I use these spanners most days in an industrial workplace and they are included in our technician kits. My set has been abused hard for over five years, and are still as good as new. They are sometimes used with an impact hammer to provide the leverage (including via the ratchet end) with no notable wear degradation. The roll bag is surprisingly good quality too - the stitching is still in tact, and the fabric can be cleaned under a tap and dries in a few minutes.Another surprising feature is quite hard to describe - they balance well in your hand which makes them very comfortable to use. The shaft is contoured for easy griping even when it, and your hands, are covered in oil and grease. My only complaint is that the open jaws are not offset, so if you have a nut/bolt that you can't get the ratchet end on because it is too wide, and the clearance for the shaft is too slim, you can't keep flipping the spanner over to slowly release the nut. Most spanners are offset to allow their use in tight spaces. I won't deduct a star from the review for that only because the rest of the tool is so well designed.I do wish they would make a set in metric half sizes for use on damaged bolts.

For light general work it is fine, I've had mine now for nearly a year now and they have there uses, but not for everything. I strip and build/maintain industrial gas engines, so I use them a lot. The ratchet end is fine, no probs there. However the open end is the problem, for normal spanner work they are not great, the nuts slip in the open end or they twist and jam on the grippy sides, not ideal. I have gone back to a normal open end spanner now and only use the wera open end if I have to hold the nut in a difficult position, without the nut falling out, that is what the open end does fantastically, holding a nut downwards at an angle it's is brilliant. The black metal plate for the nut in normal use has now bent out of shape, because it grips and won't let go and I could not get the spanner off constantly. So for everyday use:industrial use: ratchet - perfect, open end - for difficult situations only for nut holding ability - open end normal use get another normal spanner.DIY/home use: good all round combination spanner

I originally held off buying these as I thought that they were a bit unecessary and glimicky, but I gave in a few months ago and haven't looked back! Having these four sizes which are the most common in industrial work and then more standard spanners for the rest of the mm sizes makes for a great kit.Pros:The 45° offset bit on the open end can hold a hex bolt against that black flange allowing you to force the bolt though the holes with the other hand free with the nut.Ring end is good fit, fine and smooth rachet.Handle is comfortable to use.Cons:Open end is tight on that grippy plate and could damage soft or ascetic fasteners... But good on the bolts I come across.

Absolutely love these, let's just list them off:-The holder is very good quality & helps keep them well organised,-The spanners have a very good weight behind them & are very comfortable to hold,- The small return angle needed on a nut/bolt is insane compared to a regular spanner,- The ratchet mechanism is smooth,- The set is very comprehensive with all the sizes you could need for a normal set,-Amazon are selling these cheaper then I could find anywhere else online or in local shops,If you don't know why these are soo good check Wera or YouTube,Such an amazing set & would highly recommend if you use tools daily.

These are great scanners, however the ones being sold here are grossly over priced.I got a set on the Internet for just over £40 plus reasonable postage charge, whereas on amazon sellers are charging £60 not including postage, and some want well over £100 plus P&PRemember that a set is only 4 spanners and that they are made of steel NOT gold!I'd happily recommend these spanners, but would suggest that you shop around or you will pay over the odds.

bought these and absolutely blown away by how good they are! I use these spanners daily mainly in tight spaces and the nut holding feature works perfect and has already saved numerous scrapes on my knuckles which I almost expect on a day to day basis. Can not speak highly enough about these spanners. Yes there expensive but just try one and you will see there well balanced and worth every penny!

Excellent set of ratchet spanners made to Wera's normal high standards.Have used these for 12 months now and have been impressed. The nut holding function is a great idea for holding nuts in those awkward to reach positions.Only criticism is the lack of switch and crank in the shaft for ease of use but that version is due for release soon.

These spanner’s are very well designed with handy nut retainer so you don’t drop the nut when in tight spacesTeeth also on open end help with grip when trying to loosen tight nuts preventing rounding of nut is well thought out and extremely well executed as usual with wera you get what you pay forQuality tools without the gamble

It is special but not necessary. Beautifully made and engineered perfectly. Im happy to own them though! The real use.. is for not slipping off the nut when you have a high speed tool on the other end.You can just hold down on the nut and it will stay between the jaws! The ratchet end of the spanner is perfect, its Wera.

*** update ***I called wera directly and they told me to send it to them, if it was a manufacturers fault they would replace it. Within two days of sending it, I had a new one in my house.Heard nothing but good reviews from this make of spanner, I bought this August and my 17mm rachet has broken. Very disappointed

Extremely fancy packaging, and a fantastic sticker provided! The spanner has a very heavy feel too it which is nice, and the jaws for nuts is a very handy item. The ratchet mechanism does not feel like 80 teeth, but it feels strong and has hardly any play in each click. Good tool. - Daily use from a Plant Mechanic

These things look pretty simple but they are the Carlos Fandango of spanners, they have all sorts of features that justify the high price, but if you buy cheap tools you take a chance. These are expensive and feel it, good quality combination spanners. Could do with a few more sizes in the range though.

These are the most useful and best spanner set I have ever bought. Been in engineering 48 years and these tick Evey box should have bought these years ago easy and quicker to use light but very strong excellent ratchet and open end expensive but you can see and feel why. Well done Wera.

5.7.2013

Just received these spanners so have not used them properly yet but they are well-balanced, beautiful ratchet mechanism and nicely finished. The wrap is high quality too so overall highly recommended at first glance and I look forward to many years' robust service from them.

9.8.2016

Very nice if expensive, but see no reason they wont last for years. Quite heavy and the jaws and ratchet head are quite wide so not great for very small spaces. But as a go to spanner set, cannot fault them. Attract a lot of attention so don't let them out of your sight!
