THis drive was purchased to use in a FIDECO enclosure which I have reviewed separately. It will be used with a Google Pixel Book as external storage.When I had assembled the drive into the enclosure I plugged it into my desktop PC which is running Windows 10 Pro latest version. The drive was recognised, so I set the partition as active and told it to format the drive. This failed as incomplete format. I tried 3 times without success. I thought the drive might have been faulty, so plugged it into the Pixelbook , and it was recognised, and formatted, but in FAT32 which I did not want. Windows would still not recognize the drive !!I then installed on the PC , AOMEI Partition Manager. This worked.

I bought this to go in a Dell G3 laptop that comes with a SATA based M.2 slot but had only a 1TB hard disk in it. It wasn't a quick hard disk either and installing games and updates meant I was waiting ages before I could join in on the weekly gaming activity with my friends.Having verified my laptop had the right type of M.2 SATA slot, I bought this and migrated Windows and all my programs over to this and kept my hard disk for just file storage. The performance difference is just staggering. One game that took about 4 minutes to load, now loads in 15 seconds. Most improvement gains in terms of loading up is a similar factor of improvement.When checking suitability of M.2 SATA products it is

Tested it on user benchmark and it came out almost exactly average for the model (52nd percentile), which speaks to the consistency of build quality. Would obviously be nice to win the numbers lottery and get one with above average performance, but as long as it performs as advertised I've no complaints.If you're on HDD (or a regular SSD) and are hesitant about upgrading to m.2, I'd absolutely recommend going for it. I have a 3.5" and 2.5" HDD for mass storage and had a cheap 2.5 SSD for Windows. The latter was noticeably faster than the former(s), but this blows them all out the water. At a minimum it's four times faster than the HDDs for read and write.This isn't the fastest m.2 you can buy,

There's not much I can say about this drive really, it's the cheapest 1TB M.2 drive I found, M.2 drives are easy to install and it's very quick in real-world conditions.Just make sure your motherboard can accept M.2 SATA drives! There are currently two types of M.2 drives available, SATA and PCI-Express. Some motherboards may only accept one kind and will not recognise the other.My Asus Z370-F motherboard for example has two M.2 drive sockets on it. However, whereas it can accept PCI-E M.2 drives in either socket, only one of the sockets is compatible with SATA M.2 drives. Moral of the story? I have in the main always gone for WD drives as they have been so reliable in the past. SSD tech isn't new to me but it was so expensive against a fast HDD. I went for the 1TB option and cloned the 'C' drive which I have to say was a bit on the scary side ! Using the WD software it was an easy'ish task and I'm happy to report all is wellFor those (Like me) who have multiple drives, and are cloning the 'C' Master drive, I would suggest removing the data cables from all but the source and target drives ( C Drive + New drive ) so as not to make any mistakes .... when done, reboot, ... making sure only the new drive is available to the system ...as you may get an error message saying something like 'boot error press any key blah blah.'.....

I use this as a secondary drive in an alienware 17r3 laptop next to my pcie m2 ssd. Performance is as advertised, this is a fast sata ssd with excellent software bundled together. You can download the WD SSD Dashboard that has real time drive information/performance and temperatures. You also get a basic version of Acronis Trueimage that you can upgrade to the full 2018 version for £20 at the time of writing this review.My only issue with the drive is that it runs a bit hot when under heavy load which can throttle the speed over 74 degrees Celcius (Writing a drive image of 280GB). At idle this drive is sitting at 52 degrees which is fine and short bursts of read or write do not raise the temps

Installed easily, configuration was no trouble, was all setup and working within 30 mins (and I haven't done anything similar to this - self install for years). It's pretty quick and so games that used to take minutes to load, now load in seconds (quite a lot of seconds in some cases) but definite big and noticeable impropvement over previous sshd load times.Also find the WD drive specific software useful and easy to use. A really good product, and as it's a few quid cheaper than Samsung or even Crucial equivalent SATA SSD products (at the time of purchse anyway) I would have no hesitation in recommending this. So I have now bought three of the 500gb M.2 SSD drives and I the only conclusion I can come to is that they are fantastic!I used one to replace the boot drive in my lenovo Y700 gaming laptop and then used another as a boot drive for my gaming laptop as well as using a 1TB 2.5" SSD for the general storage location. Both the laptop and PC are fully booted up in about 30 seconds. For the 3rd one I am using as a external storage space by installing it in a USB C caddy. By doing this I have super fast transfer speeds over thunderbolt.I would recommend anyone to buy the M.2 for the speed and price. Especially against similar nvme drives.

As I do lots of video and editing work, the 2TB M.2 drive seemed perfect for my use.It was incredibly easy to install as a secondary internal drive, only a slight jiggle to seat it properly and screw in. A quick format of the card later and away you go.I'm getting reasonable speeds of 500MB per second which is just about what I need for Multicamera editing without any delay in playback.I've not yet tried a test of thousands of smaller files but I'm unlikely to be doing this with the drive.It's too early to state the durability of this ssd and without extensive testing, its impossible to know

I bought a Crucial MX500 because I like Crucial products but what a mistake it was. That drive in my very slim laptop got so hot it would fail causing W10 to freeze even with the onboard fans doing overtime, eventually (after about 3 weeks) it corrupted altogether. So far the WD Blue has been great and runs around 30-35 deg, way cooler than the Crucial at average 60 deg plus.Only let down has been the WD version of Acronis which would not see the drive when it was connected via a caddy (Crucial version had no problems but won't run if it can't see a crucial drive).

Great product, most ssd`s are all the same in terms of read and write speeds, so really its just down to price and this one was the cheapest at the time £60 for 500gb.I had an 8 year old computer which ran so slowly although the parts were still in good order( new gpu) I was sure it was just dying, after researching online , a new ssd seemed the go to advice to rejuvenate an older pc was replace your hdd with an ssd.It has worked wonders, I use to turn on my computer and go brush my teeth in the time it had loaded, now... 15 seconds, 20 tops.

I brought this WD SSD 1TB Drive and Jesus this was a good buy it easy to replace from stock hard drive that I had in my PS4 Pro. PlayStation makes it easier for people to replace the hard drive and knowing I had to reinstall the system update from PlayStation website, lucky for me my games was already backed up on a 4TB portable hard drive save me downloading games. Oh my god I did notices the improvement the PS4 Pro booted up quicker and games loaded up more faster. I would recommend this SSD for a replacement

My new(ish) HP laptop has a 1TB hard drive and it also had a 16GB M.2 Optane memory module for recovery purposes. I'm not a big fan of recovery partitions, I do a clean install from standard Windows 10 USB stick every now and then.I took the back cover off and replaced the recovery module with this M.2 solid state drive. Installed Windows on the SSD and deleted all the Windows partitions on the HDD.Now I have a super speedy machine booting off an SSD and a TB of storage for all my data.

I bought this as a space to install some games with long loading times, the first one I've tried was Steep and with Ultra+ details and view distances it still loads gigantic landscapes in less than 5 seconds when dropping into new areas, very impressive!Speed tests have shown that the card reads and writes up to the given standards. Not as lightning fast as the Samsung EVO 900 series, (they're on another level) but it's better than anything less that M2! Super happy with it!

Went for this over the samsung evo 850. The laptop feels very fast now.. Only be aware that as this is normally installed as a second drive , the bundled Acronis true image does not handle this setup. The software expects this to be a replacement drive rather than a second drive. So you end up with a successful clone which cannot be booted off. Eventually had to reinstall windows which in hindsight was easier than trying other clone software. Neither easeus nor macrium worked
