ProsComfy to wearWork on pretty much anythingGreat Audio QualityConsExpensive (especially once you add the audio controller)Microphone is nothing to write home aboutNot WirelessSo the Turtle Beach Elite Pro is TB's latest stab at grabbing the hardcore pro gamers attention, lets start with the headphones physical design.DESIGNFirst thing you will notice about these headphones is the weight, this sounds like in long gaming sessions this could start to become uncomfortable, I played for about 3-4 hours with a friend online and never noticed and head fatigue setting in, and you kinda forget you are wearing them (until someone tries to talk to you, more on that later). The top piece, (that rests on your head)and the ear cups are both made from a memory foam like material, and this is what pushes the comfort level above other headsets I have tried. Though I don't usually wear glasses for gaming, they work extremely well with glasses and offer similar comfort levels as if you were not wearing them at all. The ear cups also have a good degree of turn on them allowing them to fit snug on any shaped head.AUDIO QUALITYThis is a stereo headset and as such is not as good as your full surround counterparts if you really wanna use it for upping your online gaming kill/death ratio. I do believe with the optional Tactical Audio Controller it will push out virtual 7.1 surround, but I don't have this so can't comment on the extra audio.I tried these headphones out on Xbox, PS4 and PC (plugging into a controller for all three tests, (a wired USB Xbox controller was used for the PC)), and had various different experiences with each. On all three I found the sound quality excellent, playing music is nice and base-y, whilst the vocals still come through clearly. Murdering helpless zombies in call of duty makes you feel like you are really there and streaming videos or music through various apps also works really well, and helps you forget about the real outside world. However, all was not perfect for me: on the PS4 it would occasionally cut out for a split second which can really jar the immersion. I tried several controllers out just in case and experienced the problem with all of them. On the Xbox, when I cranked up the volume to full blast it would noticeably distort, though I could never listen at that volume, so this is only a minor gripe. PC was where I got the best results, not once dropping out or getting distorted at higher volumes.MICROPHONEThis is probably the weakest point of these headphones. On each platform, my friends could hear me well enough for purpose, but said it was ever so slightly muffled. Again there is an optional tournament mic that can be bought which is supposedly much better, but I was hoping out of the box the standard may have been a bit better quality. It attaches to the headphones easy enough and has a lot of play in it for getting it in the prefect position. For such an expensive piece of kit, I don't want to have to buy add-ons to get the quality of experience I'm after.VERDICTFor £160, they are definitely aiming for the premium market, and overall they manage to get a good balance in comfort, sound quality and features. I think to truly appreciate these you need to get the Tactical Audio Controller, and that most definitely puts it in a high price bracket, if you are looking for something to game with your friends on, I believe there are cheaper, wireless options that will work just as wellfor about the same price.

These are the pinnacle of Turtle Beach gaming headphones, and although I don't consider myself to be a hardcore gamer (aka I have a job!) I do spend a lot of time on my PC playing Overwatch, but I also have a PS4 where I tend to play solo games but do delve into Final Fantasy XIV on there, too.I already own the 350VR headphones, which I mainly use when on my PS4 (and are designed to work with PSVR), and these are comfortable for some long hours of wear… but these Elite’s a super comfortable. The headband feels almost invisible and the weight is light… plus the headphones cup over your ears, therefore not crushing them. What’s more, I do wear glasses,so the ‘relief’ in the design means your glasses aren’t crushed into your head.The headphones build quality is very, very good… quite a bit of plastic but things are solid – None of that hollow sounding plastic casing, here. Also, this model comes with connectors for using on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, which is great. (I don't own an Xbox One.)Now then, the sound is great… bass is strong but not dominating, mid’s are clear and the high’s don’t sound tinny. The phones can handle some loud volumes without distorting, but I won’t turn it too loud to the point of deafness, but the volume can go higher than you need!When gaming, I’ve been able to hear things clearly while gaming at home, but I’ve not been in a position to use then I’m a noisy, busy environment. They also work fine as a pair of regular headphones for listening to music.As I don’t have the Tactical Audio Controller (TAC) I can’t confirm the quality of the surround sound… the TAC can be bought separately for an additional £150. The TAC is essential if you wish to have more customization. It enables ‘super human hearing’, ‘mic monitoring’ and gives you EQ presets to work with. As a solo-gamer, I don’t class this as an essential accessory.The microphone works fine (which I have used frequently while playing FF:XIV) and would suit most gamers. But an extra special ‘tournament’ microphone can be purchased for around £30 which feature noise-cancelling for background sounds – again this is for pro-gaming/tournament environments. Additionally, there is also the AMP for console gamers, which means you can hear your own voice at the same level your teammates hear it, and this will cost about an extra £35 (and again, really for tournament use).With all that covered, these are a great set of headphones, but for the ‘regular gamer; like me, they’re not exactly affordable. If you are in the pro-gaming/tournament scene, then I’d tell you go and check these out right now and dig deep into buying the extra accessories. However, if anyone like me wants some good headphones but doesn’t want to break the bank, a quality pair of ‘Turtle Beach’ headphones I would recommend the PX24 the 350VR models.

