I've been a huge Splinter Cell fan ever since I "borrowed" my brother's Splinter Cell 1 Gamecube game a few years back. Since then I've bought every new game in the series, my favourite being Chaos Theory.I don't have a 360 (yet) or PS3, so I had to choose between the Gamecube and Wii versions. I chose the Wii version simply because I wanted to see how the Wii controls worked. It will take you a while to get comfortable with the controls, but after a few hours of play it should start to become second nature. Most of the controls work well enough, but there are a few that can cause some frustration.- The jump move (by flicking the Nunchuck upwards) can get slightly annoying. It works well enough, but having to flick the nunchuck upwards can take away from the experience at times because it's the only move in the game where you need to flick quite fast and violently.- The "back-to-the-wall" move (flick the Nunchuck left or right) on the other hand doesn't work well at all. This is because the motion is way too sensitive and so a slight left or right movement of your left hand will trigger it. The only way to never accidentally hug a wall is either never go near one or keep your left hand perfectly still.- Another Nunchuck tilt move is the move to shift your weapon from hand to hand so you have better vision when coming up to corners etc, (brought over from Chaos Theory, you pressed and held Z and then moved the analogue stick left or right to switch). Because it uses the same Nunchuck tilt sensitivity, sometimes you'll be in the aim view, and suddenly you'll shift your gun to the left hand, or vice-versa. This can become quite annoying. These Nunchuck moves would have worked a lot better if you had to press and hold a certain button first to active them.Despite these control gripes, they don't ruin the game as a whole, as you do eventually get used to them. The graphics are decent, although you may need to calibrate your tv to get the best possible picture. My tv was calibrated a while ago and was great for all my other Wii (and Gamecube) games. However Splinter Cell looked rather awful. Especially the lack in contrast resulting in "greyed" out textures when they should be in shadow. After a re-calibration, taking my contrast up and brightness way down, the game seemed a lot closer to the target shots on the back of the box.Be warned though that the game still isn't as good as it looks on the back of the box, and the ones at the top of this Amazon page. They are clearly 360 shots, and misleading. Also, there are times when the game will appear to have Fisher lit up, but the light meter saying he is in pitch black, also a result from the (sometimes) shoddy graphics and lighting, meaning you will need to keep a close eye on the visibility meter at all times to make sure you are hidden in darkness.I haven't had a chance to play much of the multiplayer mode, so I can't comment on that, although it seemed pretty solid.Overall, I'd say this game isn't as good as Chaos Theory, but it's a decent enough effort. If you don't have a 360 or PS3, and are a Splinter Cell fan, then I think this is worth picking up. Let's hope Splinter Cell: Conviction comes out on the Wii!

There are many stealth-based games on the market and the Splinter Cell series is undoubtedly the best, but Double Agent boasts something that none of the others can- playing for both the American government and a terrorist organisation called the JBA. It all starts on a mission to Iceland, where it is discovered that five deadly `Red Mercury' devices have been stolen and several devastating attacks on US soil have been planned. After a personal tragedy, Sam Fisher takes on his most risky mission yet- working undercover in the terrorist group that plan to use the Red Mercury. However, he has to play both sides, otherwise he risks the JBA discovering his true intentions or the government thinking he's in too deep. This is where the important decision-making comes in,and it always comes with its consequences. For example, do you let a bomb go off and please the terrorists or tamper with the trigger and save 2000 lives, whilst risking the JBA's distrust? Trust is important in the game and there is a trust bar showing which organisation trusts you the most. It is best to keep it balanced, but your actions affect how trusted you are, with later decisions having the lives of your fellow operatives at stake.Concerning equipment, everything is there from the previous games (pistol, rifle, attachments, grenades, etc). However, there are some new aspects to your gadgets. The EMP ammunition is a new device that can be launched from your rifle, and instead of only being inoperative for a short time, this permanently disables electrical equipment such as cameras, lights or turrets. For certain missions where you have to investigate the JBA's headquarters, there is a new pistol available (called the SC-303 Compact Launcher) that can only fire non-lethal ammunition like rubber bullets and tranquilliser darts. As with all Splinter Cell games, the mission locations vary from all over the world- and Double Agent is no exception. Levels see Sam commandeering a land-locked oil tanker in snowy Russia, to escaping from an American prison, as well as infiltrating a cruise ship in Mexico. In my opinion, it would have been better if there were one or two more maps in the solo campaign, but nether the less, the nine missions are still top quality. The final level set in New York is perhaps one of the best. Also, Double Agent removes the mission rating system seen in previous Splinter Cell titles, which removes some re-playability as on the prior games, you could strive to obtain the 100% score. This game also introduces two bonus maps to play and this is a nice new feature to add. These take place before the solo campaign and are exciting to play- whether you're eliminating every hostile on a ship or escaping a bunker whilst you are suffering from being drugged.Overall, with its new features this game adds a bit more originality than the other games in the Splinter Cell series. It is heart pounding to play and has perhaps the most gripping storyline of a stealth game to date.

