I set up an aquarium for the lounge last year and never believed it would be so difficult to try and find a decent performing aquarium pump that was also quiet enough to be non obtrusive.I tried many different kinds and while some were good at creating nice bubbles and aerating the tank ALL of them were noisy to the point of driving me crazy.You'd think the more expensive ones would be quieter but no, it's not the case.The problem stems from the way the pump pushes air into the tank. Basically with most pumps they contain a crude bit of rubber valve that vibrates and operates rather like a bellows pumping air.The noise comes from the sound the rubber makes when it vibrates against the plastic

My well known brand air pump failed after less than 18 months use and after the expensive repair kit made no improvement I needed a quick cheap temporary stand in. I chose this Trixie as it fitted the bill, ordered it and the item arrived within a couple of days. I was a bit dubious when I saw its small size and even more so when on re reading the spec I realised it was only rated for tanks up to 50 litres and mine is 94 litres. No problem !!! This mighty midget pushes vast quantities of air straight to the bottom of the tank more effectively than my old (and much more expensive) pump.Buy one you won't regret it.

Our old pump of 15 years finally gave up the ghost and we needed a new one. Originally I brought an Elite 799 pump from my local pet store and quickly installed it but took it back 24 hours later as it was just too noisy for our living room. Looked this pump up on Amazon as decided to take a chance on it due to it's cheapness but I am extremely happy with the purchase, it does the job and is also very quiet.

Using it to make worm tea .It is in one of my greenhouses so noise is not a problem, and the bubbles make the most noise but have positioned it so that it is hanging by the lead with just a minimal attachment to a solid surface..It is so light that no problem exists with it straining the lead.It makes lots of air bubbles and is ideal for the purpose to which I have used it for.

Brilliant , quiet and powerfull,I have had a few pumps but none come anywhere near this for power with quietness, sends the old bubbles cascading up the tank .Most air stones I have had the pumps have to be powerfull to make them work then hence the noise, but this does the job with no noise .Fast and good service

I have been very impressed with how quiet this unit is. It sounds like a 'jackhammer' as others described if not setup properly. You need somewhere that the rubber feet can sit and where its not likely to move. I currently split the air pipe to two airstones for two aquariums to provide interest for the fish.

This pump is great, got it for my bio orb tank and is better that the one that came with the tank. Does the job and very powerful. A little noise but that is to be expected especially when on a wooden floor, nothing i cannot live with though, my fish is happy and that what matters to me, brilliant.

|We have spent a fortune on pumps to get some peace, We bought this after reading reviews and it is brilliant so quiet it is also quite powerful for such a small thing. I cannot believe that after spending fortunes we just needed to buy this. A bargain

This pump was bought as a replacement for a broken one. I can't get over how quiet it is. You literally forget it is on. So far it is working well and i have happy fish, so everyone is happy.

Does what it says on the tin. It's very quiet indeed, reliable and I have no issues with it. Works very well with an airstone and pumps a good amount of air. Great value for money.

Nice & Quiet pump perfect for a new fish tank or replace ment , i was that impressed I have replaced both pumps with these worth a buy and is cheap.

The pump was good value and works fine. it is a little noisy but not expecting it to be silent. just dont have it on all the time

This pump is quiet, efficient and good value for money. Much better than pumps I have previously paid much, much more for.

can be a little loud when standing in cupboard, but works really well for my size tank

Does exactly what it's needed to do, a bit active on the movement side and runs away.