There was a time when the only headphones that I used were the rubbish ones that game in the box and these made me happy enough, but then I went and ruined it all by buying a pair of Turtle Beach headphones. All of a sudden I was in a world of immersive sounds that not only made the games seem more alive, but also helped you pick up tell-tale noise when the enemy where near. Fast forward to today and Turtle have a huge range of gaming headsets that cater for across the market; from your affordable, to your not so affordable. The ‘Turtle Beach Elite Pro Tournament Gaming Headset’ certainly comes into the second camp as the price point suggests that this is the pair for the serious gamer.And what a pair of headphones this gamer will get.They have the high build quality and packaging that you would expect from Turtle, but then more so. The headset is certainly in the elite of the range. They feel weighty and fit well with a head slide that means they should cater for most bonces. The microphone picks up sound cleanly and is far enough from the mouth not to get in the way. The sound quality in the cans themselves are the normal high standard you would expect and, although stereo and not surround, they do aid you in playing better.All this is well and good and for the vast majority of gamers the headset alone will be enough. You may be paying more than normal, but you can feel the benefit. Personally, for most I would imagine the slightly lower range would suffice, but I can imagine the luxury of the ‘Elite Pro’ would be a nice treat. The thing is, these headphones are made for the semi-professional style market and to really get the most out of them, you need to invest even more.There are additional elements required for various platforms; be it console or PC. The ‘Elite Pro’ will connect to your PS4 or One if you have the right pad, but you made need additional connections for the old pads or the PC. Furthermore, to get truly enhanced surround sound that gives you the added benefit of knowing where you enemy really is, you require the tactical adaptor – another outlay. In all, to get the true benefit of the kit you are investing hundreds of pounds and only the most committed would want to do this.I only received the headset and never managed to experience the surround sound and tactical advantage of the mixing desk, but even so it is clear to see that the ‘Elite Pros’ are something special. Bear in mind, are you this professional wannabe? If so, these headsets will work wonders and are deserving of high praise. For the majority of us, these are fantastic, but a luxury that is not necessary – but one that you will bask in if you do decide to buy them.

