The drive came in an OEM package, ie no documentaion/driver cd or even Manufacturers packaging. The drive was packaged in an anti-static sealed bag, with plastic end supports inside a plain brown card box with I think Polish language writing on a label, this package was then inside a well packed Amazon box.Due to the packaging, I was a bit apprehensive that perhaps the drive was not actually brand new but having checked it out with CrystalDiskInfo, the run-time hours were very low indeed - I first installed Windows 7, then upgraded to W 10, so I expected to have some uptime and all was in line with my estimation. So my fears that the drive was not new were unfounded I am glad to report.I chose this 'Pro'drive over the straight Seagate 500GB Barracuda because the 'Pro' spins at 7200 vs 5400 rpm of the non-Pro and is therefore slightly quicker, 160MB/s vs 140MB/s, but even more important is the 5yrs for the 'Pro' vs 2yrs warranty for the non-Pro. The drive is for use in a low power email server (fanless Gigabyte BRIX N2807 GB-BXBT-2807, 8GB RAM, W10 Pro) running 24x7 so reliability and low power are my key considerations. The drive is not silent, as in how silent an SSD would be, but you need to be less than 2 feet away in a quiet room to hear the spinning. I don't have a non-Pro equivalent to compare the Pro version to. The email server sits about 4 ft away from my desktop machine and I can't hear any noises from the email server. The cost uplift between the Pro and non-Pro versions is about GBP 10 or about 30%. For me, GBP 10 more for increased reliability, ie 5yrs vs. 2yrs (it's not quite as simple as that, but generally a manufacturer will only offer longer warranty period if they believe that one device has a better expected life than another), is easily justified for my application, and my peace of mind.

Before i talk about this drive i just want to say that i am not using this drive in a conventional way, i have it installed with a separate SSD that are linked through AMD's store MI technology, using the SSD to accelerate the hard drive and act as a cache and if you are on a 2nd or 3rd gen AMD CPU i would highly recommend doing this especially for a game library as it massively increases loading times to more SSD levels of speed. As a driver for a steam library, this is nearly perfect, i personally bought the 3TB variant and it should give me more than enough storage for a good while yet. now i will say DO NOT BUY THIS AS A BOOT DRIVE,it might be tempting as youi get a ton of storage for little money compared to an equivalent SSD but it is not worth it. running an OS ANY hard drive will be infuriatingly slow and low capacity SSD are so cheap (256GB for £30-$50) there is no reason to buy this as a boot drive. but for a games drive or just general storage fro things you don't need to access often this is perfect. it was easy to install in my gaming rig and the store MI setup was easy as welli would highly recommend using store MI for AMD and optane acceleration for intel to get the most out of these drives, they make a significant difference in access times and general speed. also do not believe the "190MBPS read and write" claim on the product page, that is sequential reads and writes which don't usually apply to most people as most people dont work with single large files, for most programmes you'll be lucky to see more than a few MBps. all in all, for the price, these are a great buy and the warranty is nice as well

I purchased a 2TB drive for two reasons: 1) I had outgrown my old one and 2) I want a hot spare in case my main drive dies for some reason. I back up regularly but it will take a long time to re-install my work suite. The new drive installed easily as I had an extra slot in my desktop (still running Windows 7). I needed to borrow a SATA power supply lead from an unused computer and a few screws to mount the new drive - that is why you keep the old ones around. I did not see it in my available drives when I first booted (I am not a computer geek) but quickly realised that it was there but just needed to be formatted (could see the new SATA drive in "Device Manager").I downloaded Seagate DiscWizard from their website and I was able to clone my existing drive onto the new one. It worked great and very straight forward. It took about 3 hours to clone my 700 MB hard drive to the 2TB new drive. Unplugged the old one and the new drive booted perfectly the first time - all my software works. I am a happy camper. The only unpleasant part of the whole process was that I purchased cloning software from Acronis Disk Director for 35 quid before buying the drive. The Seagate software works great (unless you need some special features) - to add insult to injury, the Seagate software is made by Acronis. Overall, I am very happy with the product and their support website and software!

It's early days, but I'm happy with this 3.5-inch 8TB Seagate BarraCuda internal HDD. I bought it to replace my PC's main data drive, a 6TB Western Digital Blue - which lasted just 765 days. The biggest puzzle at first was that the Seagate appears to offer only 7.45TB of usable disk space, but the company clearly explains the reason for this on its website. Installation and configuration (in Disk Management) was a five-minute job, although copying back-up data took considerably longer. Still it's more than enough storage for my needs, and I'm hoping it will last a lot longer than the WD!In case anyone has doubts reading some of these reviews, I purchased my drive in March 2020 and it was fulfilled by Amazon and delivered the next day.The drive was clearly brand new, and arrived well-packaged - in an anti-static bag in a small but sturdy box with recycled plastic inserts to support the hardware away from the box's walls. That box was itself placed within a larger shipping carton, containing sealed-air padding.

