Lets be realistic, this is a very cheap drive with more storage space than the majority of people are ever going to need. On a GB/£ basis it cannot really be beaten. The performance is not the fastest available, and without a noise measuring device I can't be accurate, but it is no noisier than most other drives.As far as I am aware, it is simply plug & play in most applications;- shut down your pc, plug it in, restart, let your OS install it and fill it with your files.I have bought several of these drives, for PC use and for CCTV applications, and haven't had any issues either in installing it or in use. If you want a drive offering a massive amount of storage at a bargain price,

As a normal PC user who uses hard drives as something needed to just be in place and work as well as other hard drives, and not a massive reviewer for magazines and trade adverts, the Barracuda does its job.It is quiet, it is faster than some of my previous drives (but it is new and hasn't been filled with fragmented data left over from previous use) and I would hope it is going to stay reliable. The questions asked to give a star rating contains the question "Is it reliable" How can a new user be expected to answer that when it is only a couple of months old?Perhaps I will re-evaluate the four star rating in a year or two when the question of reliability can be assessed.What else can be said about a Hard Drive?

I'm no hardware expert, but it only took me a couple of minutes to find four suitable mounting screws and connect it into my system. I already had unused SATA power & data cables in my case, but they're easy to find on eBay if you don't.It's a doddle to do a quick format in Win XP Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management. And best of all, I've now discovered XP Pro supports software RAID. I've still got bays/cables for two more drives, so when this one's getting full I'll buy two more and configure as RAID-5. That'll give me a total 4Tb of usable space, and even when one of the three drives eventually fails, I won't lose my movie collection!

Excellent HDD been running for 1 year now and never had any problems. I have windows running on a SSD and use this for my games and recording them to place on my YouTube channel. 2Tb is more than enough to keep me from losing space currently have 1.07 still free. Games are becoming so big now that I only have my most favorites games installed (32 games for now) Likes of ARMA3 54GB alone and the Witcher III is just under 50GB. Thanks from Kipland Kinkill

I bought this hard drive because i needed more storage on my PC, I put it in and loaded up my copy of windows and then copied everything onto it from my old Hard Drive and it has worked perfectly. the only thing I was surprised by was when it was delivered it was just pushed through my letter box and it was just wrapped in bubble wrap no box, but it works fine hence good feedback,Steve

Bought it to replace 3 smaller drives which were becoming full.It now takes up less space than before so I have room to add other drives if I wish-seems unlikely though. I have always used Seagate Barracuda drives before and never had a failure yet, so don't know how other makes compare. I just stick with the one I know. There is not much difference in price either.

Have to admit I was wary of purchasing a used hard drive, but because the specification matched exactly what i trying to replace it was worth a try. Glad I did in this case as it fitted exactly into place as a back up to my CCTV system and it self installed and formatted immediately. Had the system back up and running in under 20 minutes.

The hard drive runs very quietly with a minimum ticking noise, seagate is known for their build quality and this is no exception. This drive performs very well too which is what I've come to expect from seagate, overall I'd say that this drive is well worth the money for those who want that extra bit of storage.

THE CHEAPEST ON THE MARKET BY FAR THIS HARD DISK IS VALUE RANGED ON AVRAGE AT £199, I GOT IT FROM DABS OUTLET FOR MORE THEN HALF THAT AND WAS BRAND NEW, PERFORMANCE WISE IS FAST IM USING IT TO BACK UP MY OTHER 2TB AND IS VERY VERY QUICK I WOULD DEFFENETLY RECOMEND IT TO ANY ONE :)

Seagate Hard Drive, Good product, Good price and very good service.I've used it in conjunction with a security camera system, very simple to install, just plug in, format and go. I'm very pleased, however it's not as quiet as I had anticipated, but I can live with that.

The drive performs very well and was the best price I could find. However the packaging was not particularly good which could allow the drive to move in the cardboard box and potentially suffer shock damage. I'll keep my eye on its long term performance!!

It does everything i need and a bit extra. Very quiet and nicely quick. It's like that cringe inducing old 90's TV advert states...." It does exactly what it says on the tin ", and this item is no different, except you can't varnish wood with it.

The hard drive is working fine. I needed a new hard drive for my new motherboard. I like this product it is better than all the other products I have studied.My new hard drive is working fine thank you very much by for now Don.

This hdd turned up fast ! thanks .. One thing, the hard drive when plugged in didnt show up. had to go into disk management to sort it. after this worked fine.. more than fine ;)