This is a very good, all-enclosing headset with detachable mic. When you first put them on, they're very comfy; they completely enclosed my ears, so they didn't get trapped between the headphone and my head, which happens a fair bit with other headphones.They supposedly have a system where you can alter them to wear glasses more comfortably - you take the cap of the headphone off, pull a ribbony thing and it makes an indent in the surface of the headphone. It makes the headphones slightly more comfortable, but I didn't really notice them being uncomfortable after an hour of gaming when wearing glasses without the 'dent' in it. It's not quite enough of a dent to be able to slide the glasses on or off without removing the headphones,but it's ok.The noise insulation of the headset is good - they're not noise-cancelling, but definitely mute the outside world quite a lot. I'd frequently get really surprised by someone else walking into the room when I wore them.The sound quality is excellent - really good bass, good feeling of directional sound, although the manual recommends other plugins and bits of their kit for the 'real' experience.I did like that the microphone was detachable and optional, so you can use them as standard headphones without needing to have the mic in the way all the time.One minor complaint - because they're so big, heavy and all-encompassing, your ears do get quite hot after a while. I'm not sure there's much you can do about it, but do many gamers get sweaty ears like this?Overall, these are really good quality, feel very solid and robust - but you're obviously paying a premium for something like this!NB. After a month with these, my cat bit through the cable in three different places - this is apparently a very common problem. Please store out of reach of felines and unplug after each use. I tried to order a replacement cable, but the Reytid one on Amazon is not the right one for the Elite Pro. However, I contacted Turtle Beach directly and they very kindly offered to send me a new cable free of charge - thanks guys!Update: Turtle Beach US has now started to stock replacement cables for the Elite Pro, but they don't ship to the UK. However, if they won't ship you a replacement headset, you can still use a service like ShipTo, or a forwarding address, to save buying an entirely new one. The cables are in the region of $10, with $5 shipping and however much to forward it on - plus customs - but it's still cheaper than replacing one of these bad boys entirely.

I've always used Turtle Beach headsets when gaming on consoles. I find them to be reliable, sturdy, comfortable and, most importantly perhaps, that they always sound great. Happily, this Elite Pro Gaming headset continues that tradition, albeit at some significant expense.So, let us start with the basics; the Elite Pro Headset connects easily to a PS4, PC and Xbox One controller (of the 3.5mm variety, if you have an old controller with the smaller port, you'll need the adaptor) and it is pretty much plug and play thereafter.They're quite heavy on the head (not uncomfortably so) but this is thanks in no small part to their sturdy construction,which means they'll last longer and take a fair amount of rage-quitting-slamming-down style punishment - the last thing you want when paying this much is for your headset to break easily. I'm convinced the Elite Pro's will not do that!The sound signature of the headset is definitely v-shaped, with boosts to both the bass and the top end which makes games, movies and music sound exciting, in your face, and lively, just as you'd want and unlike more analytical pro-audio gear that you really wouldn't want to use for gaming anyway. In terms of the microphone, those unfortunate enough to hear my mid-game moans about people cheating etc reported that they could do so clearly and without distortion, even at my rage filled, angriest. All good and so far so very positive, recommendable for sure!My star-losing gripe with this package is as follows; in order to experience a simulated surround sound or some of the other advanced features possible with this headset it is necessary to buy hardware add-ons. Yes folks, the grubby world of the "DLC" is now encroaching on hardware too.Standalone these headphones are absolutely amazing, top of the range stuff, but the fact that you need to pay the same over again for better audio, a better microphone and some other things which really should come as standard at this premium is an annoyance and smacks of greed. If you're paying this much you want the best and don't want to have the temptation to shell out yet more on top. Unfortunate when the rest of the package is so good.All in all the gripe above would not put me off buying the Elite Pro Tournament Gaming Headset and I do recommend it to you. But if you want to take it to another level again, get ready for your wallet to take as many shots as you in the games.

Build quality is certainly nice. as you'd expect from what is effectively just an audio mixer, at this price point, thought it is all plastic construction. It's hefty and sturdy plastic though, and weighty enough not to skid around on the desk. Feet are nice and grippy. The large volume control has a decent smoothness and damped motion, but what look like lots of LEDs around its circumference are actually just backlit transparent windows which are alternately covered and revealed by a rotating flag attached to the volume spindle. Clever, and achieves the same optical effect at a fraction of the cost of manufacture. The sliders are also nicely damped and smooth. They allow for adjustment of background noise,output mic and mic monitor level as well as game/chat balance, which has a centre-point detent too. Pushing the master volume knob can be used to mute all audio, which is a nice feature. There is a separate button to mute the mic, which glows when activated - so you're sure! The surround mode button has 4 separate settings to adjust the separation between left and right channels to allow you to pick out which side something or someone is approaching from more easily, and is quite effective. The presets control has 4 settings to enhance different aspects of audio - e.g. enhancing quiet sounds, explosions, etc. Interesting to play with, and there are lots of others which can be uploaded over the USB connection using the Ear Force Audio Hub software. You might find one which enhances your experience depending on what you're playing or listening to. One very cool feature is the ability to daisy-chain multiple units together using Cat 5 or optical cables so you can get lag-free chat between multiple players in the same room. Great for LAN parties, when it can be difficult to hear each other over the sound of whirring fans and in-game explosions and gunfire. Lots of cables are included in the pack to get you started. Compatibility modes include Playstation, PC/Mac, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Pricey, but ultimately packed with enough features for gadget fiends and hardcore group gamers to justify the entry fee. Of course, if you want to be able to daisy-chain multiple units, you're going to want to have your friends invest too, which may be a tall order.

