Great storage and no issues after using this for about 4 months (unlike previous Seagate disks I've used). It can get very audible during boot, defrag or if running jobs/apps with heavy reads/rights. As advice though, if you're using this in a desktop and copying a lot of data too it you'll find it's about 95% fragmented after copying - a boot-time defrag is then needed and with the 3-4TB I copied to it that took all night and most of the next day, with further defrags still needed after. Doing this reduced some (but far from all) of the load noises which were obviously from the need to read/write to too many disparate segments. Hope this helps someone!

It stores ALL of my games on Steam! Loading times are negligibly slower than an SSD, to the point where it's pretty much useless storing your games on an SSD which is more expensive per GB.Of course it's a hard drive and it has its limitations.If you intent to use this with tasks that require frequent read/writes of small data it can be very slow. I would recommend a hard drive for its cheap price per GB and large capacity. I recommend using it as a secondary drive, to accompany a faster medium that holds Windows and other small software. But... 3TB for this price is great and it's reliable.

I have not had this long, so can't state the longevity; but I have had similar from Seagate and they are still going strong after two years of constant use.I haven't made any technical measurements, but the write speed is very good on this unit as compared to my two year old drive. I'm getting around 135 mb per sec'. So I'm happy at that. I have had fast write, but it obviously depends on the file type you're copying.I would buy another.

Only just added a couple of these 4TB Barracuda drives into hot-swap caddies for my Icy Dock. Have previously had the 2TB versions and they worked well.I've tended to use Seagate or WD drives and have as yet never had an issue with data loss or failures These are not the fastest drives around but are quick enough for general use and reasonable price. The 4TB units are about the best bang for your buck at the moment.

Needed some more storage and I've been using seagate for years so picked this up for a good price. The drive is a bit thinner then my last one but still the same excellent quality and decent speed for a mechanical drive. Ticked all of the boxes for me. Arrived in an anti static bag inside a padded envelope which was enough to protect it. Been using it a few months now and it's running well with no issues.

Bought this to replace an identical one that had failed from a 2011 machine. The machines inbuilt recovery system re installed the operating system and original software, which left me to put on the software I wanted and the 200 odd updates required. The drive is quieter than the original one installed. I downloaded some free testing software and the drive passed every test. Good value for money.

I have several Seagate 1TB & 3TB HDD's already, but read on the internet that they can fail early, but luckily this has only happened to one 1TB after 22,000hours with a "Smart" warning (unlike other drives). The 3TB's run hot, so having read that the 4TB's are more reliable, I opted for these and they're great. Just as good as the 3TB's, but run a lot cooler, so should be even more reliable.

You would expect a 7200rpm drive to be noisy, but it is not the case. This unit is even quieter than many 5400rpm drives. Also, that dreadful coil whine noise which affects many hard drives (especially WD Black) is not present here. Overall seems to be a nice deal. However, due to Seagate's reputation for having troublesome units, I am a bit skeptical I must admit.

No problems thus far, I have always bought Barracudas when buying HDs...this one is to replace the WD drive that came with my Mac Pro...it failed, unlike the 3 Seagates it also has in there (now 4!) Until I can afford a complete complement of SSDs (I have one 480Gb SSD as my system drive), Barracudas offer great reliable storage for a good price.

The Seagate Barracuda 1 TB Hard Drive easily replaced an 80GB Hard Drive, which had failed. The Lenovo Laptop is now performing perfectly after downloading all needed drivers from the Lenovo laptop site. Windows 10 replaced Windows XP. Now there is plenty of space on the hard drive for all the things I want to do.

My original HDD became corrupt so I bought this one. (The original was 5 years old but was restored A1 {using chkdsk and reformatting}, so still usable... for use next time)I have used Seagate Hard Drives in Pc's for 20 years and found them very reliable.This 1TB drive is good value

The drives themselves seem ok but they were very poorly packaged.Bought a load for me and friends and they were literally all chucked in a box with minimal bubble wrap.Will be keeping an eye on them me thinks. Other than that, no issues and great price.Hence only 4 stars.

Obviously not as fast as an SSD, but more than fast enough for storing files on. Came sealed in an anti-static plastic bag and wrapped in bubblewrap for protection. Was easy to install. For 2TB of storage, the price is very competitive and I would definitely recommend this HDD.

Best thing I have done purchasing this hard drive.and delivery came on time as stated. I installed it into my Sony 2008 recorder then bought a handset to format it and jobs a good one. Absolutely delighted and saved myself from having to purchase a new recorder.

Changed my rating to 4 stars as it turnes out to be 4tb but only 2tb is formatted for use,. the hard drive itself is working like a dream it is super silent and faster than most hdd's. The packaging was absolutely amazing. it arrived in one piece
