I have previously played on the DS version of AC, but never bought it. I have the GameCube version and played it for many years. For me, this is a great step up and although much is the same, a lot is different & better.Positive:The animals are just like the old characters all AC players know. I like the features of playing hide and seek, which is much different from let say the GameCube version. There appears to MANY different layouts of your own town, as I've visited many other AC players (friends) through the gate feature. All the normal features of fishing, bug catching and special occasions are the same. The post office is bigger compared to the GameCube version likewise with Nook's shop layout as it re-models.It gets you glued to the screen for ages whether it's helping others out, bug catching, item collecting etc. It's much easily with the internet connections to get other fruits and plant them - which is a nice considering it used to take a long time to get them. The graphics themselves are bright, colourful and personally better than other AC games I've played. I love going to town and seeing the items in Gracie's, maybe go to the theatre, getting a new haircut and even getting a balloon sometimes! Red's shop is over priced as usual and as being in a back alley, I find it a creative idea as he is a sneaky character. Oh, not to mention you don't have to wear that daft hat from the GameCube version - also being able to wear many accessories. Being a Wii, I like the feature of being able to turn yourself in your own Mii character. Overall, it's just a good game for old or new players of AC :)Negative:The price of the houses has increased largely from what I remember of GameCube - or is that just me? Although the feature of turning yourself into a Mii character, I think it loses some connection to the real AC background. It's really annoying when you enter houses or change rooms, how long it takes to load, a bus comes up at the corner and although it still being a small amount of time, it bothers me greatly. If you're in another person's town and they turn the Wii off, often enough I get the mole outside my house for not saving - so annoying. There's also a lag when in other people's town when you try to e.g. dig which bothers me. The fact other people can chop your tree's down is really annoying and it would be nice to turn that feature off. It seems like you don't create an actual relationship with the animals like in the DS version, and the animals don't seem that bothered about it.Although the negative points, they're only small things which I've picked out, overall this is highly recommended and will keep you playing for a long time without loss of interest. :)

When I think about animal crossing, I think of all the fond memories I have with the games. The game is so memorable. You will never forget the first experience you have with the game. You basically start in a town and as your character (Both you can name). You start off with nothing and slowly, you work your way up. You get to choose a house and expand it. You can catch bugs and fish, dig up fossils and buy furniture. The story lacks a plot, which is suitable for this type of game. Its a sandbox game, and the only plot is that you moved to the village and now, you just have to pay off the debt owed to Tom Nook. You don't have to rush in paying the money. You can take your time. The best way to get money is to sell fruit from trees, but fruit not naturally found in your game is worth five times the amount of the native fruit so progression is heavily influenced by multiplayer. Different fruit = more money = bigger house. You have memorable characters like Tom Nook, Tortimer and Pelly. Then you also have randomly chosen characters who live in the village with you. You seem to get a bond with all of these characters though. They all have the individual quirks and traits. The multiplayer is great, but a bit useless when trying to connect. You can join peoples villages, send messages to each other and invite them over. You can show off your house and run around but that's about it. Its just Animal crossing with two players... which may sound boring, but is a lot of fun. Connecting to people is hard. You have to have friends (or someone's code) who play the game to actually connect. You need to both add each others number and connect... it doesn't always work. The wii speak is perfect for this game and I wouldn't recommend it without it... unless you don't want to use the multiplayer. Finally, the main thing about this game is the city... its alright but a bit overrated. Its just animal crossing with a city you can go to sometimes and I wouldn't recommend this to someone who wants it to see what the city is like. You can buy goods from a secret store (the equivalent of the black market), buy from the incredibly "Im-so-rich-im-going-to-pay-10,000-bells-for-a-rug" upmarket store. You can change your shoe colour, get a haircut, have your future predicted, get emotions, have your rooms evaluated (which gets extremely annoying after a while) and can auction your stuff online... that's it. That is literally it. Its just a store-front. I do like the city but surely, they shouldn't have called it "Lets all go to the city" if the city is smaller than the actual village.Still, the game is very good, just don't expect a great deal from the city.

This game is pure, amazing simulation. it is highly educational and great fun for people of all ages.it is the same as Animal crossing: Wild World for the DS (ACWW DS) but has a city. You still work for Nook, fish, catch bugs, collect fruit, collect seashells and sell them all for money. You still socialise with your neighbours and can sit and listen to amazing and highly relaxing music. The object of the game - I suppose - is to pay off your mortgage, take out another and then another etc. until you have an amazing house. But, there isn't much emphasis on that so you can play at your leisure not worrying about completing the game.DIFFERENCES TO ACWW DS:-There is a city.It isn't amazing but can break the game up and is a nice little touch. It doesn't make the game and it doesn't break it. I must say that it is nice to see other animals though and change your person's hair and shoes!-The graphics are amazing. They are still simple but much clearer and the game feels more realistic.-There are four houses to choose from and you aren't bullied to take one particular house. It is up to you to decide whether decor, location or neighbours matter most in your decision.-The animals aren't as friendly...and are always ill! They are still nice and polite, but the game seems to lack a little warmth. It may just be because it is more intimate playing a game on the DS instead of watching it from far away on the TV but the animals don't really care about friendship!~~~GOOD:It is fun for people of all ages. It is refreshing and peaceful. It is educational too as the players have to learn how to handle money. Do you just pay off your mortgage really quickly, pay off some and buy furniture or just ignore the mortgage? It is up to you!~~~BAD:Pretty similar to the DS version, but we all know and love that! I would also say it gets repetitive...it is hugely addictive at first but after a few weeks you'll probably take a long break and forget to play for months. Your neighbours may move away which is upsetting, but that doesn't happen too often now.All in all, very good! Nintendo makes fantastic games and I am hugely anticipating the 3DS Animal Crossing game. It is in development and will be out before the end of 2012!

