This disk appears to have done the trick. Installed in my 7 year old Vista Laptop it has given me a lot more storage space, and the Laptop runs faster too. No apparent issues with the disk, worked 1st time.Tips for installation if you have not done this before;1. I used Acronis True Image (other disk copy utilities are available) to clone the old disk to the new one.2. Turn the PC off, and disconnect from the power. Remove the original disk from the PC/Laptop3. Connect it to a suitable SATA to USB cable - I used the one in the link below4. You may need to remove a little adapter on old disk that is there so it interfaces to the Laptop connections properly. This was the 1st time I have done this, and it took a bit of head scratching to see what was going on - see image below. You will also have to remove the disk from the caddy5. Install the new WD 750 disk in the Laptop/PC using the caddy and interface adapter, screw the compartment cover in place.6. Attach old disk with USB cable to Laptop/PC7. Boot the PC/Laptop with the Acronis recovery disk or in my case USB drive (see Acronis documentation etc on how to create this). This may require a change to the boot disk order in the BIOS - hit F9 on my Laptop to do this.8. Follow the cloning instructions and go and have a cup of tea/coffee then return an hour or so later when the cloning is complete9. Once complete shut-down PC, remove all USB drives and power on - again you might need to change BIOS back to boot from harddisk10. Watch it boot and you should be done.NB If you do this with Windows 8 or 8.1 you might need to re-register Windows with Microsoft - again follow the instructions to apply the new license key they give you.https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00GHJJPEK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Delivery was longer than I might have expected, but it came in the end.

I've tended to stay away from WD drives in the past, in favour of Samsung and Seagate, purely for brand loyalty reasons. However, having seen some reliability stats from "big data" businesses, which put WD comfortably ahead of [some of] the competition, I've switched allegiances. Not that it *really* matters for the kind of workload I'll be putting this drive under.I looked at eBay first and encountered a number of sellers peddling "factory refurbished" drives, so I turned to Amazon, hoping to avoid this as I want a brand new drive. The price I paid is what the drives on eBay were going for, so I was worried that I might still end up with one of the "factory refurbished" jobbies, but nothing about the drive or its packaging suggests that it is refurbished. It's fully sealed and looks brand new. So I'm happy (or in ignorant bliss) on that front. Note that some of the marketplace sellers here ARE selling refurbished drives -- so caveat emptor, if you care about this. The drive appears to run quietly and without giving off a lot of heat, but I'm most of all impressed with the read/write speed, which exceeds 100MB/s -- comfortably more than the old drive which is being replaced. One slight oddity is that the drive doesn't trigger the activity light on my laptop's ultrabay caddy, whereas my old drive did. I wouldn't want to speculate on the reason nor whether the drive or caddy itself is to blame, as I don't know how this particular feature is implemented. Still... not a big problem for me.

I popped this in a cheap but effective 2.5 inch portable drive cover to check out the drive before it is put in the pc.I purchased a like for like as our low power Asus had been running virtually non stop for in excess of 7 years (more on than off) & had heard better things about this brand reiability than Seagate units, so decided a slightly larger capacity was warranted & if that didn't solve the problem we could use it with a usb 3.0 connection for xbox one expansion / capacious compared to our old 500 GB unit.It arrived at a cheaper price than other units as it wasn't in a retail box, but did come in an anti-static bag as per standard with delicate electronics. To fit into a cheap Sabrent external drive adapter case was easy, took about 8 seconds to remove lid, & install (slide in so it meets male / female connectors) ..closed lid, connected to my new laptop to check basic functionality before setting it up.Obviously if you do have the chance to check out a units operation prior to opening up a pc box as a "just in case" precaution / intend to have it sitting around prior to install ...spend a few pounds on an external drive case, handy especially if you are upgrading a pre-existing working hard drive, or attempting recovery of a seemingly failed unit. ...it makes things easier & couldn't be simpler.

I recently decided to upgrade the 160Gb HDD in my Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 to give more storage space and after initially considering an SSD (still very expensive for the capacity compared with a conventional HDD), I opted for this Western Digital drive. It has been in the laptop for just under a week now and is running fine with no issues to date. I used Acronis True Image WD edition to clone the contents of my old drive (including the Vista OS) on to the WD drive to give me a bootable drive and it worked a treat. No problems at all when I rebooted the computer once the drive had been installed (which is always "fun" in a Toughbook because of the protective caddy the hard drive is housed in.The WD edition of Acronis True Image is free and downloadable from the WD site.It will only work with a WD drive. I think that WD are to be commended for offering this as a free download, considering the price of the normal Acronis True Image software. They do tell you though that it is not the full edition of the software, but it is more than adequate for cloning (which is what most people will want it for).I am certainly encouraged to buy another WD drive when I need another one.

