Ok, these are ceramic beads for keeping pastry down during blind-baking. They work good and one tub is just about enough for a 22cm (9") round tin. If you have any bigger tins or are do more than 1 at once...buy 2 (or more). Used them 10x so far...no problems. When the pie is done blind baking, I simply lift the beads out in the waxed oven paper into a heat proof dish (ususally a pot on the stove in my case) to cool. Once cooled (a few hours later) simply use the paper to funnel all the beads back into the tub and re-shelf for the next time. Simple.

Wash these thoroughly and INSPECT (don’t just rinse in a sieve) before use or you’ll have small chips of ceramic in your pastry like I did. Broken tooth narrowly avoided.They’re ok, I need more though. Not enough weight in one tub to blind bake an average quiche pastry base - pastry rose a lot in places. I would have though one tub of beads would supply enough for your average pastry dish. Bit disappointed to need more.I’m not the best cook, but I’m pretty sure i used them correctly.Beads are fine though. Tub is handy to store too.

I'm glad Amazon had this in stock as I bought it during the first lockdown and still using them now for my much improved baking skills. They are a bit dusty to start off with and I pretty much soaked them all in water and let them dry out before using. I kept the pot and washed that out as well. They are definitely heavy enough once all poured out to blind bake a tart case to give me a good workout just by taking the tart case in and out of the oven!

I bought these beans as I enjoy a good quiche and I've bean impressed with the result of using these on top of the pastry. I use a layer of baking or parchment paper between the beans and pastry too which has produced good results with minimal fuss and cleaning.My dish is a pretty large 27.5cm which one tub will just about cover, but I could probably do with another one to get beans right to the edges.Fraction of the price of beans elsewhere.

I used these beans to hold down baking paper for blind baking flan cases. They are well made with no broken beans or bits in the tub. Beans are the same quality as those sold in a well known bakeware shop but you get a larger quantity for less money than in this shop. Heats up well with no cracking or splitting and very easy to clean, just run under the tap once cooled. Very pleased with quality and value of product.

Tala is quite the name in asking, so I was expecting reasonable quality. I was not disappointed, the ony thing is that these need washing before use... I know this sound obvious, but they are full of ceramic powder. I was surprised how much I washed away of this powder!That being said. They do the job great and be use age instructions n the size, just in case you don't know what to do with them.

if you like blind baking you will love these Ceramic Baking Beans. They are simple to use, they are very good at what they do, and if you do not apply them to the items you are baking directly but with a protective foil, they do not need to be washed. This is the second box I purchased, as now I use two quiche trays at the same time to save time, and they are both very good and last long.

I was expecting a few more in the pack so was pleased I hadn't bought the 500gm version. Otherwise, heavy little ceramic balls that have taken the place of the dried chickpeas I had been using since the 1980s. As the balls are white and fairly large (each about the size between a marrowfat pea and a cherry), there is a lot less likelihood of losing them on the floor.

Love it! The box contains more than enough beans to cover my 20 cm pie baking pan. The beans can wash up and dry nicely, and they cool off pretty quickly.However, really disappointed with the seller's shipping, it was packed in a bag instead of a box, so the plastic pot ended up broken with beans all over the bag when it arrived in the post.

My wife is delighted with this product. As someone who does a lot of baking, this set of ceramic beads has proven an ideal means of blind baking for tarts, flans, etc. They were excellent value for money, easy to clean after use and the resealable carton is ideal for storage. This has encouraged us to buy more sets as Christmas presents.

Good value, effective at doing what they are meant to, decent packaging for storage - everything you could ask. 700g seems like a better amount than 500g (which is what a lot of the alternative brands offer) as it does generously cover the base of a good-sized (8-9") flan case or cake tin completely. Can highly recommend.

They do what baking beans are supposed to do, and there's plenty of 'em. Plenty of weight in them to keep your pastry flat. Use with baking paper underneath and you'll have no need to clean them. The plastic pot they come in is perfect for storing them between pies. You'll get years of use from these little fellas.

Treated my wife to some of these for a birthday present and they have totally sorted her wet, soggy bottom. Her quiche is good but a soggy bottom just ruins it. Now with these she's back in the game. Not sure they went down well as a gift but I redeemed myself with my other gift, a rotary washing line.

Great for quiche, flans and tarts. I put some baking paper in the base and cover it with the baking beans and get a much better result. I wash the beans once they have cooled and lay them out on kitchen paper to dry and back into the container ready for the next time. Easy to use with good results.

They arrived super quickly. Bigger than I had imagined (not a bad thing). Look good quality. Haven’t used them yet (which is why there’s only 4 stars). I hope it wasn’t a once off I needed them and didn’t have them. At least next time I make a pie (whenever that’ll be) I’ll be prepared!