You're Sam Fisher, a secret agent (Splinter Cell) employed by the NSA to investigate terrorism, weapons threats, deals etc. The game starts with you in Iceland, investigating an arms deal, but your called out before completing your objectives-it's your daughter... She's dead. You don't care anymore, about anything much, and you take on the toughest assignment of your career. Your going to investigate a terrorist group from the inside, by becoming one of them, but your an agent at the same time. How do you keep both parties happy you double agent? So, as you can see, the Storys there, and thats all in the first mission! So, what about the graphics? Once again,Splinter Cells lighting effects are some of the best I've seen on the PS2. The light trickles through the windows and there is a constant reliance on lighting for the stealth to become essential. The enemies look and move in a realistic manner and the levels are great, from the frozen icecaps of Iceland, to the prison you'll end up in. Excellent graphics. The gameplay has been tweaked too-again there is no, 3 strikes and your out from the first two games, but too many alarms mean increased security making your job harder. Again you have front attacks, and rear attacks (stealthy ones.) You can attack from a ledge, to being in water and pulling your enemy in. So no change really. The emphasis again is on stealth, do your job without being seen. So sneak up and take out. The new addition is the use of a co-worker. There are sections of the game where the computer will assign another person with you (Computer controlled) and you'll be able to give basic instructions (stay, follow etc) to help you with the game. Most importantly, your friend can help you up onto unaccessible ledges, but it's a nice touch. Secondly, is the fact that some missions will have objectives you must fulfill for both groups, so you must either choose a side (terrorists or NSA) or try and please both-this is all up to you! Excellent touches like this continue to give life to a brilliant franchise.Once again there is an online mode and co-op mode, a good variety of missions and this will please any fan or any newcomer really. It's definately one of the games to buy. I recommend it heartily to anyone.

Ive never played a splinter cell game before and was browsing the internet when i stumbled across Double Agent. The description of the game appealed to me so i gave it a go. The controls were pretty easy to master, even for a splinter cell virgin like me. You play as Sam Fisher a double agent who infiltrates a terrorist organisation planing to detonate nuclear bombs at multiple locations around the US.In the game, and as part of your missions you travel all over the world, from Okhotsk in Siberia to Kinshasa in Congo, to a cruise ship in Cozumel, Mexico trying to gain info that will help disrupt their plans, bring you closer to finding the nuclear bombs and save millions of innocent lives.During missions you have to complete tasks for both sides such as planting and defusing bombs among other things. The best part of this game for me was the choice of storyline, you have to make decisions and the outcome of the game depends on the decisions you make, for example, do you help plant bombs on a cruise ship and kill 2000 innocent people but be closer to finding the nuclear bombs which could kill millions or do you tamper with the bombs, save 2000 lives but risk never finding the nuclear bombs and risk blowing your cover. These are the decisions you have to make which is a fantastic part of the game.I thouroughly enjoyed this game, ive completed it twice already.the decision making is brilliant and really makes a difference to the outcome of the game.Graphics are very good, gameplay is excellent, each mission taking in excess of an hour. being able to save at any point is a welcome feature too. If your a splinter cell fan then you'll love this, if your not, you'll still love it. 10/10

