This butter dish can be used for all sorts. The base works either as shown in the image or the other way up. Other way up is best IMHO. Both the clear top and the green base are made of plastic - but of good quality. Very pleased with it :-)

sturdy and "multi" use possible as described. looks and feels like a well designed product.only minor downside is that the closure of the butter dish is not as tight as i personally would have liked.
