I bought this for myself, initially to use as an icing gun because I am not great with using icing bags and the other type of plastic icing guns gave me sore fingers! Anyways, had the younger grandchildren round to make cookies, This was the first time using it.....and three eager beavers to help!!.......used the recipe for cookies as written by one of the other reviews, and they turned out fantastic, couldn't believe how many we made in such a short space of time, there are loads of cookie cutters to choose from, they loved picking out the different designs. I took the advice of another reviewer and did not grease the tin, good tip. If you want very small cookies, just click the gun ONCE and pull the gun away,if you want bigger and fatter cookies, click the gun TWICE before pulling the gun away from each cookie.ICING A CAKE - To be honest, I found this a little harder, it does work and it s certainly easy on the fingers, you just keep clicking the gun trigger, but personally I wouldn't recommend it for very fine detailed icng because it is difficult to control the flow of the icing, a bit like one of those guns that are used to put silicone sealer around a bath.....they carry on spouting product until you release the trigger.......this is very similar......I did successfully ice the outside of a sponge cake using the larger rose shape, I suppose I was just hoping it would be a bit more detailed. It could be that I need to practice more. Dont be put off this item though, it is actually very good all in all and comes in a great storage container.

I feel that it is a shame that the other reviewers had problems with this item so decided to write a few instructions. I have had this item (and another older model) for years. Mine came with one recipe on the back of the leaflet that sits on the top of the box when it arrives. I have followed this recipe and baked beautiful shortcake type biscuits. The knack when it comes to pressing them out is to use an UNGREASED non-stick tin. Yes, ungreased is the way to go otherwise it just won't work!Sorry but this recipe is in american 'cups'Cookie Recipe1 1/2 cups butter or marg1 cup granulated sugar1 egg2 tablespoons milk1 tsp vanilla extract1/2 tsp almond extract4 cups plain flour1 teaspoon baking powderPreheat oven to 200 deg C.Thoroughly cream butter and sugar. Mix egg, milk, extracts together then add gradually to the butter/sugar mixture. Add the flour and baking powder gradually to make a smooth dough. Do not chill. Place dough into cookie press and press cookies onto UNGREASED non-stick baking sheet. Bake for 6 minutes. Remove cookies carefully with a pallet knife whilst still warm. Cool on rack.I used my food mixer to beat the butter and sugar then put on my dough hook when i added the flour as it is a stiff (but slightly sticky) dough. When using the press, press it against the baking tin, pull the handle once until it clicks then lift it away from the tin. The dough shape should stick to the tin. If you grease your tin the dough will not stick and you will have big problems.Hope this helps!!!

I spent a long time looking through products and reviews confused as to which, if any, of the cookie presses are any good. In the end I bit the bullet and went for this one, and I'm very glad I did! It really couldn't have been simpler to use - just fill with your cookie mix, choose your cutter shape and screw the top on. It took a couple of clicks to get going but after that I was producing sheets of perfect cookies in minutes! I used a very simple recipe as I wanted to test the product without using too much time.My recipe is: -5oz self-raising flour4oz Margarine2oz caster sugar1 teaspoon vanilla essence (not essential but very tasty!)The key is to make sure the mixture is not too sticky (either add a little more flour or pop in the fridge for a few minutes). You should be able to roll it into a sausage shape without your hands becoming too sticky. Rolling into the sausgae shape also makes it simple to then slide into the metal tube. Other ingredients can be added to the recipe to create more exciting flavours; I have so far tried - cocoa powder; orange zest and cinnamon with fantastic results! I haven't used the icing function so much as the biscuits are yummy on their own but so far it has caused no problems. It was also very easy to clean (I don't have a dishwasher so that's always important for me!)All-in-all a great product and one of the few that will not end up confined to the back of my cupboards!

