This is a unique disc, bringing together Pierné's works for piano and orchestra other than the Concerto, which featured in Volume 1, with two very unknown orchestral pieces of considerable magic - they certainly merit being recorded and not consigned to oblivion by concert promoters. Juanjo Mena brings out marvellously atmospheric playing from the BBC Philharmonic and makes the best possible case for his orchestral scores. The two works in question, Paysages franciscains and Les Cathédrales, have a beauty that matches the promise of their titles, being wonderfully scored and full of subtle harmonies and melodic lines that you can imagine being played on the organ,even though the texture uses the full range of orchestral colour. They are possibly the two best items, and date from later in his career than the concertante piano works which follow. Of these, the Poème symphonique is the best, exploiting a Franckian grandeur in the nobility of the chorale-like theme and its sonorous sounding on the solo instrument. There is much elegance in the writing, and also some more exuberant, festive moments, although it avoids the slight sense of overload you find in the Concerto, and sounds a more truly French note. It is surely the most ambitious and affecting of his piano-based works and deserves to be heard (as does Vierne's fantastic Poème, even rarer, but that's another matter ...). The remaining pieces are all high-spirited bonbons in the Saint-Saëns mode, enjoyable especially when recorded as well as here. Chandos seem to work wonders with piano tone these days, and the whole aural experience of this disc is in the demonstration class. The CD ends with two solo piano pieces, the Fauré-influenced Nocturne en forme de valse, a plaintive watercolour much quieter than his writing for the piano elsewhere, and the pure Saint-Saëns flash and glitter of the Etude de Concert. Roger Nichols provides the excellent notes; there are two photos of Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, who plays excellently, but even so, it's only partly a piano disc ... as opposed to only one of Pierné: surely the wrong way round? Still it is a very good portrait of Pierné as a young winner of the Prix de Rome.

Smells beautiful! This is my favourite scent from Victoria Secret. I always get compliments when wearing it. Unfortunately the scent doesn't last long :(I was surprised at how quickly this arrived, it came earlier than expected! I will definitely be repurchasing another bottle.

Couldn’t find this in the Victoria secrets stores so was really pleased to find it on Amazon. Smell exactly like the ones in store. I love it and would buy again.