I bought this for a PS3 SuperSlim with only 12GB memory - after screwing this into the mount (available here: Sony PlayStation 3 Replacement Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Mounting Bracket) it slotted in easily and my PS3 instantly found the disk when booted up and formatted it.I have since installed several games and had no problems what-so-ever. There's not much to say about this other than it was well packaged and 500GB is more than adequate for what I need. I initially looked at a 320GB drive (which was still larger than I needed) but I wanted a trusted brand - I have used Western Digital external hard-discs for some time and felt confident that WD would provide a great device.WD are also pretty reaonsable price-wise, there are cheaper brands but I have read some horror stories and didn't want to risk a poor quality drive. There are also more expensive brands out there, but this represents a good middle ground of decent performance, excellent quality, and acceptable price. In a nutshell: Highly recommended to anyone requiring an 2.5 SATA drive, especially those wanting one to upgrade the storage space of a PS3 - it was a doddle.

Just swapped the old 120GB hard drive in my PS3 for this. No problems installing it into the console or installing the console software and restoring my backup data. I was a bit worried as it's thinner than my old hard drive, but it fitted beautifully. For anybody considering changing their hard drive, Sony has a very comprehensive list of what needs to be done in their website. Simply Google "changing PS3 Hard Drive" and the first hit will be what you need. They detail everything from how to back up your current data, to downloading and installing the console software. Beware, you will need to have an external hard drive formatted to FAT32 to be able to back up your current PS3 files.Feel free to send me an ask if you're not sure what to do. I'll try to help as best I can, however the majority of information is easily located on Google :)I hope to update within a month on how everything is going!

WD HDD's have been known as reliable drives used by banks and busnienss (the high end models of course). However, their consumer range aren't neglected in quality whatsoever and with a 3 year warranty as standard a WD drive is the perfect choice for either a replacement for a failing/failed driveI'm not Biassed towards a manufacturer but WD alonf with Seagate are my first choices, especially seeng as I've been in the industry for the past 16 years.Yes, some drives fail before their time, and some are just dud, but so are many other things of sensitive electronic nature. This product, and any other WD product, green and the more advanced black range for consumers have my highest recommendations.WD 500GB 2.5 inch SATA Internal Hard Drive - Blue

Excellent (as far as I can tell, having had the thing in my laptop for a month now) hard drive. This was bought to rescue a Samsung laptop (NV350v5c, if anyone's interested) whose hard drive had been slowly dying for the previous 3 - 4 months. The drive was a perfect fit in the laptop body, just necessitating the usual transfer of the caddy from the old drive ('caddy' = just a piece of thick silver foil in the Samsung). The re-install of Windows was a different story, but I can't fault the drive at all. In use it runs quietly and disk access seems to be very fast.I went for the retail packaging to minimise the risk of a duff or re--furbished product. Even then,~£45 to rescue a £450 laptop seems like a good deal!

I bought this for my TV box, so I can record TV shows while I am out and it is flawless. I have not had a single error, or problem with it. I already have one of these WD Blues in my laptop and it never let me down once. With the brand Western Digital, you know it's a name you can trust. The hard drive is very quiet, when it is spinning up at full speed. It is hard to hear the header and hard to hear when it is writing data to it.These are becoming cheaper, because SSDs are becoming more and more mainstream for laptops and such, which makes this drive even better value for money.

I bought one of these to replace a 4 year old hard drive in my laptop. That was 500GByte 7200rpm drive but had got rather tempermental after the cat forced the laptop onto the floor from the desk - twice. So I expected the new drive to seem a bit sluggish in comparison. In fact, it seems to have sped the system up very nicely. Transferring the data from the old drive with WD's customised version of Acronis was very simple. So far, I am very impressed with the whole package as I have a faster system with more storage with minimal hassle.

I received it in less than 48 hours! very quick delivery (I'm out of UK)! I had my old hard on my laptop, now I can see a good improvement in performance! This Hard drive was thinner than my old one, so I just put some paper under it to hold it! All of all I'm satisfied with my purchase!

With my limited diy skills I managed to swap my acer laptop hard drive with the above. I leave my reviews few months later so as to make sure I give accurate feedback. It's been 3 months now and it runs smooth.

Upgraded my wife's laptop with this drive. It has been in use daily now for a number of weeks and is performing well.Received on time in high quality packaging. Condition of product upon receipt was brand new.

I got it as a replacement for a laptop in my work. Works fine and I was very happy to receive it on time. I have always preferred WD for hard drives. I have never had any problems with it.

Before you purchase this, make sure that you really need a 0.7mm drive and check what size is your old drive is, You might need a hard drive spacer if your old drive is 0.9mm.
