Firstly I must say, I could spend hours on this. There's just sooooo much you can do! If you've enjoyed sport games on the Wii such as Wii Sports Resort, Family Ski & Snowboard, other Winter Sports games, Horseriding Games, Racing Car Games - you name it, they are all included on Go Vacation. But you have to find the person who is running the activities in order to take part! Depending what resort you are in, you could find these people on a jet ski, skates, a skateboard, ski's, a snowmobile - the list is endless! Also at the beginning of the game you will be asked what Wii equipment you have. The basics are a wii mote and a nunchuck. If you have a wii balance board and a wii zapper, that's even better.'Go Vacation' consists of four resorts where you have to find the treasure chests and do the stamp dash and after you have earned so many stamps you will be awarded with your own resort villa. The stamp dash is a lady at the information centre who will advise you what activity to try and where it is located. When you complete the activity you get a stamp. Alternatively you could not take her advice and just explore the places for yourself like I did, and just try out the activities as you come to them, and gain stamps that way! On your way round you may bump into a photographer who wants to take your picture, a person who wants to be your buddy who will follow you round the resorts, or someone who wants you to run an errand for them etc.If you're not sure how to do things, pay a visit to the information centre where you will find the teachers at the school who will teach you what you need to know. If you have Family Ski and Snowboard you've already mastered the main moves, as the controls are exactly the same to get around the city resort and the snow resort, although each individual activity that you take part in will have different controls which it will direct you how to use before the activity starts. Also at the information centre, you have the option to change your Mii's clothing such as your hat, jacket, gloves etc. As you progress in the game more clothing options open up to you.The resorts are as follows:-Marine Resort - Perfect place to sample a wide variety of summer sports that you may do on holiday. Think jet-skiing, bungee jumping, hang gliding, scuba diving etc!City Resort - Fancy skateboarding, skating or just walking round the city? The choice is yours! And whilst you're at it, take part in the urban activities such as grindingmaster on the ramps in the city, to sports car racing, to playing the glass harp at the concert venue, or taking part in the dance competition! Also, use the tram to get around!Snow Resort - Winter Sports galore. So far I have done the ice fishing, the dog sledding (with a dog I was given by a man in the city resort!), and the snow tubing. All weregreat fun, but there is so much more to explore such as skiing on the various slopes! You can use the chair lift or the helicopter to get to the top of various slopes.Mountain Resort - Not experienced this one yet, but apparently it's a pristine natural landscape for the outdoor enthusiast! Think horse-riding, cycling - that sort of thing.Your Villa - Once you have been awarded with your very own villa, you can start collecting furniture throughout the game in the various resorts to design it. You can remodel and redecorate it whenever you want. All in all a brilliant game to add to my Wii Collection. My only one complaint is the fact it makes you wait to do each activity whilst it's loading, and gives you a blank blue screen that just says 'Go Vacation' and you can use the stamp to stamp pictures of a Husky dog on the screen. It is annoying how you have to wait, but that is one minor issue in a game that is full of opportunities! Definitely one to put on your Christmas Wish List!

To me, this game is so much more than Sports Resort, which in itself is a fun game. My favourite thing about that game was the flying because you get to explore the island after a fashion. In Go Vacation you can explore absolutely everywhere! You can walk (and skip!), swim, roller skate, ride a ATV/Jeep/Snowmobile and even, my personal favourite, a horse. There are also scenic rides from place to place in helicopters, planes boats and trains amongst other things. Each of the four resorts is huge and can take a while to fully explore. Add to that all the treasure chests to find (which is surprisingly difficult) and you can spend ages just travelling round. In some ways the sports/activities themselves are an aside to all that! You can play the game by going through each resort and collecting a stamp for completing each activity for the first time, though you don't have to. You don't have to win the activity or even complete the set goal, but just attempt it, so it doesn't take too long if you don't really like that particular game. Collecting stamps gets rewards, including the big reward of your own villa, which is a very nice addition to the fun. Obviously some of games are better than others and the ease of controls vary but most of them are good fun once you get the hang of them. Plus there are enough different ones to choose from to keep most people happy. Some of the City offerings, in particular, I thought were rather unusual ideas, though my two girls (aged 11 and 8) enjoyed them. They also love skating all around the City Resort, as the whole of that section is like one giant skate park - you can even skate up the sides and to the tops of some of the buildings!Personally I can spend ages paddling around at the marine resort or trotting round the mountain resort, stopping every now and then to admire the view!! Obviously there are people who will scoff and say we should get out and do it for real but, as I can't, this game is almost the next best thing!! This has already been played more than just about any other Wii game we own, and the novelty hasn't worn off yet. Wonderful game!