This drive is noisy! The Toshiba 1TB HDD that came with my Asus M70AD Desktop PC was getting on for 5 years old and was starting to grumble a little now and then. This new Seagate drive makes the same grumbling sound but louder and ALL the time. Having tried a new Toshiba drive as well which was even noisier I think maybe 2TB drives are just louder than the 1TB due to more platters maybe?Update: The noise was just too much to sleep next to, so I have now fitted a 2.5" 2TB Toshiba laptop drive in my desktop. So far everything seems to run the same speed as with the 3.5" BarraCuda, games load just as fast (not tried any large open world yet) and it boots up and runs all apps the same.Maybe there is a second or two less speed but I cannot detect it without using a timer, it all seems the same really. The laptop drive is silent just a few feet away so a massive improvement on the noise front.

This 5Tb 15mm drive fits inside my Mac Mini late 2012 with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD, and an OWC dual drive kit. Follow the iFixIt instructions for replacing the IR sensor as you need to disassemble all the way down to the plastic frame that holds the disk. You need to install it with the shield from the original drive but without the mounting screws, electronics side towards the bottom maintenance cover. The SSD then goes on the bottom (remember that the Mac Mini is on its back as you work on it, so while open it's HDD down and SSD sitting on top of it, when back together and sitting as designed the HDD would be on the top with the SSD on the bottom). You need to be very careful installing the drive cables, putting the ribbons facing inwards so the SSD ends up as /dev/sda (/dev/disk0 on OSX) and the HDD as /dev/sdb (/dev/disk1 on OSX).

TL;DR below. Great drive for the price (2TB HDD model), and works as expected. However the packaging is below par for a mechanical drive like this, and so when it came though the letter box and and fell to the ground a meter below, it gave me a right fright. The packaging consists of cardboard and 1 layer of bubble wrap, and there is no fragile/handle with care sign on there at all, which may be why it was put through the letter box.Appart from the sub standard packaging, the drive works very well, and is easy enough to install (just the same as any other drive). It is also the standard 3.5 inch size, so there should be no compatibility issues in that regard. It is also relatively quiet for an HDD,although not silent.TL;DRIt is a great drive, although the packaging is worrisome. I would recommend it anyway.

Not much to say about this 2TB drive other than it works as intended, however have recently discovered that this is an SMR drive. I bought this specifically to replace my old Barracuda backup drive so it is fit for purpose. A word of warning to those looking to buy this drive as a system drive however, avoid. You should look to find a PMR drive instead.Seagate Barracuda Compute drives in 2TB, 3TB and 4TB are all SMR. The 1TB Compute drive is PMR. Barracuda Pro drives are all PMR, hence the inflated price. Do not be persuaded by the 256MB cache, this offsets the drop in random read/write speed associated to the SMR drive. Seagate do not disclose which of their drives utilize SMR and have removed this information from their datasheets,so I hope this informs your purchases.

Wanted a New HD to go in my newly upgraded PC. I still have a 7 year old Barracuda 2TB HD in my PC that has worked without fail, so decided to get another to go alongside it! The new one is advertised as being faster than my old one despite being the same drive. After testing, it comes back with around a 230 Mbs Read / Write speed compared to my old one returning around 200 Mbs. Not sure in reality this makes a difference given my Sabrent NVME drive returns a speed of just under 5000 Mbs, but as they say every little helps! Hopefully this will last as long as my older drive (which is still going strong)! Otherwise, excellent well built product from Seagate!

The product came packaged in a very nice foam which would protect the hard drive. The hard drive was also protected in a anti static bag which was a nice touch. Installation was simple and once installed the hard drives showed up as unformatted. I have been using it for a month now and have had no problems, just make sure to use rubber mounts when installing to reduce vibrations. This will also prolong the life of the hard drive.

Ideal product. Highly recommend.NOTE: If you are planning to use this as an external HDD, you need a caddy that accommodates 15mm thick drives. I bought the 'INEO' caddy and it works perfectly (see below):USB 3.0 External 2.5-inch SATA Hard Drive Enclosure - ElecGear Aluminum Caddy Case for Large 2,5" HDD SSD Thickness of 15mm, 12.5mm, 9.5mm and 7mm with Type A cable and free Type C Adapter Converter (USB3.0 15mm)

Having looked at many reviews for disk drives on Amazon there were many complaints about ones which were not properly boxed and for which manufacturers' warranties were invalid.Decided to pay more for a drive that was not an OEM version. When it arrived I checked the warranty on the Seagate website and it was valid.Drive installed without issue and has worked fine. Would definitely recommend.

Came in a bubble wrap parcel bag inside a static bag.Comes unformatted so if anyone doesn't know what to do, search for disk management and then find the drive. Right click it and select new simple volume and just keep clicking next, editing fields of you wish to do so. Then your drive should work.As for the format, search the system you're using to find out what's best for your use.

Does exactly what it says on the tin, plenty of space and does the job so far. 1 issue i have had is that it can take a bit of time installing games to it, especially via steam. It can take an age to allocate the disk space, but I just install the games on my SSD and then transfer them across which is infinitely quicker. Aside from gaming the speeds are dead on, no issues there.