I got this yesterday for Christmas and as many others on here, I struggled with the biscuits. I saw a recipe on here and tried it but for some reason I couldn't get it to work so in case I'm not the only one who couldn't work out that recipe I thought I would write in my own that worked for me.Ingredients:300g/11oz plain flour2 tsp ground cinnamon1 tsp ground nutmeg1 tsp ground ginger140g/5oz unsalted butter6 tbsp honeyPreheat the oven to 180 C/350 F/Gas Mark 4.Sift the flour and spices into a bowl and rub in the butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.Add the honey and mix together well to form a soft dough (it will be quite sticky). To make the dough ready to roll out and cut with biscuit cutters you would wrap the dough in cling film and chill in the refrigerator for 30minutes.But to use this icing set, do not refrigerate, just put the dough straight through the set.Press the end to the NON GREASED non-stick tray and click it once, pull away and your shape should be left.Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes until slightly golden. Leave to cool.I sometimes ice the biscuits with white icing (icing sugar and water) but this is not necessary.I hope this helped, when I come across more recipes I shall write them on here for all that need it.Hope you enjoy!

I’m really happy with this device. I bought it to make profiteroles because using spoons was giving me uneven shapes and sizes and piping bags with their tiny nozzles were bursting under the pressure! The first few were a bit of a mess but the technique is easy to learn and the rest were quite uniform. I also used it to fill the profiteroles afterwards. My husband had a bit of an issue with somehow getting cream behind the plunger and that ended up squirting out of the back of the gun around the mechanism, but he thinks he maybe got some air trapped in there or something. More of a user error than an equipment error. There are lots of small parts to clean and dry but this is easy enough if it’s done straightaway.Assembly is straightforward, the parts are just a bit stiff the first few times you twist them. It comes in a plastic box that can be kept for storage, which I find useful in a baking cupboard that is otherwise overflowing with loose bits and bobs.Overall I think it’s a sturdy good quality piece of kitchen equipment and it’s giving me the results I wanted. I just need a bit more practice! I haven’t tried to make biscuits or do any decorative piping.

Arrived today and could not wait so my first batch of cookies is already cooked and half eaten! I used the recipe by Dee in the review here but adapted it for gluten free (used Doves Farm plain flour and one teaspoon of xanthan gum powder) and I also added some baking powder as that is recommended in every other recipe I've seen. Took a bit of fiddling with the press at first and a couple of practice cookies but it was actually very easy to use once I got the hang of it. The cookies looked tiny on the trays but grew as they cooked and they look very good, almost professional. I used 5 different patterns and all produce cookies roughly the same size so they cook evenly. The press was also quite simple to take apart to wash. This would make a lovely gift for someone who enjoys baking as it comes in a good case and looks impressive. Also a nice selection of icing nozzles which you can use with the press or ordinary icing bag. Another thing I'm impressed with, I found squeezing the handle was actually easier than piping stiff cookie mix with a bag and nozzle and the results are far more uniform. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to make their own, homemade cookies. I have never used a cookie press before and ordered this one so I can make my own biscuits. I ordered this particular model based on numerous positive ratings and did not regret it. I looked at the more expensive models offered at Amazon as well, but this one got the most reviews and most of them were very good, so I ordered it and used it for the first time 2 weeks ago. I used the basic recipe provided by one of the users and used a regular ungreased cookie sheet, cookies came out great! I also added some cocoa to the basic mixture, and the cocoa ones came out fine too.Kids loved them and I was glad I had a healthy alternative to grocery store cookies for them (it only takes like 5 ingredients to make your own cookies and biscuits, go read label on cookies you got in the store). The press is easy to use –as I never ever used one before, and it makes fantastic cookies. I give it a 5 start because I’m very happy with it and would recommend to everyone.

The Cake and Biscuit Icing set is FANTASTIC.If you have the patience to get over the fact that yes, it IS a little fiddly (at first), then it's a truly fantasic product and a very welcome addition to my kitchen!I bought it because I had to put buttercream on 300+ cupcakes for an event and it quite literally saved the day! I had done a trial batch with a piping bag but I knew it would have taken far too long and been far too painful! This gadget is great, the only downside I found was that the biggest star nozzle wasn't quite big enough for my cupcakes. (However, I applied a little pressure and bent the edges out, and it's almost the size I wanted)My only recommendation, before you purchace this product,is that you bear in mind- the gun takes a little getting used to, so it might take a little practice to get the icing/buttercream styled exactly the way you want.