I did quite a bit of research about this game before I purchased it so I had high expectations given the good reviews, but the one thing I didnt count on was the harmony that this game bought to the gaming in our house. My 7 year old son can get very frustrated when playing the wii and fights are common when he is playing with either his 5 year old sister (she's too rubbish) or his 13 year old sister (she's too good!!) but we dont have any problems with this game. Although the game has activities that have an element of competition you are not playing against each other. The real bonus is that the screen is split and each player can go off and do there own thing within each resort without interfering with the others gameplay. My kids have spent hours so far exploring all the resorts looking for treasure chests - my five year old is quite happy skipping (yes, you can skip) around the resort looking for her friends whilst my seven year old looks for the treasure chests and actually plays the game. If my five year old repeatedly drives her quad bike into the sea (it's fun apparently), or spends an age chasing the tram around the city resort then nobody cares. They also love the villa grounds where they can change clothes and have a sleep if they want and spent quite a while playing tig with each other in the villa one day. I'm not sure how long this game will continue to be interesting, but they dont seem to be getting bored yet and havent finished exploring each of the resorts. There also seems to be quite a lot of places that you can't access (houses and shops) which may become available later on in the game to keep things fresh. All in all a great game for young and old alike - there is something for everyone.

I have to say I've been looking forward to playing Go Vacation since Father Christmas left it under the tree for the kids. We already have wii-Family ski and snowboard so it's a very similar approach to that. Not sure if it's me but you spend quite a bit of time travelling between activities, which us grown ups found quite frustrating, the kids enjoyed wandering about the resort, but those waiting to have a turn began getting grumpy, at the length of time it took to get to the next game. The games are quite fun and absorbing once you get into them, and it the variety of activities and the resorts make it well worth the money. The negativesNot all resorts are available at the beginning as you have to unlock them, however you only have to play four games in the first resort to unlock the next and so on, by the time you have played twenty games you have unlocked access to the whole resort. You will find you spend time constantly plugging in and unplugging the nunchuck as you progress between each game, you have to remember to connect the wii-fit board at the start or you can't use it, and connecting it appears to mean only three Wii-motes can be used by four players.Something I found frustrating and not at all intuitive was you steer some of the vehicles (like the horse and the ATV).They missed a trick on a couple of the games such as the Kayak and white water rafting where you can't use the wii-fit board to steer the boat which is a shame, which is the reason why I gave it four stars, and not five. However it's still a crackin game and loads of fun.

It really is amazing that Go Vacation has 50 different sports and activities for your family to enjoy even more so when you consider Wii Sports Resort only had 12! One of the things I like best about Go Vacation is the way you can explore the whole island without having to do any of the activites if you want to. The Island is split up into four different resorts which are as follows: Marine, city, snow and mountain resort. My six year old daughter, my partner and myself all played this game together the last two days and we all love it. We have done surfing, hang gliding, horse racing, atv racing, snow boarding, sky diving, sledge racing with dogs, tennis, racing sports cars, dancing, diving under water, snow boarding, skiing, racing jet skies, air hockey and we still have so much more to see and enjoy! You can also get yourself a villa and put lots of different furniture in it which is pretty cool. The controls work very well and are easy to use and for even better conrols Go Vacation supports Wii MotionPus which is fantastic. Another great feature of this game is that you can also use your Wii Blance Borad, Zapper and Wheel if you want to which really adds to the fun of the game when playing by yourself. I rate Go Vacation so much that it is in my personal top 10 Wii games of all time which is pretty impressive as I have played and owned many Wii games over the years!

What a great game! My wife (age 50) and I (56) bought this along with a Wii and some other games this Christmas to encourage our children(ages 20 and 22 who both now spend long periods of time away from home) to spend more time doing things together this Christmas and what a success it has been. Previous reviewers have described the game in detail so I won't repeat that here but the game play has hooked all of us. And with simultaneous play for up to 4 people there are no arguments over whose turn it is next.We have the balance board and, used in conjunction with the ski slopes at the Snow Resort, this is so much fun. We all enjoyed an entire evening exploring the slopes without even playing any of the games (which are great fun themselves by the way). With the screen split into four you can go off and do your own thing or get together and have a snow ball fight or whatever. There is so much to do! As you complete more games you get extra features (such as a choice between Day/Night). For example skiing down into the resort at night with all of the colourful lights shining is just fantastic. The attention to detail is amazing. For example, when dog sledding you accelerate by pushing with one foot or the other and your avatar mimics which foot you are using. If we could give this game 100 stars we would.

