheh!Great how the weather changes (you really do need a brolly) and how the time in your town is the same as in RL. Shame that some of your favourite animals move out but there's always more coming in.so...yeah...umm, we really like it!

I will be honest I am a little disappointed with the game but only because its no difference from the DS and GC version, I have given the star rating based on if I was playing it for the first time. For those which have played the DS and GC version then I doubt you will notice much difference apart from visiting the city where you can visit Katrina, crazy red, graciegrace, shampoodle, happy room academy, marquee and the auction house. I was expecting to be able to transfer my DS game data into this game, the only thing you can do is transfer your character, not your money, house, ect. You still have to start at the beginning which is very annoying for those who know how to play the game already.I personally prefer the DS version, only because its easier to load and play in a handheld console. You still need friends codes to visit other peoples towns and annoying Mr Resetti is still there (why oh why Nintendo did you keep him in the game), it even states in the manual that he may be disturbing to young children !!! Over all the game is still just animal crossing on the Wii, nothing really new.

I wasn't that impressed at first. To me, it seemed like a slower version of My Sims (DS version, now there's an addictive game).Eventually I noticed that elder daughter had been slowy but steadily paying off her mortgage while the younger one spent all her money on clothes. I remarked on this to my husband and younger daughter then made a serious effort to turn things around, paying off her mortgage in one go and getting a bigger house to boot. She seems to have discovered the benefits of saving, PRICELESS! I can now see that the slower game play allows for more complexity and greater detail. Now Miss 8 is on a mission to find out how to get the beehive without being stung and Miss Almost 7 is still upgrading her new and improved home.We have the wii speak version as there was not much difference in price between that and the version without (at the time of purchase),though they have never bothered with the wii speak so can't give you any info on that. If they ever try it I will update this review. Miss Almost 7 gives this 5 stars.

I love this game and i love this series.i played on the DS version of animal crossing and loved it and spend hours and hours on it so then ofcourse i was super excited when they brought out a wii version, there isn't really to much difference between the DS and Wii version but i still really do enjoy playing on the wii one and have spend alot of time on it and im sure in the future will spend even more time playing it trying to get a really big house and things :)i just love this game, if you have played the DS version and love it you should get this, and if you have never played an animal crossing game then defenalty get this game!its awesome :)also the wii speak thing is cool too and lets you speak to your friends when you visti there village but its not so great if your friends you visti don't have the wii speak also, and i'm hoping maybe one day you will be able to use the wii speak in another game that comes out sometime.

Just a plain good game.Great graphics and hooking gameplay that keeps you playing for hours on end. Wii Speak makes it more fun, although if you are playing with people you don't know in real life, they won't use WiiSpeak since it's uncomfortable.Wii Speak is somewhat disappointing, due to the fact it makes voices high and crackly. However, it's still a valuable accessory if you find using the keyboard uncomfortable. It also comes with a free code that allows you to download the Wii Speak Channel off the Wii Shop Channel - remember not to throw away the leaflet with the code on it!This title is generally a very good title and well worth the price tag. This is a worthy addition to your collection alongside Metroid Prime 3: Corruption,Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario Kart Wii and Super Mario Galaxy.

On Christmas day when I opened my copy of Animal Crossing I instantly dismissed it at a gift that wouldn't get used. Sitting one evening shortly after with my glass of wine and my box of Thorntons I cracked it open to give it a go..... what a big mistake. I haven't been able to put it down! My 5 year old daughter is thoroughly enjoying it too!I've never heard of it before so cannot give you a comparison with other versions of this game but this evening I have been chatting and gaming with a lovely lady from New York no less!!I have even awoken early to get half hour in before I have to hand the wiimote over to my daughter!Whats more it's meant that my husband can't get on his PS3 neither!!Wooohoo!!Go and buy it!

My kids are 7, 11 and 13, and all of them play this game even though it's a good few years old now and none of their friends play it (so they've never used the Wii Speak accessory, which is still sitting in its box). They seem to spend most of their time shopping. My daughter continually gets her hair done. There is a plethora of accessories for your avatar -- one of my sons currently sports a green mohican and a monocle. It's all a bit cutesy and not for me at all, but it works for my kids and that's who I bought it for.

My daughter has this game on her DS but I decided to buy it for the Wii (due to the screen being too small on the DS for me to play too!)It is a brilliant game. Infact, I play it more than my daughter (much to her annoyance!)If I had realised before hand, I wouldn't have bought it with the Wii Speak as I don't intend using it 'connected' (hindsight is a wonderful thing!)A truly brilliant game.

I find as a mum that this game is fun for all the family, I mean even I can play it !! The game has encouraged healthy competition along with the idea of sharing:-)However the game also encourages my kids to think about the environment, helping people out, saving and the ideas around finances and family life.Would very much recommend this game to children and adults alike!!

In short, yes.I have a 4 1/2 year old boy and 6 year old girl and they are hooked. It's not offensive, it's got educational aspects and is well thought out, it's bright,it's colourful and it's easy to play. Great for 4-8 year olds in my opinion and unless you plan on playing over the net, not worth getting the wii speak option.

Bought this as an xmas present for our daughter a while back. She loved it then and still does. She has used the speak facility with her friends on a number of occasions - but have to say once the novelty wore off it has largely been left redundant. This is also due to other available technological/communication devices/advances

Was a good product and an absolute bargain with the Wii speak. GAME sells it for less but it is consistantly out of stock.Im not a pro Reviewer but I can say that if you have played the old AC WW then this is nothing new at all. If not, then good, I recommend this.

This is a fantastic game for all ages. I would recommend it to EVERYONE as it's interactive, you can speak to other players in whichever part of the country they live. Too many good points to list. Just buy it!
