I wanted an SSD for archival purposes. Not blistering speed - reliability was my primary concern.Baracuda has 1.8m hours MTTF (on average it'll last 1.8m hours, 75000 days, 205 years). I did those calcs twice because I didn't believe it either. However, that's not the whole story. SSDs can only be written to so many times; Drive Writes Per Day. From a famous search engine:“Drive Writes Per Day” tells how many times you can overwrite the entire capacity of the SSD every single day of its usable life without failure during the warranty period.Baracuda=485 TB. ie you can rewrite the entire thing 485 times. As I just want to write 1TB ONCE that's me sorted. Many reviews of this SSD are average, stating it offers nothing new, its Phison S10 controller is 4 years old, newer SSDs with new controllers (eg Crucial MX500 et al) offer better performance for roughly the same money.Maybe, but any SSD outstrips an HD - including this one. This is WAY faster than my old 1TB clanky HD, uses far less energy and is silent in operation. The fact the Phison controller is still being used (not just by Seagate) means it's reliable. I looked at the 1* reviews for the Crucial MX500 and nearly all state "stopped working after a few months". That put me off so I bought this.I don't need boy-racer performance for an archival drive. But playing with it, it reads and writes plenty fast and the read speed would make it ideal for videos, audio, games in a PS4 etc.In fact anandtech.com states "The Seagate BarraCuda had great sequential read performance". Perfect for me.I installed this into Windows 10.Needed to format it using:Windows Admin Tools / Computer Management / Disk ManagementI formatted it using "new" GPT instead of MBR. Up and running within minutes.1TB in 50g. Amazing how far we've come from lead brick 10MB HDs!

Received this Seagate Barracuda 4Tb internal HDD in a timely manner but installation caught me out.I installed it in a new HDD enclosure easily but when connected via either Thunderbolt or USB cable, my laptop would not recognise the new drive.Interrogating Disk Management showed that is was correctly marked as Basic/3726Gb and online with Partition as GUID/GPT, however, the diskspace volume showed at Unallocated.I had to select Çreate new Simple Volume''and format to NTFS before the laptop would recognise this new HDD.I'm sure this would create problems for less savvy customers and result in unecessary returns as Faulty. The seller should really ensure that this is true Plug and play.I've yetto use the drive so can not comment on performance...yet.

Needed to increase the storage of my laptop, was simple to do. New layout is SSD + HDD. System os running on SSD and user data on HDD. I kept mostly all my apps on the SSD to ensure they run fast and smoothly, but transferred all games to the HDD as they take up lots of space, also moved my documents, pictures, videos, music and downloads to the HDD, in short the whole user area to the HDD. Did take some time for it to be done, at least around 12 to 13 hrs to complete transfer process as I have a lot of data, but it's still fairly quick. Its kinda annoying that different sellers sell the same item at different prices, had to pay £10 extra to get it a day earlier.

This is a OK piece of kit, it is handy for storage and fast enough, though the spin speed has been reduced from 7000 to 5400, it has huge cache which helps.I Transferred 1 TB to it of films, music and pictures and it managed in just a few hours, about 1/3 the time of my 3yrs old 2 TB drives, so satisfactory, though I think that the price could be better. It runs smooth and quiet, in so much that I had to keep touching the drive to insure that it was on, but there was no issues! As for reliability time will tell, because these are now been manufactured in a country where quality and reliability is an recurring issue.

This is for the 2TB SSDIn general this is a huge improvement on the original 5400rpm WD Blue drive that was originally in my Lenovo Ideapad 500-15ISK 80nt. It has gone from around 5mins to boot to desktop, to under 30 seconds! My only complaint is the Seatools SSD software (seperate download) there are a few issues that I am having with functionality and Seagate are not being very forthcoming with a resolution. The drive is about 7 days old at time of writing this and if you have a traditional spinning platter disk in your computer, this is a brilliant upgrade to speed up it's performance.

With 2TB of M.2 memory I’m assuming we have enough fast memory for gaming etc and these two fast 6GB drives will suffice for everything else, including mirroring each other! Sadly it was only AFTER purchasing and installing HOME windows 10 that we realised we could only have these drives mirror each other in RAID had we purchased windows 10 pro. Previously told this was not required! Laugh - I nearly jumped out the window! Anyway bags of memory and we will still use the one to back up the other in the manual grandfather, father, son way. Had drives fail before - these have a good reputation.

It's hard to pass judgement on a hard drive until it has been in use for some time, but so far ( a few weeks) it is performing as expected. However, the main concern is that the packaging it arrived in offered minimal protection for a potentially sensitive piece of technology. Given the size of boxes that "soft" items are sent in, the decision to post an unprotected hard drive in a package designed for books is difficult to understand and I can only hope the kind of handling the drive will have had in the post will not affect performance in the longer term.

I bought this hard drive primarily just to stick most of my steam library onto it due to not having enough space on my current SSD. So far I have had no issues at all my my hard drive at all, it works for what I intended use it for. It is a very cheap way to have some free space on your PC, by having some of your games (if not most of them) onto a hard drive to use as your steam library.Overall I would recommend buying this if you want cheap storage, just bare in mind that write speed isn't as fast as an SSD but for the price its good.

Replaced a 500GB HDD which was getting to full capacity. Also according to my BIOS and internet search a message I was receiving indicated the HDD may have an issue. So replaced easy to install etc. however still getting the same message so could be a motherboard issue.Nearly a month in to beeing fitted and PC issue I had is resolved which was motherboard battery CR232; but I have noticed a certain improvement in start up speed this could be to HDD fitted to 6Gbs socket; so very happy and wont need to upgrade until PC falls over.

This is a review of the 8TB Barracuda Pro (7200 rpm) drive, very fast, very quiet and huge amount of storage for those who need it I am using it as a primary storage for my Camera work, I use two 5800rpm 4 TB Baracuda's as backup for this drive and also have two offline copies as well, as this is 30+ years of photography you cannot have enough backups. Expensive (£33 per TB) but very fast and 7.2TB of usable storage. I have used seagate drives for years and have had very few issues reliable storage is a must.

its great, works as expected. easy to install if you know what ya doing. there are a metric poop ton of tutorials on youtube, a child could figure it out.this kinda drive is great for storing things long term that you might not access every day so to speak. like holiday photos and movies. i certainly wouldn't want to be running games from it or using it as a boot drive, that would probably reduce it life by up to half.

I had 3tb of storage on my pc and wanted to add this to prevent any future installs. Gutted to find out that my case only supports 2 drives though so I had to get rid of my 2tb and keep the 1tb ssd. In terms of installation, no, it wasn't easy. But that's because I'm really new to stuff like this. I assume it's just a standard install. Really pleased with it! Not so pleased having to download everything again though!!

First HDD I've ordered that has came with adequate packaging. Usually they're just lobbed in an anti-static and shipped loosely in a box. This HDD was securely packaged with some nice foam padding.Reads and Writes at adequate speedsWorks fine, no problems. Will report back and update review if it dies before warranty.

Installed the drive and using cloning software I cloned from my old drive onto this new drive, the result was amazing, it's a lot faster than my old Crucial 525G drive. Simple packaging and easy to install. This is my first ever Seagate SSD and I'm really impressed with the performance as against smaller drives.

Bought this to replace an older Western Digital black HD (64MB cache) that failed after 6 years good service. This new drive runs faster than one of those drives mated to an SSD using AMDs StorageMI, even when running on its own. Obviously not a patch on a dedicated SSD but at this price who cares?