This game is fantastic for relaxing and always has a surprise in stall for you; the other day I found a empty gold lamp and I tried to sell it to Nook and he said it wasn't worth anything but he would put it out to recycle if I liked. I decided to hold onto it and came off about half hour later, then when I came back on this genie that looked a bit like a ghost came up to me and asked if I had seen a gold lamp lying around. I was surprised by this and then one thing led to another and he gave me a option of taking one of 3 wishes. The graphics are in the style of the DS version, although more graphical, and on this version when the villagers are talking you can interject and see what they are talking about which kind of helps to make you feel included in the whole village thing. This version also allows you to save wherever you want by clicking the pen in the top right corner which is fantastic as it was sometimes awkward in the original to have to go all the way back to your house. Also there are a lot of things to collect and if you find that you have too many Gyroid's you can take them to the guy who serves coffee and he will look after them for you. Which is fantastic and you can ask for them back at any time.Overall this game offers the ultimate relaxation and is great fun and can also be played by more than one person in the same village as there are multiple homes so that I imagine is useful for families!Worth every penny and still good fun!

I was really excited when I found out that there was another version of AC, and this version is, in many ways, much better than WW. However, there were two main problems:1) There's less to do in your town. No-one really visits anymore, there's no Crazy Red to look forward to once a week. Instead, everything's there all the time in the city, which isn't as good.2) It's harder to get into it, because the Wii's not portable. You can't earn lots of money in your spare time on long journeys, because the Wii is stuck in the living room...Overall, I recommend this and I'm really glad to see it's been "selected" by Nintendo. It needs to be more portable, and the 3DS version of AC may be the answer to the problem. But I haven't got a 3DS, and I don't plan to get one, so that's a "no".Make sure you check out

Had only played the DS version of Animal Crossing before, and this was just as fun and addictive. I chose to start over rather than transfer a character from my DS, and am really enjoying it.The new additions of a salon, "shoe-shine boy" (can change shoe colour to match an outift), Gracie's store, ATMs and an official HRA office where you can view and/or have your own room displayed as the room of the month is great. Makes it easier for you to get immerced in the virtual world and change it to how you like it.Childish, yet still a great game, despite the graphics looking really childish (but somehow that adds to the fun).

I wanted get Animal Crossing : Lets go to the city (Wii) because it has more things to do on it than 'Animal Crossing' the Nintendo game.On the (Wii)game you can go to the city and buy clothes , go to the theatre and watch shows and you can go to the salon and have a makeover or have your hair done. You can attend events such as 'The Fishing Tournament', 'The Flea Market', 'The Bug Off'; these are exciting and interesting because you actually feel you are part of these events.I really love this game because it is really fun and exciting. This is my favourite Wii game.I love this game!Bethan age 10

I ordered Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City for my 6 and 14 year-old children. The character you choose can build a house, design own clothes, fish, help neighbors,do transactions by selling and buying, decorate own house, etc. The game makes you think: the more you play the more charms you discover. According to my daughter, it is addictive because she can't wait to see what her character would discover in the next. You can set the time, this means you can set the weather as well. Recommend!

This wii game is fab. You can have up to 4 people in a house. Before you can visit the city you have to do some jobs for the shop first and then you an explore the city. At the city you can have your fortune told, go to the hairdressers, go to Gracie Grace or even go to the cinema and much more. Also where you live is 2 shops. From one you can buy clothes and hats and on the other one it's things like furniture and fishing rods, shovels and more. I love this game and I'm sure you will two.

8.8.2011

Was looking for a game that would keep my 7 and 4 year old occupied without lots of violence and I'm pleased to say Animal Crossing is just that. There's a bit of reading necessary to complete certain tasks etc. so mummy is often needed - thankfully I quite enjoy it too so added bonus there! :) Would recommend it and at a good price especially for a game that can't be 'completed' and can be played for a long time!

30.12.2011

This is a one player game for the wii. First you can choose your name and if your a girl or a boy, then what your city should be called, after you have done all that you can have a part time job in Tom Nooks shop then explore by buying things at the shops for your new home, you can also buy clothes, umbrellas and that! There are also other people in your town to talk to and share secrets with.

29.5.2015

I got this for my 6 year old and she loves it, a bit to much reading for my liking as I do have to help her to read and write often. If your child can read independently then this is obviously no issue. The game has events throughout the year and the game changes as you play, keeps it interesting I guess although it seems to exite me more then my daughter!

6.3.2013

Very good game something i can play with my 4 year old without worrying about violence etc in most games now. Also great for the boys reading skills and lots to do in the game for Dad & Son. Once again another Great game from Nintendo looking forward to the new 3DS version in June 2013 with even more features packed into the game !

6.5.2020

I'm a huge fan of Animal Crossing, and I have a Wii so i thought why not buy this game? It's honestly amazing. I love the fact that you can go to a city and not just spend your bells on shovels and slingshots like you would normally do. It's a great game and I never get bored. Totally recommend!