We have had countless of hours of fun with this game, which is interesting and challenging for children and adults alike. After one year, we still haven't explored everything. The virtual landscapes in the five zones, mountain, ski resort, beach resort, city, and holiday homes and very convincing and engaging. There are games for every taste, and there are plenty of 'hidden' challenges and places. There are so many different things you can do in this game that you never really get tired of it.One can move around freely in all zones with one's Mii, depending on the zone, by car, by train, by tram, by boat, by helicopter, by plane, on foot, on horse, swimming, by water scooter, or by canoe. The movement with the controls feels realistic. Certain places, one can enter a game, for example racing, challenges by horse riding, shooting, finding items by clues, just to mention a few options. If I should recommend one and just one Wii family game suitable for all ages, it would Go Vacation. It is quite incredible that so much content can fit on one DVD. There is far more contents and variation in it than in Wii Sport, Wii Sport Resort, and Wii Party, to mention some other favourites.

I wanted a Wii game that i could use with my Wii Fit board, and a lot of the games on here you can add the board as an additional way to play. You can play quite easily with just a Wii remote and Numchuck - but i would say you need the Wii motion plus for added ease of playing the games.Essentially you have one island, and there are four different resorts to play in, Beach, Snow, Mountain, and City. There have different games and spaces to move around and play in. The amount of different games means that you don't get board with the game - there are additional quests and hidden objects to find through the resorts so as you get better you end up looking for more and more things.I love the factthat you can play against other people very easily on this game - you can end up getting quite competitive with the horse and car races!I bought this game on the basis of the reviews here, and my only complaint is that i wish i had discovered this game earlier!

This is my favourite Wii game, just so much to do and so much variety. I can go to the mountain resort and gallop around on a horse exploring the scenery for relaxation, walk up the mountain, go kayaking, hop on a train, or just go in an have a quick go on some of the mini games - the tennis is great (just wish it could be set to longer matches) and the light sword battle in the city resort are great with the motion plus.Lots to keep you interested, find all the mini games and then play them again to pass them at different levels which unlock clothes, houses etc. Go on quests to find treasure, hidden caves, and there is even a house building area where you can furnish them how you want (my children enjoyed doing that more than I did). There's just so much to do,yes some of the mini games are simple or weak but there are so many to chose from. Great fun exploring on your own or playing with others.

We got this game for Christmas for a 5yo and an 8yo having seen just a couple of the reviews here on Amazon. The adverts then appeared on TV and the boys were mad for it, and they have not been let down. I'd say that it has been played pretty much every day since and they could play it for hours given half a chance. There is very good variety of activities and its almost like a combination of several Wii games all in one.Once you try an activity, there are often then additional games within the games or targets to achieve etc.As a 40yo, I found myself playing it for nearly 3 hrs straight, embarrassingly, and I am a willing victim to join it.I think its the best Wii game we have and it will remain a favourite for quite a while I am sure.

"Katrina UK" says most of it really. This is tremendous fun for people of all ages and it is so much more than it says on the tin so to speak. Because of the "free play" aproach to the game's construction , if you try out unmentioned things (ie: us your own sense of adventure - be inquisitive) then strange/funny things happen. eg: I saw a whale while out powerboating, so I got off and swam towards it and found I could swim with it and even hitch a ride (at least until it dived). The other thing to mention is how detailed the surrounding is - it is almost like being there, just like a real Vacation and it is really HUGE,so buy it and enjoy what is arguably the best family game ever created for the Wii.

All been said in other reviews really.Three year old granddaughter loves going round mountain resort on horseback but sometimes needs help with controls. We 60 plus year old grandparents do not generally play computer games so have nothing to compare it with but just the two of us are enjoying a game of this together most evenings: well there's not much on the telly is there! It is packed full of stuff to do and we get quite pleased with ourselves when we find something new in the resorts. Not full five stars because we do find some parts a bit irritating (for instance some of the chat with the resort people uses Americanisms) but that's more of a personal gripe.

Fab game and brilliant for a party. We were looking for a game that was as much fun as wii party. We certainly got it! You can travel to different resorts to collect awards for the different sports or you can access the activities through another area. We have played snowman bowling, clay pigeon shooting, sky diving, skateboarding, driven 4x4, snow boarded, rode a horse-and sooo much more- it's so good. I love it as an adult and my 4 year old and 10 year old also love it! It's such a good game and there are still lots of secrets to the game that we haven't uncovered yet!

Bought this for my 14-year old daughter for Christmas to play with her 16-year old sister. There seem to be so few new games for their generation on wii but this looked fun. We have not been disappointed. There seems to be plenty of games and variety and they are happily challenged, producing plenty of laughs and shrieks. I'm enjoying seeing them having fun together instead of doing their own thing on their own in their own rooms! And there's still room for two more players, ideal as they will have extra friends at New Year.

This game is by the far the best game for the Wii I've seen. We bought it for our two children aged 6 and 8 and they have had som much fun with it. There is so much depth to the game that it would take years to fully explore eveything in it. The kids love exploring the resort, riding, driving, skiing , swimming, skating etc and then all activities - similar to Wii Sports Resort but so much better and so many more! I would strongly recommend this game to anyone.