The wife saw this set on the high street for £33.00, so when I saw the same set on Amazon, I ordered it for Christmas.Unfortunately, the wife saw it arrive and immediately wanted to play.It comes in a neat little case with all the bits and pieces shrink wrapped inside. It's well made and the metal centre tube is none stick inside for easy cleaning. In fact it's really easy to clean, it all just twists apart.Does it work, absolutly. The cookie/buscuit side of it works really well from the recipe posted by another user. In fact the wife is chuffed to bits and I'll weigh 20 stone if she keeps on turning out buscuits. The icing side is a little harder, but with practice, I'm sure it'll become easier.Nevertheless, it is well made, seems durable and I would highly recommend.

Thanks to the other fellow reviewers, took their tips on board ,myself, and two kids 8 & 12, made great looking biscuits ! The only downside to this so far , was the lack of instructions- it needs a little booklet inside with clear instructions/recipes and cleaning tips. Haven't used it for icing yet, so can't comment on that side of it- but as cookie cutter it worked well and has a nice box to kept it all packed away neatly in. Now that we have had success with the first batch, I will try tweaking the recipe and will post any others that work well. Oh one thing , if you are doing it with children, my daughter who is 8 , had a little trouble with pulling the trigger,so I am not sure it would be suitable for younger ones.

I bought one of these because i needed to decorate 140 cupcakes i made for a birthday party, firstly the quality is top notch and it made icing the cakes using butter icing a doddle. it holds enough icing to generously ice 10 to 12 large cupcakes and although the supplied nozzles are a bit on the small size they still work well and produce some great results, i found filling it up quite easy using a desert spoon with not too much mess. cleaning it is easy as the top and nozzle holder just twist off leaving the stainless steel tube for easy cleaning, i have not used the cookie maker discs yet so i can`t comment on them but for icing cakes this is quicker and cleaner than the traditional icingkits that we normally use.

I bought this as I am so fed up with icing bags that just don't last. They work up to a certain point but then if you give them something challenging to work with (i.e. a stiffer mixture like choux pastry or creme pattissiere), the nozzle eventually invariably ends up going into whatever you're trying to make and the whole set becomes useless as the neck of the bag has stretched. I had to give this a 5 star overall rating as this doesn't happen with this product. It's great and I highly recommend it BUT......it takes some getting used to and although it goes through a dishwasher it's far better dismantled and washed by hand.Practice makes perfect with this but I don't think you'll be disappointed by buying it

This is a very sturdy product and comes with 5 yr guarantee which other cheaper versions don't offer. However as a cake maker, it is not really suitable for the sole purpose of icing as it carries on expressing icing after handle is released. It only has small nozzles which are unsuitable for cup cake or royal icing. Because it is not precise, you end up trying to either cover a mess or clearing all icing and starting again. I am really disappointed, not in the quality or price of the product but in that it probably is ideal for biscuits and not for icing. I genuinely though I had solved the problem of messy icing bags back to the drawing board. If you are purchasing this for biscuit making it is perfect.

I was a little apprehensive when i bought this item as to whether it would be any good, as there are plenty of cheaper products on the market. When it arrived and actually held it in my hands i was very pleased with the quality, and especially the box that it comes in holding everything nicely together in one place. I have made numerous batches of biscuits now and am over the moon with the outcome! this is so easy to use and just as easy to clean! NOT one of those gadgets that you buy and use once or twice and it ends up in the back of the cupboard never to be used again!!! if you are into baking this is something you will use all the time!!!

recieved the item today, excellent service and delievery cant fault the delivery time, normal delivery and arrived less than 48 hrs after booking.tried the biscuit maker, having serious problems with getting them to stick to the NON-STICK SURFACE, have tried the recipies in the reviews and so far none has worked, the dough comes through teh end of the nozle no probelmsa whatsoever but thats where it stays stuck to the end of the nozle. am presently trawling the net to find another suitable dough mix for use with the gun as it seems just too good an item to give a bad review to on the failings of myself realy.