The first thing you notice about the Elite Pro is the build quality. I have lots of XBOX add-ons and this is far and away the highest quality unit in the collection. Just picking it up, it's far heavier than it looks and the controls are substantial and built to last. (As opposed to some devices where you look at the buttons and you just know they'll be broken within 3 months.) The next thing you notice is the illumination, this may sound trivial but it lights up like a Christmas tree. Although this in itself seems purely decorative, not only does it look really cool but you know whoever designed the box put a lot of thought and effort in which probably equates to quality in other areas.I must admit,although the sliders are a major physical feature, I've not really used them much. The device comes with a number of presets (Game, Cinema etc) and they've been more than enough. Chat voice is crystal clear in game mode, and the surround sound quality in Cinema mode is fantastic. My headphones are Logitec G633 (Artemis Spectrum) which plug easily into the box and give great quality sound. The only downside is that although I've always thought of the headphones as a relatively good quality piece of kit, they now feel a bit 'cheap' compared to the build of the Elite Pro...The most useful feature (strangely) is the volume control, the illuminated LED's make it easy to see exactly how loudly you're setup in the dark (i.e. in normal lighting conditions) and being able to tap the control for mute on/off is way easier that fiddling around for the volume control on the headset, which, unless you play in front of an illuminated mirror, you're doing blind.Although I give the device 5 stars, I will add three caveats;a. You need to be a little tech savvy to get all the right cables in all the right holesb. If you're used to a wireless setup, this will introduce cables into the mix i.e. your distance from the console may be an issue with regards to cable length.c. You will need something stable next to you to sit the device on, either flat chair arm or a coffee table

After first seeing the price I was glad to also see upon opening how well made these "pro" set of gaming headphones are. They are super strong, and very robust – able to take a bit of a kicking, and will more than hold up to the demands of a serious gamer. They don't look particularly classy, but then the aim by Turtle beach was most likely to design a big, brash set of phones.As for feel, these are definitely the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn – at the very least on a par with my much loved Sennheiser HD298 lounge phones. The cups are so soft here, with the gel making for a really luxurious fit, and they don't make your ears all sweaty with long duration gaming either,they have a very cooling feel. I like the options for the headband too, with a standard adjustable strip below the main frame. I found it easy and quick to adjust. The bendable mic on the front is good too, robust and with enough length to get exactly how you want it.As for the sound. I've had these for a good few months now and so have put them through their paces when it comes to different kinds of games, and I'd say that the most fun I've had was with Star Ward Battlefront, because of the sheer detail they pick up. I'm really, really impressed with how these portray shooting games in general, but Battlefront was the pinnacle (at least, so far).On their own, this is a fine standalone set of gaming headphones, for the casual to serious home gamer, but I have to say that I find the "pro" label a little frustrating, only because to get the full immersive, phenomenally editable options you have to buy Turtle Beach's Tactical Controller, which is £150 itself, taking the total price to a crazy £320. So I'd say they're only really "pro" with this expensive add-on.But for what they are, on their own, I can safely say they are the best gaming headphones I've ever used, and even without the Tactical Controller you get a lot of great features anyway to satisfy the experienced gamer.

