Wilton's fondant rolling pin is a fairly hefty piece of equipment, at 20 inches long. It is made of non-stick plastic and has a good weight to it, which means it does the job well, without being so heavy you will get arm ache using it. It is recommended that you use use confectioner's sugar alongside this product, to ensure optimum rolling of your icing.Due to the size, this is perfect for anyone with a professional interest in cake decorating as well as those who like to make occasion cakes for family and friends- it is absolutely deal for larger sized cakes. It easily allowed me to roll out icing for a 16" cake that I was decorating in one smooth piece and the width means that you get consistency of thickness across the whole icing sheet. The same is true for pastry, which this is also great for. Because of it being plastic, this stays cool even in fairly warm temperatures, and so you can expect a good result whenever you use it.The only potential problem with this item is the fact you'll need a decent sized kitchen drawer to store it in. I had trouble with this in my kitchen, so have to keep it stored away inside my mixing bowl in the cupboard. The unusual size also means Amazon sends this item in a box significantly larger than it really needs to be and so it is a bit of a waste of packaging.Overall this gives an excellent finish and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in baking and decorating cakes.

I make a lot of family celebration cakes and as time goes by my old, wooden rolling pin can no longer cope with delicate icing. I ordered the 'Wilton Rolling Pin' to see how different it would be. This is an enormous rolling pin at 20 inches long, 50,8 cms, and it's also wide and heavy but nice to use because of the super smooth, non-stick surface which glides over fondant icing. To make sure you get an even better non-stick surface use confectioners' sugar, never ordinary flour for icing, to gently coat the rolling pin. To make things even easier roll icing out on a non-stick mat which will help you lift large sheets of icing without it breaking.Perfectly good rolling pin for general use and all types of pastry but perhaps too large if you're making an average sized family pie. Before you use the rolling pin for the first time wash it in warm, soapy water and dry with a cloth. Do the same each and every time you use it. Good quality rolling pin for anyone creating a large, celebration cake which needs layers of even, flat, fondant icing. Happy to recommend.

Wilton, what have you done? I'm usually a big fan of Wilton products as they are usually reliable, well made and generally provide good value for money. But when this rolling pin arrived, and I removed it from the packaging, I looked at it and there seemed to be a curve to it. Because of its size I thought that it may be an optical illusion but unfortunately it isn't and there is a bend in the middle. I have added a video (which is a bit blurred because I was trying to show the warp by filming with light in the background) and if you look and listen you can see and hear the problem.I can't use this. But I'm also not in a rush to use it and I also recognise that it is a manufacturing defect (these things happen). However, I would still recommend buying it because it is non-stick, the size is great and if it was straight it would do a great job. The benefit of buying from Amazon is that if you get one that has a curve, just ask for a replacement and send the wonky one back.

This is a professional 20 inch long rolling pin. It is very smooth and ideal for cake decorating. I already have a slightly smaller one of these rolling pins and they are the best rolling pin I have ever used for sugar crafting and icing and come in several sizes, from the really large ones like this, to small 5/6 inch rollers ideal for sugar paste rolling for flowers. The roller is very smooth and non stick, so it can be used to lift up large rounds of icing sugar to aid placing it over larger cakes, which is really helpful. I also find that these rollers stay cool as you use them, so that icing doesn't become warm and sticky and difficult to handle. I really can't recommend these rollers enough for the cake decorators out there, you need one of these!! The price is really good for one of these large rollers of this kind, as they can cost up to £30 and I know my slightly smaller one cost me £25, so this is a bargain at just below £20.

You can't get better than this huge rolling pin for decorating cakes with fondant. Before I owned this I was struggling when making birthday cakes with a combination of a wooden rolling pin and a smaller icing rolling pin - not ideal. With this you can get a really smooth finish and be sure that it won't stick when used correctly. The packaging has a handy guide on the back as to the amount of fondant needed for your size of cake. The rolling pin is easily washed with soapy water - min fits (just) in a standard sized drawer, out of the packaging. You should be aware that it's very heavy and substantial being made of solid plastic.I get best results using in combination with a silicone mat.Quality item that is fantastic for those serious about sugar craft and those, like me, wanting to get slightly better results when making their family cakes alike - I would recommend.