Was dubious of poor internet reviews and varying user reviews. Decided to pick this up for £15 sealed from Tesco.Surely, it's worth £15?Bad: Old gen game ported to Wii with added remote controls only.No 60hz screen display, no excuse for that. Some dated looking textures, but overall okay.Good: I actually had no issues with the controls. You physically move with the nunchuk analog and rotate camera with remote, (pretty standard set-up to me). I've never ruined a scene/room because of the remote controls, (only because I was to noisy breaking necks!) So, the controls are good with me.Great atmosphere, cool story and nice level design. Very envolving and atmospheric. Challening but not frustrating.Thers is no support for the gamecube controllor but again, I've found the remote controls comfortable and enjoyable. I sat in the dark with the television up loud and played through this for an hour and twenty mins straight so it definately won me over on first sitting. I was engrossed and never annoyed at the game. Needs good concentration to play, but it's a Tom Clancy stealth game so that's expected. You feel rewarded when taking out cameras and lasers before they detect you, so the game requires discipline but it's a rewarding experience. You really do feel like a genuine spy. Note: I had to turn my tv settings/brightness etc down to really appreciate the shadows, some textures look a bit odd otherwise. But, this may of just been my tv's default settings. Definately worth buying for a budget price. Not a pick up and play game, not for everyone I imagine but I'm very happy I bought Double Agent.

Its quite an achievment for the series to make it now 4 in a row of very enjoyable Splinter Cells games-if the style of game suits you or not. I have played and finished this game already severeal times and am reviewing it now because I feel its worth metioning as the ps2 is slowly replaced by the new ps3 and xbox 360 etc. I feel its still worth getting Double Agent on these new consoles aswell as ps2. As some peopel know out there, the game has changes strangely from console to console(how many versions there are I dont know) but the ps2 and x box versions are diffrent and now the x box 360 is diffrent again.I even saw a move on the xbox 360 where as Fisher-you can grab an enemy soldier and put him on the ground face down and put him in a sub mission hold-probably for interogation. This kind of move and swimming under the ice aswell as extra bits n pieces Involving proving yourself to be allowed into the JBA where not present at all on ps2. This has promted me to buy the x box 360 version if I am to buy the console. However I would just say to any1 who enjoyed chaos theory, or the first two games you will not be disapointed in buying this game especily for ps2 which seems to have the highest rating on the amazon site. Multiplayer is avilable again on ps2. But in single player you can attain slightly diffrent cinematics if you choose to ignore an objective or carry out another. The music is also excellent and diffrent form chaos theory, I wish they would release it on cd. The 5th SC will be out in 09. Where any of you able to get Mosses fingerprints with the fingerprint scanner?

I bought this game two days ago and had been waiting for it since feb 06, now that i have it i can say that it was worth the wait. The first level starts the story but you do not encounter any double agent decisions until the second level in prison. From here on you have a list of primary, opposing and opportunity objectives. Which ever group has set you the objectives will honour you with their trust. The trust bar can be accessed by your PDA or you can wait for it to appear when you complete an objective. If you do too many terrorist objectives the NSA becomes suspicious of you and will restrict the amount of equipment you start a level with.Do too many NSA objectives and the Terrorists will make you prove your loyalty in set-timed objectives, which usually include having to execute an innocent person. This game received 5 stars because for the first time ever in a Splinter Cell game i felt very conflicted by what i should do and also the events that take place throughout the game are very emotional and you really feel the writers made an effort this time. As in Chaos Theory the cut-scenes were very detailed and life like, Double Agent takes this to the next level, it looks like a movie. If you're an avid splinter cell player you'll love this because there is still a strong stealth based play in the missions but there is more action sequences entwined in the levels. If you have never played a splinter cell game but are attracted to the concept then you may like this.

This is probably one of the best games I have EVER played.I read the reviews on Amazon, and it was these reviews that made me buy it. I have never played any of the Splinter Cell games before, so was unsure of what to expect.Everything about the game is awesome, the graphics are stunning, and the game play is out of this world. The music also plays a major part in building up the tension! You are in total control of where the game goes. You have the choice of helping the terrorists or your bosses at the N.S.A. You have a trust meter which you have to balance out. You can't always help the terrorists, as the N.S.A will begin to think you have become "bad" and if you help the N.S.A too much the terrorists will not believe you are one of them. It's all about ballance, in keeping both sides happy. The weapons you use are amazing, you must learn to use each one correctly to get the most out of the missions. The easiest way to get through the missions is not to be seen by the enemy or any of the security cameras. If you go in all guns blazing, chances are you will be killed. If you take your time and slowly sneak up on your enemy out of the darkness, you will remain undetected. You will never tire of this game, I can't stop playing it. I have played it for hours and am still no where near completing it.This has everything I could ever want from a game. Just buy it!