Review for Turtle Beach Elite Pro Tournament Gaming HeadsetSound qualityI coupled mine with a USB 7.1 dongle and also tested on a internal sound card and found this headset to have a really good soundscape. The bass is well defined and boomy on the explosions. Mid’s are good and not muddied by the highs and lows. Nothing is practically fighting each other for dominance.Mic quality is pretty good very clear and full sound.ComfortThese are really comfortable to wear among the best have worn but they also have the most adjustment, even including recesses for glasses. The first time I have come across this feature but as someone who wears glasses it seems to be working I don’t feel like my spec arms are being forced into my face,something that can be a great disappointment for other headsets.The ear cups are like huge marshmallows keeping sound in and unwanted sound to a bare minimum. The bulk of the ear cup is leatherette but the edges have cloth to reduce sweating but as a side effect seem to suck air out of your ear when first worn which also provide great noise cancellation.Their actually fairly sturdy when worn and hard to get them to slip around on my head thanks to all the adjustment features on the top band and the ear cup holder area, having 3 clicks of adjustment.The downside is that they are very expensive and labelled as being primarily designed for esports but I expect that at this price point that most people would want 7.1 surround sound option, But you have to buy an extra box to do this.They also didn’t come with an extension cable which is a bit annoying and something I have come to expect with good quality headset, I had to root around for a spare to connect it to my normal soundcard, via hiding the cable behind 2 monitors so about 3 meters distance. So seems like a big oversight in the overall experience of this package. At a premium price point I expected a few more bells and whistles.

To start with I will be talking about the price of the audio controller and how it compares to rival game audio controllers. The Audio controller itself is currently priced around £150, which I personally think is a big ask - but upon looking at similar items I have realised that it is not that bad for the price considering that it has a range of settings that are designed to make your gaming, musical or movie experience a lot better.Its main competitor on the market is the Astro Mixamp, which appears on the surface to be quite a good product but upon further inspection, I have come to the conclusion that it is not as good as the Turtle Beach Elite Pro tactical audio controller.I believe this is because the Turtle Beach seems to have more lifestyle settings, for example it doesn't just have gaming implications - it can also be used for watching a movie or listening to music, which I find is handy because when I'm further away from my laptop I find the longer lead so handy because then I can control the amplitude of my music without having to jump up and go to my computer.In terms of gaming, it works really well because of the quick "tactical" chat/game audio changes and especially the mic monitor level which adjusts your chat audio to the sound of the audio from the game, which is really helpful especially when you are in the middle of a game and you really need to change something. This product also works well with the UE mini boom plugged into it. I recommend buying that if you like music.In conclusion i would give this a 4 out of 5 stars, docking a star due to the price - but it's one of the best on the market.

First of all, the product is packaged very well, the headset itself is placed inside a moulded casing so it fits perfectly, and the rest of the content is packaged well, such as the accessories and the instruction guide.The headset fits perfectly on my head and is extremely comfortable, the speakers are cushioned with thick padding that rest tightly but comfortable on my ears, totally cancelling out any noise from outside the headset, keeping you in the zone, then with the head bar it can not only be raised and lowered, but also loosened or tightened to suit how you like to wear the headset.Assembling the headset together is very straight forward, just attach the microphone wire to the headset,which I also praise the microphone wire itself as you are able to shape the structure of the wire with ease and are able to raise or lower it too, then with the audio cable it is again simple, just connect the correct ends in the controller and headset then you are good to go, it is basic with a mute switch and a volume dial, but as I used this for the Xbox One I attached with the audio adapter specially designed for the Xbox One controller which offers much more control over audio.The colour scheme is really nice too, it would suit any dark colour scheme should you think of that as an importance like myself, and the materials are really good, from the strong parts that hold it together to the soft parts that make it so comfortable to game in, without a doubt the best gaming headset I have used.