This extra large rolling pin is designed particularly designed for fondant icing, cake decorating but can also be utilised for pastry. It came packaged in a ridiculously large Amazon cardboard package [!] but when out of all the packaging it is quickly seen to be a good, solid rolling pin. It is recommended that it is washed with warm soapy water before you begin then away you go for some easy rolling out. For best performance it suggests confectionery sugar is sprinkled over a silicon mat and over the pin but it is non stick and glides easily over the icing; its weight gives a firm controlled motion and I think it is a quality addition to the kitchen of anyone who has to regularly decorate cakes. It is very easy to clean, the only problem is that it might not fit easily in some smaller kitchen drawers!

If you are into cake decorating then this is for you.The roller is a good length so you can roll fondant or pastry to a large area with fewer passes which is what sometimes causes tearing by over working it.Although it is long it is not to heavy to use I found it very comfortable to roll with and the construction material ensures that your fondant or pastry don't stick to the pin when moving it about..I found it easier to cover cakes with the larger carrying length of the pin so you can carry a larger piece, of fondant for a smoother cover of your cake.A definite recommend for all cake makers out there whether beginner or more experienced you will find this a great help.

I'd previously used my otherwise excellent granite rolling pin for icing, and although the surface is polished and smooth, I did find that my icing would stick, and obviously you can't 'flour' the rolling pin the way you would for pastry! This rolling pin solves all those problems, it's heavy enough to be very effective at rolling and flattening my icing but miraculously doesn't stick to the icing, and it's 'a piece of cake' to lift the icing up, draped over the pin, and then lay it over the surface of your cake, being able yo remove the pin cleanly and easily from underneath.Wish I'd discovered this sooner. Would have saved me so much hassle previously!

Solid feeling rolling pin for fondant, works really well, hasn't been sticking yet. Quite heavy, could probably use it as a baseball bat if required. ;)Very happy with this purchase, bought it before starting to work with fondant so don't know how other rolling pins would compare. But I certainly wouldn't try my wooden one on sugar!I like the size, you get even rolling from edge to edge, even when working on larger quantities of fondant for bigger cakes.

Minimal packaging (although delivery box was huge) that is easy to open. Quite heavy - you do not want to drop it on your tiles or your toes! Excellent for larger tasks (cakes). Did not stick on ready made fondant icing block or ready made puff pastry. The uniform diameter means no worrying about dents in your work. Cleans easily and did not take on the colour of even the darkest icing.

love this rolling pin! it is seems to be non-stick and much easier to roll out fondant icing smoothly. I had a rolling pin by different brand and scratched it when cleaning off icing with knife (!) I have previously used Wilton products and find them excellent, so I chose Wilton rolling pin. This one is lots better. Very pleased. Many thanks

This is great. Nice long length, no interruption of length by handles and a good weight to it.So far it seems to be quite non-stick so no need for constant coating with flour or icing sugar.Apart from rolling out fondant it is good with pastry and seems quite cool to the touch.A very useful addition to your baking equipment.

This sturdy rolling pin is a joy to work with especially as prior to this I have used wooden rolling pins and it has been difficult at times to get the fondant off the rolling pin. It is a good sized rolling pin which is well suited to working fondant. A great product for all bakers amateur and expert alike.

Beautiful rolling pin, which is ideal for icing large cakes. I received it this morning and know that I'm going to get a lot of use from it. If you are into cakes, especially wedding cakes, or large birthday cakes, that are covered with the roll-out icing, then this is for you.

I purchased this rolling pin specifically for rolling out fondant icing on a largish scale - i.e. wedding cake size. I also bought the little rubber rings which go with this product to keep an even thickness to the paste. A perfect combination.