I originally had enough spec to run this game; however, it still refused to play, so I upgraded my graphics card to one that had ample spec. When I tried to play the game again, it then gave me a Must Check error message and still wouldn't play. It turned out, through much detective work, that this message wants you to run and install the DirectX9c file on the Game CD. I already had DirectX 9 but it wouldn't work with that so I installed the CD version. This solved the Must Check error message and the game finally played.I was impressed with the graphics and I quite liked the change in settings from night to daytime. I think the play off between trying to please both sides was a stroke of genius and does pose some quandaries for you.I love the new moves; the way he can stalk someone under water or ice then smash it, grab them and dispose of them is just great. However, like everyone else has said, the PC version does seem to be buggy. I'm lucky if I can get through a whole level without it crashing on me. Very irritating and spoils the game play on what should be a great twist to the Splinter cell series. I will play it out to the end, and if you are a die-hard Splinter cell fan then you could try buying it when it's cheaper, if only to try out his wicked new moves.

Sam Fisher is back in his biggest mission yet! After a horrible accident involving his daughter, Sam's life is ruined and because of that he vaulanteers for the most dangerous mission of his career. In order to stop an attack on American soil, Sam must infiltrate and destroy a vicious terrorist organization from within. Joining there group and working for them, he must discover the terrorists plans before they destroy the world. After playing every game in the Splinter cell siries, I can safely say that this is the best out of all of them.1.The in game movies are epic, each one has amazing graphics and amazing voice acting. Not forgetting the last scene with Enrica and Sam.Im just saying that watching the movies as well as playing the game is great.2.The storyline is incredible, I mean who would of though of a amzingly trained agent called Sam Fisher. As well as his daughter Sarah, who died in a car accident!3.And most probably the best thing about this game is the gameplay, the level design is brilliant as well as the fact that you can hide in the shadows. My overall opinion is that this game is one of the best game ever. Get this game! Its a lifetime experience.

Easily the best SC game in the series so far. It takes the classic sneak/stealth format (with some modifications such as the absence of the "light-metre" instead going with the character being either hidden or exposed - simple enough) and it adds a fantastic storyline to boot with every action having numerous reactions. It's a simple choice really. Those who like to save the world can do by bringing down a very dangerous terrorist cell and those who have a bit of a "mean streak" can chose to exercise it here. The game takes Sam Fisher all over the world from Iceland to Mexico and from New York to the simply brilliant mission in Shanghai which had me absolutely engrossed.A must buy for anyone who likes to sneak around or people waiting for the PS3 version of Metal Gear Solid and have some time to fill to March 2008.P.S. The Ice Kill icon does appear in the Iceland mission. Don't know what game the other guy was playing.

If you like the idea of sneaking around, knocking people out with gas, shooting your enemies dead with an easy to use aiming technique, throwing sticky cameras on walls and seeing where your enemies are, using; night vision, infra red and an electronic device finder goggles then this game will suit you a treat! It provides superb game play with a series of difficult and challenging missions that can be played to suit your style of play. As the game progresses you end up trying to satisfy two different factions and you can decide your fate and what storyline you wish to follow; one of a rogue agent, one of a loyal agent or one that has the best of both! A truly marvelous game,I would strongly recommend this game to any gamer who likes a bit of tactical and challenging shoot em up fun especially as the price has gone down a lot!

When i bought this i thought it was the only game the looked half decent on the release date. Boy was i right! The camera works really well with the motion sensitvity and is not too fast like on redsteel (it's ok but sword bits are great!) I thought single player was good but then i played co-o. if you have a sensible friend who doesnt throw grenades everywhere and eventuall kill you (it is fun) you can have a lot of fun. The sheer joy i got when i stabbed some from behind (with a knife i hasten to add)for the first time was amazing. I would honestly say this is the best release game. Yes including zelda which i think is awful. Anyone who likes splinter cell or tom clancys this game will appeal to you.I recommend this game to anyone who loves stealth game. It's great!!!!!!!!!!!!