I've had Turtle Beach headsets in the past and have never been overly impressed by them, but this one is different. Mainly because it's so comfortable. It's the first headset I've come across that has an in-built design especially for spectacle wearers. You have to adjust the earpads as per the instructions, but once you get it right the difference is amazing. No more pain caused by the arms of your glasses pressing against the sides of your head. As someone who always wears glasses when gaming, this feature is very welcome.The headset connects to a PC, a PS4 controller or an Xbox One controller with a 3.5mm jack (or an adapter if there's no jack). The audio is great, both the game audio and the mic,and the build quality and comfort level are excellent.Then come the downsides. There's no surround sound or mic mixing without the Elite Pro Tactical Audio Controller. The headset on its own isn't cheap, but add on the cost of the audio controller and it's almost doubled. Then there's the list of other accessories you might be tempted to buy. The Elite Pro Amp, the Elite Pro Tactical Audio Adapter, the Elite Pro Tournament Noise-Cancelling Microphone. You'll be shelling out a lot if you're a dedicated gamer who wants all the accessories going.I like the Elite Pro Tournament Headset. It's my favourite of the Turtle Beach headsets I've used. I just think the cost of the add-ons is too high. If I felt inclined to get them all I might end up feeling I'd been fleeced by Turtle Beach.

The Elite Pro Tournament headset, as you can see from the price, is certainly a high-end product. It's perhaps a lot more than most are willing to spend on a gaming headset. So what sets it apart from the others?Well for one thing the build quality is definitely a mark above most of the competition. It feels robust, from the earphones to the mic and the adjustable band, everything feels really well built. It's a headset that can handle a bit of rough handling. Wearing the headphones is also a level above most others. As a person who wears glasses to game its fantastic to find a pair of headphones that mould so well with glasses and can be adjusted to just the right spec. It really makes such a difference.The padding feels very comfotable and unobtrusive.The headset lights up when switched on. Perhaps a touch extravagent, but why the heck not. It certainly gets attention. However the real reason for the high price, for me, is in the quality if sound and of the mic. It delivers a quality of sound that really brings games alive and allows you to fully emerse yourself. Multiplayer is made so much better with clear sounding vocals, makes party chat all the better.I've owned a few Turtle Beach headsets before and always find them reliable and of great quality. This is a massive step above though. You can't help but be impressed by the build quality. Is it worth the price? I believe so.

Over the years I have bought head sets where I in the beginning you buy the crap little thing that clips over one ear???? then I bought Triton pros. but due to wear and tear and because the they have a plastic surround over your head they recently snapped. then your stuck with a broken head set an wires and a connection box that's totally useless. So I went out on a limb and thought should I spend £20 or £100??? after all its just a headset?? NO I'm going to buy a set with longevity?? So I decide to spend over £300 on this head set plus the controller.anyway today they come and they were SCREAMING QUALITY before I opened to box. You know something is good by the weight and the look.this headset looks and feels the business, unfortunately they have a price to match. BUT I wont lie they are the Bee's Knees. they sit nice on your head with none of that pressure on top of you skull, (Very comfy) the sound is very deep and clear. the Tactical audio control box is a must that's what puts the price up. but you do NEED IT. its a little fiddly at first but it will all come together in the end. and I promise you wont be disappointed. I was pleased to find the optic cable was long enough to sit where I have always sat when playing so that just plugs in box to box. all in all if you have the dosh these two items are a must.

I bought the PC Edition but am using it for xbox x - it basically adds in a usb amp should you want to use it on a pc or Mac which you cant buy separately fyi.As far as xbox x goes, I was really hoping this would solve party issues I was having where people could hear themselves through my connection/static in the background whenever I talked (ps4 headset to blame maybe). And it did fit it. My pals say I sound crystal clear like we are on a good quality VOIP call, no feedback, no static, no echo. It's amazingly comfortable, feels sturdy and there is no issue with the mic 'slipping down' as I play. The mic plugs into the side of the earpiece as show in pic and is a standard 3.5mm so you can even swap for a mod-mic or any high quality standard mic.But this one is fantastic and they sell a tournament edition mic for about £20 which adds in a very effective noise reduction if you have a noisy room. I cant recommend this headset enough, never enjoyed using headsets (Sony wireless gold etc) until now.Oh, if you wear glasses it has a feature where it will make a groove in the leather ear surround so it fits around your glasses and doesn't press them into your temple! To be fair its so plush I haven't needed to use that feature but its there and is a cool thing if you wear glasses and game hours on end!
